Sentenced to Death, Boston Marathon Bomber Breaks His Silence in Court

Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev had a few things to say in court today for the killing of three people and injuring another 264 back in 2013 when he and his brother set bombs along the path of the Boston Marathon.

“I am sorry for the lives that I’ve taken, for the suffering that I’ve caused you, and the damage that I’ve done,” he said Wednesday during his sentencing hearing.

“I pray to Allah to bestow his mercy on you,” Tsarnaev said prior to Judge George O’Toole imposing the death sentence. “I pray for your relief, for your healing, for your well-being, for your health.”

He added: “I ask Allah for mercy for me and for my brother,” Tamerlan.

And just in case there are still those out there wondering whether Tsarnaev really committed the crime, the confirmation came straight from the horse’s mouth: “I am guilty of [the bombings], along with my brother, if there is any lingering doubt.”

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Found Guilty on All 30 Counts in The Boston Bombing

Remember when Republicans criticized the American judicial system as not being capable or equip to try and convict terrorists? It was very recently when President Obama wanted to try some of the Gitmo prisoners in the American court system. Well now, the American judicial system has once again proved Republicans wrong.

Shortly after he killed three people and wounded more than 250 others in the Boston Marathon bombing, surveillance images showed Dzhokhar Tsarnaev strolling through the aisles of Whole Foods to buy milk and smiling as he stopped by his college gym.

They were images of someone prosecutors described as a callous killer as they made their case against him.

It was a drastically different scene in court on Wednesday. The now 21-year-old Tsarnaev stood with his head bowed and his hands clasped, fidgeting as jurors dealt out a decisive verdict that could be the first step toward sending him to death row.

It was a decision they didn’t make quickly. It took the jury of seven women and five men 11½ hours of deliberations to reach a conclusion.

But when they did, they didn’t leave room for doubt about who was behind the 2013 attack, finding him guilty of all 30 counts that he faced in the deadly bombings and their aftermath.

Tsarnaev didn’t look at them as the verdict was read.

Boston Bomber Wrote “F*ck America” While Hiding In Boat

He thought he was going to die. And while feeling around in his hiding place, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev found a pen and wrote what he thought was his final message to the world, explaining why the bombings occured.

The 19-year-old found a pen in the boat but no paper so it was revealed today that he wrote his message on an interior wall of the boat that he used as shelter in Watertown.

His message was clear: ‘F*** America’.

In other portions of his message, ABC News reports that he wrote ‘Praise Allah’ and mentioned ‘infidels’ across the interior walls of the boat that are now riddled with bullets.

Law enforcement sources told CBS that Dzhokhar wrote that he ‘does not mourn’ the death of his older brother Tamerlan because he is a martyr living in ‘paradise’ and that he expected to join him there soon.

The note is a critical piece of evidence for police as it reiterates what Dzhokhar said to them  in the hospital after his arrest.

Boston Suspect Awake and Responding

It has been reported that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, Boston Suspect #2, is awake, in stable condition, and responding to questions through writing.

Tsarnaev is recovering from wounds at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center where earlier on Sunday, law officials claimed that Tsarnaev was not speaking due to being sedated because of his serious condition.

Now, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is awake and according to law officials,

responding sporadically in writing to questions … about other cell members and other unexploded bombs.

This is potentially great news as many were hoping he would be caught alive so that vital questions could be answered.

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick stated last Saturday,

We are hoping, for a host of reasons, that the suspect survives…Because we have a million questions, and those questions need to be answered.

It is expected that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will be charged with criminal terrorist activity and this may include charges on both the state and federal levels.

Whether or not the death penalty will be involved is unclear depending on if Tsarnaev will be charged on a federal level as Massachusetts has no death penalty.

Older brother and Bomb Suspect #1,Tamerlan Tsarnaev, died early Friday after a police shootout while attempting to escape. Tamerlan Tsarnev’s 6-month stay in Dagestan, Russia last year is currently being highly scrutinized and investigated as a possible connection to the Boston bombing attacks.
