Congressional Democrats Mark George Floyd’s Murder with Moment of Silence

George Floyd’s murder was broadcast on national television. Americans and the world watched in horror as one Minneapolis officer pressed his knee into George Floyd’s neck until the life left his body. Another officer stood watch, making sure no one interfered with the task at hand. And another two officers helped by holding Floyd’s lifeless body to the ground.

The killing sparked outrage, and Americans took to the street. This time, the protests felt different. This time, Americans of all races and ethnicities voiced their disgust in the way blacks in this country is treated. This time, even those in Congress… though only the Democrats… are paying attention.

Senate Democrats on Thursday held a moment of silence lasting eight minutes and 46 seconds, the amount of time that George Floyd was held down by a police officer, who kept his knee pressed on Mr. Floyd’s neck even after Mr. Floyd became unresponsive.

The moment was also meant to honor Ahmaud Arbery, the 25-year-old black man killed while running down a suburban street in Brunswick, Ga., and Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old black medical worker who was shot by the police at her home in Louisville, Ky.

Standing six feet apart next to a statue of Frederick Douglass in Emancipation Hall on Capitol Hill, it appeared to be the first moment the Democratic caucus had gathered in one place since the coronavirus pandemic began to spread through the Capitol.

Taylor Swift is Backing Democrats in November

You’d think these people should have no say. That they should go about making their millions and should keep their voice silent when it comes to politics and the direction  politicians are taking this country. Most celebrities stifle their voice and stay silent, others buck the norm and express their First Amendment right.

Taylor Swift is one entertainer who chose to exercise her 1st Amendment right. She went on Instagram and posted her support for two Democratic candidates. Swift, it should be noted,  has 112 million followers on Instagram.

In her post, Swift explained that she felt the need to speak up based on what has happened over the last two years.

“In the past, I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions,” Swift wrote, “but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now.” She continued; “I always have and always ill cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country. I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG.”

Swift explained that although she would like to support a woman candidate, Republican Marsha Blackburn “appalls” and “terrifies” her. Swift told the people of Tennessee that Blackburn “voted against equal pay for women. She voted against the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act” and more.

Taylor Swift ended her post saying, “I will be voting for Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives.” And she urged that her followers “educate yourself on the candidates running in your state and vote based on who most closely represents your values.”

“A City Upon A Hill?” Not With Trump Leading the Way – Video

If you’re anything like me, you try your best to avoid the ignorance coming out of the White House. But that is easier said than done, for on a daily, no hourly basis, Donald Trump and his Republicans are shoving the ignorance down our throat. It is their way of maintaining control of the government, for if the electorate is ignorant, then it is easily led… like sheep to the slaughter!

But his people love the ignorance! They foolishly dismiss Trump’s lies as truths, and they happily swallow his bucket of filth, content with the ongoing diminution of their sensibility. Trump takes no responsibility for anything he says or does, and everything is now dismissed as a “joke.” That is how Trump’s spokesperson, Sarah Huckabee Saunders characterized Trump’s use of the word Treason when he described Democrats who refused to applaud the dear leader in his State of the Union Address.

“It was obviously a joke,” Trump’s spokesperson said.

So if Trump was joking when he said Democrats committed treason and they do not love America because they refused to clap during his speech, why did the Trump reelection campaign create an ad based on Trump’s characterization of Democrats? How is this funny? How is it a “joke?”

Thanks to Donald Trump, this country is becoming morally bankrupt. We are now at a point where the President of the United States uses the word “treason” to refer to other elected members of government, and his lunacy is brushed off as a “joke.”

Will we ever get back to being a “city upon a hill,” having “the eyes of all people are upon us?” If Donald Trump and the Republicans have anything to do with it, my sad answer is, no.

From the brainchild of Donald Trump’s re-election campaign.

Democrats’ Only Choice – Fight Trump All The Way

Spurred by the American people and their constant protests against Donald Trump and his draconian ideas and policies, Congressional Democrats are slowly coming to terms with the only logical way to deal with Trump – become the party of NO!

Reduced to their weakest state in a generation, Democratic Party leaders will gather in two cities this weekend to plot strategy and select a new national chairman with the daunting task of rebuilding the party’s depleted organization. But senior Democratic officials concede that the blueprint has already been chosen for them — by an incensed army of liberals demanding no less than total war against President Trump.

Immediately after the November election, Democrats were divided over how to handle Mr. Trump, with one camp favoring all-out confrontation and another backing a seemingly less risky approach of coaxing him to the center with offers of compromise.

Now, spurred by explosive protests and a torrent of angry phone calls and emails from constituents — and outraged themselves by Mr. Trump’s swift moves to enact a hard-line agenda — Democrats have all but cast aside any notion of conciliation with the White House. Instead, they are mimicking the Republican approach of the last eight years — the “party of no” — and wagering that brash obstruction will pay similar dividends.
