Elderly Man with Alzheimers Shot Dead on Another Man’s Property

A 72-year-old who suffered from Alzheimer’s was shot dead after wandering onto a man’s property early Wednesday morning, ringing the doorbell and turning the door handle. After Joe Hendrix’s fiancé called 911 to report a possible intruder, Hendrix went outside to take matters into his own hands, and fired four shots at a silhouette in his yard, killing Ronald Westbrook.

Hendrix admitted to shooting Westbrook in the yard of his rural northern Georgia home after calling out to him and hearing no answer. The county sheriff said Hendrix went outside after waiting 9 or 10 minutes for the police, while his fiancé was still on the phone with the 911 dispatcher. The county sheriff said was “certain” he and his fiance felt threatened.

The incident is the latest in a series of fatal shootings by residents who said they feared an intruder. Last month, protests erupted while a Detroit-area district attorney mulled whether she would file charges against a homeowner who shot a 19-year-old girl, reportedly seeking help after a car accident. Theodore P. Wafer was ultimately charged with murder, but his lawyer invoked the language of the state’s “shoot first” laws that authorize deadly force in self-defense, suggesting Wafer may seek immunity against charges.

Like Michigan and Florida, Georgia has an aggressive law that permits deadly force in self-defense, both inside and outside the home. Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson told the Times Free Press in Chattanooga, Tenn., that he expected the district attorney to consider Georgia’s Stand Your Ground law in deciding whether to press charges

Shooting: Five Shot, Three Killed Execution-Style in Houston

Three people were killed in execution style shooting and two critically wounded after gunfire erupted inside a suburban Houston apartment Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting happened about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Sunbury Downs Apartments in an unincorporated area 25 miles northwest of downtown Houston.

A young man and two young women died after each was shot multiple times, including the head, and another man and woman were airlifted to Memorial Hermann-Texas Trauma Institute in Houston with similar gunshot wounds, said Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia.

Both were in critical condition, and detectives were at the hospital awaiting a chance to interview the two, he said.

He said the victims were in their late teens to early 20s and that their names would not be released until their families could be notified.

‘It’s a waste of human life that we’re talking tonight once again about young people who will not get to fulfill the promise that they were born with,’ Garcia said according to ABC 13.

‘This scene is still very fresh and as we have more progress and perspective on the scene, we will be sharing that with you,’ Garcia said.

Deputies have no description of the gunman. Witnesses say a man shot the victims inside the one-bedroom downstairs apartment, closed the apartment door and fled, Garcia said.

All of those shot were seated when the gunfire started, he said. There were no signs of forced entry or struggle.

Online Video Game Simulates The Sandy Hook Massacre

In an online video game, players follow shooter Adam Lanza’s footsteps the day of the Sandy Hook Elementary school mass shooting.

Called “The Slaying of Sandy Hook Elementary School,” the widely condemned simulation takes players through the shootings of 26 children and adults before it shows their “score”:

Game creator Ryan Jake Lambourn claims it has a “gun safety” message, but activists against gun violence are baffled and disgusted by the game. The family of Victoria Soto, a murdered Newtown teacher, took their outrage to Twitter, telling Lambourn, “Please tell us how playing a game that recreates how Vicki died would be beneficial?”

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) told the Hartford Courant he hopes the “very disturbed person who could think of something like this sees the cruelty of what he’s done and stops it.”

Post-Newtown, the National Rifle Association faulted video games and media, not guns, in its wide cast for blame. But the NRA is not above using controversial shooting games when it can profit from them. One month after the tragedy, the NRA released a game with coffin-shaped targets to promote gun ownership.

Long Island Shooting – Man Kills Girlfriend in front of Kids

A Long Island man shot dead his fiancée Sunday morning in front of his children and had a shootout with police before eventually surrendering.

Jose Rodriguez III, 32, shot dead fiancée Kimberly Sellitto, 36, before firing several shots at responding police while his three children watched in horror, authorities said.

Mr Rodriguez eventually turned himself in and was charged with second-degree murder.

Officers responding just after 11.30 Sunday morning discovered a woman’s body in front of the Ridge, NY apartment complex where the couple lived.

Locked and loaded, Mr Rodriguez pumped several shotgun rounds at responding officers. No police were injured, but a police vehicle sustained minor damage while cops were firing back at the violent man.

Police were able to negotiate the release of Mr Rodriguez’s two children – Ms Sellitto was not their mother – before eventually convincing him to surrender at about 1:45, the Suffolk County Police Department said in an official statement.

Detroit Woman Shot To Death Seeking Help After Car Accident

Renisha McBride, 19, was shot to death in a Dearborn Heights, Michigan neighborhood after seeking help following a car crash, reports The Detroit News.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning, McBride knocked on the door of a home, hoping for assistance. Instead, she got a gunshot wound to the head.
“He shot her in the head … for what? For knocking on his door,” said McBride’s maternal aunt, Bernita Spinks. “If he felt scared or threatened, he should have called 911.”

“You see a young black lady on your porch and you shoot?” asked Spinks. “He killed my niece and he needs to pay for it. He needs to be in jail.
“There was no windows broken. My niece didn’t bother anyone,” said Spinks. “She went looking for help and now she’s dead.”

The Dearborn Police Department have confirmed the shooting, but have not released the name of the suspect. They initially told McBride’s family that her body was “dumped,” but have now admitted that she died on the man’s porch, reports FOX 32.

The investigation is ongoing and findings will be forwarded to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

New Jersey Mall Shooter Found Dead

The crazed gunman who brought terror to a New Jersey mall on Monday night by casually strolling through the building firing bullets into the air, has shot himself dead, authorities claim.

The body of 20-year-old Richard Shoop was discovered at 3:20 a.m. this morning in an area of the Westfield Garden State Plaza Mall in Paramus N.J., which was still under construction.

Shoop, who was wearing body armour and a motorcycle helmet, walked into the Garden State Plaza mall shortly before 9.30pm on Monday night and opened fire.

Bergen County prosecutors said Snoop, of Teanick, NJ, was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in an area deep withing the mall described as ‘a literal Byzantine area of new construction’, NBC reports.

Authorities say he had a history of hard drug abuse and was a frequent user of MDMA. But they said they do not believe he had intended to harm anyone but himself.

He reportedly left a note to his family at his home, before stealing his brother’s gun and setting off to the Westfield mall.

No one is understood to have been injured in the attack although up to 1,000 shoppers were left barricaded inside the building.

LAX Shooter Carried Propaganda From “Patriot” Movement

The Associated Press, quoting a law enforcement official briefed on the investigation, reported that suspect Paul Anthony Ciancia, 23, said in the note found in the duffel bag he carried into the airport on Friday that he wasn’t targeting a specific TSA employee.
“Black, white, yellow, brown, I don’t discriminate,” the note read, according to a paraphrase by the law enforcement official, who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity.

Ciancia was charged Saturday with murder of a federal officer and commission of violence at an international airport. A federal criminal complaint said that Ciancia also shot at least two other uniformed TSA employees and a civilian passenger.

It was not immediately clear why Ciancia wanted to lash out at the agency, but a leading organization that tracks U.S. hate groups and extremist organizations reported Saturday that the suspect  may have been influenced by propaganda of the antigovernment “patriot” movement and fringe conspiracy theories.

As reported Friday by NBC News, the suspect was carrying anti-government literature outlining an alleged conspiracy to create a single global government, possibly prepared by a group known as the “New World Order,” when he opened fire on workers with the Transportation Safety Administration, killing one and injuring several others.

LAX Shooter Spoke of the New World Order

The New Jersey native who killed a TSA agent and wounded five people in a wild Los Angeles airport shootup left a note describing himself online as a “pissed off patriot” angry that airport searches violate his rights.

Paul Ciancia, 23, walked into a packed Los Angeles International Airport terminal Friday morning wearing fatigues and carrying an AR-15 assault rifle and about 150 rounds of ammunition.

He started picking off Transportation Security Administration agents — sending hundreds of terrified air travelers fleeing for safety.

Ciancia wrote in his note that he “wanted to kill TSA and pigs,” and was disappointed with the government, but did not want to hurt civilians, according to reports.

He signed it with the letters “NWO,” an apparent reference to an anti-government group called “New World Order,” according to the Daily Mail.

Ciancia sprayed gunfire as he marched through the terminal, apparently ignoring civilians while targeting TSA agents, according to reports.

TSA Officer Gerardo I. Hernandez, 39, was killed in the rampage. Hernandez was the first agent to die in the line of duty in the TSA’s 12-year history

Zimmerman Nailed Bullet Ridden Bullseye on Wife’s Wall

Shellie Zimmerman, estranged wife of George Zimmerman, alleged Wednesday that he nailed a bullseye to her wall, complete with seventeen bullet holes, after she ordered him to collect his things and move out in early September.

Photos of the target were obtained by Radar Online, which quoted an anonymous source as saying, “This is the photo that Shellie sent to her lawyer and said, ‘Look at the subliminal message George left me,’ following their showdown in September.”

“At the time, Shellie was in New York, appearing on the TODAY show,” the source said. “What Shellie’s mom didn’t notice was the target. Then, when Shellie got home, she went over to the house and discovered the target with bullet holes in various quadrants. There it was…tacked up on the wall of their home office, right between the garage and the kitchen where the domestic incident took place.”

Shellie Zimmerman filed for divorce in September, and called the police on her husband for a domestic dispute days later.

Another School Shooting – Teacher Killed, Others Injured

A student at Sparks Middle School shot and killed a teacher and wounded two other students Monday morning before fatally turning the gun on himself, police said.

Two unidentified males were wounded in the shooting and were taken to Renown Regional Medical Center in critical condition, a spokeswoman said. The Reno Gazette-Journal is trying to confirm the identity of the shooter and the teacher, who was reportedly a popular math teacher there, according to eyewitness accounts. Police said the teacher who was shot was trying to protect students.

Police said the shooting happened at 7:15 a.m. and students were evacuated to nearby Agnes Risley Elementary School and then to Sparks High School, where parents picked up their children.

At an 11 a.m. press conference, officials said of the two injured students, one was out of surgery and the other was doing well.

Eyewitness Kyle Nucum, 13, an eighth-grader at the middle school, said he was at the basketball court outside when the shooting happened.

“We heard a pop, like a loud pop, and everybody was screaming and the teacher came to investigate,” Nucum said Monday morning. “I thought it was a firecracker at first, but the student was pointing a gun at the teacher after the teacher told him to put it down, and the student fired a shot at the teacher and the teacher fell and everybody ran away.

“And we ran across the field to get somewhere safe and while we were running we heard about four or five more shots and we just got somewhere safe. This lady let us into her house.”

Authorities released few details about the shooting during a 9:15 a.m. press conference at Agnes Risley Elementary School.

Michelle Hernandez, a student at the middle school, said she saw the shooter Monday morning.

“I heard him saying, ‘Why you people making fun of me, why you laughing at me,’” Hernandez said.

Seth Hinchberger, an eighth-grader at Sparks Middle School, said the shooter “pulled out a weapon and just shot it. And scared all of us and we just started running.”
