House Democratic Whip – “Democrats Will Stand Strong on [ObamaCare]”

House Democratic Whip Stany Hoyer went on The Ed Show on Tuesday and reassured everyone that the Democrats are sticking together in opposition against the Republicans and their attacks against Obamacare.

Republicans took the unprecedented step of including a defunding measure of the health care law in their version of a Continuing Resolution, knowing their antic would gurantee a government shutdown.

Host Ed Schultz, in his introduction of Mr Hoyer asked, “is there any way Democrats are going to let Boehner chip away at Obamacare?”

My. Hoyer answered convincingly, “No!” He then went on to say that Democrats are going to “stand strong” on the law. And he assured the audience that Democrats are not going to allow the law to be “turned around or repealed.”

Senator Bernie Sanders on Senate Floor Rails Against The Republican “Blackmail” – Video

Senator Bernie Sanders took to the Senate floor and renamed the Republican government shutdown for what it really is… Blackmail!

This debate is not about the Affordable Care Act. That is something that should be debated, I think it’s something that can be improved. What this debate is about is blackmail and hostage-taking. What my Republican colleagues, especially the right winged extremists in the House are upset about, is not so much Obamacare, what they are upset about is that the lost the election in November.

President Obama won by some 5 million votes! The lost seats, Republicans lost in the Senate, they lost some seats in the House. What they are upset about is that the cannot legislatively accomplish what they want through the normal legislative process. What legislation is about is the House passes a bill, the Senate passes a bill, they get together work on something, the president signs it. They don’t have the support to do that!

So what they have now concluded is that the only way they can go forward is to say if we don’t get our way, if we don’t shutdown the United States government and kill Obamacare or delay Obamacare, why that’s the only game in town, that’s all that we’re gonna do. We can’t do it no other way.

Good Thing About Government Shutdown – KKK Rally Cancelled

If this is all we have to do to get the KKK to cancel a rally, then I’ll be the first to suggest a government shutdown every other week!

A planned Ku Klux Klan rally at a historic landmark of American history won’t happen due to the federal government shutdown.

The KKK event at Gettysburg National Military Park was canceled due to the government stalemate.

Park officials said they rescinded all permits for special events because of the shutdown that began Tuesday.

The permit had been approved for a Maryland-based KKK group, the Confederate White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, for a Saturday gathering.

Park officials had defended granting the permit, saying they have a responsibility to make the land available for citizens to exercise their right to freedom of speech, even if the views expressed are contrary to those of most Americans.

President Obama Calls Out Republicans’ “Ideological Crusade” on Obamacare

President Obama slammed House Republicans on Tuesday, accusing them of shutting down the government over an “ideological crusade” on healthcare.

Speaking to reporters in the Rose Garden, an irate Obama placed blame squarely on congressional Republicans and said the shutdown did not have to happen.

The longer it continued, he warned, “the worse the effects will be.”
Obama also maintained that he would “not give in to reckless demands” from House Republicans to repeal or delay the Affordable Care Act.

“They don’t get to hold the entire economy hostage over ideological demands,” Obama said.

He characterized the shutdown as boiling down to Republicans efforts to roll back ObamaCare.

“This more than anything else seems to be what the Republican Party stands for these days,” Obama said.

“I know it’s strange that one party would make keeping people uninsured the centerpiece of their agenda but that apparently is what it is. And of course what’s stranger still is that shutting down our government doesn’t accomplish their stated goal.”

Contrary to Republican beliefs, Obama said, the healthcare law “hasn’t destroyed our economy.”

Obama also reiterated that he would not negotiate over raising the debt ceiling. The Treasury Department has said Congress must lift the borrowing limit by Oct. 17.

Poll: Americans Strongly oppose The Republican Engineered Shutdown

The poll taken by Quinnipiac shows that by a 3-1 margin, Americans all over this nation disagree with the government shutdown and how the Republicans have been systematically bringing this nation to its knees.

American voters oppose 72 – 22 percent Congress shutting down the federal government to block implementation of the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today.

Voters also oppose 64 – 27 percent blocking an increase in the nation’s debt ceiling as a way to stop Obamacare, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds.

Government Closed (In Need of Repair)

It’s been 17-years since the Government decided to Shutdown and, low and behold, a Democrat was in the White House. Bill Clinton was in his Final Term when the Republicans decided to put hundreds of thousands of Americans out of work and turn a prosperous economic outlook into a spiraling plunge downwards.

I watched a great deal of cable news shows on September 30th with some calling the looming Government failure, ‘The Shutdown Countdown’. On one side of the picture-in-picture view was the clock was ticking. The other view showed Congress Members PRETENDING to be negotiating a deal to keep the Government at work.

I say PRETENDING because newly appointed and anointed Pointman, Sen. Ted Cruz –Texas (R), gave the marching orders in a 21-hour Dr. Seuss laden FULLA-buster to the House and Senate, to shutdown the Government unless President Obama relinquished the Obamacare LAW or delay it for a year along with other Tea Party and Republican mandates written into their budgetary plans.

In holding the Nation Hostage, the Republicans caved to the new face of Their party and shut the government down. An estimated 800,000 federal employees are going to be furloughed and around $200-$300 million a day will be lost.

Back in 2011, when faced with this same dilemma of a government shutdown, Republican Speaker of the House, John Boehner stated it would be More costly to shut down the government than to keep it operating. Well, it appears he and the rest of his Republican cohorts don’t care about the cost or the lives of millions who will be affected.

Jobs have been held at bay and lives have been disrupted. And now the economy will take another hit. The Stock Market, which had been on the upswing for months, will definitely stall and fall. With all the recent positive momentum in the economy, jobs and housing, Republicans are determined to eliminate them all in one cowardice swoop, all in the name of Destroying a President.

In hindsight, this may have been the plan all along.

This whole Obstructionistic Movement began when President Barack Obama was elected in 2008. Mitch McConnell, Republican Senate from Kentucky, made the declaration during President Obama’s First Term that their main focus was to make Obama a one-term President. They Failed. But while they attempted to obstruct and undermine President Obama in his First Term, Obama passed key legislation such as the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, 2009, Wall Street Reform in 2010 and of course, The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare –named ‘affectionately’ by the Republican critics), 2010 just to name a few.

While the president made all these improvements, the Republican members of Congress in both the House and Senate, have done Zero in the way of Progress. No Jobs Bills which was supposedly their platform when Mitt Romney was running against the President in 2012. Immigration Reform is a distant memory… again. Gun control is a Non Subject. Equal pay and minimum wage increases aren’t even uttered on the Senate floor. But what is? Benghazi, the NSA scandal, IRS scandal, Syria’s near war moment, Impeaching the President, etc.

On the surface, it appears the only thing the Republican and Tea Party members of congress are doing is stalling out this term of the Presidency. Their aim is to tarnish Obama’s Legacy, obstruct his every move and disallow any positive progression this country had established.

In reality, that’s what they are doing. In their HATRED for 1 Man, they’ve decided to shutdown the Government hoping Americans will blame this President for their despicable and deplorable decision.

With misinformation and lies, the Republicans and Tea Party have injected their base with the very venom that the King’s of Hate have hoped for. The Hannity’s, the O’Reilly’s, the Limbaugh’s have finally galvanized a movement and their small coalition of hate minions is wreaking havoc on millions nationwide.

The Tea Party/Republican actions are a gamble by them but their ardent supporters are applauding them richly. From the folks on Fox News to their support group, they bkame the President and the Democratic Party. But when you look at what the Republican base has done, it causes one to ponder the mind and the heart of the Republican Party. Cutting the Food Stamp Program, the SNAP Program, attempting still to place Medicare on a Voucher Program and more. It’s not just Obamacare, it’s that they JUST DON’T CARE!

This Shutdown of Government is proof. Holding a country hostage because they don’t like the President or Obamacare is not the way to run a Government…unless the goal is to run the Government in the ground.

Congratulations #TeaGOP; you’re succeeding in that.

Frankly, I’m Fed Up with the Hatred! I’m Fed Up with the 5 ½ years of Obstruction. I’m Fed Up with the Extremism in our Government nationally and locally. I’m Fed Up with the cuts to Programs that help the Masses and will affect Millions. I’m Fed Up with theis Republican party changing Voting Rights, affecting Women’s Rights, Students Rights, Elderly Rights, Veterans, Teachers, Minorities, etc. I’m SO Fed Up that I’m on a Mission to spread the word to Friends, Family, Co-Workers, Church Members – VOTE! The only way we can change the playing field is to Vote out Extremism, Vote Out Obstructionism, VOTE OUT HATE!

If you don’t like it, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! VOTE!

What Free Speech? Republicans Shut down Hillary Clinton Documentary

Celebrating the shutting down of production on documentaries by a political party that claims to champion free speech is, at the very least, hypocritical. But that’s what the Republican Part is doing now that both HBO and NBC have put documentaries about Hillary Clinton on ice.

Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus said his party “won a major victory against the mainstream media” Monday after NBC and CNN canceled plans for programming about Hillary Clinton.

The RNC had threatened to blackball NBC and CNN from participation in Republican primary debates for the next presidential election if they had fulfilled their plans of a miniseries, in the case of NBC, and a documentary, in the case of CNN.

On Monday, Preibus seemed convinced that it was the RNC’s threat that encouraged the two networks to drop their plans, though neither CNN nor NBC cited the RNC as the reason for abandoning their projects about Clinton, the former first lady, U.S. senator and U.S. secretary of state.

Why should NBC or CNN care if the Republican Party doesn’t want their debates on those networks? The party has more to lose from not having the widest distribution possible.

Republicans Shut Down The Government… Again!

The bad news is, the Republicans shut down the Government. The good news is Obamacare goes into effect today.

White House ordered federal agencies to shut down Monday night, with congressional negotiators unable to strike an agreement before the midnight deadline to keep the government open.

Office of Management and Budget Director Sylvia Burwell directed agency and departmental heads to execute their plans for an “orderly shutdown” of the federal government in a memo released by the administration.

The notice came shortly after Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) rejected a last-ditch Republican plan to appoint conferees to negotiate a short-term continuing resolution. The final gambit came after the Senate repeatedly rejected attempts by House Republicans to link the continued funding of government to rolling back ObamaCare.

Burwell said she was ordering the action because there was no “clear indication” that Congress would strike an agreement on a continuing resolution before the end of the day Tuesday.

“We urge Congress to act quickly to pass a Continuing Resolution to provide a short-term bridge that ensures sufficient time to pass a budget for the remainder of the fiscal year, and to restore the operation of critical public services and programs that will be impacted by a lapse in appropriations,” Burwell said in a statement.

The White House said it would continue to closely monitor developments and issue agencies further guidance as appropriate.

It seems that every time there is a Democrat in the White House, Republicans shut down the government. The last government shutdown was at the hands of Republicans when Bill Clinton was the president.

Something To Cry About: The GOP Shuts Down Washington

“Yeah–you better cry!”

Sitting on the sidelines with the rest of America, slowly taking in the fact that the GOP House has just shutdown the Federal government, I’m wondering what their real point was.

Right now the Republican Party aka The Tea Party, is coming off as a bunch of frat brothers raising hell on campus during a wild night of hazing and partying. A dumbbell mentality of mob rule and terrorism, simply because they have the newfound ability and power to do so.

No strategy, no compromising, no sensible plan A, B or even C. Just shouts of “Shut it down!” when the Senate refused to comply with a stop to the mandate of the Healthcare Reform Act in exchange for a continuing resolution to pay the country’s bills on time.

Speaking shortly before the first House vote Monday, Boehner said the measure to delay the mandate was about fairness.

“I would say to the president: This is not about me. This is not about Republicans here in Congress. It’s about fairness for the American people.”

But a recent survey of the American people conducted over the weekend begs to differ. About 60 percent of the 803 U.S. adults polled said they want lawmakers to “pass a budget agreement to avoid the shutdown!”

It had to be obvious to any GOPer with brains that the party would bear the brunt of the blame for this shutdown. What is the Republican plan to offset that blame, or have they not even thought that far ahead?

And now that they have proven that they can shutdown an entire government, what’s the Tea Party’s next mission for the hostage-looking Speaker Boehner?

We do finally know one thing for sure. What all John Boehner’s crying was about.

ObamaCare in Full Effect – Video

Despite the best efforts of the House Republicans to defund ObamaCare by any means necessary, the Healthcare Reform Act is in full effect today.
The online comedy troupe Funny or Die put out a humourous public service announcement starring singer Jennifer Hudson, parodying the Olivia Pope character from the popular tv drama ‘Scandal’, to help persuade young Americans to sign up for coverage this year.
This is just one of many Hollywood-Obama joint initiatives that will be rolling out to assist the public in navigating around the new healthcare laws.
