Gwyneth Paltrow to Obama – “You’re so handsome that I can’t speak properly”

Gwyneth Paltrow was awestruck in President Obama’s presence when she introduced him at a fundraiser in her home on Thursday. No, she wasn’t awestruck because the President of the United States was standing on her property, Paltrow was in awe of the man’s “handsome” looks.

“You’re so handsome that I can’t speak properly,” the actress, singer and food writer gushed after introducing Obama to several hundred supporters seated on white fold-out chairs in the lush backyard of her home in the movie star haven of Brentwood, a neighborhood in Los Angeles.

In a not-so-subtle reference to her “conscious uncoupling” earlier this year from husband Chris Martin, Paltrow said it was a “profound honor” to have Obama in the home she shares with Apple and Moses, her two children with the Coldplay lead vocalist.

Paltrow hosted a reception and dinner benefiting the Democratic Party that marked the start of a three-day, California fundraising swing for Obama. He is scheduled to attend three otherDemocratic National Committee fundraisers in Los Angeles and San Francisco before returning to Washington on Saturday.

Tickets to the reception at Paltrow’s home started at $1,000, while dinner tickets cost a minimum of $15,000.

Actors Julia Roberts and Bradley Whitford were among those attending.

Forbes Compared Obama to Reagan – Obama “Outperformed” Reagan in “All Categories”

Bob Deitrick: ”President Reagan has long been considered the best modern economic President.  So we compared his performance dealing with the oil-induced recession of the 1980s with that of President Obama and his performance during this ‘Great Recession.’

“As this unemployment chart shows, President Obama’s job creation kept unemployment from peaking at as high a level as President Reagan, and promoted people into the workforce faster than President Reagan.

“President Obama has achieved a 6.1% unemployment rate in his sixth year, fully one year faster than President Reagan did.  At this point in his presidency, President Reagan was still struggling with 7.1% unemployment, and he did not reach into the mid-low 6% range for another full year.  So, despite today’s number, the Obama administration has still done considerably better at job creating and reducing unemployment than did the Reagan administration.

“We forecast unemployment will fall to around 5.4% by summer, 2015.  A rate President Reagan was unable to achieve during his two terms.”

……..

There are a lot of reasons voters elect a candidate.  Jobs and the economy are just one category of factors.  But, for those who place a high priority on jobs, economic performance and the markets the data clearly demonstrates which presidential administration has performed best.  And shows a very clear trend one can expect to continue into 2015.

Economically, President Obama’s administration has outperformed President Reagan’s in all commonly watched categories.  Simultaneously the current administration has reduced the deficit, which skyrocketed under Reagan.  Additionally, Obama has reduced federal employment, which grew under Reagan (especially when including military personnel,) and truly delivered a “smaller government.”  Additionally, the current administration has kept inflation low, even during extreme international upheaval, failure of foreign economies (Greece) and a dramatic slowdown in the European economy.

Fox News’ Tells Generals – Put Your Stars Down And Walk Out On Obama – Video

The only ‘news’ from Fox News is the ‘News’ that comes after the word “Fox.” If that word wasn’t included in the name, then they would more appropriately be called ‘Fox Opinions’ instead.

Here is an example explaining why I make that statement. What “news” network would advice the Generals in any administration to “put their stars down and walk out?”

President Obama is not George Bush and should never be confused with Bush. George Bush had a reputation of being a numskull, incapable of formulating an independent thought, the marbles in his brain were the toys of Dick Cheney. Barack Obama on the other hand is the total opposite, and has been accused by some in his own circle as taking his time when making decisions. Getting all the information first and thinking things through completely.

Over the last few days, some former workers in the President’s circle have been making the rounds, promoting their books about their time in the administration and insights they gained while working with the president. And like any other smart book salesperson, these former White House workers are telling the media exactly what they want to hear – perceived faults of the president – in hopes of bringing more attention and publicity to their books.

Leon Panetta has been extremely critical, blaming the president for the rise of ISIS and being a vocal opponent to the president’s “no boots on the ground” strategy. The media loves hearing this stuff and Panetta is feeding off their love of Obama-hate. Talking about positive attributes of the President apparently makes bad television, so Panetta has been making the rounds, his criticisms getting repeated airplay on television, his book sales undoubtedly rising.

So needless to say, Fox News found “news” in Panetta’s claims and decided to share it with their loyal fans. Their discussion focused on Leon’s critical statements and the statements of couple other Generals on the president’s “no boots” strategy in fighting ISIS. They all want the president to put “boots on the ground” to fight ISIS in Iraq and Syria and his decision not to do so is upsetting to them.

One of the ferns on the Fox couch expressed how frustrated the Generals must have been, when they told the President to put boots on the ground and he refused..

“You know what’s curious about the books that come out, is it’s pretty clear that in this administration the president of the United States ultimately decides what to do. But we’ve heard from Gates, we’ve heard from Pinata, they’ve given him great advice and he doesn’t take it. You’ve got to figure if you’re them and you’re sitting in a meeting and you make the case – and Hillary Clinton had a book that came out too – you make the case why you should do certain thinks a certain way and he says ‘no, we’re not going to do it that way,’ you just got to figure they’re sitting around the table going, [hits himself in the forehead] ‘no, not again!'”

And then this piece of news from another guest was the response.

“Why would they sit around the table Steve, they should just lay their stars down and walk out!”

First, a congressman claimed he is advising generals in the Obama administration to quit, now Fox is doing the same. Could you imagine the size of the posse they would have sent to take you to the gallows if you, as a liberal, had suggested that the Generals in the Bush administration should have quit? Especially in a time of War?

True Story – Crooked New York Cop Caught on Video Robbing Brooklyn Victim – Video

This is the story about a man, going out to celebrate his birthday with his wife. According to those who know him, he is a hard working man and on this particular occasion, he withdrew $1300 from his account for the special celebration.

This is the story of a crooked New York cop, who apparently uses ‘Stop and Frisk’ as an way to carry out his crookalogy.

This is a story of what happens when the hard working man, his hard earned $1300 and the crooked cop cross paths on a street in New York.

The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office is investigating the incident, which was captured in cellphone video footage and turned over to the prosecutors and the NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau.

The man and his sister, who were protesting what they called a “robbery,” were also pepper-sprayed by the officer during the incident.

“One of the most disturbing things about the video is the other cops standing around watching and doing nothing to stop the wrongdoing,” the siblings’ lawyer, Robert Marinelli, said, according to the news site.

Lamard Joye said that the officer took $1,300—which has still not been accounted for—from his pocket and pepper-sprayed him and his sister, Lateefah Joye, who was trying to get the officer’s badge number.

“I believe that this officer made an assumption that any money Mr. Joye possessed was obtained illegally and therefore he would not report the theft. This assumption was wrong. Mr. Joye is a hardworking taxpayer deserving respect,” Marinelli said.

Lamard had taken the money out of his bank account because he was planning to take his wife out for his 35th birthday, according to the lawyer. According to the Daily News, the incident occurred a little after midnight on Sept. 16, near a housing project in the Coney Island neighborhood.

The video begins with Lamard being pushed by the police officer against a fence. The cop seems to go into the man’s pocket, pulling out the cash. Lamard immediately starts protesting.

“Give me my money,” Lamard demands.

The officer proceeds to pepper-spray Lamard, even as onlookers begin to protest.

Stop and Frisk, the infamous police procedure put in place by former mayor Mike Bloomberg, gives New York police officers the authority to walk up to anyone on the streets of New York, stop that individual and frisk them for no reason. Reports have called into question the effectiveness of the program, showing that over 90% of those stopped had no weapons or no evidence of wrong doings.

Mike Huckabee Threatens to Leave The Republican Party – Audio

Photo: REUTERS/Brian Snyder

Since the United States Supreme Court decided not to take up same sex marriage, over 30 more states have adopted the lower courts’ decision and allowed gay couples to marry their partners. This is not going over well with some Republicans and some, like former Republican Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, is demanding that the party stand up and defend its values.

Huckabee warns that if the Republicans fail to lead, he and more like him, will leave the party and become members of the independent.

On Wednesday’s broadcast of American Family Association’s Today’s Issues program, Huckabee lambasted the Republican party and it’s leaders for allowing gays to marry and giving up on their so-called “moral” obligation in being the obvious superior party.

*Eyeroll*

“I am utterly exasperated with Republicans and the so-called leadership of the Republicans who have abdicated on this issue,” warning that by doing so the GOP will “guarantee they’re going to lose every election in the future.”

“Guarantee it,” he said before proclaiming that the Republicans are going to “lose guys like me and a whole bunch of still God-fearing, Bible-believing people” if the party does not stand and fight on the issues of gay marriage and abortion.

“I’m gone,” Huckabee warned. “I’ll become an independent. I’ll start finding people that have guts to stand. I’m tired of this”:

Another Police Officer Kills Another Black Teenager in Missouri

(AP Photo/St. Louis Post-Dispatch, David Carson)

According to the police officer, who at the time was off duty and not in uniform, the 18-year-old teenager saw him coming and began running away. Then, the teenager approached the officer and fired 3 rounds at the officer. The officer then returned 17 rounds, hitting and killing the black 18-year-old. An investigation is being conducted, and according to the family of the 18-year old, he was not armed.

Hopefully, the police investigation will get to the bottom of what really happened in Missouri on Thursday morning, a little over a month of another police shooting in Ferguson MO., when another 18-year-old was shot and killed as he ran away from another police officer.

St. Louis Police Chief Col. Sam Dotson said the 32-year-old officer was patrolling the Shaw neighborhood for a private security company late Wednesday when the shooting happened.

The officer said three men in the street ran away when they spotted him, Dotson told reporters at a news conference early Thursday. The way that one of the men ran — grabbing at his waistband, slightly lopsided — indicated that he was carrying a weapon, so the officer chased him, Dotson said.

The man approached the officer in an aggressive way, an altercation ensued and the man fired at the officer, the police chief said. The officer returned fire and killed him.

Ballistic evidence recovered from the scene indicates that the man fired three rounds at the officer before his weapon jammed, Dotson said, adding that the gun was also recovered.

The officer fired 17 shots, Dotson said. He said he didn’t know how many of those shots hit the suspect or why the officer fired that many shots. The officer was not injured.

“An investigation will decide if the officer’s behavior was appropriate,” he said at police headquarters.

People who described themselves as relatives of the dead man told The St. Louis Post Dispatch that he was not armed.

Dotson described the officer as a six-year veteran of the St. Louis Police Department, and said the man who was killed was 18 years old and black.

He did not name either man.

Republican Lawmakers Suing The Voters of Arizona

Republicans are so thirsty for power that they are taking the people of Arizona all the way to the Supreme Court.

Arizona voters formed an independent commission to handle all the redistricting in the state. Their goal was to take the politics out of the process and have districts drawn in a more transparent manner.

But the Republican-led state legislature couldn’t allow the people to make that decision. Drawing districts in their favor is a great way for them to maintain control, so these Republicans took the people to court stating that according to the constitution, they are the ones to draw the maps.

The lawsuit was dismissed by the lower courts, but on Thursday, the Supreme Court said that it will look at the merits of the case.

If the power hungry Republicans in Arizona win their suit against the people of that state, it can set a precedent for other states with independent commissions to follow suit.

Suing the people who voted you into office? Yeah, you can’t get any more Republican than that.

Police Breaks Car Window to Tase Passenger For Not Wearing a Seat belt – Video

‘To Protect and To Serve’ was once again thrown out the window as overly aggressive police officers demands an ID from a passenger in a car, then breaks his window to tase him when he asked for their supervisor.

HAMMOND, IN — After witnessing a motorist allegedly not wearing a seatbelt, police escalated a violent confrontation to the point of shattering a window to extract a passenger when he claimed not to have an ID.

“Oh my God, he’s pulling me over like I robbed a bank,” recalled Lisa Mahone, the driver and alleged seatbelt violator. “The whole situation was just crazy.”

Ms. Mahone was riding with her boyfriend and 2 children to the hospital to see her mother, who was literally on her deathbed.

“I gave him my license and insurance. I also let him know at the beginning to please hurry up because my mom is about to die,” Ms. Mahone said.

Hammond Police, fishing for more offenses, demanded that her adult passenger, Jamal Jones, produce an identification. Mr. Jones initially declined to provide an identification, but when officers continued to insist, he opened up his backpack to look for one.

That’s when police drew their guns.

Mr. Jones requested a supervisor, and Ms. Mahone dialed 9-1-1 to describe the situation and request the same.

“I am scared. And the man–pulled a gun out. A gun! Why do my kids have to see that,” Mahone told the 9-1-1 operator.

Mr. Jones expressed reluctance to get out of the vehicle due to the officers’ aggressiveness and mentioned that “People are getting shot by the police.”

“You all got a white shirt?” Jones asked, referring to the supervisor the family had been requesting. The officer responded, “Look at my shoulder, dumbass. I got bars.”

“You’re going to come out of the car one way or another,” the officer menaced. “You want your kids to see you come out through the window?”
Shortly thereafter, the HPD officers rammed a metal object through the passenger window and began to jolt Mr. Jones with a taser. Jones was yanked from of the vehicle, and Ms. Mahone and her children were showered in shards of broken glass.

Scott Brown Now In Favor of Women’s Contraception

Scott Brown is just another Republican in the long list of Republicans going back on their former positions to win an election.

In a debate on Monday, the former Massachusetts senator said that he always supported a woman’s choice and access to contraception. This is a new position of course, because Scott Brown is one of the co-sponsors of a legislation that blocks women’s access to the same thing he now says he always supported.

“To think that I don’t support women’s rights and ability to get contraception is just a false premise,” Brown said during the debate against Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH). “I have since I was 18 years old.”

Talking Points Memo points out that the legislation Scott Walker previously sponsored, gave employers the right to take away contraception access from employees based on that employer’s belief.

But that was then and this is now. And according to Scott Walker’s new position, that legislation he recently co-sponsored happened before he turned 18.

New Poll – Alison Lundergan Grimes Overtakes Mitch McConnell in Kentucky

(AP Photo/Stephen Lance Dennee)

Maybe the voters in Kentucky are smarter than we thought. They kept voting for Mitch McConnell election after election, sending him back to Congress even when it was clear the Republican did nothing for the state. So maybe in this cycle these voters were just pulling our legs all along. According to a new poll, these voters now favor Alison Grimes.

We can all exhale, although, briefly!

After two polls in his favor, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has slipped behind Democratic challenger Alison Lundergan Grimes in his re-election bid, according to the latest Bluegrass Poll.

Grimes, Kentucky’s secretary of state, now leads the five-term senator 46 percent to 44 percent among likely voters, the survey found. Libertarian candidate David Patterson had 3 percent support in the poll, while 7 percent of likely voters said they were undecided.

While Grimes’ advantage is within the poll’s margin of error, it represents a 6-point swing to the Democrat since the survey was last conducted in late August.

Republican Senate Candidate – Outsourcing, “I’m proud of it”

Proud of taking American jobs and outsourcing them to other countries. This Republican Senate candidate is only saying out loud what that the rest of the Republican Party say in secret.

U.S. Senate candidate David Perdue said Monday he is proud of outsourcing he has done in his career as a corporate executive, pushing blame for lost jobs back on Washington.

Perdue, a former CEO for Dollar General and Republican nominee to replace retiring Sen. Saxby Chambliss, was stung by his own words last week in an article on Politico.com. The Washington political news website quoted Perdue from a 2005 deposition where he said he “spent most of my career” outsourcing.

“Defend it? I’m proud of it,” he said in a press stop at The White House restaurant in Buckhead. “This is a part of American business, part of any business. Outsourcing is the procurement of products and services to help your business run. People do that all day.”

Vice President Joe Biden Issues Apology to Turkish Leader

The Vice President spoke to the leader of the Turkish people on Saturday and apologized for comments he made on Thursday, the White House said.

In a speech on Thursday, the Vice President of the United States said that the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has conceded that Turkey mistakenly helped foreign fighters trying to unseat the Syrian government, foreign fighters like ISIS. Needless to say, the statement did not go over well with the Turks, prompting President Erdogan to say that Biden would become “history to me.”

According to the White House, the Vice President apologized “for any implication” that Turkey or other allies had intentionally supplied or helped in the growth of the Islamic State group or other extremists groups in Syria.
