‘Love & Hip Hop Atlanta’ Star Benzino Shot At Mother’s Funeral

“Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” star Ray Benzino is allegedly in critical condition after being shot at his mother’s funeral, according to various local reports.

There was reportedly a fight between family members and Benzino was shot three times by his nephew as he was leaving the funeral service in Duxbury, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston.

One Twitter user posted the following picture of a hearse with police tape around it:
Benzino has been expressing his grief at his mother’s passing for the last week on social media, receiving support from his friends and castmates, including Stevie J.

Last week, the rapper and founder posted the following picture to Instagram with the caption:

“God knows I have been through alot in my life, BUT EVERY INCH OF GOOD, KINDNESS AND LOVE IN MY SOUL IS BECAUSE OF THIS WOMAN, A BIG PART OF ME IS LOST NOW AND I WILL NEVER BE THE SAME, MA WORDS CANT EXPRESS MY LOVE FOR YOU.I WILL MISS EVERY BREATHING MOMENT, I DONT KMOW HOW I WILL CONTINUE KNOWING YOU ARE NOT HERE. Im lost.”

State Police arrested a male suspect this afternoon after a 48-year-old man was shot during a funeral procession in Duxbury on Route 3 southbound near Exit 11, according to authorities.

The shooting occurred at 11:55 a.m., and the victim was taken to South Shore Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to a statement from Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz.

State Police said the initial report stated the shooting occurred after an argument between family members, but investigators are now working to determine what sparked the violence. In his statement, Cruz said that a person driving a Bentley shot the driver of a red Dodge SUV, who got out of his car and was taken to the Duxbury Police Department by a passerby, before being taken to the hospital.

The driver of the Bentley was arrested and charged with armed assault with intent to murder, according to Cruz. He will be arraigned Monday in Plymouth District Court. His name was not released.

Father William Williams of St. Peter’s Church in Plymouth, where the funeral procession was headed from Quincy, said that the family arrived at the church late but that the funeral was held.

When he looked out of the church to see the funeral procession arrive, he said, he saw blood smudges on the limousine and the hearse. The family was upset, he said, but did not speak about the shooting.

The highway was closed after the shooting and there are no further details at this time.

Benzino is co-founder and former co-owner of premiere Hip Hop magazine The Source. He stepped down from his position as chief brand manager in 2005.

#IsThisYoThot: 2 Chainz And Entourage Clown Groupie On Camera For Sneaking Backstage

We frequently hear about the interesting things that go on backstage at rap concerts, but rarely do we ever actually get to see what really goes down. Well, until now that is. Rapper 2 Chainz and his team captured a young woman’s thirsty attempt to meet a member of his entourage named Cap 1. And well, it’s quite embarrassing.

It’s not really clear how the woman, who identified herself as Tina, made it backstage, but she was pretty hell-bent on seeing Cap 1, who she says she met on Instagram.

“You ain’t gonna catch nothing out here but a cold, baby. Put something on your back, baby,” 2 yells out to Tina before the entourage bursts into laughter.

2 and the camera man continue with their shenanigans before finally allowing Tina to meet Cap. Cap, however, doesn’t appear to be the least bit interested.

“Nah, I’m straight,” he says, barely looking at Tina.

So of course, the horseplay continues.

“I think you should go that way,” 2 tells Tina before pointing towards the door. “Because while you’re back here, you’re in blog territory.”

Apparently still confused and failing to realize that she’s the butt of their jokes, Tina says:

“Oh sh*t, this is going on a blog for real? Do I look good?”

After letting the guys have their fun for a little longer, another man encourages the girl to just leave.

“Go on and walk out the door baby. Baby, listen to me, just walk out the door.”

Tina left without putting up a fight, but she now says that she has plans to sue the “I’m Different” rapper.

“For the record I’m not a thot, I reset my account because I had family on it. Tauheed Epps aka 2 chainz you will definitely be hearing from my lawyer,” Tina reportedly wrote in an Instagram post.

“Extra extra. See you in court soon #lankylizard @hairweavekiller,” she later followed up. “I feel like @hairweavekiller should feel as much embarrassment as I have endured these last couple of days for what he has done to my life, he has not apologized publicly and tries to contact me privately. Everyone re post this at @breakfastclubam @cthagod @angelayee @djenvy because 2 chainz should be the #donkyoftheday let’s get me on the breakfast club so I have a chance to tell my side of the story!”

Kobe Bryant’s Insensitive Remarks on Trayvon Martin Tribute Sparks Online Outrage

Kobe Bryant

Sometimes, some people just don’t get it, and in this case, Kobe is one of those people.

Kobe Bryant was recently asked by The New Yorker magazine to weigh in on a widely publicized Miami Heat photo where the team posed in hoodies to show their support for the late Trayvon Martin and his family.

Bryant’s comments have been interpreted by some as an insult to the reigning NBA champions.

“I won’t react to something just because I’m supposed to, because I’m an African-American. That argument doesn’t make any sense to me. So we want to advance as a society and a culture, but, say, if something happens to an African-American we immediately come to his defense? Yet you want to talk about how far we’ve progressed as a society? Well, we’ve progressed as a society, then don’t jump to somebody’s defense just because they’re African-American. You sit and you listen to the facts just like you would in any other situation, right? So I won’t assert myself.”

Bryant was quickly pounced on by commentators on social media.

“Kobe could’ve just shouted out love for Trayvon’s parents, said he couldn’t imagine their loss and kept it breezy. He didn’t,” tweeted Grio columnist Goldie Taylor.

“My issue is that Kobe reduces the Trayvon Martin outrage to blind racial solidarity, when it was about so much more than that,” added ESPN commentator Jemele Hill.

Bryant has yet to respond to the backlash towards his remarks.

Columbus Short, a lead actor on the television series “Scandal,” was arrested Wednesday on a felony charge that he seriously injured a man during an altercation at a restaurant earlier this month.

Short, 31, plays attorney Harrison Wright on ABC’s hit series “Scandal.” Records show he was released Wednesday after posting $50,000 bail.

Flavor Flav’s Speeding Trial Postponed

Back in January, Flava was hit with a speeding ticket in Long Island as he tried to be on time for his mother’s funeral. But plane tickets are expensive and with the Flavor living in LA, flying back and forth for this case is apparently putting a dent in his wallet.

Police say the rapper and reality star was speeding and driving without a license, a felony, on Jan. 9 on the Meadowbrook Parkway on Long Island. His attorney, Indji Bessim, says the case has been postponed to May 16, reports the AP.

Flav, whose real name is William Drayton, told reporters as he entered a Nassau County courtroom Tuesday that he hoped to resolve the case.

The rapper, who lives in Las Vegas, complained that flights from there to New York were becoming expensive.
At least he will save some money with his felony assault case, which takes place in Vegas. Flav faces that charge and others after allegedly threatening his longtime girlfriend’s teenage son.

“Scandal” star Columbus Short levels man during a bloody bar fight

“Scandal” actor Columbus Short and his wife, Tanee McCall-Short are making headlines again, but this time it’s not for their withdrawn divorce petition.

According to TMZ, the 31-year-old actor was involved in a bar fight that left his opponent hospitalized with a broken nose. The way the story is being told, Short and his alleged victim were at an engagement party at Gabe’s Bar and Grill in Los Angeles when he found himself in a confrontation with another partygoer.

“You might be richer than me but I get my girls to buy me everything I want including your wife,” the other guy reportedly told Short.

An eyewitness claims the comment set Short off and prompted him to sucker punch the man. The witness adds that the blow was so impactful that it rendered the man unconscious for several minutes and left him with a broken nose. Following the alleged assault, Short reportedly left the bar. An ambulance later came and transported the 37-year-old alleged victim to a nearby hospital.

According to reports, the “Cadillac Records” actor is now being investigated for criminal battery. This wouldn’t be the first time Short’s temper has landed him on the wrong side of the law. He was also involved in a March 2010 scuffle at a Los Angeles gym that left his victim with a bloody mouth and missing teeth. Apparently March isn’t  great time of year for him.

We’ll continue to keep you posted as this story develops.

Judge Joe Brown Thrown in Jail

We are told Brown showed up to Juvenile Court Monday and agreed to represent someone pro bono in a child support case.

Juvenile Court Magistrate Harold Horne denied Brown’s request for the case to be dismissed.

Brown then reportedly lost control and became verbally abusive saying in part, “On what authority do you sit by the way? As a former judge here, we have a rule in the 30th judicial district that says every single magistrate, referee has to be unanimously approved by every circuit, chancery, and criminal court judge. I don’t recall that your name’s ever been submitted sir!”

Horne warned Brown to calm down, but he did not.

Brown was given 24 hours in jail for contempt of court, but that increased to five days when he continued to yell as he was being removed from the courtroom saying, “This is a circus sir. That’s three days. You can do all you want! Four days. You don’t have the jurisdiction. Five days.”

Brown’s television show was cancelled last year and he is now running for Shelby County District Attorney against Amy Weirich.

Update The judge was released after a few hours on his own recognizance.

Nick Cannon is getting some serious flack from Internet users after he tried to pull off a stunt in promoting his new album, “White People Party Music.”

“It’s official… I’m White!!! #WHITEPEOPLEPARTYMUSIC #Wppm in stores April 1st!!!!!!Dude Go Get It!!!Join The Party!!!!” he wrote alongside the image.

Wyclef Jean is Broke – “there ain’t no money”

Wyclef Jean’s former lawyers have filed a six-figure legal judgment against the musician after he failed to make agreed-upon payments to reduce his debt, according to court filings that include a recent e-mail from Jean’s business manager claiming that his client was broke.

“there ain’t no money,” Jean’s accountant declared in a terse January e-mail to his creditors.

Other records show that federal and state authorities have, since mid-2012, hit the performer with nearly $2.9 million in tax liens (which remain outstanding).

According to New York State Supreme Court filings, Jean last year agreed to pay the law firm Shukat Arrow Hafer Weber & Herbsman $100,000 to settle an outstanding bill topping $133,000.

As part of a confidential settlement agreement, Jean was required to pay the firm $10,000 by August 1, 2013, and $50,000 by year’s end. The agreement stipulated that if Jean made those two payments, the firm would waive the remaining $40,000 it was owed by the musician. However, the agreement notes, if Jean failed to make the payments, he would be on the hook for the entire $100,000, plus 10 percent annual interest.

Jean, records show, made neither payment.
