Greedy John Boehner Cheers On Supreme Court’s “Money is Speech” Ruling

I call him greedy because now that the Supreme Court has decided that anyone with enough money can give any amount they want to a particular campaign, Boehner is seeing dollar signs.

With that decision, the Supreme Court doubled down on their Citizens United decision,  where they proclaimed Corporations – you know, those flesh and blood entities built by actual human beings that need to be registered to do business – the Supreme Court in their Citizens United decision called those entities “people,” and thus,  able to contribute unlimited amounts of dollars to any SuperPAC that supports their candidate.

Today, the Court took another step in their Conservative activism, their continuous effort to silent democracy and the voice of the people. Today, the Supreme Court took us one dtep closer to turning our democracy into an oligarchy.

Their 5-4 decision will allow anyone to give an unlimited amount of cash to anyone running for office, because, according to the decision, restricting the amount given would be the same as restricting freedom of speech.

So not only have they redefined “people” with Citizens United, this Republican led Court effectively redefined speech to mean money. And the more money you have, the louder your voice becomes. And if you can shout louder than everyone else, then your voice becomes the voice the politicians listen to and your priorities magically becomes theirs… because… money!

But don’t just take my word,  listen to the politicians as they praise the fall of democracy. John Boehner praised the decision, claiming that “freedom of speech is being upheld.”

“What I think this means is that freedom of speech is being upheld. You all have the freedom to write what you want to write. Donors ought to have the freedom to give what they want to give.”

And the people who will receive these gifts of course, are politicians. Especially those in leadership positions like John Boehner – Speaker of the House of Representatives. Imagine being rich enough to buy the Speaker of the House! Imagine how much shouting your money can do then!

The US Navy is Gearing Up in The Ukraine

With Russian forces already in the area, the US Navy is now getting involved.

The U.S. Navy is sending a destroyer into the Black Sea in the coming days as a symbolic gesture of support for Ukraine and other allies in the region, according to two senior defense officials.

The USS Donald Cook, a guided missile destroyer based in Rota, Spain, and will travel to the Black Sea “in the next week or so,” according to one senior defense official.

The ship will take part in to-be-scheduled exercises with allies in the region — most likely pass exercises, where ships from different nations pass one another while at sea — and the Donald Cook will make several to-be-scheduled port calls.

“Love The Skin You’re In” – Plus Size Woman Shows Off Her Curves on Hollywood Blvd

“You cannot seek validation from other people,” she said. “This world is very cruel. You must seek validation within yourself and be kind to yourself.”

Those are the words of 21-year-old Amani Terrell, a 260 lbs woman who put on her bikini on Tuesday and walked the street of Hollywood Blvd. Her message? “Love the skin you’re in.”

Speaking about LA women, Terrell said, “that’s all you see are thin women. I came up with this idea because I live in Hollywood and there’s this mass hysteria of perfection in this town. There’s a misconception that big women have low self-esteem. I don’t have low self-esteem.”

Of course there were some who took offense to Terrell’s display, but their disapproval had no effect. “I still love myself regardless” she said.

New York UPS Fires 250 Workers Because They Held a 90 Minutes Protest

UPS has delivered a special message to 250 of its Queens drivers: You’re fired!

The Atlanta-based company is booting 250 of its unionized drivers from its Maspeth facility because they walked off the job for 90 minutes Feb. 26 to protest the dismissal of a long-time employee, UPS told the Daily News.

Twenty employees were terminated Monday after their shifts — and the remaining 230 notified that they’ll be canned as soon as replacements are trained, a company spokesman said.

“They just called me in … (and) said, ‘Effective immediately, you are no longer on the payroll,’” said Steve Curcio, 41, a 20-year employee earning $32 an hour.

The mass firing has enraged Tim Sylvester, head of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 804, especially since the company gets some lucrative perks from the city.

United Parcel Service has a contract worth $43 million to provide delivery services to city and state agencies, according to documentation from city officials.

Supreme Court’s Decision – No Limits on Campaign Contributions

In addition to citizens united, here’s more proof that the American democracy is for sale to the highest bidder.

The Conservative led Supreme Court ruled 5-4, in a decision written by Chief Justice John Roberts, that limits on the total amount of money donors can give to all candidates, committees and political parties are unconstitutional. The decision frees the nation’s wealthiest donors to have greater influence in federal elections.

The decision in McCutcheon v. Federal Election Commission marks the latest round in the bitter national debate over the role of money in American politics. It’s the most important campaign-finance ruling since the high court’s 2010 Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission ruling allowed corporations and unions to spend unlimited amounts independently to influence elections…

The decision was a victory for the Republican National Committee and Alabama businessman Shaun McCutcheon, who challenged the $123,200 cap on contributions an individual can give to all federal candidates, parties and political action committees in a two-year election cycle.

There are some things you just shouldn’t joke about. A school shooting is one of those things.

Oh, Red Sox Fan!

Did Jacoby Ellsbury get a job on Wall Street or is the Red Sox fan just an idiot? Is Ellsbury a trader? Or is he a TRAITOR? Hmmm.

I have to admit, it took some time because I was so focused on “Trader.” This “fan” also spelt Ellsbury’s name wrong.

Nick Cannon Explains His “White People Party Music” Album

Nick Cannon was recently involved in a stunt that had many on the Internet calling him “racist.” The stunt – a picture showing Cannon wearing makeup to appear white – definitely caused some controversy,  but got Cannon the publicity he was after to promote the album.

In an exclusive interview, Cannon explained the decision and why he chose the name, White People Party Music for his album.

“I hoped people would give me a hard time [Laughs]. That’s the whole purpose. It’s just a fun album with a fun title that doesn’t take itself too seriously. At the same time it makes a statement. I always say white people love me, and they know how to have a good time.

Being a DJ, you name all your different crates and playlists. That’s the way I came up with the title. I have bar mitzvah music, trap music, ratchet music and one that says white people party music. And I said to myself, ‘You know, I’m going to name my album that.’ The album could have been titled Purple People Party Music. It’s just a bunch of feel-good songs that tap into the many different places that I’ve been in my life.”
