The Pentagon – Republicans Are Wasting Millions on Benghazi Investigations

This is your fiscal conservatives doing what they do best – wasting taxpayer’s money.

The Pentagon said Tuesday that its work to comply with the six congressional investigations into the September 2012 attack in Benghazi, Libya, has cost the military millions of dollars and thousands of man hours.

The Pentagon said in a letter to Rep. Adam Smith (Wash.), the top Democrat on the House Armed services Committee, that Defense Department officials have participated in 50 congressional hearings, briefings and interviews about the attack.

“We continue to work fervently to address outstanding items which include a document request from the chairman of the Armed Services Committee (HASC) and six additional interviews of military personnel by HASC and House Oversight and Government Reform Committee staff,” wrote Elizabeth King, assistant secretary for legislative affairs.
Smith requested the estimate from the Pentagon in December. In response, he blasted the Armed Services Committee for continuing to investigate the terrorist attack on the U.S. compound in Benghazi, which killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.

Smith wrote to House Armed Services Chairman Buck McKeon (R-Calif.), calling on him to drop the committee’s investigation.

“We must stop wasting this committee’s and our military’s scarce resources chasing a scandal that does not exist,” Smith wrote in a letter obtained by The Hill.

“More than any other committee in Congress, this committee should understand the financial strain on the Department of Defense, which is being made worse by these ongoing and ridiculous investigations,” Smith said.

It does not appear that McKeon intends to abandon the investigation, however.

Once Again, Obama Slams Romney on Russia

Mitt Romney seems to have all the answers, except how to win an election or how to accept the reality that he lost and bow out gracefully.

The two-time loser jumped at the opportunity to attack President Obama on his handling of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He actually called the president naive.

Said Romney on a Sunday talk show;

“There’s no question but that the president’s naivete with regards to Russia, and his faulty judgment about Russia’s intentions and objectives, has led to a number of foreign policy challenges that we face.

“And unfortunately, not having anticipated Russia’s intentions, the president wasn’t able to shape the kinds of events that may have been able to prevent the kinds of circumstances that you’re seeing in the Ukraine, as well as the things that you’re seeing in Syria.”

Back in 2012 while he was running his failed campaign for president, Romney called Russia “our number one geopolitical foe.” For that statement, Romney took some well deserved criticisms from the president and he appeared weak on foreign policy like someone with no knowledge of what they speak, almost reminiscent of Sarah Palin.

This was Romney’s chance vindicate himself, to tell everyone that he was correct in calling Russia our number one foe. But again, he got slammed by the President.

“With respect to Romney’s assertion that Russia is our number one geopolitical foe, the truth of the matter is that America has a whole lot of challenges. Russia’s actions are a problem. They don’t pose the number one national security threat to the United States. I continue to be much more concerned when it comes to our security with the prospect of a nuclear weapon going off in Manhattan.”

Time to have a seat Romney, this match was over almost two years ago.

New Poll – Americans Have Had Enough With Talks Of Repealing Obamacare

The Republicans – like a squeaky, noisy wheel begging for attention – continues their ill-fated push for repealing Obamacare and replacing it with nothing. It’s all they have. The repeal call keeps their base salivating for blood, preferably from that guy in the White House.

But that’s their base. The rest of the country is seeing the importance of everyone having healthcare, and the positive effect healthcare has on the rest of the economy. The rest of the country is beginning to appreciate Obamacare.

Today’s new Kaiser Family Foundation tracking poll finds that unfavorable views of the ACA are shrinking.

The new poll finds that in March, 38 percent viewed the law favorably, versus 46 percent who saw it unfavorably. That’s a substantial narrowing from the 34-50 spread during the dark days of January, and a return almost to where opinion was in September (39-43), before the rollout disaster began.

– Support for repeal continues to shrink. Only 18 percent want to repeal the law and not replace it, while all of 11 percent want to repeal and replace it with a GOP alternative — a grand total of 29 percent. Meanwhile, 49 percent want to keep the law and improve it, and another 10 percent want to keep it as is — a total of 59 percent.

Among indys, that keep/improve versus repeal/replace spread is 52-31. Republicans are all alone here, with their spread at 31-58.

That overall keep-versus-repeal spread has improved for the law since February (when it was 56-31), and even more so since December and October, suggesting a clear trend

Obama Administration Extends Healthcare Enrollment for a Select Few

With less than a week left for people to sign up for health insurance, the Obama administration said Tuesday that it would allow more time for those who had tried to apply but were blocked by technical problems with the federal exchange.

Several states running their own exchanges, including Maryland, Minnesota and Nevada, have taken similar steps in the last two weeks.

Open enrollment was scheduled to end on Monday for all Americans. The White House had previously insisted that the deadline was firm and would not be extended.

Under the move planned by the administration, some people will be given a special enrollment period, beyond the deadline, if they can show they were not able to enroll because of an error by the federal exchange or by the Department of Health and Human Services. Federal officials allowed a special enrollment period, on a case-by-case basis, for some people who were unable to meet the Dec. 24, 2013, enrollment deadline for coverage starting Jan. 1 of this year.

White House Petition to Give Alaska Back to Russia Gains Support

Thanks Sarah Palin! Because if you, Americans, even some in Alaska, have had enough;! I blame you!

A White House petition is gathering thousands of signatures urging the return of Alaska to Russia. The U.S. bought Alaska from Russia in 1867 for $7.2 million.

The “Alaska Back to Russia” petition was created by an unnamed Anchorage resident (S.V.) last week and it has already gotten more than 18,000 signatures. The petition needs 100,000 signers by April 20 to warrant a response from the Obama administration.

The petition reads:

“Groups Siberian russians crossed the Isthmus (now the Bering Strait) 16-10 thousand years ago. Russian began to settle on the Arctic coast, Aleuts inhabited the Aleutian Archipelago. First visited Alaska August 21, 1732, members of the team boat St. Gabriel »under the surveyor Gvozdev and assistant navigator I. Belgium Newspaper Apologizes For Depicting POTUS, First Lady As Apes

Belgium newspaper De Morgen has apologized for depicting President Barack Obama and First LadyMichelle Obama as apes on their cover after coming under fire over the weekend, reports Huffington Post.

De Morgen, known as a progressive newspaper, claims that the cover and accompanying article were attempts at satire meant to skewer racism, not perpetuate it.

That didn’t work out too well for them.

News.Be translates the apology below:

“When you consider the fragment apart from its context, which is a properly worked out satirical section, then you don’t see the joke but just a picture evoking sheer racism. That was a risk we didn’t consider enough beforehand”, the statement goes.

“We wrongly assumed that racism is no longer accepted, and that in this way it could be the subject of a joke”, De Morgen continues. The editors say that overlooked the fact that in the United States, the comparison between blacks and monkeys is still something that pops up regularly today.

De Morgen therefore apologises to everyone who may feel insulted by the cartoon. “In this case, we plead guilty of bad taste. We continue to be on the side of those that are battling any form of racism. Don’t hesitate to contact us if we would go too far on a different occasion.”

The “joke” was supposed to be that the image was submitted by Russia’s president Vladimir Putin in light of the Cold-War relationship currently growing between the United States and Russia.

Obama traveled to the Netherlands this morning in an attempt to gain support for stiffer sanctions against Russia, making the timing of the “satirical” piece even more startling.

Nigerian-born journalist Chikwa Unigwe tweeted the image and explained it in context of structural and interpersonal racism in Belgium, sparking swift and sharp social media reaction.

Kenyan Woman Slept With 300+ Men For Revenge

A Kenyan woman (pictured) who claims a man raped and infected her with HIV at a party recently admitted to sleeping with more than 300 men in revenge, the Kenyan Daily Post reports.

The woman, who remains anonymous, shared her story through her Facebook page “Kenyan Scandals.”

“I’m 19 and a 2nd year here at Kabarak Uni,” she said. “I joined this college a virgin; though I’ve had boyfriends before, my parents are strict so having sex was never on my mind.”

But that apparently changed late last year during a visit to a club.

“Sep 22nd 2013 is a day I’ll never forget. We went clubbing in town and got drunk with some senior students then went back [to] hostels for party round 2,” she continued. However, she woke up naked the next day to a man named Javan.

Upon asking if they’d used a condom for intercourse, Javan said yes. However, the woman soon noticed sperm near her vaginal area while taking a bath.

I wanted to commit suicide, she shared. I feared getting pregnant [and] HIV, took contras [and] hoped I was HIV-free. Unfortunately, that was not the case: In November I tested HIV [positive]. I felt like cutting off my neck.

She confronted Javan who claimed he was HIV-negative.

I was so depressed and took alcohol to die, I even bought poison, the pain was just unbearable; how was I [going to] face the world? I let my parents down, I gave up on the world and just wanted to end my life. My future had been ruined, somehow someone had to pay.

She reportedly began exacting revenge by sleeping with as many men as possible. To date, she claims, she has slept with 324 men.

Not a day passes without me having sex, mostly 4 people per day,” she stated. “Nothing will stop me from accomplishing my mission by continuing to sleep around, you never know but maybe you have slept with me or your husband, boyfriend, brother, father or any has slept with me.

The woman’s eventual plan is to infect 2,000 men with the virus before year’s end, according to XNaija.

One commenter on the Kenyan Daily Post says he has slept with the woman:

OMG! I know this lady! the commenter typed. I’ve done it with her more than thrice since Jan this year! Lady, you didn’t have to do this to me. Revenging on the wrong people is unfair. I’m confused.

There, technicians on the flight were interrogate because they wanted to “abscond to China.” Rush goes on to say that after the interrogation was completed, the United States government had everyone on the plane “murdered.”

Hillary Clinton Sheds a Light on Her 2016 Presidential Ambition

Over the weekend, she said that she would “make a decision soon.”

According to the Texas newspaper The Monitor, Clinton made the comments at a Texas fundraising event Sunday for the Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton Foundation during a question and answer session with Doctors Hospital at Renaissance CEO Israel Rocha.

When Rocha asked the former first lady if she would run in 2016, Clinton said she “would make a decision soon,” Abby Reyna, an attendee at the event, told The Monitor.

Another attendee, Democratic state Rep. Bobby Guerra gave a different version of what he recalled Clinton as having said, according to The Monitor.

“She said she would make a decision at sometime in the future, at the appropriate time,” Guerra said.

Clinton made a speech at the event about the state of U.S. healthcare and also talked about some of the lessons she learned from other countries as secretary of state.

Republican Group Hires an Actress to Talk Bad About Obamacare

So this is what they have resorted to. Having all their other Obamacare horror stories debunked as partisan hypocrisy,  Republicans are now hiring actresses to act in their an – Obamacare ads.

An Americans for Prosperity attack ad directed at Sen. Mark Begich (D-AK) over Obamacare purports to feature a voter for Alaska, but the woman is actually an actress who lives in the state of Maryland, according to The New York Times.

In the ad, a woman criticizes Begich, who is up for re-election in 2014, and President Barack Obama for the “promises they made to pass Obamacare.”

“They knew the real truth,”  the woman said in the ad. “Some are even losing their jobs. For too many of us costs are going way up. Senator Begich didn’t listen. How can I ever trust him again? It just isn’t fair. Alaska deserves better.”

In fact, the woman speaking is an actress Connie Bowman, who regularly does voiceovers as well as appearances in print ads.

The Koch brothers-funded Americans for Prosperity ad doesn’t explicitly say the woman is an Alaskan, but the Begich campaign slammed the spot for the implication.

“Today’s misleading ad from the Koch brothers is just more evidence that even billions of dollars can’t buy integrity,” Begich spokeswoman Rachel Barinbaum told the Times.

Christie’s People Clears Christie Of All Wrongdoings in BridgeGate Scandal

The investigation was done by his own people. They found nothing wrong and that’s their final answer.

With his office suddenly engulfed in scandal over lane closings at the George Washington Bridge, Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey two months ago summoned a pair of top defense lawyers from an elite law firm to the State House and asked them to undertake an extensive review of what had gone wrong.

Now, after 70 interviews and at least $1 million in legal fees to be paid by state taxpayers, that review is set to be released, and according to people with firsthand knowledge of the inquiry, it has uncovered no evidence that the governor was involved in the plotting or directing of the lane closings.

The review is the first of multiple inquiries into a scandal that has jeopardized Mr. Christie’s political future. It will be viewed with intense skepticism, not only because it was commissioned by the governor but also because the firm conducting it, Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, has close ties to the Christie administration and the firm’s lawyers were unable to interview three principal players in the shutdowns, including Bridget Anne Kelly, the governor’s former deputy chief of staff.
