Where’s The Manufactured Outrage Now? IRS Targeted “Progressive” Groups Too

Calling all those “concerned” Tea Partiers and Republicans who cried foul that the IRS targeted Conservative groups. Can you hear me? Are you out there? Here’s another bit of news for you to cry about. Documents released today revealed that the IRS “targeted” Progressives groups too.

Crickets… silence

The Internal Revenue Service targeted progressive groups applying for tax-exempt status in addition to conservative ones, according to IRS documents released by congressional Democrats on Monday.

The documents and an internal IRS report being sent to congressional committees reveal that the tax agency used terms that included “progressive” and “occupy” to flag progressive organizations for extra scrutiny before the 2012 elections.

The revelations greatly complicate the political scandal that has engulfed the IRS over the past few weeks. An inspector general report in mid-May revealed the tax agency had screened conservative groups with words like “tea party” in their name when considering applications for tax-exempt status. Lawmakers from both parties quickly denounced the creation of such “Be On The Lookout,” or BOLO, lists. Republicans in particular argued the finding proved the IRS was trying to tip the scales of the election during the heat of the campaign.

Apparently, when the talking point was “IRS is targeting the Teaparty,” everyone was up in arms. With the new revelation that Progressive groups were looked at in the same way, no one cares.

Shocked? Me neither.

New Orleans: 5 Year Old Shoots Self in Head

But don’t worry, guns don’t kill people, people kill people. That twisted way of thinking comes from the NRA and the Republican party.

According to their reasoning, the gun had nothing to do with this 5 year old’s death. She could have also bludgeon herself to death with a rock.

A New Orleans mother is facing murder charges after her 5-year-old daughter, who was locked their home alone, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Investigators told WWLTV that 28-year-old Laderika Smth admitted that a gun was in the home where she had left her daughter while she went to the store.

New Orleans police were called to the home just before 11 a.m. on Sunday and found the 5-year-old girl lying on the bedroom floor. A .38 revolver was also recovered at the scene.

“See that little girl was probably going through the house and she probably ran across the gun, probably thought it was a toy and started playing with it,” neighbor Amber Rodriguez told WVUE.

After being rushed to a local hospital, the girl was taken off life support Sunday evening.

Court Rules: Transgender 6 Year Old Could Use Girls Bathroom

A transgender 6-year-old child who was told she was no longer allowed to use the girls bathroom at her Colorado elementary school scored a major victory Sunday.

The Colorado Civil Rights Division weighed in on the side of first-grader Coy Mathis, who was told in December to stop using the girls restroom at Eagleside Elementary School in Fountain.

“Schools should not discriminate against their students, and we are thrilled that Coy can return to school and put this behind her,” Coy’s mother, Kathryn Mathis, said in a statement. “All we ever wanted was for Coy’s school to treat her the same as other little girls. We are extremely happy that she now will be treated equally.”

The family recently moved to Denver, 80 miles from Fountain, so Coy will be attending a different school in the fall, FOX31 reported.

Coy was born a boy, but identified as a girl at a very young age and began to dress that way. After allowing Coy to use the girls bathroom until December, Eagleside ordered the child to use the boys restroom, a staff bathroom, or the nurse’s bathroom, according to 7News in Denver. Coy’s family responded by filing a civil rights complaint

Where In The World Is Edward Snowden

Apparently, the NSA snitch didn’t board his flight to Havana Cuba.

Boarding is over. Aeroflot agent says Snowden not on plane.
— Miriam Elder (@MiriamElder) June 24, 2013

11:18pm BST—Max Seddon of the Associated Press says that he is standing next to Snowden’s seat on the flight – and “he ain’t here”.

12:33pm BST—

Miriam Elder sends more from Interfax and its “source familiar with Snowden’s situation”: “Snowden is probably already outside the Russian Federation. He could have flown on a different place. It is unlikely journalists could become witnesses to his flight.”

Finger Licking Buffalo Chicken Bites

One of my favorite guilty pleasures is buffalo wings, especially dipped in blue cheese dressing. There’s something about the buffalo chicken and blue cheese combo that really appeals to me and I had a craving for it lately. When I came across a recipe for ham and cheese stuffed pretzel bites, I figured I could substitute it with chicken and blue cheese. That’s when I decided to make these Buffalo Chicken Bites… yum!

These are such an awesome snack, which could be a meal in itself if you have enough of them. It’s not hard since they are addictively delicious! I made a few changes to the original recipe aside from the filling substitution, including omitting the process of boiling the bites before baking. I feared the filling would ooze out during the boiling process so I just baked them after filling and they came out perfectly.

I plan on making these again and experimenting with other fillings such a steak, provolone, sauteed peppers and onions for Philly Cheesesteak Bites… or even pepperoni, italian sausage, mozzarella and mushrooms for Pizza Bites. The filling ideas are endless!

Buffalo Chicken Bites

Recipe from Joelens

1 cup finely diced cooked chicken breast

1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese

2 tablespoons shredded cheddar cheese

1/4 cup hot sauce (Frank’s brand is what I used)

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled

2 1/4 teaspoons rapid rise dry yeast

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 cup warm milk ( I used 2%)

2 1/2 cups of flour

To make the buffalo chicken mixture, in a small bowl, combine the chicken, blue cheese, cheddar cheese, melted butter and hot sauce; set aside.

In a 1 cup measuring cup, heat the milk and then add the 2 tablespoons brown sugar; stir into warm milk until dissolved; place in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook.

Add 2 1/2 cups flour and yeast to the stand mixer and mix on low speed until a soft dough forms, adding up to 1/2 cup additional flour, a little at a time, if necessary. Allow the dough to knead in the stand mixer for 5-7 minutes. Turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead a few times to form a smooth ball. Place dough into a clean bowl that’s been lightly oiled. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a draft-free place at warm room temperature until doubled and bubbles appear on surface, about 2 hours.

Preheat oven to 400°F with rack in the middle of the oven. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside.

Turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface and cut into 4 equal pieces. Lightly dust your hands with flour, then gently roll and stretch 1 piece of dough to form a 12-inch-long rope. Flatten dough and arrange so a long side is nearest you, then roll out to a roughly 12- by 4-inch rectangle with a lightly floured rolling pin. Gently press one fourth of buffalo chicken mixture into lower third of rectangle, leaving a 1/2-inch border along bottom edge. Stretch bottom edge of dough up over filling and press tightly to seal, then roll up as tightly as possible to form a rope. Cut rope into 12 pieces and transfer to a sheet pan. Make 3 more ropes with remaining dough, filling and cut into pieces, transferring to sheet pans. Let rest at room temperature, uncovered, 30 minutes (dough will rise slightly).

Bake buffalo chicken bites in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes or until the tops are lightly browned. Remove from oven (some cheese may have melted out.) and brush tops with melted butter before serving (optional).

Zimmerman’s Judge Blocks 911 Voice Analysis Testimony

The screams are clearly coming from a distraught male, whose repeated cries for help end abruptly with a gunshot. What is not clear from a recording of a 911 call, however, is the identity of the screamer: George Zimmerman, the volunteer community watchman, or Trayvon Martin, the unarmed 17-year-old he killed that night.

While jurors in Mr. Zimmerman’s second-degree-murder trial, in which opening statements are scheduled for Monday, may get to hear the recording in court, they will not hear the opinions of two audio experts for the prosecution about who the screamer is, or is not. One concluded that the voice was not Mr. Zimmerman’s; the other said it was very likely Mr. Martin’s.

In an order released on Saturday, the judge in the case, Debra S. Nelson, excluded their testimony. She said the science supporting the experts’ analyses “is not as widely accepted at this time” as the more established methods relied on by defense witnesses who said it was impossible to conclude whose voice it was.

A neighbor made the 911 call on Feb. 26, 2012, during the fatal encounter between Mr. Zimmerman, who is Hispanic, and Mr. Martin, who was black and was returning to a home where he was staying after buying snacks. Citing Mr. Zimmerman’s claims of self-defense, the police did not arrest him for six weeks, setting off protests nationwide.

Edward Snowden Now Running to Cuba, Making Quick Stop In Russia

Russian officials say the NSA whistleblower will make a stop in Russia before continuing his trip to Cuba.

The former National Security Agency contractor is expected to land in Moscow at 5 p.m. Sunday, a Foreign Ministry official told the Los Angeles Times on condition of anonymity.

The next flight to Havana is Monday afternoon so Snowden most likely will spend his time in the transit zone of Moscow Sheremetyevo airport, he said.

“Snowden doesn’t have a Russian visa, and he can’t get outside the transit area of the airport,” the official said. “Even if there is an Interpol warrant for his arrest, of which we are not aware, our law enforcement agencies won’t be able to do that in the transit area.”

The official said Snowden is traveling in the company of at least one lawyer associated with WikiLeaks.

The Kremlin is not aware of Snowden’s plans, said Dmitry Peskov, President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman. “We know nothing about [Snowden’s] plans, whether he is coming to Moscow or not,” Peskov said.

Snowden – the man who violated his oath to secrecy and blew the whistle on the United States Government’s NSA program – once said that he cannot allow the U.S Government to destroy privacy and basic liberties. He is now running to a country where the Government destroys citizen’s privacy and basic liberties as part of their governing strategies.

Fox News Guest Blames Trayvon Martin For His Own Murder

Shocking, yea, I know. But it’s only shocking to you because you are thinking as a logical person. If you watched Fox News however, you might believe that Trayvon Martin caused his own murder.

That is the kind of information Fox is broadcasting. One of their guest, a former New York Police Detective Harry Houck, actually opened his mouth and made that statement, saying  “… listen, Trayvon Martin would be alive today if he didn’t have a street attitude. That’s the bottom line.”

I supposed the “street attitude” Detective Harry Houck is talking about has to do with the Skittles Trayvon had when he was shot by Zimmerman. Or maybe it was the can of Iced Tea he bought at Seven Eleven. Those two things mixed with Trayvon’s skin color automatically equals “street attitude” in this Detective’s mind.

That is a scary statement, but it’s even more scarier coming from someone who was a New York Police detective. With an attitude like this, I wonder how many innocent people are imprisoned because of this stereotypical racist attitude from a detective.

All his cases should be reopened and examined thoroughly! It’s disgraceful that a detective would even entertain this way of thinking.

Paula Deen Fired From Food Network

Paula Deen, the self-proclaimed queen of Southern cooking and a sugary mainstay of the Food Network, was dropped by the network on Friday, following a bewildering day in which she failed to show up for an interview on the “Today” show and then in two online videos begged her family and audience for forgiveness for using racist language.

A network spokeswoman said it would not renew Paula Deen’s contract when it expires at the end of June. Ms. Deen has faced a volley of criticism this week over her remarks in a deposition for a discrimination lawsuit by a former employee. In the document, she admitted she had used racial epithets, tolerated racist jokes and condoned pornography in the workplace.

The Food Network statement did not elaborate on its reasons for dropping her, but a person close to the network said its shows featuring her sons, Jamie and Bobby, would not be affected. Ms. Deen currently has three regular shows on the network, including “Paula’s Best Dishes.”

In her first video on Friday, posted on YouTube and later removed, Ms. Deen, near tears, said: “I want to apologize to everybody for the wrong that I’ve done. I want to learn and grow from this. Inappropriate and hurtful language is totally, totally unacceptable.”

In a longer video posted later in the afternoon, Ms. Deen appeared more composed. “Your color of your skin, your religion, your sexual preference does not matter,” she said, adding, “ I was wrong, yes, I’ve worked hard, and I have made mistakes but that is no excuse and I offer my sincere apology to those that I have hurt, and I hope that you forgive me because this comes from the deepest part of my heart.”
