Crooked Oklahoma Cop Sentenced to 263 Years in Prison

He obviously thought sexually molesting and raping women in a low-income Oklahoma City neighborhood would go unnoticed. Who would believe these women, he must have thought. But their voices were heard and the judge and jury agreed, sending Daniel Holtzclaw to prison for the rest of his life.

Jurors had recommended that Daniel Holtzclaw be sentenced to 263 years in prison for preying on women in 2013 and 2014. District Judge Timothy Henderson agreed, said Holtzclaw will serve the terms consecutively and denied his request for an appeal bond.

Holtzclaw waived his right to remain in custody in the county jail for 10 days, instead opting to be taken directly to prison. Defense attorney Scott Adams said Holtzclaw will appeal.

“It is what it is,” Adams said. “It wasn’t a surprise.”

Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater had strong words for Holtzclaw, who was convicted last month on 18 counts, including four first-degree rape counts as well as forcible oral sodomy, sexual battery, procuring lewd exhibition and second-degree rape. Holtzclaw was acquitted on 18 other counts.

“I think people need to realize that this is not a law-enforcement officer that committed these crimes. This is a rapist who masqueraded as a law-enforcement officer,” Prater said after the sentencing. “If he was a true law enforcement officer he would have upheld his duty to protect those citizens rather than victimize them.”

Stephen Colbert Does Sarah Palin – Video

I didn’t think it was possible. I didn’t think anyone would want to venture out into that wilderness. But Stephen Colbert is not like anyone else, and on Wednesday night, after Sarah Palin announced her endorsement of Donald Trump for president, Stephen Colbert did Sarah Palin and he did it like a master.

Call it Palin-ese.

Numerous Reports of Poisonous Water in Flint Dismissed by Snyder’s Administration

Politics over people? Why yes please!

Since releasing his emails regarding the Flint water crisis, reports show that the Republican governor of Michigan, Rick Snyder, along with members of his administration repeatedly dismissed numerous findings that Flint’s drinking water was highly contaminated with lead.

A top aide to Michigan’s governor referred to people raising questions about the quality of Flint’s water as an “anti-everything group.” Other critics were accused of turning complaints about water into a “political football.” And worrisome findings about lead by a concerned pediatrician were dismissed as “data,” in quotes.

That view of how the administration of Gov. Rick Snyder initially dealt with the water crisis in the poverty-stricken, black-majority city of Flint emerged from 274 pages of emails, made public by the governor on Wednesday.

The correspondence records mounting complaints by the public and elected officials, as well as growing irritation by state officials over the reluctance to accept their assurances.

It was not until late in 2015, after months of complaints, that state officials finally conceded what critics had been contending: that Flint was in the midst of a major public health emergency, as tap water pouring into families’ homes contained enough lead to show up in the blood of dozens of people in the city. Even small amounts of lead could cause lasting health and developmental problems in children.

President Obama’s Message in Flint Michigan – Video

“I am very proud of what I’ve done as president,” President Obama said Wednesday in Flint Michigan. “But the only job that’s more important to me is the job of father. And I know if I was a parent up there, I would be beside myself if my kids’ health could be at risk.”

The president went on to explain that he “declared a federal emergency in Flint” which would ensure that more resources are sent to help fight the Republican-made water crisis.

“It is a reminder of why you can’t shortchange basic services that we provide to our people,” Mr. Obama said, a direct reference to the governor’s decision to get contaminated water from Flint’s river for the people’s use. “And that we together provide as a government to make sure that public health and safety is preserved,” Obama said.

Record Breaking – 2015 Was Hottest Year Ever Recorded

Republicans are always talking about the world they want to leave to their kids and grandkids. But these same Republicans will go to war with anyone claiming that climate change is happening, and that man is the biggest contributor to that change.

Scientists reported Wednesday that 2015 was the hottest year in recorded history by far, breaking a record set only the year before — a burst of heat that has continued into the new year and is roiling weather patterns all over the world.

In the continental United States, the year was the second-warmest on record, punctuated by a December that was both the hottest and the wettest since record-keeping began. One result has been a wave of unusual winter floodscoursing down the Mississippi River watershed

Although there are physical, tangible and scientific evidence to back up a warming atmosphere, Republicans continue to doubt the facts because they are deeply entwined with the special interests that make billions from the elements contributing to global warming.

And although the records go up and up each year, Republicans continue to bury their head in the sand as these special interests grease their pockets.

Cheers to our kids and grandkids!

Donald Trump Sees Possible Role for Sarah Palin In his Administration

The quitter from Alaska, the half-term governor who was fired during  her first contract with Fox News, the woman who couldn’t make her failed website “great again,” but watched helplessly as it fall by the wayside, that woman, Sarah Palin, might join Donald Trump in his administration… God forbids a Trump Administration becomes a reality.

“I haven’t discussed anything with her about what she’d do, but she’s somebody I really like and I respect, and certainly she could play a position if she wanted to,” Trump said of the former Alaska governor, who threw her backing behind the real estate mogul on Tuesday.

While Trump insisted he hasn’t considered vice presidential candidates yet, he said he doubts Palin would be interested because “she’s been through that,” referring to her role as the 2008 running mate of Sen. John McCain.

Trump hopes Palin’s formal backing, the highest-profile endorsement yet for the Republican front-runner, could provide the boost he needs to distance himself from rival Ted Cruz. The Texas senator has been his closest competitor in numerous polls in Iowa, which will hold the nation’s first presidential primary contest on Feb. 1.

30 Years of Bernie Sanders Fighting For Middle Class America – Video

Bernie Sanders is not the average politician that says one thing today then change his views when it’s politically convenient. He is consistent no matter who the audience is, and his consistency revolves around fighting for the middle-class while trying to bring fairness to an obviously rigged political system.

Here is the definition of consistency.

Sarah Palin endorsed Donald Trump earlier tonight, Trump, also known as the Republican Liberal Conservative in the race for president.. And already, the folks who call themselves  “real conservatives” are not happy, and they are voicing their disgust for the endorsement on Social Media.

Iowa Governor Wants Ted Cruz to Lose in Iowa – Video

Gov. Terry Brandstad sounds like a smart man.

Iowa Governor Terry Branstad says he still won’t endorse a Republican presidential candidate before the Feb. 1 caucuses. But Tuesday, for the first time, Branstad said he wants Texas Senator Ted Cruz defeated.

“Yes,” Branstad told Channel 13 News Tuesday morning when asked if he wants Cruz, who is currently leading the Iowa polls, to lose.

Branstad made his comments after addressing a room of alternative energy supporters at the Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit in Altoona.

“I think it would be very damaging to our state,” Iowa’s governor said of a Cruz victory on caucus night.

Rick Snyder Admits he Knew About Flint’s Water Catastrophe Since Last Sunmer

In a wide wide-ranging interview with the National Journal, Governor Rick Snyder of Michigan admitted that he knew about the water contamination in Flint since last year. But the Republican governor also said that although he knew about the dangerous leadi levels in Flint’s water supply, he was not stepping down from office because he wants to “solve this problem.”

A problem he wilfully created, mind you.

The Journal reports;

“It’s a disaster,” he said when asked about the comparison some critics have made to the 2005 natural disaster in New Orleans that became a symbol of government mismanagement—city, state, and federal. “It’s clearly a negative on what we’ve accomplished since I’ve been governor.”

In a wide-ranging interview on the eve of his state of the state address, Snyder said he knew last summer about his top aide’s concerns that Flint residents were “getting blown off” by the Michigan’s Department of Environmental Quality. The MDEQ waved off his office’s concerns, Snyder said. He accepted responsibility for the lack of adequate follow up, but the twice-elected GOP governor said he would not heed calls for his resignation.

“I want to solve this problem,” Snyder said. “I don’t want to walk away from it.” Both MDEQ’s director and chief spokesman were forced to resign, and Snyder has taken several steps—albeit belatedly—to help Flint identify the extent of the contamination and to respond to it. He said more action will be revealed in Tuesday night’s address

British Parliament – “Donald Trump is a Buffoon!” – Video

And one after the next, parliament members stood up and expressed their feelings towards Donald Trump – the Republican’s clear choice for President of the greatest nation on earth.

Based on the way things went in the debate, it is fair to say that Donald Trump is not a fan in Britain. According to the prevailing opinion on the floor of the parliament, one can safely say parliament members think “Donald Trump is a buffoon!”

Here’s The UK’s Parliamentary Roast Of Donald TrumpWatch as members of the UK’s House of Commons zing Donald J. Trump, one after another, as they debate whether he should be banned from the country.

Gov Snyder Requested Federal Disaster Relief in Flint – Obama Refused

And the president refused with for a good reason.

The Flint water crisis is man-made, created by Michigan’s Republican governor, Rick Snyder, and his government appointed overseer. The president did agree that the people of Flint needed help and declared the water crisis a federal emergency, sending necessary aid to the people who were literally poisoned by Snyder’s water decision.

But Snyder wanted more from Obama. With a federal disaster declaration, Snyder would get more money from the Federal government at a faster pace. So Snyder asked the president to declare Flint a federal disaster area. Obama did not go along with the Republican governor’s appeal.

A disaster declaration would have made larger amounts of federal funding available more quickly to help Flint residents whose drinking water is contaminated with lead. But under federal law, only natural disasters such as hurricanes and floods are eligible for disaster declarations, federal and state officials said. The lead contamination of Flint’s drinking water is a manmade catastrophe.
The president’s actions authorize the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to coordinate responses and cover 75% of the costs for much-needed water, filters, filter cartridges and other items for residents, capped initially at $5 million. The president also offered assistance in finding other available federal assistance, a news release Saturday from the White House said.
