In his weekly address, President Obama commemorated Independence Day by noting the contributions and sacrifices from individuals throughout the history of this country — from our Founding Fathers, to the men and women in our military serving at home and abroad.

Why all the hate? Why so much venom? What is it about this particular president that has Republicans so angry?
Throughout our history we have had both Democrats and Republicans in the White House, and these two groups have always, despite their differences, despite their hate for each other, they have found ways to come together to work on issues that will benefit the American people. So why is that so hard for these Republicans to work with this president?
What is it about Barack Obama that has Republicans turning their backs on policies they originally authored the moment Barack Obama adopted those policies?
What’s different?
It’s not because he’s a Democrat, like I said before, we have already had Democratic presidents in the White House. And it’s not because of his policies, in fact, much of the policies Obama has worked on and implemented, are policies that previous Democratic and to some extent, Republican presidents have tried. These policies are not new. Health care reform for example, was a top agenda item for both Democrat and Republican presidents for decades. And the basis of the law that Obama finally signed into law, was the brainchild of a Republican think tank.
So the difference clearly is not his party or his policies.
The only difference I can see between with this particular Democratic president and previous presidents, is the fact that he is a black man. Which would mean that the hate and the venom this president is facing is based on nothing else than the color of his skin, not the content of his character.
If he was a white Democratic president then the usual ideological bickering from the Republicans would happen. That’s what they have done historically. Democrats and Republicans will state that differences on issues, they will debate and even filibuster once in a while. But eventually, a consensus will be reached and… progress. Just like the Founding Fathers envisioned.
But he is not a white man. He is the first African American to hold the highest office in the land and some Republicans just cannot accept that fact.
And the Supreme Court said that racism was dead. How laughable is that?
In 2011, President Obama awarded Maya Angelou with America’s highest civilian honor – a Presidential Medal of Freedom.
A year later, Dr. Angelou praised the job President Obama had done to that point, while criticizing the block party that is the Republican party.
In an interview with The Guardian, she said, “I think he has done a remarkable job, knowing how much he has been opposed. Every suggestion he makes, the Republicans en mass fight against him or don’t vote at all.”
According to her family, Dr. Maya Angelou passed away at her home. She was 86 years old.
Play or seek to adjust the time offset.

I thought the Supreme Court said that racism was over. Maybe the memo hasn’t made its way to the Starlings of the world yet.
N.H. — Town officials confirmed Monday that the 82-year-old police commissioner who was heard publicly calling President Obama the n-word — sparking nationwide outrage — has tendered his resignation.
Robert Copeland, 82, the vice chairman of Wolfeboro’s three-member police commission, turned in his resignation to the head of the police commission late Sunday night, town officials confirmed.
His resignation comes as several of New Hampshire’s most prominent politicians — including Sens. Kelly Ayotte (R) and Jeanne Shaheen (D) and Gov. Maggie Hassan — had called for Copeland’s ouster.
“Commissioner Copeland’s reprehensible comments dishonor law enforcement officials across our state who work hard to ensure that all citizens are treated fairly, and the remarks do not represent the values of New Hampshire residents,” said William Hinkle, a spokesman for New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan. “Governor Hassan believes that he should listen to the people of Wolfeboro and New Hampshire and apologize and step down in order to restore confidence in the Commission.”
President Obama is at it again.
The man has given Americans affordable healthcare, stopped the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and on his watch the stock market has hit record highs on multiple locations. And he also had the nerve to implement policies that brought our on employment rate down from almost 10 percent when he took office to 6.3 percent now.
What is this guy’s problem? It’s like he’s trying to make America a better place for Americans. How dare he!
And now this!
New reports out today are highlighting to the fact that under this president, we ran a surplus for the month of April. A $114 billion surplus!
For the first seven months of this fiscal year, which began on Oct. 1, the CBO estimates the country has racked up a $301 billion deficit, which is $187 billion lower than it was for the same period last year.
Federal coffers saw a 7% increase in individual income taxes and payroll taxes, a 15% increase in corporate income taxes, and a 37% increase in money paid to Treasury by the Federal Reserve.
Meanwhile, overall spending fell by 2%.
Making America a better place for Americans? The Republicans must be livid!
I think the Democratic Congressman is just calling it as he sees it. They claim that they’re against “big spending government,” but where was the Teaparty when Bush spent us into oblivion?
In an interview with NY1, Rangel said “it’s hard for me to explain how you work with a president that thought that he could really deal with the Republican leadership,” Rangel said. “Maybe it was the water that they drink at Harvard,” he continued, referring to Obama’s time at Harvard Law School.
While Rangel was disappointed with the president, his ire was at its most intense when discussing the Tea Party. If Rangel had to describe the right-wing movement in a word, it would appear he’d have a hard time choosing between “racist” and “mean.”
“They are mean, racist people,” Rangel said of the Tea Party. “Now why do I say that? Because in those red states, they’re the same slave-holding states.”
“They had the Confederate flag,” he continued. “They became Dixiecrats; they had the Confederate flag. They’re now the Tea Party; they still got the Confederate [flag].”
“I don’t think that’s a coincidence,” Rangel added. “There is nothing the president can do – not love of country, not love of party – that they’re not prepared to kill themselves to get to him.”
As Politicker.com notes, this isn’t the first time Rangel has attacked the Tea Party and described the movement as racist in nature. During the Summer of 2013, Rangel said Tea Partyers were “the same group we faced in the South with those white crackers and the dogs and the police.”
They’re celebrating their fifth year in existence, so what better way to observe their lack of accomplishments, than by watching and hearing Bill Maher express his views on the Teaparty?
Bill Maher celebrated the Tea Party’s fifth birthday by pointing out what the Tea Party is all about: a black guy sitting in Ronald Reagan’s chair–causing Bill Kristol to flip out.
Despite that the Tea Party is purportedly the party of “fiscal responsibility,” as Maher points out, they really seem to exist just to hate the black President.
Bill Kristol scoffed at Maher’s charges of “racism,” saying “That is total bullshit! Even you don’t believe that. You’re just saying that.”
Maher responded that he “totally” believes that. “A month after he took office, suddenly white people were very concerned about debt, even though Bush had raised the debt way more than Obama had. I don’t remember a Tea Party then,” Maher pointed out.
Since the Tea Party seems to mention Obamacare and Benghazi more than anything, Maher added that they don’t actually care about debt all that much. “If you look at their websites, he said they are mostly talking about Benghazi, impeaching Obama and Obamacare. I wonder if they ever really cared about the debt that much,” Maher said.
It was a memorial service for one of the most important man on the face of the earth. But if you listened to the American media earlier this week, the story was not about Mandela or his amazing accomplishments in ending Apartheid, or becoming South Africa’s first black president, or his underlining amazing quality of forgiveness. No. If you listened to the American media covering the Nelson Mandela memorial, all you heard was about a handshake between President Obama and Cuba’s Raúl Castro.
Or, and a selfie the President took.
This fact did not escape the watchful eyes of one of the most on-point media man in America, Jon Stewart.
