Joy Reid Factchecks Michael Steele’s False Comment About Abortions On Air – Video

Former RNC Chairman, Michael Steele went on MSNBC today and was interviewed by Joy Reid on the ridiculous comments Republican leader, Donald Trump made earlier in the week, where he said women seeking abortion services should be punished.

Asked to speak about Trump’s comment and the fact that others in the Republican party want women punished for seeking abortions, Michael Steele tried to sidestep the issue, falsely stating that no one in the Republican party is advocating punishing women.

“That has not been the policy of this country to prosecute women who had an abortion, either back in the 50’s or today,” Steele said. He then went on to call the issue a “red herring,” then reiterated his stance that no one in the Republican party is pushing laws to punish women.

But Reid already had multiple headlines cued up, showing that women were already being punished, even jailed for having an abortion.

The Reality Show Election Just Got Very Real

It is true that political discourse has taken a wildly unpredictable and extremely troubling turn in this country, but just when it seems that the shouting match will get louder, along comes a politician who is calm, focused, steely, intelligent, moral and principled. Who is this person?

The current occupant of the Oval Office. A man who has led this country through some of its most trying days. The president who will be remembered for bringing health care to millions and for signing a financial reform plan that is holding up well in the face of those opponents who would like to go back to the conditions that created the crisis in the first place. He has made stirring speeches, gave the order to kill Osama bin Laden, reminded us that race is still a central issue in the country, and weathered attacks by people who questioned not only his authority, but his legitimacy and fitness for the highest office in the land. And he did all of this without a major political scandal, running the government and hiring advisers who, for the most part, served their president well.

And for all of that, President Obama’s approval ratings have risen as the economy has improved, as evidenced by last week’s Labor Department report showing that wages are rising, more people are working and looking for work, and the economy is improving at a rate we haven’t seen in years.

But of course, much of this improvement is because the opposition is presenting voters with the choice between a Know-Nothing, Say Anything candidate in Donald Trump and his main competition, Ted Cruz, whose chief accomplishments seem to suggest that he wants to be president so he can shut the government down rather than have it serve the American people.

And this past week serves as a reminder that we had better be very careful about who we elect to the presidency. Trump’s mindless comments about criminalizing women who have abortions is only one-half step worse than Cruz’s position that abortions due to rape and incest be likewise criminalized. Both have said that American citizens who are Muslims should be watched more closely, and of course Trump wants to bar Muslim immigrants based solely on their religious beliefs. As for foreign policy, if you can call it that, Cruz wants to carpet bomb while Trump said last week that he wants our allies to pay far more for their own defense, even if it means the spread of nuclear weapons to South Korea and Japan. Never mind that an arms race with China is a real possibility and that the United States has an interest in shoring up those two countries against Chinese and unpredictable North Korean threats.

This last issue provoked the president into reminding the country that candidates like Trump can’t simply make up foreign policy on the fly. We have commitments in the world and whoever is president needs to take them seriously. And saying that many other countries, such as Pakistan, have nuclear weapons as a reason to allow more countries to have them is not responsible.

There is a reason why the Republican Party is trying desperately to stop Trump from earning enough delegates to win the nomination on the first ballot, even to go so far as to repeal a rule passed to stop Ron Paul and ensure the nomination of Mitt Romney just four short years ago. Even in the states that have already voted, such as Louisiana and Tennessee, there are efforts to deny Trump delegates or to convince formerly committed delegates to support another candidate, or no candidate at all. Yet. Now, don’t confuse this with GOP support for Ted Cruz. The party doesn’t want him either. What they want is an open convention where they can settle on a compromise candidate who can win, such as…um…I’ll get back to you on that.

All of this should serve to remind us that we have a president who is a positive role model, a committed family man, a serious thinker and an admirable representative of the United States. He’s had his challenges and burdens and did not really understand just how hard the Republicans would try to thwart him, but he’s learned and adjusted. In the end, we might not get Justice Garland, but we might trade that for the Senate in 2017. I’ll take that deal.

And I think a majority of the people in this country are waking up to the reality of what might happen if we make the wrong choice.

Petition Urges Superdelegates to “Let The Voters Decide”

A petition is circulating asking the Superdelegates in the Democratic race for president to listen to the will of the people in their states and support the candidate the voters selected.

The race for the Democratic Party nomination should be decided by who gets the most votes, and not who has the most support from party insiders.

That’s why we’re calling on all the Democratic superdelegates to pledge to back the will of the voters at the Democratic Party convention in Philadelphia.

Sounds like the democratic way to me!

Bernie Sander’s “Surprised” Appearance on The Late Show – Video

Democratic presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders, received a thunderous applause when he made a “surprise” appearance on the The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. After answering a couple of questions about his campaign for the presidency, Bernie stood up and voiced his concerns for the little man working under Colbert’s desk.

“Hey! There is a human being down here,”  Sanders exclaimed, seeing the man under the table holding a pole. “What is going on. What are you doing to this worker? What kind of operation are you running, Stephen?”

South Carolina Police Pulls Car Over, Searches Passenger’s Rectum – Video

Why? Why did police in South Carolina pull over a driver and felt the need, no, felt the urge to search the passenger’s rectum? Because the female driver and owner of the vehicle, Lakeya Hicks,  had legal paper tags on the car, so that apparently meant a rectum search along the roadside was in order!

The disturbing dashcam video shows police pulling the car over and removing Hicks and her passenger, Elijah Pontoon. Police then explained that because of the passenger’s history, “I’ve got a dog coming in here. Gonna walk a dog around the car.” Also: “You gonna pay for this one, boy.”

After the dog arrived and searched the car for contraband, none was found. Police is then seen going through the car, inside and out, opening he hood, still finding no contraband. The only other place to search was apparently the man’s rectum.

Audio from the video suggests all they found was a hemorrhoid. At the same time, according to a federal lawsuit filed on their behalf, a female officer began searching Hicks, exposing her breasts to the three male officers and anyone else who happened to be on the road.

Again, no contraband was found.

Later, a dejected Medlin can be heard on the radio speaking to a superior after the fruitless search.

“We search the car. There ain’t nothing in the car… And on a search of him, up in his crotch by the butt, I felt something hard. I lifted his pants and pulled the back of his underwear down and I didn’t see anything but I didn’t get all the way up in there to get no vertical up shot. I just pulled his underwear back, but I didn’t see nothing. But it felt, he said it was a hemorrhoid. It ain’t no… it was a rock. It was a rock of crack. It’s gotta be a rock. He’s got it up in his butt.”

Medlin sadly concludes, “But there ain’t no way to justify. He said, ‘I got nothing here. That’s a long time ago. I ain’t doing nothing.’ He said it’s a hemorrhoid. I got nothing else to go on. Nothing. Yeah we’re gonna have to cut him loose here.”

Lawsuit Filed Against Donald Trump

They are standing up against the bullying tactics of Donald Trump. Three protesters who say they were harmed at a Donald Trump posse gathering have filed a lawsuit against Trump and his campaign.

The suit was filed Thursday on behalf of three protesters seen being pushed by angry crowd members at a March 1 Louisville rally.

“Each time he said ‘get them out,’ Trump intended for his supporters to use unwanted, harmful physical violence to remove protesters,” the suit reads

Violence at Trump rallies, at least two of which involved audience members sucker punching protesters as they were being led away, have raised questions about whether the Republican front-runner’s speeches and tone are inciting supporters. Trump has denied that he condones violence.

The lawsuit filed Thursday was on behalf of Kashiya Nwanguma, a 21-year-old college student; Molly Shah, a 36-year-old activist; and Henry Brousseau, a 17-year-old high school student.

An Angry Hillary Clinton – “I am so sick of the Sanders campaign lying about me” – Video

Bernie Sanders is proud of the over 6 million donors who have contributed to his campaign. And he is not afraid to hit his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, for taking big dollars from big donors. According to Sanders, when you are funded by big money, it is easy for big money to dictate your policies.

But Hillary Clinton has had enough!

A visibly angry Hillary Clinton lashed out at an environmental activist Thursday while accusing the Bernie Sanders campaign of “lying” about donations sent from the fossil fuel industry to her campaign.

“I am so sick, I am so sick of the Sanders campaign lying about me. I’m sick of it,” Clinton told Eva Resnick-Day of Greenpeace, who confronted the Democratic presidential front-runner on the rope-line after a campaign stop in New York. Clinton acknowledged that some of her donors work for fossil fuel companies.

Greenpeace released video of the encounter, which showed Clinton jabbing her finger at the activist. The former New York senator also appeared frustrated earlier in the day when Sanders supporters interrupted her speech, shouting “she wins, we lose” in unison before being escorted out of the event at SUNY Purchase.

Some will say the truth hurts!

Another Donald Trump Executive Arrested for Beating Up a Woman

The mother of two was on the receiving end of some unwelcome aggression from another Donald Trump executive.

The executive who helps run Donald Trump’s hotel chain was arrested for attacking a young mother outside his ritzy downtown Brooklyn condo.

Nathan Crisp was charged with misdemeanor assault for repeatedly slamming a 27-year-old mother of two against the sidewalk during a clash outside his doorman building on Gold St. on Easter Sunday.

Victim Sheneik McCallum claims she pulled over outside the Avalon Fort Greene condo tower to make sure one of her infants was secured into a baby seat when Crisp yelled at her to get off private property.

Yea, you’ve heard and seen the video of Trump’s campaign manager assaulting a reporter. This story isn’t about that situation, it’s about another one of Trump’s

After the two continued to quarrel, Crisp, 34, allegedly blocked the young mom’s car with his own vehicle and attacked her, according to community advocate Tony Herbert. He threw her to the ground twice, according to cops.

Poll – Democrats’ Chance of Winning Better with Bernie – #BetterWithBernie

A new Quinnipiac University poll finds that in a general election match up, Senator Bernie Sanders has a better chance of beating any of the Republican candidates than Secretary Hillary Clinton.

Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton would beat Trump by a 53 to 33 percent margin, pollsters found. She would also top Cruz by a 21 points and edge Kasich by 5 points.

Bernie Sanders’s victory margin over Trump, meantime, would be 24 points, 56 to 32 percent. He would beat Cruz by 28 points and Kasich by 10 points.

The telephone survey was conducted from March 22 through March 29, ending as Trump’s campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, was charged with battery. It was completed before the businessman’s comments on abortion sparked a firestorm.

Former Republican Presidential Candidate Cannot Spell “United States” – PIC

Marco Rubio, the defacto brains of the Republican party and favorite son of the Republican establishment, dropped out of his bid to become president a few weeks ago. But now the real reason for him suspending his campaign becomes evident – Rubio cannot spell “United States” and his spell check is apparently not working either.

In a letter to the Chairman of the Alaska Republican Party, Marco Rubio told Peter Goldberg that he does not wish to release the delegates he earned while running for president, thus making sure that his delegates “vote for me on at least the first nominating ballot at the national convention.”

In other words, Rubio is still hoping to become the Republican nominee for president of the United States. But maybe he should first learn to spell “United States” before trying to become its president. It’s United Marco, not “Untied.”

Republican Senator Meets with Obama’s Supreme Court Nominee

Sen. Mark Kirk on Tuesday became the first Republican to say he might be willing to vote for President Obama’s nominee to the Supreme Court, The Hill reports.

“Obviously I would consider voting for him,” the Illinois senator told reporters before he met with the nominee, Judge Merrick Garland. “That’s the whole purpose.”

Kirk, who is facing a difficult reelection race this year, rebuked his colleagues for refusing to give any consideration to the judge.
“We need open-minded, rational, responsible people to keep an open mind to make sure the process works,” Kirk told a throng of reporters packed in his Capitol office. “I think when you just say ‘I’m not going to meet with him at all,’ that’s too close-minded.”

Kirk’s meeting with Garland — the first by any Republican on Capitol Hill — came just hours after the Supreme Court issued its first major split decision since the death of Justice Antonin Scalia. The 4-4 deadlock represented a major victory to labor unions, which had faced the possibility of mandatory union fees being overturned for public sector workers.

Donald Trump Supporter Pepper-sprays Teenage Girl Outside Trump Rally – Video

Hey, if the candidate approves, then why not?

We’ve all heard Donald Trump and the not-so-subtle messages he give to his rally members, telling them things like, back in the day protesters would be carried out in stretchers, or his defense of a rally member who sucker-punched another man when that man wasn’t looking. Trump announced that he would ask his campaign to look into providing the puncher with financial help.

So hearing or seeing this video of another Trump supporter attacking someone, is now the norm.

The incident happened outside a Trump rally in Wisconsin when a 15-year-old Trump protester was sprayed.

A video from the tense scene shows the girl, wearing glasses, appear to swing out at someone off camera before a hand reaches into the frame and deploys the noxious spray. The girl then stumbles away, rubbing at her face.
