Romney Criticizes Obama’s Harvard Connections, Although His are More Extensive

Mitt Romney again bashed President Obama for his connections to Harvard on Thursday, despite holding multiple degrees from the university himself and relying heavily on Harvard advisers as part of his presidential campaign.

Speaking in Harrisburg, Pa., Romney told an audience that Obama may have spent “too much time at Harvard,” according to NBC. Obama, who has a law degree from Harvard, spent three years there. Romney, who earned both a Harvard law degree and business degree, spent four years at the university and was by all accounts a motivated student who was happy with the institution during his time there.

Despite frequently mocking Obama for taking advice from the “Harvard faculty lounge” and spending too much time at the university, Romney has shown little indication that he regrets his own experience.

Three of his sons attended Harvard and he has donated over $50,000 to the university. His campaign lists over a dozen advisers with Harvard ties, including Harvard economics professor Greg Mankiw and international affairs professor Meghan O’Sullivan.

This is Too Easy – President Obama Points Out The Romney Lies – Ad

Now that the President is officially in campaign mode with Mitt Romney being the obvious choice for the Republican nomination, the Obama presidential campaign put out this simple ad focusing on some of the things Romney have said during the campaign, and then showing where Romney is blatantly lying to the American people.

Like taking candy from a kid… not that we take candy from kids… well, your kids shouldn’t be dining on candies anyway… unless they’re Sarah Palin’s…

Ed Gillespie – Romney’s Campaign Advisor – Lobbied For The Individual Mandate

Ed Gillespie – Mitt Romney’s new campaign adviser – was a lobbyist for a federal individual health insurance mandate two years before President Obama embraced the idea, the Washington Examiner reports.

Gillespie wasn’t just one of CAHR’s lobbyists, he was their Republican headliner, touted in their press releases.

So while Romney can make a federalist distinction about himself — that he supports some state health-insurance mandates, but not federal health-insurance mandates — Romney advisor Gillespie (who did not immediately return my call or email seeking comment) seems stuck admitting he was a for a federal-level mandate when insurers were paying him to be for it, and is against it now that Obama is defending it.

President Obama – Republicans Plan for America is “Social Darwinism”

WASHINGTON (AP) — In combative campaign form, President Barack Obama accused Republican leaders on Tuesday of becoming so radical and dangerously rigid that even the late Ronald Reagan, one of their most cherished heroes, could not win a GOP primary if he were running today.

Obama, in a stinging speech to an audience of news executives, had unsparing words for Republicans on Capitol Hill as well as the man he is most likely to face off against in November, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. The president depicted the election as a choice between a Democratic candidate who wants to use government to help people succeed and Republicans who would abandon a basic compact with society and let most people struggle at the expense of the rich.

He framed his address around a new House Republican budget plan, saying it represents a bleak, backward “radical vision.”

“It is thinly veiled social Darwinism,” Obama said to the annual meeting of The Associated Press. “It is antithetical to our entire history as a land of opportunity and upward mobility for everybody who’s willing to work for it … It is a prescription for decline.”

Republicans shot back that the president had offered a deeply partisan speech devoid of accountability.

What Do Wisconsin, Maryland and DC Have in Common?

They are examples of places where Mitt Romney will win primaries, but will lose to President Obama in the fall.

For people who follow politics, there’s a certain heaviness to the Republican race for delegates. Most prominent Republicans, including such conservatives as Marco Rubio, have endorsed Romney, and the trading markets are assuming that he’ll win the nomination. Is this news? No. But we have to write something every few hours, so why not make it interesting?

Even Mitt has turned his attention to Obama and is basically ignoring Santorum. Newt’s so far out of it that the press isn’t even making a big deal out of the fact that he hasn’t made a formal announcement. It’s very tidy. Just like the GOP wanted it in the first place.

But once again, some of the biggest states will have little influence on the contest. The story might have been different if California, New York, Texas, New Jersey and Pennsylvania had voted much earlier in the process. As it is, they’re afterthoughts. Too bad for the runners-up.

After tomorrow, all eyes will be on the two man race most of us envisioned months ago. Mitt will try to reinvent himself into a likeable everyman and President Obama will continue the Passion Offensive he launched last September. Their success will largely determine which one of them wins in November.

Mitt Romney’s Health Care Mandate Included “$50 Abortions” – Ad

Rick Santorum’s new ad against Mitt Romney is a doosey!

The ad begins with a picture of President Obama and a female narrator asking viewers if they would vote for someone whose health care included “$50 abortions and killed thousands of jobs.”

She then asks if voters will vote for someone who supported “radical” cap-and-trade legislation, the Wall Street bailout or higher taxes.

At the end of the video, the woman reveals that the person she was talking about was not President Obama, but Mitt Romney.

Yes, this video is a doosey alright!

Americans Losing Jobs is a “Humorous” Story for Mitt Romney

In yet another weak effort to try and connect to the voters, Mitt Romney yesterday told an audience in Wisconsin of a “humorous” story involving his father as he ran for political office. According to Romney, his father shut down a plant in Michigan – ha ha ha. People lost their jobs – lol stop, you’re cracking me up.

Let’s all sit back and enjoy the humor as told by Mittens.

“One of the most humorous I think relates to my father,” Romney said on a conference call with Wisconsin supporters on Wednesday. “You may remember my father, George Romney, was president of an automobile company called American Motors. … They had a factory in Michigan, and they had a factory in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and another one in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

“And as the president of the company he decided to close the factory in Michigan and move all the production to Wisconsin. Now later he decided to run for governor of Michigan, and so you can imagine that having closed the factory and moved all the production to Wisconsin was a very sensitive issue to him, for his campaign.

Romney then said his dad later marched in a parade with a school marching band that only knew the University of Wisconsin fight song, not the University of Michigan’s.

“So every time they would start playing ‘On Wisconsin, On Wisconsin,’ my dad’s political people would jump up and down and try to get them to stop, because they didn’t want people in Michigan to be reminded that my dad had moved production to Wisconsin,” said Romney, laughing.

Way to connect with the average American worker Mittens. Now we know why it was so easy for you to recommend a Detroit bankruptcy as your economic solution to the troubled auto industry.

Poll finds Worst Unfavorable Ratings for Romney Since 1984

A new ABC/Washington Post poll shows that “50 percent of all surveyed and 52 percent of registered voters held unfavorable opinions of Romney. Thirty-four percent hold positive views on Romney, the lowest for any leading presidential contender in Post/ABC polls dating back to 1984.

“The poll also finds that Romney’s unfavorability tops Obama’s highest unfavorability rating in the poll’s history.

“Adding to Romney’s challenge in a potential general-election fight, by comparison, Obama holds a 53 percent favorability rating and a 43 percent unfavorable mark, according to the survey.”

Mitt Romney Makes Excellent Pitch For the Individual Mandate

Appearing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Mitt Romney unknowingly defended the individual mandate, currently before the United States Supreme Court. Jay Leno asked the Republican front-runner how he would provide healthcare for those Americans with a pre-existing condition.

“People with pre-existing conditions, as long as they have been insured before, they are going to be able to continue to have insurance,” Romney said, describing his vision for health care if the Affordable Care Act were to be struck down or repealed.

“Suppose they haven’t been insured,” Leno countered.

“If they are 45 years old and they show up and say I want insurance because I have heart disease, it’s like, ‘Hey guys. We can’t play the game like that. You’ve got to get insurance when you are well and then if you get ill, you are going to be covered,’” Romney responded.

The individual mandate mentioned in the president’s healthcare plan requires that all American purchase healthcare coverage when they’re well. Doing so, the Administration argues, will be the only way to guarantee that Americans with pre-existing conditions are not dropped by their insurance providers.

Although Mitt Romney signed the same bill into law as governor of Massachusetts, he is joined by other Republicans as they mount a valiant effort to get President Obama’s Healthcare reform overturned by the Supreme Court or repealed altogether. They’ve classified the mandate that everyone purchase healthcare when they’re well as unconstitutional.
