Joe Scarborough – “Mitt Romney Sounds Like a Plutocrat!” – Government By The Rich, For The Rich

I’m not a big fan of Morning Joe on MSNBC. Host Joe Scarborough usually get to me and I still cannot figure out what Mika’s role on the show is. But sometimes, Joe would say something worth repeating and on Tuesday morning, the news worthy part of Joe’s broadcast featured his cast discussing Romney’s recent blunder, where he was caught on video dissing 47% of America.

Joe started the discussion pointing out how comfortable Mitt Romney when he said that poorer Americans are basically lazy and dependent on the government. “What was that?” Joe asked.

“That’s the case the Obama campaign made last night. This was a man saying what he believes. This is a window into the real Mitt Romney,” was one answer.

A second guest added, “… unfortunately he says this thing, this one sentence, ‘I’ll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.’ That’s pretty much every senior citizen in America. Pretty much every senior citizen in America who is on Medicare and Social Security doesn’t pay any income tax. That’s the one voting group Mitt Romney had a clear advantage over the President with. It’s so contentious, it’s so condescending.”

Joe then made a comparison with George Bush who, according to Joe, tried to get voters from the minority group. Joe finished up with the conclusion that Mitt Romney sounds like a “plutocrat.” (According to the Dictionary, a plutocrat is someone who believes that Government is for the wealthy, that the wealthy should be the ones controlling the government.) He later added that this week is the worst he’s seen for the Romney campaign.

WOW! Video below.

Mitt Romney Degraded Half Of America At Fundraiser Hosted By Sex-Party Organizer

By now you’ve all heard the one about Mitt Romney and his disgust for half the American people. He is so disgusted with this group, that he has already wrote them off as Obama voters, fully dependent on the government and too lazy to take care of themselves. Of course I’m just paraphrasing what Romney said at his private fundraiser. His exact words however, does not take away from the interpretation given above.

Here’s what Romney said;

There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax.

My job is is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”

As unbelievable a statement as that is, there’s more. Word on the street is that Romney’s infamous statement about 47% of Americans was made at a fundraiser… hosted at the estate… of a Sex Party-throwing Hedge Fund Manager.

David Corn just said on TV that the now infamous Romney fundraiser was held in Boca Raton, Florida at the estate of hedge fund manager Marc Leder.

According to the New York Post, Leder throws a pretty mean party.

His “wild end-of-summer bash was the talk of the Hamptons this year,” the Post reported last December. “At the Bridgehampton home that Leder rented for a whopping $500,000 a month, guests cavorted nude in a pool and performed sex acts, while scantily clad Russian women danced on platforms. Dancers at the party also twirled flaming torches to booming beats.”

Come to think about it, we never really saw what was going on from the waist down while Romney was making his speech.

Mitt Romney – Obama Voters Believe In Entitlements And Are Not Responsible

Mother Jones posted a very damaging video today showing Mitt Romney talking to a small group of big-time donors. Romney, in the presence of these rich folks chose to talk about poorer Americans, and he expressed his feelings about these unfortunate citizens.

Romney said that these poor Americans are people who believes in an “entitlement” society. He said that they look at themselves as “victims,” and concluded that his job is not to “worry about those people,” because he can never “convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”

These voters Romney claimed, are Obama voters.

[M]y job is is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”

It’s Raining Polls

The Democratic Nation Convention is a dot in the campaign’s rear-view mirror, but the shift in public sentiment it engendered is now embedded in the polling numbers. And that’s not good news for Mitt Romney.

The one bright spot for Mitt’s campaign is in North Carolina, where a Rasmussen poll has him leading by 51-45%. This is a firm enough pick-up for the GOP that the Obama campaign will probably not contest the state too vigorously because there are other states that need their attention.

Most of the other state polling over the last week shows the president with small leads in some of the swing states and solid leads where he needs to have them, most notably in Pennsylvania and Michigan, where the conservative groups supporting Romney have pulled their advertising, and New Jersey where, despite Chris Christie’s best efforts, Romney is behind by double digits. Those states, though, were always considered nice switches if the election was going to swing hard against Obama and Romney was going to win in landslide, a scenario not out of the question last spring when the economy and momentum were on Mitt’s side. After a summer in which Obama ran a textbook incumbent’s campaign (define your opponent negatively, change the topic from the economy, force Mitt further to the right), the big Republican win seems to be fading. Romney can certainly pull this election out, but he’ll need to go a different route than the 44 state rout he was thinking about.

In the states where the election will turn, the latest polls show a virtual dead heat. Obama leads by one point in a Rasmussen Virginia poll and by one in Colorado according to a Denver Post/SUSA survey. In Florida, and NBC/WSJ/Marist poll has Obama leading by 49-44%, but the poll overstates Democratic participation so the actual results are probably closer than five points. Both Rasmussen and ARG show one point leads for Obama in Ohio and UNH/WMUR sees Obama with a five point lead in New Hampshire. If Romney can carry Ohio, Florida and Colorado, he’d be within two Electoral Votes of the presidency and could win with any one of New Hampshire or Virginia. This is a tall order, but this is where both he and Obama will be spending the most money and time over the next seven weeks.

The main focus for the next few days, though, will be on Wisconsin, a state that hasn’t been polled since the DNC. With native son Paul Ryan on the national ticket, a poll-leading Republican, Tommy Thompson, atop the Senate ballot and a Republican governor at the helm, Wisconsin has been trending red for the past two years. The Romney campaign is putting a good deal of money into the state and a win there would be a huge pickup. In fact, a Romney win in Wisconsin could mean that Ohio follows suit. That would obviate the need for Mitt to win Colorado. It’s big. Perhaps we’ll get some numbers this week.

The national polls show an Obama bounce that has faded somewhat, though the Rasmussen tracking poll had Romney ahead by four early in the week and now shows his lead cut in half. Gallup has shown a pretty consistent Obama lead throughout the last 10 days. National polls by the New York Times, ABCNews and NBC/WSJ show an Obama lead, but they all overpolled Democrats in their surveys. I at least will need some further confirmation from more realistic internals to make a judgement about the national race. We know it’s close, but we don’t know just how close it is.

With foreign policy grabbing the headlines this week, the Romney campaign hopes to undermine the president’s policies while continuing to attack him on the slow economy. That Mitt’s comments on the Middle East unrest were seen as political opportunism will not help him, but if further events lead to more instability, he could correct himself and gain the high ground. Obama has probably built up enough of a lead in the foreign arena to survive, but more problems are clearly not what he wants. The president’s campaign has to figure that any day Romney is not talking about the economy, he’s losing ground. We’ll see what happens this week.

Joke Of The Year – Romney Calls Obama a Liar

Hold on to your chairs folks, we are not responsible for anyone falling over from laughter. Get this… In an interview that aired today, Mitt Romney, the most dishonest politician I’ve ever seen accused President Obama of lying.

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney says the upcoming debates will be tough because President Barack Obama has a tendency to “say things that aren’t true.”

“I think he’s going to say a lot of things that aren’t accurate,” Romney told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos in an interview that aired on Friday. “I’m tempted to go back to that wonderful line by Ronald Reagan — ‘There you go again’ — but you can’t use something that’s [already been used].”

“Bill Clinton used that about you the other day during the Democratic Convention,” Stephanopoulos noted.

“I didn’t happen to see that, but doubt we’re going to pull out something from Ronald Reagan, he’s one of a kind,” the former Massachusetts governor explained. “But the challenge I’ll have is that the president tends to, how shall I say it, say things that aren’t true in attacking his opponents.”

“I’ve looked at prior debates and in that kind of case, it’s difficult to say, well, am I going to spend my time correcting things that aren’t quite accurate or am I going spend my time talking about the things I want to talk about? And that’s the challenge.”

But President Obama may also have his hands full when it comes to fact checking the Republican nominee.

MSNBC’s Steve Benen spent months chronicling Romney’s “mendacity” and claimed to have found 533 falsehoods in 30 weeks, according to a tally by blogger Fred Clark.

President Obama – “Governor Romney Seems To Have a Tendency To Shoot First and Aim Later”

After a careful silence while his opponent faced allegations of politicizing national security, President Barack Obama took a his own swing at Mitt Romney on Wednesday

“There’s a broader lesson to be learned here: Governor Romney seems to have a tendency to shoot first and aim later,” Obama told CBS News of Romney’s claim that Obama was not forceful enough in his response to yesterday’s killing of four U.S. diplomats in Libya.

Romney’s statement, released last night before many of the facts from the attack in Benghazi were gathered, has drawn bipartisan criticism as lawmakers call for unity to respond to what is now being investigated as a terrorist attack.

Since an initial early morning statement from the campaign, Obama’s political operation had taken care not to be seen as capitalizing on the events for political gain — but once Romney tried just that, Obama took the gloves off.

“As president, one of the things I’ve learned is you can’t do that-it’s important for you to make sure that the statements that you make are backed up by the facts and that you’ve thought through the ramifications before you make them,” Obama continued.

Obama’s campaign spent much of the day silent on the issue, deferring to the White House to respond to a national security incident. Their silence had the added benefit of allowing Romney time to wallow in the mess of his own creation.

Both Democrats And Republicans Criticize Romney’s Latest Dumb Move

Pundits, politicos and Republican Party stalwarts alike have panned a mid-morning press conference by Republican presidential candidate former Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA). Romney’s campaign drew fire overnight for falsely attributing a quote by Egyptian embassy personnel under siege to the Obama administration, then attacking the presidency for “apologizing for our values,” thereby seizing upon the violence in Egypt and Libya to score political points against President Barack Obama.

Rather than use today’s press conference as an opportunity to clear the air and mourn the deaths of U.S. citizens who gave their lives in service to their country, however, the former governor doubled down on his attacks against the president, a maneuver that was criticized even on the right.

Former foreign policy adviser to Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX), Victoria Coates told BuzzFeed, “It’s deeply unfortunate when the circumstance of the statement becomes the story.”

Members of the press were struck by the move, as well. Time magazine’s Mark Halperin said on Twitter that Romney’s attacks were the most “craven + ill-advised move” of the 2012 campaign.

Wall Street Journal columnist and doyenne of DC politics Peggy Noonan opined to Fox News that the nominee isn’t “doing himself any favors” with his handling of the situation.

“When you step forward in the midst of a political environment and start giving statements on something dramatic and violent that has happened, you’re always leaving yourself open to accusations that you are trying to exploit things politically,” she said.

Some Ohio Republicans Think Mitt Romney Killed Osama Bin Laden

Have you heard this one? A new poll conducted by Public Polling Policy in Ohio finds that there are some people who think Mitt Romney was the one that killed Osama Bin Laden. Mitt Romney, the Republican who held no political office at the time Bin Laden was captured and killed, is being credited for getting the mastermind of the September 11th attacks.

When the average voter was asked who should get the credit for killing Osama, 63% said the President should, 6% said Romney and 31% had no clue.

The results were even more unbelievable when Republicans answered the question. 15% of Republicans credited Mitt Romney for getting Osama Bin Laden and 47% couldn’t decide. Only 38% of Ohio Republicans knew that President Obama made the final decision that led to Osama’s death, while 62% (15% said Romney and 47% didn’t know) got the answer wrong.

Makes you wonder where these people are getting their information… oh, never mind. They get their news from Fox News.

Pat Robertson’s Advise to Abused Husband – “Beat Your Wife!”

In his never-ending bid to pander to every conceivable group of voters, Mitt Romney aligned himself yesterday with Republican Pat Robertson, a Political on-air personality who also calls himself an Evangelist. And it was Pat Robertson who recently advised an abused husband to “become a Muslim and beat your wife.”

President Obama Outraises Mitt Romney in August

For the first time in five months, the millions of Americans supporting President Obama’s re-election beat out the handful of billionaires trying to buy or steal the presidency for Mitt Romney. CNN reports;

– President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign and supporting committees brought in more than $114 million last month – the first time the incumbent has outraised his opponent, Gov. Mitt Romney, since April.

Obama’s Campaign Manager Jim Messina announced the figure for August late Sunday night.

Romney’s campaign brought in $111 million last month.

But for three months in a row – June, July, August – Romney’s camp brought in more than $100 million, with $106 million in June and $101 million in July.

“No celebrating, because they’re going to have an even bigger September. But now we know we can match them, doing this our way,” tweeted the Obama campaign.

August’s fundraising statistics mark a drastic improvement for the Obama campaign.

Etch-A-Sketch Moment – Romney Now Says He Will Not Repeal All Of ObamaCare

Mitt Romney ran his entire campaign on two things: 1. Lies and 2. The promise to “repeal ObamaCare” in its entirety. But Sunday on Meet The Press, Romney pulled out an etch-a-sketch and claimed a completely new position on what he will do as president on Barack Obama’s signature domestic policy.

Asked about his plans for healthcare, Romney answered;

“I’m not getting rid of all of health care reform. Of course there are a number of things that I like in health care reform that I’m going to put in place,” he said on NBC’s “Meet The Press. “One is to make sure that those with pre-existing conditions can get coverage. Two is to assure that the marketplace allows for individuals to have policies that cover their family up to whatever age they might like.”

What’s amazing about this particular flip-flop is the fact that his Republican/Teaparty base is extremely passionate about getting rid of healthcare. Repealing Obamacare was their rallying cry in the Republican primaries and their hate for the bill was the foundation of the Teaparty movement in 2009 when Town-hall meetings erupted in violence.  Anyone expecting to get the vote of these Republicans had to promise that getting rid of ObamaCare would be their number one priority, and that promise allowed Republicans to take over the House of Representatives in 2010. Romney too made that promise and now he’s changing positions… again.

What would the Teaparty/Republican say now that their chosen one is abandoning their trust? Would they disown their candidate for breaking his promise or would they disown their calls for repeal and fall in line with their flip-flopping leader?

Only time will t…. wait a minute! There is another change in Romney’s position on healthcare. It seems that Romney will repeal healthcare after-all. Just moments after Romney made his new position known on Meet The Press, his campaign put out a statement essentially saying that Romney did not know what he was talking about on the show. The campaign now claims that Romney will indeed repeal all of ObamaCare.

Here’s the part report:

In reference to how Romney would deal with those with preexisting conditions and young adults who want to remain on their parents’ plans, a Romney aide responded that there had been no change in Romney’s position and that “in a competitive environment, the marketplace will make available plans that include coverage for what there is demand for. He was not proposing a federal mandate to require insurance plans to offer those particular features.”

We’ll call this one a flip-flop flop. Carry on folks, this is just another day in the life of the Romney campaign.
