Two Year Old Shoots Self In Mouth With Daddy’s Gun

A 2-year-old boy in North Carolina is expected to survive after shooting himself with his father’s gun over the weekend.

Randolph County deputies said that the toddler found the handgun in his parents’ room at their home just outside Asheboro around 2 p.m. on Saturday. The boy put the gun in his mouth and fired it.

According to WGHP, the boy was listed in critical condition Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem on Sunday, but was expected to live.

“The bullet missed all the vital arteries there in the neck in the head and also missed the spinal cords, so I said it’s a miracle the child is still with us,” Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Captain Derrick Hill explained to WGHP.

A neighbor told the station that “the good Lord was looking after him.”

The sheriff’s and district attorney’s offices were considering whether to charge the parents with leaving the firearm unattended.

Top Republican Says Planned Parenthood “More Lethal” To Blacks Than KKK

Politico is reporting that the newly minted Republican nominee for lieutenant governor of Virginia once compared Planned Parenthood to the Ku Klux Klan and bemoaned black voters’ “slavish devotion” to the Democratic Party — past statements that are likely to inflame the culture-war politics of the state’s 2013 elections.

E.W. Jackson, a black minister and activist nominated for lieutenant governor Saturday, posted a four-minute video on YouTube last fall exhorting African-Americans to vote Republican. In the video message, he accused the “civil rights establishment” of selling out their Christian values in order to support Democratic policy positions on gay marriage and abortion.

“The Democrat Party has created an unholy alliance between certain so-called civil rights leaders and Planned Parenthood, which has killed unborn black babies by the tens of millions. Planned Parenthood has been far more lethal to black lives than the KKK ever was,” Jackson says in the video.

The NRA – Tricking Voters Into Thinking Kelly Ayotte Supports Background Checks

The NRA is at it again. After Kelly Ayotte voted against background checks, her poll numbers plummeted by 15 points. But have no fear, the NRA is here. Doing what they do best, the NRA made an ad that straight out lie, telling voters that Kelly is for background checks.

Talking Points made this observation:

The ad’s core claim is that “Kelly Ayotte voted for a bipartisan plan to make background checks more effective.” In reality, Ayotte opposed the bipartisan background checks plan co-sponsored by Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA). What she voted for instead was a plan by Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) that would actually weaken gun laws by making it easier to buy and transport guns across state lines. Gun sales in states with lax gun laws are a common method of evading strict state and local laws, and are a major driver of gun violence in cities such as Chicago. So the proposal Ayotte supported could make gun violence worse.

Here’s the Ad.

This week’s Presidential address focused on the Middle class and how to continue building on the progress of the last four years. President Obama stated three areas where that focus on the middle class must continue: jobs, skills and opportunity.

Pacers vs Knicks: Congratulations to the Referees

I went to a sports bar to watch the game. And at the end of the game, someone summed it up perfectly with this phrase:

Congratulations Pacers, the refs played a great game for you.

That’s all I have to say about the game.

Question That Broke IRS News Was Planted

The Washington Post is reporting that the question that led Lois Lerner to disclose the IRS’s wrongdoing was planted by none other than Lerner herself.

Celia Roady, the lawyer whose question led Lerner to disclose the committee’s wrongful targeting of conservative groups, said Friday that Lerner asked her to ask the question.

“On May 9, I received a call from Lois Lerner, who told me that she wanted to address an issue after her prepared remarks at the ABA Tax Section’s Exempt Organizations Committee Meeting, and asked if I would pose a question to her after her remarks,” Roady said. “I agreed to do so, and she then gave me the question that I asked at the meeting the next day. We had no discussion thereafter on the topic of the question, nor had we spoken about any of this before I received her call. She did not tell me, and I did not know, how she would answer the question.”

Heritage Foundation to Republicans: Don’t Work, Promote Obama Scandals Instead

The Republican voter should be outraged. You go to the polls and vote for someone who campaigned and told you that they will represent you in Congress. You think you’re doing your civil duty by voting, only to realize later, that other companies and organizations are the ones pulling your congressperson’s strings.

Here’s an example. The Heritage Foundation recently sent this letter to all Republicans in Congress, urging them not to do the work of the people, but focus on so-called “scandals” surrounding the Obama administration instead.

Here’s the email, addressed to Speaker Boehner and Leader Cantor

Dear Speaker Boehner and Leader Cantor:

For the first time, the activities of the Obama administration are receiving a sustained public vetting.  Americans’ outrage over Benghazi is amplified by the Internal Revenue Service’s intimidation of conservative grassroots organizations and a cascade of negative headlines.  There is the real sense the Obama administration has been less than forthright with the American people, the press and lawmakers.

Recent events have rightly focused the nation’s attention squarely on the actions of the Obama administration. It is incumbent upon the House of Representatives to conduct oversight hearings on those actions, but it would be imprudent to do anything that shifts the focus from the Obama administration to the ideological differences within the House Republican Conference.

To that end, we urge you to avoid bringing any legislation to the House Floor that could expose or highlight major schisms within the conference. Legislation such as the Internet sales tax or the FARRM Act which contains nearly $800 billion in food stamp spending, would give the press a reason to shift their attention away from the failures of the Obama administration to write another “circular firing squad” article.

Make no mistake, principled conservatives will still oppose bad policy if it comes to the floor.  Rather than scheduling such legislation for consideration, we urge you to keep the attention focused squarely on the Obama administration. As the public’s trust in their government continues to erode, it is incumbent upon those of us who support a smaller, less intrusive government to lead.

Sincerely,

Michael A. Needham
Chief Executive Officer
Heritage Action for America

But then, who’s really surprised. In his first week in office, Republicans bought into Rush Limbaugh’s demand that Obama should fail. Heck, even Senator McConnell said that his main objective was to deny Obama a second term. And Republicans have put up stumbling blocks to every policy initiative the President pushed.

So no, we’re not surprised now when Heritage sends this letter telling Republicans what their goal is. But we do feel a sense of disappointment knowing that the average Republican voters have no say. We’re saddened that these voters think they’re participating in a Democracy, when in fact, they’re unknowingly taking part in a Plutocracy.

And these voters don’t know the difference.

Wife Shot In Head While Showing Off Gun To Husband

When would enough be enough? Here’s another story of a young life cut short, and guess what? A gun is involved.

A woman has been killed after her new assault rifle which she was showing to her friends fired – shooting her in the head.

Gun enthusiast Anastasia Adair, 22, was walking down the stairs and into the garage in her home in Federal Heights, Colorado, when she reached out to hand the rifle to her husband.

The gun, believed to look like an AK-47, fired, hitting her in the head on Tuesday at about 10.40pm local time.

Husband Shane Adair, a tattoo artist, told police he is not sure if he touched the gun as his wife handed it to him, according to Federal Heights Police Lt. Gary Toldness.

The gun is believed to have fired another shot as Mrs Adair fell down the stairs and into her husband’s arms.

And they say guns don’t kill people… Please!

Citizens United Nancy Pelosi Politics

Nancy Pelosi Blames Citizens United for IRS Controversy

I completely agree with Nancy Pelosi. If the Supreme Court had done the sensible thing instead of catering to partisan idealogy and struck down Citizens United, we would not be dealing with this nonsense today.

The IRS is under heavy fire from both parties following recent revelations that some in the agency singled out conservative groups for extra scrutiny when they applied for a certain tax-exempt status.

Pelosi condemned those actions Thursday, saying those responsible “were wrong and must be held accountable.”

But the Democratic leader was also quick to link the scandal to the broader issue of campaign finance, arguing that the episode would never have happened if Congress overhauled the system to eliminate so-called 501(c)(4) groups altogether.

Those groups, which do not have to disclose their donors, have gained power and prominence since the Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United decision empowered them to participate directly in elections provided they focus primarily on “social welfare” and not candidate advocacy.

“These actions highlight why we must overturn Citizens United,” Pelosi told reporters in the Capitol. “There is a very thin line … that these so-called ‘social welfare’ organizations must make their priority promoting social welfare, rather than engaging in politics. Clearly, this has not been [the case].

“I paint everybody with the same brush, right to left,” she added. “I think it all should go.”

New York Knicks Win – Lives To Play Another Day

It’s back to Indiana on Saturday, as the Pacers failed to end the Knicks season at Madison Square Garden. Or maybe it was the Knicks failing to go down in front of the home crowd. Either way, the Knicks began the game with two baskets by Carmelo Anthony and New York kept the lead for the rest of the game.

Final score was Knicks 85, Pacers 75.

Knicks were still out rebounded by 3 in this game (43-40), but they were more desperate for the win and played with a sense of urgency they missed in game 4. The spark for the Knicks tonight came from Copeland, who played 19 minutes but was automatic from the three-point line.

Copeland 13 points, 9 of those points coming from beyond the three-point arch. He pulled down 4 rebounds and had 2 steals.

Anthony led all scoring with 28 points.

Indiana leads the series 3 games to 2. Game six is scheduled for Saturday in Indiana.

Chris Matthews is Apparently Auditioning for a Fox News Show

Chris Matthews of MSNBC’s Hardball seems to be auditioning for a show of Fox News. Over the last few nights on his program, Matthews has taken the unusual position of hauling unwarranted attacks on the President, questioning the President’s leadership skills and wondering if Mr. Obama has any idea what is happening in America.

Here is an example of how Matthews is updating his resume with some Fox News talking points;

“What part of the presidency does Obama like? He doesn’t like dealing with other politicians — that means his own cabinet, that means members of the congress, either party. He doesn’t particularly like the press…. He likes to write the speeches, likes to rewrite what Favreau and the others wrote for the first draft.

“So what part does he like? He likes going on the road, campaigning, visiting businesses like he does every couple days somewhere in Ohio or somewhere,” Matthews continued. “But what part does he like? He doesn’t like lobbying for the bills he cares about. He doesn’t like selling to the press. He doesn’t like giving orders or giving somebody the power to give orders. He doesn’t seem to like being an executive.”

Matthews also said that the President, who gave him a thrill up his leg back in the 2008 campaign, “obviously likes giving speeches more than he does running the executive branch.”

The people at Fox News are taking notes.

Boston Bomber Wrote “F*ck America” While Hiding In Boat

He thought he was going to die. And while feeling around in his hiding place, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev found a pen and wrote what he thought was his final message to the world, explaining why the bombings occured.

The 19-year-old found a pen in the boat but no paper so it was revealed today that he wrote his message on an interior wall of the boat that he used as shelter in Watertown.

His message was clear: ‘F*** America’.

In other portions of his message, ABC News reports that he wrote ‘Praise Allah’ and mentioned ‘infidels’ across the interior walls of the boat that are now riddled with bullets.

Law enforcement sources told CBS that Dzhokhar wrote that he ‘does not mourn’ the death of his older brother Tamerlan because he is a martyr living in ‘paradise’ and that he expected to join him there soon.

The note is a critical piece of evidence for police as it reiterates what Dzhokhar said to them  in the hospital after his arrest.
