It’s October, But This Is Not a Surprise

I suppose the real question is why it took so long for the smoking gun tape to make its way out of the sewer that is Donald Trump’s campaign for president. We’ve built up to this since 2010, when the Tea Party ran some candidates who decided that rape was a major public policy item, not for the shame and injustice it rained down on women, but because evidently many Republican men believed that a woman couldn’t get pregnant as a result of it or that it was much ado about nothing. Yes, we always knew that Trump was disgraceful sexist and that he saw women as objects to be conquered or groped, but somehow the morality bar got buried under the sand this presidential go ’round and his rantings became the stuff of boys will be boys or, worse, lauded by some as evidence that we’d lost our sense of humor in the haze and smoke of political correctness.

There’s a reason the word “correctness” is associated with the phrase. Because it’s correct to respect women, and the other minorities, and the physically challenged people Donald Trump has savaged. It’s correct to actually speak from facts and research, not from the good old 1950s paradigm that many of Trump’s supporters want the country to return to. And it’s correct to hold everybody accountable for remarks that denigrate any person for whatever reason.

And we are learning so much about the Republican Party and its candidates, aren’t we? Mike Pence, Trump’s running mate, said nothing after reporters repeatedly peppered him with questions about Trump’s remarks. Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s once and present advisor, reminded us that we’re electing the leader of the free world and one who needs to lead by example, not a Sunday school teacher, which presumably means that the president can say anything he wants in the interests of being tough.

Paul Ryan didn’t appear on stage with Trump. Sorry, not good enough.

The party leaders and elected officials need to condemn, in no uncertain words, what Trump has said. They need to disavow his campaign and, at the very least, withdraw their support. It’s bad enough that Trump’s ideas are dangerous and incoherent. It’s quite another for this man to think that he can follow a man like Barack Obama into the White House and have any moral standing.

This of course will be one of the topics of Sunday’s debate, but I expect that since voters will be asking questions, that they will move on to jobs and security and taxes and other issues that should be the crux of Sunday’s event. Hillary, though, will not leave it alone, nor should she. This is exactly why we need a strong woman as president. The country needs to get over the female leader barrier in the same way that we’ve smashed the race barrier at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Perhaps this means that we’ll get the landslide election we clearly deserve.

Senator Harry Reid – Donald Trump “Raped and Pillaged Atlantic City”

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has never been one to mince his words. In a conference call with reporters on Thursday, Reid let loose on the Republican’s choice to run the country, telling reporters that Trump “raped and pillaged Atlantic City.”

“Nothing is embarrassing to him,” Reid said on the call as quoted by Business Insider. He went on to double down on his criticism of Trump’s mispronunciation of “Nevada” at a rally in Reno. “If Trump doesn’t know how to pronounce the name of our state, how would Nevadans expect him to look out for our state?”

Reid also called Trump a “fraud” who “thinks he’s above the requirement of being candid with the American people” for refusing to release his tax returns.

“He raped and pillaged Atlantic City,” Reid said, referring to Trump’s bankruptcy filings for his casino holdings in New Jersey. “Who knows what his tax returns would show?”

The Washington Post – “Donald Trump is a bigot and a racist”

The Washington Post – Let’s not mince words: Donald Trump is a bigot and a racist.

Some will think this an outrageous label to apply to the frontrunner for a major party’s presidential nomination. Ordinarily, I would agree that name-calling is part of what’s wrong with our politics.

But there is a greater imperative not to be silent in the face of demagoguery. Trump in this campaign has gone after African Americans, immigrants, Latinos, Asians, women, Muslims and now the disabled. His pattern brings to mind the famous words of Martin Neimoller, the pastor and concentration camp survivor (“First they came for the socialists…”) that Ohio Gov. John Kasich adroitly used in a video last week attacking Trump’s hateful broadsides.

It might be possible to explain away any one of Trump’s outrages as a mistake or a misunderstanding. But at some point you’re not merely saying things that could be construed as bigoted: You are a bigot.

Zika Virus Linked to Rare Immune System Disorder in Adults

Vice News reports that in January, Colombia saw an unusual increase in cases of Guillain-Barre Syndrome, a rare disorder where a person’s immune system attacks the nervous system, in some cases temporarily paralyzing the body and requiring hospitalization.

As in neighboring Brazil and Venezuela, the uptick in Colombia happened at the same time as a local Zika outbreak, leading experts to begin searching for a connection. Researchers have since rushed to find out more, and a new report published Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine outlines the most compelling evidence to date linking the mosquito-borne virus to the debilitating disorder.

The study analyzed 68 patients with Guillain-Barre syndrome this year at six Colombian hospitals. Researchers determined the presence of Zika infection in those patients offered enough evidence to support the idea that the virus sparks the onset of the syndrome.

“The fact that we found Zika infection in those patients is good evidence that Zika may contribute to development of the disease,” said Beatriz Parra, one of the study’s authors and a researcher at Universidad del Valle in Colombia. As she explained, the evidence strongly supports a link between Zika and Guillain-Barre syndrome.

7-Year-Old Girl With Disabilities Heckled at Trump Rally

Yep! Trump and his supporters just figured out a way to dive even lower in the gutter! They not only picked on a little girl, but a little girl with disabilities. She couldn’t escape their wrath.

A Colorado woman says she was disappointed to be escorted away from Donald Trump’s rally in Loveland Monday by U.S. Secret Service.

Jennifer Mau and her 7-year-old daughter, who has disabilities, say they attended the rally as an undecided family, wanting to know more about the Republican candidate for president.

Her daughter was born without a jaw bone or ears and receives her nutrients from a feeding tube.

Amid the rally, however, Mau decided to leave with her daughter. Mau said that drew the ire of those surrounding her.

When we were leaving, somebody said, ‘Why are you leaving?’ and basically struck a nerve,” Mau said. “I said, ‘Why are you here? He makes fun of people like you.'”

Several people yelled at her – one followed her, telling her if she loved her daughter she should vote for Trump — until she said Secret Service escorted her out of the rally.

Mau said she was saddened to be harassed for standing up for her daughter with disabilities, but she said she was happy to see some people walk out with her, saying her daughter is beautiful.

So Mike Pence Won Because he “Looked Presidential?” Give Me a Break

As soon as the vice-presidential debate ended, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews called the debate for Republican vice-presidential candidate, Mike Pence. His reasoning made me sick to my stomach, so I changed the channel to see what CNN had to say and they too stated that Pence won.

I sat there shocked, totally amazed at the power of the media and the way this debate was spun to make the American people accept a Pence win.

The Spin? “Mike Pence looked more presidential.”

That’s all. That’s all the political pundits had to say about Pence after the debate was over. That’s all they wanted to see to decide who won the debate. A total disregard to the fact that Mike Pence was unable to prosecute the case for why Americans should put the Trump ticket in the White House.

Pence sat at the debate table and lied, and lied, and lied. He denied recorded facts about things Trump has said – things like banning all Muslims from coming into this country or when Trump called all Mexicans “rapers and killers.” Pence sat in his chair “looking all presidential” according to the talking-heads on MSNBC and CNN, and he lied to the American people when he was put on the spot by the Democratic vice president candidate, Tim Kaine. When Kaine asked why Trump calls women disparaging names for example, Pence looked the right into the camera and denied those recorded facts.

But he “looked presidential” so apparently, he won… according to the political talking heads.

Time Kaine on the other hand did his homework and it showed. He came to the debate armed with direct verbiage, quotes from Donald Trump and Mike Pence himself, and Kaine asked Pence to defend the things he and Trump say. Pence couldn’t, so he lied… again! Yes, Kaine interrupted Pence a few times, but wouldn’t you do the same if your opponent’s game plan was to “look presidential” and lie?

Americans know the game. Tim Kaine clearly won the debate. He was prepared, armed with facts and policies and he clearly expressed why Hillary Clinton should be the next president. But giving Kaine the win would not jive with the apparent talking point these pundits wanted to promote – that Mike Pence threw Donald Trump under the bus and is preparing himself for a top-of-the-ticket run in four years.

If all the pundits say this in unison, word will eventually get back to Donald Trump setting up the news for the rest of the week –  the inevitable credit Trump will take for Pence winning the VP debate.

And less than 24 hours after Pence was crowned the winner, Donald Trump spoke to his followers telling them that he deserves the credit.

“Mike Pence did an incredible job and I’m getting a lot of credit because that’s really my first so-called choice,”

“That was my first hire as we would say in Las Vegas, And I’ll tell you, he was phenomenal. He was cool, he was smart. He was meant to be doing what he’s doing and we’re very, very proud of Gov. Mike Pence.”

Hillary Clinton Answers 15-Year Old Girl’s Question on Trump’s Sexist Remarks

The question drew much applause from those in attendance in Pennsylvania where Hillary Clinton held a town-hall, and excited the Democratic presidential nominee, Based on her question, the 15-year-old girl at the microphone had obviously seen and heard some of the things Donald Trump said about women, and she compared those degrading statements to the those other girls in her school go through.

She wanted to know how girls should handle such sexist attacks.

“At my school, body image s a really big issue for girls my age. I see with my own eyes what Donald Trump does when he talks about women and how they look. As the first female president, how would you undo some of that damage and help girls understand they are so much more than what they look?”

After the question was asked, Clinton thanked the girl for asking that question before answering,

“My opponent has just taken this concern to a new level,” she continued. “Think about it, my opponent insulted Miss Universe. How do you get more acclaimed than that?”

Clinton said that women cannot take Trump’s comments seriously anymore.

“We need to laugh at it, we need to refute it, we need to ignore it and stand up to it, and especially the bullying,” Clinton said. “There are too many young women online who are being bullied about how they look and being shamed and mistreated.”

Tupac Said This about Trump in 1992 – It’s Still Relevant Today – Video

Unlike today’s entertainers, Tupac – one of the greatest rappers ever – was never afraid to delve into the land of politics and social injustices. In this MTV clip, Pac talked about greed and directly referenced today’s Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump.

Everybody’s taught that. You wanna be successful? You wanna be like Trump? Gimme gimme gimme, push push push push, step step step, crush crush crush. That’s how it all is… It’s too much money here. Nobody should be hitting the lotto for 36 million and we’ve got people starving in the streets. That’s not idealistic, that’s just real. That’s just stupid… There’s no way that these people should own planes and there are people who don’t have houses.

Georgia Elementary School Teacher Fired for Calling Michelle Obama a “Gorilla”

Don’t worry, this racist is sure to find new work at Fox News!

A release from Forsyth County Schools says: “Racism and discrimination are not tolerated in our school district. We are committed to ongoing staff training on the acceptance of all individuals. As this is a personnel matter, the district will provide no further comment.”

Allen threw herself into the spotlight when she wrote a response to the Facebook site Opposing Views, which noted that First Lady Obama continues to top the list of most admired women in the world.

“Do you admire her?” Opposing Views asked.

One of Allen’s response is:

“I admire a gorilla more than I admire her. (Wait, I forgot. She is a gorilla)! If she was a real First Lady, she would not have used and abused her title, by thinking that she is entitled to go on all the trips that she takes every other day. But most of all wasted all of our tax payers money. She is the worst example of a First Lady ever! (Or sorry, I meant gorilla, not First Lady)!”

Donald Trump Suggests Vets “Can’t Handle” Toll of Combat

Walked past a Donald Trump building in Manhattan today and saw a bunch of protesters holding signs in support of veterans. I thought, the donald must have pissed off yet another group of Americans. I came and checked online only to find that Trump had some rather disheartening things to say about America’s Vets!

Donald Trump on Monday suggested veterans with PTSD “can’t handle” the psychological toll of combat. The Republican nominee — who benefitted from four deferments from the draft during the Vietnam War — was apparently trying to convey sympathy for veterans with PTSD, but tripped over his own faux-machismo.

Asked by an audience member if he’d support a “more holistic approach to solve the problems of veteran suicide and PTSD,” Trump responded that “a lot of people can’t handle it (combat), and they see horror stories, they see events that you couldn’t see in a movie, nobody would believe it.”

“When people come back from war and combat and they see maybe what the people in this room have seen many times over, and you’re strong and you can handle it,” he told the audience of veterans at a town hall-style event in Virginia hosted by the Retired American Warriors PAC. “We need … mental health help and medical.”

Rudy Giuliani – Trump is Better for Economy “than a woman”

Show of hands. Who among us is surprised by this latest statement from the Republican presidential nominee’s top adviser, Rudy Giuliani? Who? Anyone? No one? Now that’s just sad that we all know the lowdown, dirty life-form Rudy identifies with. His sexist, racist ways are no secret.

Top Trump adviser Rudy Giuliani referred to the Republican nominee as “a man who has this kind of economic genius,” contrasting the GOP hopeful with Hillary Clinton, referring to the Democratic candidate as “a woman” who only produces work for the FBI.

Speaking of reports that Donald Trump claimed a $916 million loss on his 1995 income taxes, Giuliani said: “Don’t you think a man who has this kind of economic genius is a lot better for the United States than a woman — and the only thing she’s ever produced is a lot of work for the FBI checking out her emails?”

Trump Foundation Ordered to Stop Fundraising IMMEDIATELY

I mean, Donald Trump brags all the time about how rich he is… billions of dollars he claims he owns. If that is truly the case – and a lot of people say it isn’t –  why has he turned to small donors to fuel his failing campaign? And if donors are asked to send their last $20.00 to the Republican candidate for president, why isn’t Donald Trump following the necessary laws to accept such donations?

Although Trump is floating high in his Republican circles he is not above the law. And New York’s attorney general is assisting in his crash back to earth.

The state’s attorney general has notified Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump that his charitable foundation is violating New York law because it does not have the proper certification to solicit donations, The Washington Post first reported.

James Sheehan, head of the attorney general’s charities bureau, sent the notice to the foundation on Friday.

The notice follows a story that The Washington Post published last week that showed the foundation had been soliciting donations without being properly registered in New York state.

The Trump campaign released a statement on Monday following the attorney general’s announcement that questioned the “political motives” behind the investigation into the foundation.

“While we remain very concerned about the political motives behind AG [Eric] Schneiderman’s investigation, the Trump Foundation nevertheless intends to cooperate fully with the investigation,” Hope Hicks, the campaign’s spokeswoman, said in a statement.
