Allow Them To Reintroduce Themselves

Allow them to reintroduce themselves as ROC Nation. Robinson Cano has stunned the baseball world by firing Scott Boras in the middle of extension talks with the Yankees. Boras is the biggest agent in baseball so for Cano to fire him during negotiations is bizarre. As if this wasn’t a strange enough development, soon after ESPNs Buster Olney reported the split, word circulated that Cano had found new representation. Cano signed a deal with hip hop mogul Jay Z.

At first I thought reports had to be wrong but apparently Jay Z has started a new endeavor. He has partnered with CAA talent agency to start his own sports management agency by the name of ROC Nation. Jay Z’s first client is Robinson Cano. When reached for a statement, Boras told members of the New York media that he hadn’t heard from Cano about a split but a tweet from Cano told a different story.

Rumors have been swirling and sources have been speaking. The word is that former Boras clients, Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixiera had been in Cano’s ear about firing Boras. They allegedly told him that parting ways with Boras could only help his image with the fan base. Rodriguez and Teixiera both have fired Boras in the past, but only after major contract negotiations. Cano is the first major name to ever bounce the super agent before a big pay day.

Another rumor swirling is why Boras was not alerted of this blockbuster deal. The rumor is that the Yankees offered Boras a 6 year deal worth $27.5 million a year and Boras told the Yanks “no way” without consulting with Cano. If that is true, it makes sense why Boras would be the last to know about his termination.

As for Cano’s decision to sign with Jay Z, a lot of thought has gone into that. Sources say the Cano wants to be a name brand both on and off the field. Sweeny Murti from WFan said he was told Cano wants to be like Jeter and sees that only being possible in New York. Cano sees Jay Z as the best way of accomplishing all this. All in all, this move seems to be the first win of the season for the Yankees. The likelihood of Cano staying in pinstripes is much greater now that Boras is out and Hova is in.

Super Bowl Saturday? NFL Discusses Contingency For XLVIII

This past week’s blizzard in the Northeast has brought even more attention to the already real possibility of weather playing a factor in next year’s Super Bowl. Super Bowl XLVIII is scheduled to be played at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey early next February. This marks the first time the NFL has decided to host the big game in a cold weather/open air stadium. Traditionally, the game is either in a warm climate city or played in a dome.

The decision to host the Super Bowl in New Jersey has been a controversial one but has also opened up the possibility for other great cold weather stadiums to play host to Football’s biggest game. Stadiums such as Gillette Stadium in New England or Lambeau Field in Green Bay. The league expects next years Super Bowl to break all sorts of records from attendance to viewers to media coverage. But what happens if it snows? Like really, really snows.

The NFL is discussing contingency plans for such a scenario. Some ideas are moving the game up a day and having it on Saturday night if a storm is rolling in on Sunday, or even pushing the game until Tuesday or Wednesday if need be. However, there are major flaws with both of these plans. MetLife Stadium seats 82,566 people. It is the highest capacity stadium in the NFL and that means it will likely be the highest attended Super Bowl ever. If the day of the game changes, 82,566 people will have to change their plans. Many will be from out of town so those changes will include flight changes and hotel extensions. Further more, if a blizzard rolls into town, the chances the local airports will have to cancel flights are pretty good so that makes it much harder for fans to find their way to the game.

I’m a supporter of the location of next year’s Super Bowl because I think the cold temperature will provide the ultimate test for the league’s two best teams, but I do not doubt that the NFL is mainly relying on luck for things to go as planned. Super Bowl Saturday doesn’t have the same ring to it.

Cop’s Cannibal Friend Describes Eating Black Woman And White Child

Officer Gilbert Valle III

Last October, 28-year-0ld iNYPD officer Gilbert Valle III, aka the Cannibal Cop, was arrested and charged with “conspiracy to kidnap, cook, and eat” up to 100 women. In court on Wednesday, prosecutors provided additional online chats (some online conversations were released in October) between Valle and one of his online cannibal buddies, who uses the screen name “Moody Blues.” This Moody Blues character was, apparently, far more experienced than Valle, who hadn’t actually eaten anyone yet.

According to the New York Post, Moody Blues boasted about having eaten both a “black woman and a small child.” Valle’s response? “I’ve not had a young white woman. Looking forward to it.”

After that, Moody Blues shared some of his favorite recipes: “I also love roasting whole pelvises, mind you only did that with the little one so far.”

There was also this exchange:

Moody Blues: “If we get someone…and we finish the meat early, would you go for another?”

Valle: “Yeah. I think we would have to give it time though.”

Moody Blues: “Why? Go for a completely different type. I’d love to eat another child.”

And Moody Blues described the taste of human flesh, saying it “isn’t quite like pork, but very meaty.”

So, just another normal day in court for everyone.

More than 8,000 New York City school bus drivers and matrons went on strike over job protection this morning, leaving some 152,000 students, many disabled, trying to find other ways to get to school.

Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott said the strike started at 6 a.m. Wednesday. About 200 bus drivers and bus matrons were assembled on picket lines in the Queens section of the city.

‘The first days will be extremely chaotic,’ Walcott told 1010 WINS radio. ‘It hasn’t happened in New York City in over 33 years.’0ver 33 years’

The union did not immediately return calls and emails seeking comment.

Most of the city’s roughly 1.1 million public school students take public transportation or walk to school.

Those who rely on the buses include 54,000 special education students and others who live far from schools or transportation.

Public Health Flu Emergency Declared In New York

ALBANY, N.Y. — Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared a public health emergency in New York on Saturday in response to this year’s severe flu season.

Cuomo issued an executive order allowing pharmacists to provide flu shots to patients between the ages of six months and 18 years old. The order suspends state law that restricts pharmacists from administering the vaccinations to minors.

Two children in New York and 18 children nationwide have died because of the flu this season.

To date, 19,128 cases of influenza have been reported in New York this year. In comparison, there were 4,404 positive laboratory tests for the flu last year.

Since Jan. 5, the state Department of Health has received reports of 2,884 patients hospitalized with laboratory-confirmed influenza, compared with 1,169 total hospitalizations in 2011.

Man Who Killed Two Firefighters On Christmas Eve – Killing People “Is What I Do Best”

William Spengler Jr. — the man in upstate New York who ambushed four firefighters on Christmas Eve, killing two — left a three-page suicide note including this line, made public by police:

“I still have to see how much of the neighborhood I can burn down and do what I like doing best: killing people.”

Spengler, unfortunately, had experience killing people: earlier in his life, he had spent 17 years in jail for beating his grandmother to death. Police said that the note, which was described as “rambling,” didn’t reveal an explicit motive aside from a desire to “burn his neighborhood down” and murder as many people as possible.

Police also revealed that Spengler had a Bushmaster AR-15 in his possession (along with a revolver and shotgun ), which, of course, was the same gun used by Sandy Hook shooter Adam Lanza. There has not yet been any word from Bushmaster regarding the status of Spengler’s man card.

On a related note, as an ex-con, Spengler could not legally posses any guns, so police plan on tracing those guns back to their source. I’m sure the results of how a convicted murderer got his hands on a rifle that he then used to kill two volunteer firefighters will lead to significant strengthening of gun la— alright, I can’t even finish that sentence with a straight face.

President Obama Sings – “I’m So In Love With You”

Yes, the country is not where it should be as unemployment is still relatively high at 8.5% and the country is very divided along political lines. Yet, is that any reason why President Obama should not indulge the country in a little moment of relief by singing a few bars of a song? Well, if you listened to the talking heads on the right, you would think Mr. Obama just quit the office of the Presidency and is now auditioning full-time for American Idol.

Calm it down folks. The 5 seconds the President used to sing “I’m so in love with you,” did not add to the unemployment, nor did it further divide the country. But if the crowd in the auditorium was any indication, we can safely assume the nation – or at least the Democrats and some Independents – cheered… even if it was just for 5 seconds.

New York Police Intentionally Runs Over Occupy Wall Street Protester – Video

If this isn’t criminal, I don’t know what is.

The New York Police Department has come to a new low, and that is something we thought was almost impossible for this police department to do.

In even more evidence that the rights of American citizens to organize and protest are being trampled on, the video below shows a New York police officer riding his bike over the leg of a man. The officer then parks his bike on the screaming man’s leg, then tried to fend off other protesters trying to help the man.

Later reports confirmed the man’s leg was broken because of the incident.

This ladies and gentlemen, is the police’s definition of “protect and serve!”

Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner – Occupy Wall Street Going To Millionaires Homes

New York’s richest are about to get a visitor or two – or maybe 800, give or take a few. On Tuesday, the leaders of the one month “Occupy” movement will take their message on the road and visit the residences of some of the richest tycoons in New York, including Fox’s Rupert Murdoch and David Koch, one of two Koch brothers who, through their donations, have effectively bought the Republican party.

This report from the Daily News;

The Occupy Wall Street protesters are planning to get in the face of some of New York’s richest tycoons on Tuesday.

A “Millionaires March” will visit the homes – or, more realistically, the gleaming marble lobbies – of five of the city’s wealthiest residents.

On the target list: NewsCorp CEO Rupert Murdoch, JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, conservative billionaire David Koch, financier Howard Milstein and hedge fund mogul John Paulson.

Between 400 and 800 marchers plan to go to their homes to present them with oversize checks to dramatize how much less they will pay when New York State’s 2% tax on millionaires expires at the end of the year.

“Ninety nine percent of the residents of New York are going to suffer from this tax giveaway so the 1% who already live in absolute luxury can put more money in their pockets,” said Doug Forand, one of the march organizers.

“This is fiscally, economically and morally wrong.”

Occupy Wall Street Took The Brooklyn Bridge – 400 People Arrested

Occupy Wall Street has gone nationwide, with protests today in Los Angeles and Maine. But the group of  young people who started the march in New York didn’t take the day off today, they took their protests to the next level and were joined by various unions as well. A faction of the group in New York eventually ended up on the Brooklyn Bridge, less than a mile away from Wall Street.

Below is an unedited video showing some of the protesters, as they shut down the bridge. Reports suggests that some 400 people were arrested.

Occupy Wall Street started about 3 weeks ago by a group of individuals tired with the way Wall Street have manipulated the system and the negative way their actions have affected the economy.
