Undercover Republican Bob Menendez Says Obama’s Talking Points Come “Straight from Tehran”

Someone please remind me, why is this dude called a “Democrat” again? He fights with Obama more than McConnell does! His latest battle with the administration came after Obama said in the State of the Union address, that if any bill comes before his desk recommending sanctions for Iran, he would veto them.

The administration’s goal of course, is to turn back the clock on Iran’s nuclear weapon development, and since lifting some sanctions on the Iran’s government, noted progress is seen as Iran slows down their nuclear ambitions. Menendez has always been against lifting certain sanctions and wants to impose more. So hearing about Obama’s veto threat made Menendez fume.

“The more I hear from the administration and its quotes, the more it sounds like talking points that come straight out of Tehran,” Menendez said. “And it feeds to the Iranian narrative of victimization, when they are the ones with original sin — an illicit nuclear weapons program going back over the course of 20 years that they are unwilling to come clean on.”

Menendez and Obama reportedly got into a tense exchange over the nuclear talks last week at the Senate Democratic Issues conference, according to the New York Times.

Two anonymous sources who witnessed the exchange told the newspaper that Menendez said he took “personal offense” at the President’s urging lawmakers not to pursue sanctions against Iran for short-term political gain.

North Korea Threatens “War” With USA if Sanctions Aren’t Lifted

I guess you can say that the new sanctions on North Korea are working.

After it was revealed that they were responsible for the Sony hack, President Obama levied heavier sections on the already isolated nation, causing the North to decry those sanctions as “wars of aggression.”

“The U.S. took part in wars of aggression … But it has never experienced a hail of bullets and shells on its own territory,” North Korea’s National Defense Commission said in a warning through state-run media. “The U.S. should roll back its hostile policy towards the DPRK of its own accord if it does not want to suffer a war disaster.”

The United States on Friday slapped sanctions on 10 individuals and three entities, including North Korea’s primary intelligence organization and its arms dealer, over the country’s alleged role in a cyberattack that threatened to derail Sony’s release of “The Interview” and made public emails that embarrassed top-level executives.

Republican’s New Plan – Kill The Iran Deal Before Obama Gets Credit

Saxby Chambliss

Just another example of Republican obstruction if they think the President might win on a particular issue. Top level Republicans are now calling for stronger sanctions against Iran after a new deal was announced over the weekend. Republicans know that increased sanctions would kill the deal, so they’re jumping on that plan ASAP!

Under the deal reached in Geneva in the early hours of Sunday morning the Islamic Republic agreed to freeze significant parts of its nuclear program and increase transparency in exchange for the lifting of $7 billion worth of sanctions which have been punishing the Iranian economy for years.

However top Republican lawmakers have said that now is the time to step up the sanctions against the regime, since, they argue, they have been instrumental in forcing Iran to the negotiating table. Speaking on ABC Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) told the ‘This Week’ program:

“Instead of easing them, now is the time to tighten those sanctions and let’s get a long term deal to prevent them from developing a weapon.”

Kevin McCarthy of California, the House Majority Whip, said that it was time to move forward with new sanctions in the Senate.

However the Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Sarif was unequivocal about the consequences of a new round of sanctions:

If there are new sanctions, then there is no deal. It’s very clear. End of the deal. Because of the inability of one party to maintain their side of the bargain.”

Iran’s President Ahmadinejad Admits – Western Sanctions Are Crippling Iran’s Economy

Ahmadinejad is finally admitting that the steep decline in his country’s currency is due to the sanctions imposed by President Obama and other supporting nations. The Iranian president calls the sanctions “psychological pressures.”

In the past few days Iran’s currency, the rial, has lost more than half its value against the U.S. dollar.  It has prompted fears that the economy is on the verge of collapse, crippled by sanctions which means Iran has lost markets where it can export oil. The price of goods has also risen, as many have to be imported.

The U.S. and its allies have imposed the punishing measures in attempts to force Iranian concessions over its nuclear programme, which the West says is aimed at developing atomic weapons. Tehran insists it is for peaceful purposes.
