Republican Chairman Calls The Republican Debates a “Traveling Circus”

Reince Priebus also said that the Republicans are going to pick their own moderators for the debates, you know, people who won’t be posing tough questions to the Republican presidential candidates. Questions like what are your plans for the country if you become president?

My only question is, will there be enough people on Fox “News” to “moderate” all these Republican debates?

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said Thursday that his party will be more vigilant in 2016 about selecting debate moderators.

Speaking at the Republican Leadership Conference, Priebus name-checked MSNBC’s Chris Matthews and said the days of people like him hosting debates are over.

He also said the party needs to have fewer debates than in previous years.

“How many people here think we need 23 debates?” Priebus said. “Here’s what we’re going to do: we’re going to take this 23-debate traveling circus, and we’re going to pick the moderators.”

Priebus previously threatened to withhold debates from CNN and NBC (MSNBC’s parent network) when they were planning projects based on Hillary Clinton. Both projects were later canceled.

RNC Chairman Says Paul Ryan Should be “Commended” For Calling Minority Men Lazy

Come on.  Did you really expect Reince Priebus to disagree with Ryan?

Priebus made an appearance on CNN over the weekend and responded to the controversial hole Paul Ryan dug for himself when he casually said that the inner cities, “generations of men” are “not even thinking about working or learning the value and the culture of work.” Priebus – who once proclaimed that the Republican party needs to do more to reach Blacks, Latinos, Women and younger people – couldn’t use the opportunity to denounce Ryans racist statement. Instead, he commended the racism.

On Sunday, CNN’s Candy Crowley asked Priebus if he thought the remarks were “artfully phrased.”

“I’m not sure,” Priebus shrugged. “Here’s what I would say, why was Paul even talking about this? The reason he was talking about it is he devoted a large part of his life — starting back when he worked for Jack Kemp — on finding ways to tackle poverty, to free up capital, to create opportunities in urban areas around this country.”

“Whatever race, whatever gender, we are the ones leading the way, I think, in this country on these issues,” he added. “And so I commend Paul for his work that he’s doing around country.”

Another MSNBC Employee Fired Over Right-Wing Made Up Hysteria

MSNBC is at it again. Bowing to the blowback of the right-wing lunatics and again, apparently firing another employee. This time, the network fired someone over a tweet. Yes a tweet.

In 2013, Cheerios made a commercial using an interracial family. The blowback from the racists was unbelievable. The ad however, was a total success prompting Cheerios to release another. Referencing the second ad, someone on Wednesday used the official MSNBC Twitter handle and tweeted this;

“Maybe the rightwing will hate it, but everyone else will go awww: the adorable new #Cheerios ad w/ biracial family.”

The Republican party and the right winged media went even more nuts. Reince Priebus, RNC Chairman immediately wrote a letter to MSNBC and called for a boycott of the station. That’s all that was needed, as MSNBC again, bowed to the manufactured Republican pushback on a non-issue.

And earlier today Phil Griffin, head of MSNBC issued the following statement;

The tweet last night was outrageous and unacceptable. we immediately acknowledged that it was offensive and wrong, apologized and deleted it. We have dismissed the person responsible for the tweet.

I personally apologized to Mr. Priebus and to everyone offended. At MSNBC, we believe in passionate, strong debate about the issues and we invite voices from all sides to participate, that will never change.

Chalk yet another one up for the made up hysteria of the Republican right wing.
