A California mom sparked an online firestorm when a picture of the bodybuilder lifting weights at 8 months pregnant were posted on Facebook.
Lea-Anne Ellison, 35, was just two weeks shy of her due date when a photo of her posing with a barbell over her head was posted to a group page on the social media site on Sunday.
“8 months pregnant with baby number 3 and CrossFit has been my sanity,” Ellison wrote in the caption. “I have been CrossFitting for 2 1/2 years and…strongly believe that pregnancy is not an illness, but a time to relish in your body’s capabilities to kick ass.”
But a slew of commenters posted angry greivances on the picture — which boasted more than 16,000 likes and almost 3,000 shares by Friday morning.
“This is actually sickening, I hope pregnant around the world do not do this kind of crap,” one woman wrote. “I am a crossfit enthusiast but I DO NOT recommend this at all.”
The person continued by claiming the image gives “people the wrong message that this is OKAY when it’s not!!!!”

Dr. Gupta writes: Over the last year, I have been working on a new documentary called “Weed.” The title “Weed” may sound cavalier, but the content is not.
I traveled around the world to interview medical leaders, experts, growers and patients. I spoke candidly to them, asking tough questions. What I found was stunning.
Long before I began this project, I had steadily reviewed the scientific literature on medical marijuana from the United States and thought it was fairly unimpressive. Reading these papers five years ago, it was hard to make a case for medicinal marijuana. I even wrote about this in a TIME magazine article, back in 2009, titled “Why I would Vote No on Pot.”
Well, I am here to apologize.
I apologize because I didn’t look hard enough, until now. I didn’t look far enough. I didn’t review papers from smaller labs in other countries doing some remarkable research, and I was too dismissive of the loud chorus of legitimate patients whose symptoms improved on cannabis.
Instead, I lumped them with the high-visibility malingerers, just looking to get high. I mistakenly believed the Drug Enforcement Agency listed marijuana as a schedule 1 substance because of sound scientific proof. Surely, they must have quality reasoning as to why marijuana is in the category of the most dangerous drugs that have “no accepted medicinal use and a high potential for abuse.”
They didn’t have the science to support that claim, and I now know that when it comes to marijuana neither of those things are true. It doesn’t have a high potential for abuse, and there are very legitimate medical applications. In fact, sometimes marijuana is the only thing that works. Take the case of Charlotte Figi, who I met in Colorado. She started having seizures soon after birth. By age 3, she was having 300 a week, despite being on seven different medications. Medical marijuana has calmed her brain, limiting her seizures to 2 or 3 per month.
I have seen more patients like Charlotte first hand, spent time with them and come to the realization that it is irresponsible not to provide the best care we can as a medical community, care that could involve marijuana.
We have been terribly and systematically misled for nearly 70 years in the United States, and I apologize for my own role in that.
I hope this article and upcoming documentary will help set the record straight.
Michelle Obama is an accomplished lawyer, mother of two and, of course, the first lady. And now, she’s adding hip-hop artist to her impressive resume.
The first lady is lending her star power to a new rap album to inspire people to live healthier, more active lives.
Before you get your hopes up too high, no, the first lady does not actually rap on the album. But she is playing a speaking role in a new song titled “Everybody,” featuring Jordin Sparks, Doug E. Fresh, Dr. Oz and the Hip Hop Doc.
Obama teamed up with Partnership for a Healthier America to make the album as part of her Let’s Move! healthy eating initiative.
The record, “Songs for a Healthier America,” features music by Matisyahu, Travis Barker, Artie Green, Ashanti and Monifah, among others, and includes songs titled “U R What You Eat,” “Veggie Luv” and “Hip Hop F.E.E.T.”
A US team found tell-tale signs on scans that have already been seen in adults with the condition.
And these brain differences could be a cause rather than a consequence of dyslexia – something unknown until now – the Journal of Neuroscience reports.
Scans could allow early diagnosis and intervention, experts hope.
The part of the brain affected is called the arcuate fasciculus.
Among the 40 school-entry children they studied they found some had shrinkage of this brain region, which processes word sounds and language.
They asked the same children to do several different types of pre-reading tests, such as trying out different sounds in words.
Those children with a smaller arcuate fasciculus had lower scores.
It is too early to say if the structural brain differences found in the study are a marker of dyslexia. The researchers plan to follow up groups of children as they progress through school to determine this.
Lead researcher Prof John Gabrieli said: “We don’t know yet how it plays out over time, and that’s the big question.
“We do not know how many of these children will go on to develop problems. But anyway, we want to intervene before that, and the younger you do that the better. We already know that reading programmes and interventions can really help.”
Everyone has heard of Bayer aspirin, it is a household name. Bayer AG also manufactures numerous other products, from pesticides to medicine for hemophiliacs called Factor 8.
In 1984 Bayer became aware that several batches of this Factor 8 contained HIV. They knew this because there was an outbreak of HIV among hemophiliac children, and this outbreak was traced back to Bayer.
Unable to sell their Factor 8 in the US, Bayer, with the FDA’s permission, (yes that’s right, the FDA allowed Bayer to potentially kill thousands) sold this HIV infected medicine to Argentina, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore after February 1984, according to the documents obtained by the NY Times. The documents showed how Cutter Biological, a division of Bayer, shipped more than 100,000 vials of unheated concentrate, worth more than $4 million, after it began selling the safer product.

The big secret for enhancing your ability to build muscles is the right type of food, of course strength training is still a must if you are aiming to create a lean, muscular physique.
Select high quality proteins, fats, and carbohydrates and definitely ditch junk food for better and faster results.
Many healthy foods help you put on lean muscle, but these ten are easily incorporated into any diet.
Poultry
Some sources of protein can be high in saturated fat, too much of which can cause fat gain and raise your cholesterol levels. Chicken breast and lean turkey are lean sources of protein with minimal saturated fat.
SALMON
It’s swimming with high quality protein and omega-3 fatty acids, which can decrease muscle-protein breakdown after your workout, improving recovery. To build muscle you need to store new protein faster than your body breaks down the old stuff.
Oatmeal
Oatmeal is high in fiber, which makes you feel fuller longer. When training to build muscle, you need to consume about 55 to 60 percent of your calories from carbohydrates to fuel your workouts.
ALMONDS
Almonds are one of the best sources of vitamin E, a potent antioxidant, that can help prevent free-radical damage after heavy workouts. The fewer hits taken from free radicals, the faster your muscles will recover from a workout and start growing.
Yogurt
Plain, low-fat yogurt provides your body with the essential bone-building mineral calcium, eating yogurt may help you lean down due to the high content of a specific amino acid called leucine.
OLIVE OIL
The monounsaturated fat in olive oil appears to prevent muscle breakdown by lowering levels of a sinister cellular protein linked with muscle wasting and weakness.
Whey
Whey protein powder comes from the liquid leftover during the cheese-making process. This protein source is easily digested and contains all the amino acids you need to help build muscle.
Cottage Cheese
Cottage cheese contains a mixture of whey and casein, the two proteins found in milk. These two proteins help stimulate muscle growth.
COFFEE
Fueling your workout with caffeine will help you work longer, it is believed that caffeine directly stimulates the muscles. Skip it if you have a history of high blood pressure, though.
Eggs
Eggs are rich in the amino acid tryptophan which helps you get a restful night’s sleep, and also contains about 6 grams of protein each.
Adequate rest is essential to muscle growth as it allows your body to repair. Eggs also provide numerous vitamins, minerals and the antioxidant lutein to support eye health.
