Tale of Two Endorsements: Obama for Cory, Christie for Lonegan… Christie for Lonegan?

During Hurricane Sandy, President Obama and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie joined forces and did what was right for the victims of the hurricane. They did what they were both elected to do, they did what the people wanted. And it was this coming together of the Democratic President and the Republican Governor that caused Christie to see his poll numbers rise among New Jersey Democrats and paved the way for his likely re-election in the upcoming governor’s election, and possible a 2016 run for President.

For his part, the President also benefited from the newly found political relationship as his poll numbers rose right before the November 2012 election, allowing him to defeat Mitt Romney and gave him the opportunity to serve out his second term.

Many in the Republican party blamed Christie for the President’s 2012 win.

But the new found political allies have now gone back to their respective corners as Christie came out on Tuesday and endorsed right winged nut Steve Lonegan to represent New Jersey in the United States Senate. Mr. Lonegan has made questionable comments about President Obama, ObamaCare and immigration, Planned Parenthood among others. He was also the New Jersey state director for Americans for Prosperity, the Koch brothers-aligned group.  In his endorsement on Tuesday, Christie said Lonegan was just what New Jersey needed in the Senate.

Obama on the other hand endorsed New Jersey Democrat Cory Booker. In his endorsement, the President said “Cory Booker has dedicated his life to the work of building hope and opportunity in communities where too little of either existed. Whether as a college student working in East Palo Alto or as mayor of New Jersey’s largest city, Cory has time and again taken on tough challenges, fought for the middle class and those working to join it, and forged coalitions that create progress – and that’s the spirit he’ll carry with him to Washington.”

Looking at these two endorsement, it is clear to see that Christie’s endorsement was purely political. The Governor it seems, is trying to win back the hearts and minds of those Republicans in New Jersey and nationwide, who still blames him for Obama’s win. The Latino American Democratic Association of Bergen County has also picked up on Christie’s blatant political move. The group’s president Jorge Nunez, said in a statement, ““We need to call this endorsement for what it is, an endorsement of radical-right-wing extremism and anti-Latino sentiment.”

And Christie’s Democratic challenger for Governor Barbara Buono said through a spokesman, “Just like tea party extremist Steve Lonegan, Governor Christie is anti-choice, anti-Planned Parenthood, anti-marriage equality, and anti-commonsense legislation to reduce gun violence. Their unabashedly conservative views are completely out-of-touch with most New Jerseyans.”

Obama’s endorsement was expected all along. Cory Booker has been a staunch advocate for the President and his policies, so Obama’s endorsement was an easy or obvious conclusion.

So who will win? Will New Jersey see through Christie’s political moves and reward his challenger Barbara Buono? Or will New Jerseyans be blinded by Christie’s love the president today, endorse his adversary tomorrow strategy?

We will all find out on November 5th, 2013!

GOP Strategist Said Ted Cruz is Lying

Former John McCain campaign aide Nicolle Wallace told Morning Joe guest host Donny Deutsch that Ted Cruz was being “intellectually dishonest” in his mission to shut down the government in order to defund Obamacare, a strategy she felt was tantamount to lying to his supporters at the cost of the GOP’s national ambitions.

“I watch Ted Cruz up there and I say, ‘Is he not getting the memo from Christie as far as what’s getting you elected going forward?’” Deutsch said. “This ‘party of no,’ this anger, ‘I’m strong, you’re a chicken, I’m strong, you’re a chicken’—who is that talking to? It’s so tone deaf. Party of no, let’s kill Obamacare—versus, you watch what [Chris] Christie’s doing: time after time, decision after decision, moderate, moderate, moderate. Nicolle, am I missing something?”

“The problem with what Cruz is doing is it’s intellectual dishonest,” Wallace said. “[Cruz] was also asked at that event, ‘Why don’t we impeach President Obama?’ And he said, ‘Because we don’t have the votes.’ The true answer, the intellectually honest answer: ‘Because he’s not committed an impeachable offense.’ Ted Cruz is doing a whole lot of fearmongering and lying to the voters. He’s presenting an untruthful case.”

Three Year Old Shoots Self in Head

DUNDEE, Mich. — A 3-year-old boy in a small Michigan town was killed over the weekend when he accidentally shot himself in the head with a gun he found on the closet floor of his home.

The shooting death will undoubtedly renew the debate about gun safety, particularly after the boy’s father took to Facebook calling for it.

The incident took place Sunday at a home in Dundee, near the Ohio border.

Police said Damon Holbrook discovered the gun, which belonged to a family friend.

Republican Logic: Canadian Born Cruz Is an American – American Born Obama is Kenyan

I don’t get it. Excuse my frankness, but President Obama was born in America and the dumb nutjobs in the Republican party to this day cannot acknowledge his citizenship. They even proudly formed a movement called the Birthers and question everything from Obama’s birthplace to his education level to his religion.

And now Ted Cruz, a man born in Calgary Canada. Born in another country. And this man is being pushed by these same nutbags to run for President of the United States!

Their logic makes absolutely no sense. They harp on the fact that Cruz’s mother is an American citizen so that makes Cruz – although he was physically born in another country – his mother’s American citizenship makes him an American too. And they quickly quote the Constitution’s “natural” birth clause to justify their ignorance. But if this argument works for Cruz,  then why oh why wouldn’t the same be true for Obama?

According to Donald Trump and the Birthers, Obama was born in Kenya. If that is the case, and we know it’s not because the president has been forced by the nonsense to release his birth certificate on more than one occasion, but let’s play their dumb game for a second and say that Obama was in fact born in Kenya. His mother – like Cruz’s mother – was an American citizen! So shouldn’t that make our fictional Kenyan birth Obama an American?

The dumbness coming out of the Republican party these days is palpable!

But look away ladies and gentlemen. Don’t pay any attention to the obvious hate mongers. Even Ted Cruz, a favorite of the Birthers and the Tea party groupies is calling his Canadian birth a non issue.

“Because I was a U.S. citizen at birth, because I left Calgary when I was 4 and have lived my entire life since then in the U.S., and because I have never taken affirmative steps to claim Canadian citizenship, I assumed that was the end of the matter,” Cruz said.

Well I guess that settles it. Cruz has spoken. His Canadian birth means he is an American and the President’s American birth means he is a Kenyan.

The Dallas Morning News wrote in a story posted late Sunday night that Cruz likely remains a Canadian citizen, by virtue of being born there to an American mother. Having never renounced that citizenship, Cruz was technically a Canadian and an American citizen, according to legal experts.

Cruz said his mother told him that he could claim his citizenship if he ever wanted to, but that he never pursued it and thought the matter was settled.

Legal experts say that Cruz is a Canadian citizen regardless of whether he asked for it or not.

Greenwald’s Partner Detained – Whitehouse Denies Involvement

The White House said Monday that it was not involved in the British government’s decision to detain the partner of Glenn Greenwald at Heathrow Airport over the weekend.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest said the detainment of David Miranda, who lives with Greenwald in Brazil, was “a law enforcement action that was taken by the British government.”

“The United States was not involved in that decision or that action,” said Earnest, who acknowledged the British government did inform the United States that the detention was likely to occur. 
“There was a heads up that was provided by the British government,” Earnest said.

The White House spokesman said that he was unaware of any conversations Miranda had with British authorities.

Earnest said that he could not “provide any insight” into whether the U.S. would be briefed on information gleaned during Miranda’s detention, and refused to comment more broadly about whether the White House was concerned by his detention.

“This is a decision they made on their own,” Earnest said.

Earnest did not rule out that the U.S. had obtained information from Miranda’s electronic devices. 

Miranda was held for nearly nine hours, and had electronic equipment, including his cellphone, laptop, camera and memory sticks, confiscated by British authorities.

On Sunday, Greenwald, the journalist who revealed top-secret National Security Agency surveillance programs, called the detainment of Miranda “a profound attack on press freedoms and the news gathering process.”

President’s Weekly Address – Implementing The Affordable Care Act

President Obama used his Weekly Address to address the eventual full implementation of ObamaCare or the Affordable Care Act – a law that will allow millions of Americans to be finally able to afford healthcare. And again, he pointed out the fact that there are still Republicans hell bent on making sure these Americans don’t get healthcare.

Many Members of Congress, in both parties, are working hard to inform their constituents about these benefits, protections, and affordable plans.  But there’s also a group of Republicans in Congress working hard to confuse people, and making empty promises that they’ll either shut down the health care law, or, if they don’t get their way, they’ll shut down the government.

Think about that.  They’re actually having a debate between hurting Americans who will no longer be denied affordable care just because they’ve been sick – and harming the economy and millions of Americans in the process.  And many Republicans are more concerned with how badly this debate will hurt them politically than they are with how badly it’ll hurt the country.

A lot of Republicans seem to believe that if they can gum up the works and make this law fail, they’ll somehow be sticking it to me.  But they’d just be sticking it to you.

First Lady Michelle Obama Says America is Ready for a Female President

US First Lady Michelle Obama says in remarks published Friday that America is ready for a woman president, but would not comment on prospects for Hillary Clinton getting the job.

Obama’s comments came in an interview with Parade magazine, excerpts of which were published on its website.

Asked if she thinks the country will see a female president in her lifetime, the wife of President Barack Obama said: “Yes, I think the country is ready for it. It’s just a question of who’s the best person out there.”

She declined to comment on the prospects for Clinton running to succeed Obama in 2016.

Byran Fischer Claims Obama Was Not in Situation Room when Bin Laden was Killed

Now I can officially say that I’ve heard of it all. I have thought this was the case for a long time, but now, this story proves to me that Republicans would say and do anything to get free press.

Republican and Conservative talk show host Byran Fischer is floating around a theory that president Obama was not even in the Situation Room the night Osama bin Laden was captured and killed.

Fischer states, with much conviction I might add, that the photo showing the President, then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Obama’s Security advisors in the Situation Room the night Bin Laden died, was achieved through Photoshope.

Fischers theory goes something like this: the president looks down on everyone, so they had to find a photo of him looking up. They had one, and they managed to insert that photo of Obama looking up into the famous Situation Room photo. Fischer explains:

“President Obama never looks up at anything; he looks down on everybody at all times in all circumstances. He’s got his nose up in the air looking down on you, looking down on me, looking down on the press, looking down on the American people.”

Fischer also explains that Hillary Clinton would be unfit to be president because she was “horrified” at what she was looking at.

“She’s horrified, she frightened. Is that the woman you want to get the 3am phone call? You want her to get the 3 am phone call? Seriously! She’s sitting there at the table with her hand over her mouth, in shock.  Now the guys around the table, they’re sober, they’re focused, they’re intent, but they are not freaked out.  Hillary Clinton is freaked out by what she is seeing on the screen. Do we want her taking the 3 am phone call? I don’t think so”:

Bloomberg’s Plan for Minorities – You’re Guilty until Proven Guilty

First it was “Stop and Frisk,” a controversial policy that targets minorities in New York at unprecedented levels. You know, Racial profiling.

Now, Mayor Bloomberg wants to fingerprint the residents of public housing. Residents that just happen to be poor minorities.

In other words, Bloomsburg’s plan is to assume that minorities are all criminals, that way, when they commit their eventual crime, their information wiuld already be on file.

You know, you’re guilty until proven guilty.

Bloomberg’s latest crime-fighting idea had a lot of people riled up on Friday.

The mayor wants to fingerprint more than 600,000 people who live in public housing. He said it would be done to make the projects safer.

Bloomberg was responding to questions about Federal Judge Shira Schendlin’s ruling on the stop-and-frisk program when the topic shifted to security and the New York City Housing Authority. Bloomberg said there has to be a way to make the projects safer.

“Five percent of our population lives in NYCHA housing, 20 percent of the crime is in NYCHA housing – numbers like that. And we’ve just got to find some way to keep bringing crime down there. And we have a whole group of police officers assigned to NYCHA housing,” Bloomberg said. “The people that live there, most of them, want more police protection. They want more people. If you have strangers walking in the halls of your apartment building, don’t you want somebody to stop and say, ‘Who are you, why are you here?’”

But residents who live within the confines of NYCHA buildings said the mayor’s fingerprinting idea goes too far.

“That’s like invading someone’s privacy or something. Why you want to fingerprint somebody? It is bad enough you get arrested, you get finger printed, so why you want to fingerprint us? Now Bloomberg needs to get a job. Get out of here already. He’s done. Bloomberg is done,” Chelsea Houses resident Nino Alayon said.

Breaking News: Newt Gingrich Finally Told the Truth

For a change,  someone in the Republican party spoke the truth, and that’s because the topic was not President Obama. If the topic wad the president, then the same old Republican lies and talking points would have been told.

But in this case, Newt Gingrich was talking about the gradual but speedy dismantling of his party and the fact that they have failed to learn past lessons. And on that topic, Gingruch actually said something noteworthy.

“We are caught up in a culture where as long as we are negative, as long as we are vicious and as long as we can tear down our opponent, we don’t have to learn anything.”

Gingrich also finally admitted that while his party has focused on tearing down the president and his policies, they have offered zero alternatives for the American people.

If Gingrich keeps this up, Republicans would surely revoke his membership card. Truth is apparently not allowed in that party and anyone who insist on telling it, walks alone.

Little Boy Prays for Obama, Republicans go Insane

Christian conservatives are condemning a YouTube video where a young boy is praying for President Obama.

In the video, the boy clasps his hands and lowers his head before thanking the president for “all the stuff that you helped us with.”

Later in the video, the boy says, “God has given you a special power, and you are going to handle it just fine.” At the end, he opens his eyes and raises his hands, yelling a triumphant, “Barack Obama!”

…CainTV’s Robert Laurie wrote, “If you thought that Barack Obama was just a mortal man elected to a temporary position in office, you thought wrong. According to this video, he’s much, much, more than that. He is a divine instrument, replete with God-given ‘special powers.’”

WorldNetDaily condemned the young boy for “praying TO Obama. Not for him. Not about him. TO him.” This is despite the fact that the first words out of the boy’s mouth are “A prayer for President Barack Obama.”

And Alex Jones’ InfoWars took its criticism of the video to yet another level: “The controversial prayer video is just the latest example of the type of feverish leader worship historically only witnessed in communist and totalitarian regimes, such as North Korea, Mao’s China and Nazi Germany.”
