Mitt Romney Aims to Waterdown the Frothy Santorum

Mitt Romney’s negative attacks in Florida have already destroyed Newt Gingrich and according to every poll we’ve seen, Romney is quickly turning off the independent voters with his do anything and say anything to win mentality.

But Romney won’t allow a few turned-off independents to stop his need to be president, as the richest candidate in the race now aims his guns at Santorum – the only Republican candidate who have so far, stayed above the fray.

Mitt Romney’s campaign is turning its attacks on Rick Santorum after a poll showed the former senator leading in Minnesota.

Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R), a top Romney surrogate, will attack Santorum by way of a noon conference call for his history of supporting earmarks, Romney’s campaign announced Monday morning. Minnesota voters go to the polls for their state’s GOP caucuses on Tuesday.

The campaign also emailed “a summary of Santorum’s false attacks on Massachusetts healthcare” that provides a laundry list of nonpartisan fact-checking websites’ analysis on some of Santorum’s statements criticizing Romney’s health insurance overhaul in Massachusetts.

The fact-check list comes ahead of a planned healthcare speech from Santorum.

Donald Trump Praises Donald Trump For Romney’s Win in Nevada

Mitt Romney should thank his lucky stars or better yet, he should bow down and worship at the altar that donald trump has prepared. For without the endorsement of the great donald – and yes, I intentionally spelled his name that way – Mitt would have lost in Nevada.

Appearing on his weekly television spot on the Fake News Network, donald trump gave praise to donald trump for Mitt’s win in Nevada.

“There was a lot riding on that particular race in Nevada and it was interesting, because the numbers were much, much greater than you thought,” Trump gloated. “And a lot of people are giving me credit for that. And I will accept that credit.”

Fareed Zakaria To Mitt Romney – You Don’t Know The True Meaning Of “Post American”

Fareed Zakaria took on one of Mitt Romney’s claim, that president Obama “fundamentally believes that this next century is the post American century.” It’s a claim Romney has used numerous times in attacking the President.

Fareed’s response… “Mitt, we’re in a different world now.”

Zakaria then went into a “then and now” comparison, showing how things were decades ago when America was the only dominant nation, how things are now. Zakaria credits the growth of these other nations to new leadership and policies, and suggests that the world is no longer the place Mitt Romney talks about and desires to return to.

Zakaria’s take…

“Mitt by and large, you have ridiculed this approach to foreign policy, arguing that you will instead expand the military, act unilaterally and talk apologetically. But chest thumping triumphalism won’t help  you secure America’s interests on ideals in a world populated by powerful new players. You can call this new century whatever you like, but it won’t change reality. After all, just because we call it the world series, doesn’t actually make it one.”

Mitt Romney Thinks Telling This Lie Makes Him More Patriotic

Mitt Romney has said it over and over, but no one ever fact checked his claim. We had no reason to because the statement made us feel extra patriotic. Then again, we are talking about Mitt Romney – the ultimate Flip Flopper –  and with that in mind, Buzzfeed did some simple fact checking and revealed yet another Romney falsehood!

Here’s the lie.

You know, we (Americans) are the only people on Earth that put our hand over our heart during the playing of the National Anthem.

The video and pictures below tells the full story.

Let’s see what the people do in China…

in Brazil…

and how about the people of France?

And Ghana?

Oh Willard. One of your claims to fame is that you ran a successful bid as head of the Olympic Games. Did you not see participants from other countries placing their hands over their hearts too? Or maybe you think Americans are so gullible, that you can say anything and get away with it…!

Newt Gingrich Is At The End Of The Road… Or Is He?

The latest polls in Nevada have Mitt Romney leading and expected to win tonight’s Republican primary election by some 20 points. That is not good news for his rivals and an email to reporters from Newt Gingrich is raising speculations about the future of his campaign.

According to the National Journal, Gingrich will deliver a news conference tonight after the election results. Is he ready to concede the race and throw his support behind Romney, or is he going to continue his defiance against his party’s elite and march on to the next state?

Gingrich’s press conference is scheduled for 11PM in Las Vegas.

Did Newt Gingrich Just Disqualify Himself And Romney From Being President?

Sunday on Fox News, Newt Gingrich became an honesty agent, criticizing flip-flopper Mitt Romney, calling him a liar and asking for honesty. Gingrich actually said this about Romney;

“You cannot be president of the United States if you cannot be honest and candid with the American people. That is a very serious problem.”

“He came into the debate prepared to say things that are false. I think someone who is running for the president has a unique requirement to be honest because the only way you lead the American people is by having them believe in you.”

But if honesty is a qualifier for being President of the United States, and it should, does this mean that by his own standards, Gingrich just disqualified himself?

I asked this question on Facebook, here are some of the replies:

The Policies That Crashed The Economy Are The Policies Romney Will Continue

Mitt Romney made his millions from legal maneuverings done at his Bain Financial company that cost some smaller businesses their profits and cost thousands of employees their jobs. He is the poster boy of the top 1% of the richest people in America and he gladly carries that banner. In a world where greed takes the place of common sense and decency, a world where the rich are making more money now than anytime in our recent history – while the bottom 99% are asked to pay more of what they don’t have – this is not the time to put a poster boy for the top 1% in the White House.

With that said, what if Americans continue in their slumber and buy into the Romney sales pitch, you know… that he’s one of us, that he’s looking out for our best interests, that he wants the middle class to prosper, that he’s from the streets? What if on election day, the bottom 99% elects the poster boy of the top 1% to the highest office in the land. What can we expect?

Well based on Romney’s own words – and as we’ve seen, his words really don’t mean that much because of his amazing flip-flopping abilities – Romney’s economic plan will lower taxes even more for his rich buddies. His plan would raise taxes on the 99% even more, and we, the 99%, will be asked to carry more of this economy on our backs while President Romney and his rich buddies continue raking in the dough.

Romney has also said on many occasions that he will “repeal ObamaCare,” the health care plan President Obama put in place. A plan that is already providing insurance coverage to millions more young people and ends the ability of insurance companies to drop your coverage if you were sick in the past. While he was governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney implemented the very same health care plan for the citizens of his state. But now that he is running for president, Mitt Romney is promising repeal of a health care plan that mimics his own, simply to get the votes of his far right Teaparty base.

And there is also Romney’s promise to end regulations on businesses so that they will be free to do whatever is in their best interest to survive. Even if it means taking away common sense requirements put in place to support the employees and the general public as a whole. And apparently agencies like the EPA and the Education Department will no longer exist. So companies would be free to dump all kinds of pollutants into the atmosphere or into our waters, if it meant their profit margins would increase.

Like Romney said at a campaign stop recently, “corporations are people my friends,” thus, if elected, a Romney presidency would make sure that Corporations/people continue to live and prosper, even if we the people – the people the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights were meant to protect – suffer in the process.

Are you a member of the 1%? Then you would be happy… no ecstatic with a Romney presidency. But for the rest of us, we must wake up and realise that what Bush started with his unpaid wars – a move that put billions into the pockets of Dick Cheney, Halliburton and other war mongering companies – and his trillion dollar tax cuts for millionaires among many other dumb policies, will only magnify and multiply if Mitt Willard Romney gets the #1 spot in the white house.

Mitt Romney Baptised and Converted a Dead Man To Mormonism

Apparently, baptizing and converting someone to Mormonism after they’re dead is a sure way to get that person into Heaven. And according to reports, that was exactly what Mitt Romney and his family did to his wife’s father, fourteen months after he died.

Mitt Romney’s militantly atheist father-in-law, was indeed posthumously converted to Mormonism by his family, despite the fact that when he was alive he regarded all religions as “hogwash.”

As we mentioned yesterday, Ann Romney’s Welsh-born father (who Mitt mentioned in last night’s debate to shore up his pro-immigrant bona fides) was an engineer, inventor, and resolute atheist who disdained all organized religion and raised his children accordingly. Davies, his son Roderick told the Boston Globe in 2007, regarded the faithful as “weak in the knees.” But when Mitt began seeing Davies’ daughter Ann, the Romney family launched a concerted effort to convert not only Ann but her entire family to Mormonism. And they were wildly successful: Within a year of meeting Ann, Mitt and his father had converted all three of Edward Davies’ children. Days before she died in 1993, Ann Romney’s mother asked to be converted as well. Edward Davies was the only member of his clan whose soul the Romneys never claimed for their church.

Until he died. According to this entry in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints’ genealogical database, Davies was baptized as a Mormon at a “special family meeting” 14 months after his death: “All ordinances except sealing to spouse performed in Salt Lake Temple on 19 Nov 1993 in special family meeting,” the entry says. (When we previously asked the church whether Davies had been baptized, a spokesperson told us that the information was available only to his family and church members. But it’s apparently right there on the internet for those who know what to look for.)

And now ladies and gentlemen, thanks to Mitt Romney and the Mormon beliefs, Mr. Edward Davies, a man who lived his life as an atheist, is now luxuriating as a Mormen in Heaven.

President Obama Talks About His Republican Challengers

In an interview with Univision, President Obama spoke briefly in response to the question of who he would rather go up against in the 2012 general election.

“I don’t really think about that,” Obama said in response to a question about who would be more of a threat in an interview with Univision conducted Wednesday night in Chandler, Ariz., and released Thursday morning. “What I can say is this: That whoever their nominee is, they represent ideas that I think are wrong for America.”

“On a whole range of issues I think that whether it’s Mr. Romney or Mr. Gingrich or Mr. Santorum or whoever else they might decide to select, they represent a fundamentally different vision of America. And it’s not the bold generous forward looking optimistic America that I think built this country,” he added.

The interview was Obama’s first since delivering his State of the Union address on Tuesday night, and comes as the Republican presidential candidates are stepping up their appeals to Hispanic voters ahead of next week’s Florida primary. Speaking to one of the top U.S. Spanish-language news outlets, Obama offered his own appeals, noting his efforts to make immigration laws more favorable to immigrants even without the comprehensive reform he’s repeatedly called for.

Mitt Romney – “[I’m Worth] Between 150 and 200 some-odd million”

At an event sponsored by Univision, Mitt Romney was put on the spot and had to put a figure on his worth. Mr. Romney, a man who thinks his ticket to the White House in 2012 depends on how many voters he can fool into thinking he is “one of us,” tried to downplay his net worth for the Latino audience.

Jorge Ramos, who interviewed Mr. Romney, pressed him on his wealth and on his taxes, and asked him directly how much money he had.

“Between 150 and 200 some-odd million,” Mr. Romney said, looking a bit uncomfortable and referring Mr. Ramos to the financial disclosure reports that his campaign has filed.

Mr. Ramos noted that Mr. Romney’s father was born in Mexico and asked whether Mr. Romney could claim to be Mexican-American.

“I don’t think people would think I’m being honest if I said I was Mexican-American,” Mr. Romney said, laughing. But he added: “I would appreciate it if you could get that word out.”

Fidel Castro on G.O.P Presidential Race – The Greatest Competition of Idiocy And Ignorance

Cuba’s ex-president Fidel Castro, made an observation that I think is worth a mention in this post. Castro called the Republican presidential race “the greatest competition of idiocy and ignorance that has ever been.” I must say, I agree with that observation.

Politico reports;

Castro made his comments in his latest column of “reflections” on a Cuban government website, attacking the Republican candidates two days after their debate in Florida.

“The selection of a Republican candidate for the presidency of this globalized and expansive empire is – and I mean this seriously – the greatest competition of idiocy and ignorance that has ever been,” he wrote, according to The Associated Press.

During the debate, Mitt Romney responded to a question of how he would react to a 3 a.m. announcement of Castro’s death by referencing the Jan. 19 death of Cuban prisoner Wilman Villar.

“We just had, with Wilman Villar, his life was just lost in a hunger strike fighting for democracy,” Romney said.

Castro wrote that Villar was a common criminal and not a political dissident, the AP reported.

The Gingrich That Stole South Carolina Is Now Leading In Florida

Mitt Romney has to be questioning himself and his position in this Republican party, as new polls show a sudden love for the once disgraced and despised Newt Gingrich.

Gingrich, a man with a political record comparable to that of the common criminal (really… the average person would be sitting in jail if they did the same things Gingrich did), won the Republican vote in South Carolina, and now has the lead in Florida.

The InsiderAdvantage poll of of 557 registered Republican voters is one of the first polls taken in Florida in the aftermath of Gingrich’s double-digit win in the South Carolina primary Saturday.

The poll results follow:

Gingrich: 34%

Romney: 26%

Paul: 13%

Santorum: 11%

Other: 2%

No opinion: 14%

The InsiderAdvantage poll was the first major poll last week to show the significant surge for Gingrich in South Carolina.
