Republican Orrin Hatch Laughs at Women – Tells Them to “Grow UP” – Video

This Brett Kavanaugh nomination process is really allowing Americans and the world to see the true color of Republicans.

In a recent encounter between Republican Senator Orin Hatch and women protesters who were demanding their voice against Kavanaugh be heard, the senator, an elected official, laughed in their face, waved them off and told them to “grow up!”

Kavanaugh’s nomination and the multiple sexual allegations and sexual misconduct charges against him have given victims of sexual abuse a new voice to share their stories. But Republicans have turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to these victims in their unending support of Kavanaugh.

And this disgusting display from Orin Hatch exemplifies the very low place this nation is in, thanks in part to Donald Trump and his Republican party.

Do Not Let Us Fall Into Temptation

Usually I skip over stories that have to do with the Pope, but I’ve been reading more of them since Francis took the rather large yarmulke a few years ago because he seems to get the part about treating people like humans. He still has work to do with women and the Rohingya, but his proposed new change to the Lord’s Prayer (which I have as a 45 rock version from 1973) comes at a most perfect time.

Temptation seems to be all the rage these days and I have to agree with Francis that the problem is not with a deity leading us there, but with us as functioning people resisting the lure. And we do have problems with that.

From national and state politicians, media moguls, entertainers, business executives and, yes, the President of the United States, men have been tempted to use their power and influence to harass, rape, threaten, bully and terrorize both women and men for…what? Sex? Influence? Power? Babies? There’s a pathology here because rolling the dice and hoping you don’t get caught must be part of the demonic thrill involved in the chase. And sometimes, even an apology does not substitute for tears.

But there are other temptations that are weakening us too. The Republican Party, tempted by power, is shutting out any reasonable attempt at bipartisanship on health care and taxes, and I imagine that they’ll extend their terrible ideas to infrastructure, government spending and immigration.

The Democratic Party is similarly tempted by the thought of overreaching in their opposition to the president by becoming, at times, irrational baying wolves, calling for impeachment or overturning the election results. Neither of these will lead to the path to power, nor do I believe that they will become a force that compromises or ends the partisan war being fought throughout this country.

For all of this, I am not a religious person, but occasionally religious leaders do tap into the zeitgeist, intentionally or not. We could all use a little humility, and if it won’t come from the president or his inner circle of sycophants, then it must come from us because only the American people can put an end to a tolerance of lies, misdeeds and obstinate behavior.

And in what could be his final message on the Senate floor, Franken did not miss the opportunity to point out the “irony” of having the leave the Senate because of sexual accusations, while Donald Trump sits in the Oval Office with multiple sexual accusations against him, and Alabama senate hopeful, Roy Moore is about the be voted into the Senate with multiple sexual accusations against him.

Alabama Republicans Forced to Support Roy Moore

With the December 12 Senate election in Alabama rapidly approaching, Senate Republicans in Washington are dropping Roy Moore faster than you can say “No Moore!” to the Alabama Republican accused of sexually assaulting multiple teenage girls when he was a grown-ass thirty-something-year-old District Attorney.

Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell, already stated he is willing to go through the process of unseating Roy Moore if he wins in December. McConnell also stated, unequivocally, that he “believes the women” and their accusations over Moore. And House Republican Majority Speaker, Paul Ryan also voiced his disapproval of Moore’s senate run.

But these are Washington Republicans. Talk to the Republicans in Alabama and it’s a very different story, like night and day! In Alabama, Republicans are cautioned not to go against Roy Moore, or face political damnation if they do!

The chairwoman of the Alabama Republican Party warned she’s ready to enforce strict rules on party purity in the state’s Senate race, even if it means kicking GOP candidates off the ballot in future elections.

“It would be a serious error for any current elected GOP official or candidate to publicly endorse another party’s candidate, an independent, a third-party or a write in candidate in a general election as well,” Alabama GOP Chairwoman Terry Lathan told the Alabama Political Reporter. “I have heard of no GOP elected official or candidate that is even considering this option.”

According to Alabama rules, any office holder who supports an opponent, would be banned from running for office for six years – a political lifetime for people wishing to serve the state.

So expect Roy Moore to stay in the race despite multiple claims of sexual assault against 14 and 16 year old teenagers, and expect Alabama Republicans to support his senate run wholeheartedly!
