Another story to add to our ever-growing folder on excessive force and police brutality.
A Preliminary autopsy states that the young man was shot in the back corroborating eyewitness’ account that the man was running away from police. You wanna know what was the Police account of the shooting? They said the young man was coming towards them with a sword, so they shot him in the back?
Huh? How… wa… I don’t… *sigh*
ThinkProgress reports that last Wednesday, 22-year-old Darrien Hunt was shot dead by police in Saratoga Springs, Utah, about 35 miles south of Salt Lake City.
For three days, police said nothing about the cause of the shooting while witnesses reported that he was running away as officers shot outside a Panda Express. On Saturday, police issued a brief statement saying he lunged at them with a sword. But Hunt’s lawyer says an independent autopsy shows Hunt was shot in the back and not in the front, and his mother Susan Hunt says the “sword” was a blunt-edged vanity version of a Japanese “Katana” sword he bought at an Asian gift shop.
“Those stupid cops thought they had to murder over a toy,” Susan Hunt told the Associated Press. The family’s lawyer, Randall K. Edwards, declined requests from the Los Angeles Times to provide the name of pathologist who performed the alleged autopsy, or to provide a copy of the autopsy.
Hunt told the Associated Press that she returned to Utah recently after separating from her husband and fleeing an abusive relationship, to start a new life with her children. She said Darrien was coping with the separation and looking for jobs in Saratoga Springs
Roberta Thompson told TPM that she was present at the home where the drunken brawl by mama grizzly Sarah Palin and the rest of the Palin family took place.
“It was just so shocking,” Roberta Thompson said.
She mostly confirmed what her husband told multiple news outlets last week, saying that the two of them were right next to each other during the incident. But she provided her own take on how the events unfolded, including a portion that she said involved the eldest Palin daughter, Bristol Palin, and the owner of the house, Korey Klingenmeyer.
“What I saw was two girls run past and run towards Korey,” Roberta Thompson said. “And then I just saw Bristol Palin start punching him in the face.”
“It was quite, quite violent,” she added.
She said Klingenmeyer was clearly upset about what was happening but maintained his composure.
“She kept punching him and then he just said, you know, ‘You need to go,'” Thompson said.
Klingenmeyer escorted the Palins around the corner from there, Thompson said, and she did not see what happened after that.
Pure Insanity! I have no more words for these folks. If he was really a Christian and this is the argument he wanted to make, am I to believe that Fischer couldn’t come up with something better than bacon? Bacon?!?

“You want one single item of proof that America is a Christian nation and not a Jewish nation and not an Islamic nation?” he asked. “One single bit of proof is all you need: we freely allow restaurants and grocery stores to sell and to serve bacon. That can only happen in a Christian country.”
“So the sheer fact that we freely allow the sale and consumption of bacon,” he said, “is absolute proof that we are, in fact, a Christian nation”
I am totally speechless. It is amazing that these people have a following, both Religiously and politically. There are people in this nation genuinely looking for some sort of guidance, but Bacon is all the likes of Bryan Fischer and his conservative media friends can afford. Bacon is all they are able to bring to the table.
Bacon in, Bacon out! That should be the Republicans mantra!

Meet Dr. Misee Harris, the only black Pediatric Dentist in an all white practice. She made the unthinkable mistake of posting the picture above on her “private” Facebook page, but was reprimanded by her boss for the post. Read Harris’ story below.
On Thursday, September 4th, Dr. Misee Harris (the Black Bachelorette) was called into an unannounced meeting at the dental practice where she has worked as a Pediatric Dentist and was recently offered a partnership in the practice. Dr. Harris, the sole African American dentist in the practice, has worked tirelessly with underprivileged young patients on Medicaid to ensure their smiles remain healthy, and the quality of Dr. Harris’s work has never been called into question. Once in the meeting, Dr. Harris was ambushed and presented with screenshots from her private Facebook page. Being that Misee had blocked work colleagues from accessing her account, it was explained to Misee that a doctor who is a partner at the office, and who led the meeting, had been having a friend spy on Misee’s Facebook page. Screenshots were taken of Misee’s Facebook posts and were sent to the doctor who led the meeting. Misee was then told that some of her Facebook posts about recent racial issues in America were “unprofessional.” The biggest bone of contention to the partners was a cartoon (see graphic below) related to the recent police murders of several innocent African-Americans across the nation. The partner held up the picture and asked Misee “Do you think we (meaning Misee’s white colleagues) are all like this?”
Dr. Misee Harris composed herself and asked the partner if she had any idea what was going on in black America, namely regarding the murder of Michael Brown. The partner did not know the name Mike Brown, nor did she seem to understand Misee’s outrage at being attacked for her personal views. Dr. Harris’s racial discrimination concerns voiced on her personal and private Facebook page was meant solely for the eyes of her friends and family whom Misee thought she could trust. Misee was then told flat out that she would have to choose between her “style of social media communication” and her job as a pediatric dentist in their practice.
Misee felt unable to continue working under such conditions and decided to quit the dental practice on the spot, much to the dismay of her bosses. They assumed Misee would simply promise to stop voicing her opinions on social media about racial injustice. In a nutshell, Dr. Misee Harris feels she has been discriminated against as the sole African-American member of her now former dental practice. Dr. Harris believes she has been pushed out of her job for simply being a black woman in America.

That is where I think Alison made her mistake. I still don’t understand why all these Democrats are running away from the President when the President is the only one in Washington fighting for the American people. Seems like the most obvious choice would be to adapt the president’s policies, fight for the people instead of billionaires, and let the chips fall where they may. But no, these Democrats think running away from the president guarantees their ticket to Washington.
Alison Lundergan Grimes is against Kentucky’s Mitch McConnell and according to the latest polls, she is falling way behind. This is her way to try and get back in the race, to tell the people of Kentucky that she is not like Obama.
“Mitch McConnell wants you to think I’m Barack Obama. Mitch is the same guy who thought Duke Basketball players were [from the University of Kentucky]! Or who’s attacking me on coal after doing next to nothing while we’ve lost thousands of coal jobs? He even said it’s not his job to bring jobs to Kentucky.”
“I’m not Barack Obama. I disagree with him on guns, coal and the EPA.”
SIDENOTE – Kentuckians are enjoying all the benefits of Obamacare, something Mitch McConnell is trying to take away from them. Yet, these people will apparently vote to put McConnell back in office.

Meet Republican Tom Ready, who is running against Democratuc Pueblo County Commissioner, Sal Pace. Ready’s views on Sandy hook is well known. He even posted his views on his Facebook page. In a live televised debate last Wednesday, Ready was asked if he stood by his belief that the Sandy Hook massacre was a hoax.
“There’s still a question about whether it really happened, Sal,” Ready blurted out. He continued.
“Some of the people, if you recall, there was a picture of a man walking in whose daughter had died, he was smiling and joking. When he walked into the room, he turned and all of a sudden had tears in his eyes. Why? I question that.
“There’s nothing wrong with an open discussion.”
And you wonder why the Republican party is the laughing stock of the nation.

The Baltimore Sun is reporting since former Ravens running back Ray Rice’s $35 million contract has been terminated and he’s indefinitely suspended by the NFL, the NFL Players Association and Rice are poised to appeal by filing a grievance as soon as Monday, according to sources.
Due process and the precedent for other players facing increased punishment are among the reasons for appealing the increased punishment Rice received, the sources said.
Rice is also considering potential legal action with all options remaining on the table following his increased discipline from the league, according to sources, who noted the potential “double-jeopardy” aspect of the former NFL player being punished twice for the same offense.
Sources indicated that Rice is also regarded as likely to hire a crisis management firm to offer him advice.
On Friday, the NFLPA got a letter from commissioner Roger Goodell explaining the increased punishment. The union has three business days to file an appeal, according to the NFL collective bargaining agreement
A new video released by ISIS shows yet another beheading, this time, of a British citizen named David Haines and aimed at Britain for their support of America’s war against ISIS. The video follows the horrific beheading of American journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff… in the name of ISLAM!
The video was done in the same fashion as the previous executions, with the executioner exhibiting the same mannerisms as the others, giving support to the theory that the same individual is responsible for all the murders.
Before he was murdered, Mr. Haines looks into the camera and says: ‘My name is David Cawthorne Haines. I would like to declare that I hold you David Cameron entirely responsible for my execution.”
‘You entered voluntarily into a coalition with the United States against the Islamic State just as your predecessor Tony Blair did, following a trend against our British prime ministers who can’t find the courage to say no to the Americans.
‘Unfortunately it is we the British public that in the end will pay the price for our Parliament’s selfish decision.”
In a message to British Prime Minister, David Cameron, the executioner said “This British man has to pay the price for your promise, Cameron, to arm the Peshmerga against the Islamic State. Ironically, he has spent a decade of his life serving under the same Royal Air Force that is responsible for delivering those arms. Your evil alliance with America which continues to strike the Muslims of Iraq and most recently bombed the Haditha Dam will only accelerate your destruction.”
At the end of the video, another British citizen was shown as the next victi in ISIS’ murder spre. A man named Alan Henning.
Here’s another one for the Republican led Supreme Court that recently issued a ruling saying racism was dead in America. An actress who appeared in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, wrote of her recent experience with police officers from the Studio City Police Department. Daniele Watts wrote that after showing affection to her boyfriend, she was approached, handcuffed and put in the back of a police cruiser.
According to her boyfriend’s Facebook posting about the incident, the officers apparently assumed this black girl kissing a white man meant she was nothing more than a prostitute.
From the questions that he asked me as D was already on her phone with her dad, I could tell that whoever called on us (including the officers), saw a tatted RAWKer white boy and a hot bootie shorted black girl and thought we were a HO (prostitute) & a TRICK (client).>

Today I was handcuffed and detained by 2 police officers from the Studio City Police Department after refusing to agree that I had done something wrong by showing affection, fully clothed, in a public place. When the officer arrived, I was standing on the sidewalk by a tree. I was talking to my father on my cell phone. I knew that I had done nothing wrong, that I wasn’t harming anyone, so I walked away.
A few minutes later, I was still talking to my dad when 2 different police officers accosted me and forced me into handcuffs.
As I was sitting in the back of the police car, I remembered the countless times my father came home frustrated or humiliated by the cops when he had done nothing wrong. I felt his shame, his anger, and my own feelings of frustration for existing in a world where I have allowed myself to believe that “authority figures” could control my BEING… my ability to BE!!!!!!!
I was sitting in that back of this cop car, filled with adrenaline, my wrist bleeding in pain, and it occurred to me, that even there, I STILL HAD POWER OVER MY OWN SPIRIT.
Those cops could not stop me from expressing myself. They could not stop the cathartic tears and rage from flowing out of me. They could not force me to feel bad about myself. Yes, they had control over my physical body, but not my emotions. My feelings. My spirit was, and still is FREE.
I will continue to look any “authority figure” in the eye without fear. NO POLICE OFFICER OR GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL IS MORE POWERFUL THAN ME. WE ARE EQUALS. I KNOW THAT I WILL ALWAYS BE FREE BECAUSE THAT IS THE NATURE OF MY SPIRIT.
And moreover, I deeply enjoyed connecting with the cops who detained me. I allowed myself to be honest about my anger, frustration, and rage as tears flowed from my eyes. The tears I cry for a country that calls itself “the land of the free and the home of the brave” and yet detains people for claiming that very right.
Today I exist with courage, knowing that I am blessed to have experienced what I did today. All of those feelings, no matter how uncomfortable. These feelings are what builds my internal strength, my ability to grow through WHATEVER may happen to me.
That internal knowing is what guides me in this world. Not the law, not fear, not mistrust of government or cops or anything else.
In this moment there is a still small voice whispering to me. It says: You are love. You are free. You are pure.
Rob Ford, the infamous mayor of Toronto Canada who was caught on video doing cocaine among other things, is calling it quits after being hospitalized with what is being called an abdominal tumor. The mayor has decided to focus on getting better and recommended that his brother Doug Ford, runs in his place.
“My heart is heavy when I tell you that I’m unable to continue my campaign for re-election as your mayor,” the controversial politician said in a statement Friday. Ford’s term officially ends December 1.
“People know me as a guy who faces things head on and never gives up, and as your mayor I have done just that,” Ford said. “Now I could be facing a battle of my lifetime, and I want the people of Toronto to know that I intend to face this challenge head on, and win.”
Ford asked his brother, Doug Ford, to run for mayor in the October 27 balloting.
“He told me that he needed me to take the torch while he focuses on getting better,” Doug Ford said at a press conference Friday evening outside his mother’s home. “He told me he couldn’t bear the thought of city hall returning to the old days at the expense of the good, honest, everyday people,” he said.
Doug Ford, who has been one of the mayor’s strongest supporters during the controversies that have plagued him, said he is honoring his brother’s request and would have more details next week about his own campaign for mayor.
In his weekly address, President Obama took his new call to degrade and defend ISIL directly to the American people, explaining the importance of taking the fight directly to the terrorist group.
As Commander-in-Chief, my highest priority is the security of the American people. And I’ve made it clear that those who threaten the United States will find no safe haven. Thanks to our military and counterterrorism professionals, we took out Osama bin Laden, much of al Qaeda’s leadership in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and leaders of al Qaeda affiliates in Yemen and Somalia. We’ve prevented terrorist attacks, saved American lives and made our homeland more secure.
Today, the terrorist threat is more diffuse, from al Qaeda affiliates and other extremists—like ISIL in Syria and Iraq. As I said this week, our intelligence community has not yet detected specific ISIL plots against our homeland. But its leaders have repeatedly threatened the United States. And, if left unchecked, these terrorists could pose a growing threat beyond the Middle East, including to the United States. So we’re staying vigilant. And we’re moving ahead with our strategy to degrade and ultimately destroy this terrorist organization.
