Trump Ends Michelle Obama’s “Let Girls Learn” Program

Okay, fine. I get it. Republicans are so much against The Obamas that anything and everything the former President and former First Lady enacted, Republicans are determined to end.

That includes a program started by Michelle Obama that had a very noble purpose – facilitating more learning avenues for girls. How could we allow that! Donald Trump and his Republican minions just ended that nonsense!

“Moving forward, we will not continue to use the Let Girls Learn brand or maintain a stand-alone program,” an email from Peace Corps acting director Sheila Crowley to employees reportedly reads.

The Trump administration gave order to cease the program’s operation immediately, according to an internal document obtained by CNN.

Make America Great Again, huh?

Keith Olbermann Schools Trump on Libel Laws and The First Amendment – Video

The President of the United States and his minions in the White House are “looking” at limiting the First Amendment rights of Americans. Amazing as that statement sounds, that is exactly what White House Chief of Staff, Reince Priebus said on a Sunday show when asked if Trump wants to the ability to “sue” the New York Times for its reporting.

“This is something that is being looked at,” Priebus eventually said when asked, although not directly, if suppressing the First Amendment right of The New York Times is on the horizon.

Olbermann took issues with this apparent White House stance and broke down the Constitution and the First Amendment to the so-called president.

New York Democrats Introduce Bill to Force Trump to Release his Taxes

Donald Trump is obviously hiding something.

After Trump promised the country that he would release his taxes if he ran for president, then promised he would release his taxes if he became the Republican’s nominee, then promised he would release his taxes if elected and now saying he has no intention of releasing his taxes, it is clear that this man is a liar, determined to keep his tax secret from the American public.

Well New York Democrats are determined to flush that secret out!

Democrats in the New York legislature have introduced a bill that would require the state to release five years of President Trump’s state tax returns, according to The Associated Press.

The bill would apply to any president or vice president who files a New York state tax return, which would include Trump, the news service reported. The bill would also apply to top state politicians like Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) and the attorney general, as well as New York’s two U.S. senators.

New York Democrats say the bill is a chance to force Trump to release more tax information than he previously has.

“This is drawing a line in the sand: Are you for transparency or not?” Sen. Brad Hoylman (D) of Manhattan told the AP. “This is an issue of national security.”

The Democratic-controlled New York Assembly will likely support the bill, but it faces longer odds in the state Senate, which is held by Republicans, the AP noted.

Donald Trump’s Tax Plan Would Cost $7 Trillion in Lost Revenue

On Wednesday, Donald Trump released a 1 page tax plan that is geared towards putting more money in the pocket of wealthy people like himself. With the little information and lack of specificity outlined in plan, the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget calculated that based on the plan, America would lost a whopping $5 to $7 trillion in lost revenue over a 10 year period.

CRFB estimates the overall cost could go as high as $7 trillion if limits on tax breaks that the plan suggests apply only to high earners. Or the cost could fall to $3 trillion “assuming credits and exclusions are eliminated as well as deductions.”

But what about economic growth? Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin has asserted more than once that the tax plan will pay for itself by generating a lot of growth because the proposed changes will spur investment and create jobs.

CRFB doesn’t buy it, noting that even if tax cuts create more growth than it estimates, there’s “no plausible amount” that can offset the lion’s share of the plan’s cost.

Reporter to Sean Spicer – Are We Ever Going to See Trump’s Taxes? – Video

Donald Trump has dicked the American people around for so long, that even reporters are beginning to call him out on it. One issue in particular that has the public concerned, and is Trump’s insistence on keeping his taxes hidden from the people.

Trump is the first American president in recent decades to fool the American people into voting him into office without allowing us  to see who he is financially connected to. In a recent press conference, White House spokesman Sean Spicer was asked whether Trump would release his 2016 taxes, to which he answered that those taxes were already under a routine audit.

How convenient!

“I think it’s been covered before. It’s the same thing that was discussed on the campaign trail. The president is under audit. It’s a routine one and it continues. And I think the American public [knows] clearly where he stands. This is something that he made very clear during the election cycle.”

ABC reporter, Johnathan Karl heard enough!

“You’ve been asked about this obviously a thousand times. You always talk about you’re under audit, the president is under audit. Is it time to say once and for all, the president is never going to release his tax returns?”

“We’ll have to get back to you on that,” Spicer replied. A well practiced phrase indeed.

Eric Trump – Dad Bombed Syria Because Ivanka Told Him To Do It

So is this why Donald Trump took almost a day to even acknowledge the gassing of kids in Syria? Was he waiting for Ivanka to tell him what to do?

According to Eric Trump, his sister was the one who influenced his father to drop $100 million worth of bombs on a Syria airport that continued to function after the smoke cleared.

Donald Trump’s decision to launch a cruise missile attack on Syria proved he is not in league with Russia and will not be “pushed around” by Vladimir Putin the US President’s son has told The Daily Telegraph. Eric Trump said his father was not intimidated by President Putin’s talk of war, and there would be “no-one harder” than President Trump if they “cross us”.

He also confirmed that President Trump’s decision to bomb a Syrian airbase to punish President Bashar al-Assad for a nerve gas attack last week was influenced by the reaction of his sister Ivanka, who said she was “heartbroken and outraged” by the atrocity.

FBI Received Warrent to Monitor Trump Adviser’s Interaction with Russian Spies

Getting the FISA warrant to spy on a foreigner is easy. Getting a FISA warrant to spy on an American is not the easiest thing to get, as evidence of wrongdoing or colluding or being a secret agent of a foreign entity is required by the court. So when a FISA warrant was issued to the FBI to monitor Trump adviser, Carter Page, then we anticipate more news about the findings of that warrant to come forward soon.

The FBI obtained a secret court order last summer to monitor the communications of an adviser to presidential candidate Donald Trump, part of an investigation into possible links between Russia and the campaign, law enforcement and other U.S. officials said.

The FBI and the Justice Department obtained the warrant targeting Carter Page’s communications after convincing a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court judge that there was probable cause to believe Page was acting as an agent of a foreign power, in this case Russia, according to the officials.

This is the clearest evidence so far that the FBI had reason to believe during the 2016 presidential campaign that a Trump campaign adviser was in touch with Russian agents. Such contacts are now at the center of an investigation into whether the campaign coordinated with the Russian government to swing the election in Trump’s favor.

Trump Has a Good Week: The World and Country Suffer

Some in the media are hailing this past week as Trump’s best as president, so let’s take a look at the highlights:

  1. The chair of the House committee looking into the Russia scandal had to recuse himself.
  2. The Republicans had to alter Senate rules to get their Supreme Court nominee into a seat that was wrongfully denied to President Obama.
  3. The number of new jobs dipped substantially in what could be considered the first real Labor Department report of the Trump Administration.
  4. The president and House negotiators tried to revive their failed health care bill by adding provisions for states to deny people insurance who have pre-existing conditions and raising rates for the elderly.
  5. The president threw some missiles into Syria after a dastardly and cowardly attack by President Assad. The endgame? Like much of Trump policy, it depends on what’s on FOX News tonight.
Compared to the utter helplessness of the first few weeks of the Trump presidency, last week was fairly orderly. And yet…
To be fair, I thought that President Obama should have backed up his red line comment with a military response in 2013, because that’s when it could have had more of an impact on the Syrian Civil War, and Trump was justified in responding last week. The issue is what will happen now? Will it take more attacks on children for Trump to respond? If only adults are hit, will we stay silent? And what about the Russians, who I believe are responding disingenuously to something they should have seen coming.
Is Donald Trump having his George W. “No Nation-Building” Bush moment?

As for the other events of the best week of Trump’s presidency, it’s really par for the overused course. Representative Devon Nunes used information given to him by executive branch sources and then ran and told the president rather than sharing said information with his House colleagues. So now we are in the unique position where only the Senate has the moral authority to investigate the Russia allegations.

On the Supreme Court, Neil Gorsuch’s confirmation won’t mean too much for the balance of the court as it replaces one conservative with another, but that seat should have belonged to President Obama’s nominee. Changing the filibuster rules will eventually favor Democrats, but by that time the real damage could be more conservatives replacing more liberal voices on the Court. Somehow I think the republic will survive, but Congress will need to step in and pass laws to mitigate some of the legal damage.

And the health care bill? Right now it’s pretty dead, but you know how much the GOP loves science. They will try to revive it and make it worse, even though the data suggests that the ACA is healthy enough to keep the insurance companies in green for the foreseeable future. The simple fact is that the GOP needs the money from a health care repeal to pay for their tax cuts, otherwise, it won’t have the splash they’re looking for, but it’s looking more and more like they won’t get it. I guess they’ll have to soak the middle class even worse than they thought they might.

The Trump presidency is fast approaching its 100th day, the usual, if outdated, benchmark of presidential accomplishment, and it hasn’t done much in the way of legislation. Most of the action has been done via formerly-hated-by-conservatives executive orders, and there don’t seem to be any grand laws in the sausage grinder at the moment. The believable media has made a great deal about Trump’s unpredictability and his penchant for reacting when personally affronted or moved, as evidenced by the Syria gambit. It’s really only a matter of time before this manifests itself in something far more dangerous, and darker.

If you can fathom it.

Trump’s Products Are Still ‘Made in China’

Donald Trump is set to meet with China’s president, Xi Jinping this weekend. The meeting has pushed the Russian/Trump collusion conversation out of the way as the media now focuses on what the two men will talk about.

In his 2016 presidential campaign, Trump berated China so this meeting between the two men should be interesting.

In addition to that, North Korea is acting up again and Donald Trump is expected to ask about China’s role in diffusing that situation.

But will that be the full scope of their discussion? What about all the products Donald Trump still make in China? Should we not expect him to inquire about better prices or better deals?

Despite President Donald Trump’s calls for American companies to manufacture their products in the U.S., shipments of his daughter’s branded, Chinese-made dresses have continued to land on U.S. shores since he took office, documents reviewed by NBC News show.

Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping will have a lot to talk about during their first meeting Thursday, including the Trump’s allegations of Chinese currency manipulation and the loss of U.S. manufacturing jobs to Beijing’s “unfair” trade practices.

“We can’t continue to allow China to rape our country,” Trump told his cheering supporters last year on the campaign trail in Indiana. “There are no jobs because China has our jobs.”

Some of those jobs are apparently still filled by Chinese workers assembling dresses for a licensee of Ivanka Trump’s namesake clothing line.

Since Election Day, the apparel brand run by Trump’s daughter has imported 56 shipments of Ivanka Trump products from China and Singapore, part of a total of 215 shipments from Asia since Jan. 1, 2016.

Donald Trump’s Approval Ratings Drop To New Lows

What do you expect? The man has been a total failure since Russia bulldozed him into the White House!

Just 34 percent of the country approved of the job Trump is doing, down from 44.1 percent in March, according to the latest survey this week from Investor’s Business Daily/TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence (IBD/TIPP). The president’s approval rating remained well underwater, with 56 percent of the respondents disapproving of his job performance.

Some key supporters have begun to migrate away from Trump, notably Republicans, independents and white men. Trump’s approval among Republicans dropped to just 74 percent, a 14-percentage-point tumble from last month, according to IBD/TIPP. His approval among independents fell 11 percentage points to 29 percent. Among white men, one of Trump’s strongest demographic bases, his approval rating fell from 58 percent to 49 percent.
