Breaking news: Pat Robertson spoke the truth! Now, this doesn’t happen often but when it does I’m going to bring it to you.
In his recent 700 Club program, Robertson laments on the plight of the Republican party and acknowledges that radical right may be causing more harm than good.
NOTE: Pat Robertson is inarguably part of the radical right.
With a backdrop like what happen in Oklahoma last Tuesday with the botched execution, media outlets far and wide are making their feelings and opinions known about the death penalty. But I’m choosing to highlight the thoughts and ideas of a comedian.
Why? Because the ideas expressed I think, best represent where this country should go in regards to the death penalty.
The comedian is John Oliver. The show is Last Week Tonight.
Cinco de Mayo, which means the 5th of May in Spanish, is celebrated here in America, but many Americans are clueless to what it really means.
The origin goes back to Mexico, when on May 5th, 1862, the Mexican army was successful in defeating French of led by Napoleon III at The Battle of Puebla.
Mexico had troubles paying back war debts to European countries, and France had come to Mexico to collect that debt.
So when you raise that glass of Margarita or down your second bittle of Tequila, you now have an idea why you’re getting drunk.
The good olé boys over at Fox News. It’s where you get your news, right? Well this is your “news” from your ‘Fair and Balanced’ “news” network.
A recent segment on Fox took America’s attention away from the fact that 288,000 jobs were created in April, lowering the unemployment rate once again to 6.3%. Fox, the “news” people felt our attention would be much better served if it is focused on… Benghazi!
So in cahoots with the pretend “Patriots” in the Republican party, a massive diversion effort went into full swing. And now, once again, after tens of thousands of documents submitted, millions of dollars spent, and numerous investigations conducted, we are now, once again talking about… Benghazi!
America, I know you todd about thank god you’re ready, but here is your news.
In a recent segment, Fox managed to create a scenario where Hillary Clinton is assassinated to prove another false Benghazi point. Fox’s Wayne Rogers is credited with this bit of right wing nuttery;
Imagine the following. Imagine that Hillary Clinton runs for president, and gets assassinated in the process.
And somebody shows up, a congressman, and says, ‘Well, what difference does it make anyway?’ I mean, The New York Times would have that on the front page!
The segment was in reference to a testimony Hillary Clinton gave about Benghazi years ago, and a point she made that the focus now should be on how to prevent another Benghazi from happening, instead of wasting time trying to figure out if the attackers were terrorists or angry movie critics.
The Fox thought a Clinton assassination scenario would be a great way to prove their dumb point.
But then again, proving dumb points is what the Fox does best.
Earlier I told you about an expected vote by Wisconsin Republicans to secede from the United States. The vote was scheduled to happen over the weekend as state Republicans held their convention. Well the vote happened yesterday and guess what? It seems there are still some sensible Republicans in the old party, and they realized that seceding from the United States was not the best idea.
Apparently these Republicans did not want to be the “laughingstock” of the nation if the succeeded, and they managed to convince the rest of the Wisconsin Republicans to vote against seceding.
Delegates at the Republican Party of Wisconsin’s convention Saturday overwhelmingly rejected a resolution affirming the state’s right to secede from the United States in extreme circumstances.
Some delegates worried the party could become a national laughingstock if the resolution passed.
“The party spoke loudly today that secession is not something we support,” executive director Joe Fadness said after the vote.
The secession debate drew attention leading up to the convention, which featured speeches from the state’s Republican leaders, including Gov. Scott Walker, U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson, Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald, Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, U.S. Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner, Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch and others.
Walker told the crowd gathered at the Wisconsin Center in Milwaukee not to be distracted by side issues.
NOTE TO REPUBLICANS – You guys are already the laughingstoock of the nation.
This photo of Principal Annie Schmutz Siefullah was found on her school computer
Crazy, yea I know. But according to reports, the sexy Queens principal was immediately removed from her position since an investigation showed that the Principal – 35-year old Annie Schmutz Siefullah of the 7th- to 12th-grade Robert Wagner Secondary School of Arts and Technology, in Long Island City – is having sex left and right… in the school!
“We are appalled by these disturbing allegations and acted swiftly to remove the principal while the matter is under investigation,” a Department of Education spokesman said. “This type of alleged behavior is completely unacceptable for any DOE employee.”
Principal Anni is accused of having sex with a security guard, an assistant principal and the parent of one of her students to name a few. And she would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn’t for the hurt parent she had sex with. He found out about his competition and decided to report Miss Anni!
The angry ex turned over three DOE laptops he obtained while living with Seifullah, including MacBooks containing photos of herself in racy lingerie and in various sex acts, including a threesome, he told The Post.
He also gave investigators a video and audio tape in which a woman he identified as Seifullah acknowledged engaging in oral sex with an NYPD school-safety agent in the school security office, and with a visiting assistant principal in a book-storage room during school hours.
“I don’t know what I was thinking. I don’t know why I thought it was OK,” she tells the furious dad in the taped conversation, after he accuses her of cheating on him.
“You gave him [expletive deleted] while my child was in the building,” he roars at one point.
The dad, a fortysomething entrepreneur, also gave excerpts from a letter he says Seifullah wrote, admitting she hooked up twice with an “old lover.”
“The second [time] was a visit to my school that led to a sexual encounter which included brief oral sex in a hidden location,” the letter states.
The dad, whose name is being withheld to protect his child’s privacy, said he came forward because Seifullah — the mom of a toddler son — “played me for a fool.”
“Ms. Seifullah clearly used her power and position as principal to . . . seek several sexual partners at her school,” he charged.
Having sex inside a school or placing sexual images on school equipment could lead to misconduct charges. The investigation continues.
Daniel Simmons – a prosecutor with the Delaware Attorney General’s Office – was arrested on Friday, charged with raping a 16-year-old boy according to New Castle County police.
Delaware authorities say they began investigating the prosecutor, 34-year-old Daniel Simmons, in March after learning of the alleged assault. Police say Simmons was arrested on Friday as soon as the investigation was concluded.
Simmons been placed on administrative leave by the Attorney General’s office.
New Castle County police say Simmons met the 16-year-old through a social media app called Grindr which connects gay and bisexual men, not through his work as a Deputy Attorney General.
Police say further details are being withheld to protect the victim’s identity, but they suspect there may be other victims and are urging anyone with information to contact them.
A teenager was arrested after he fell asleep on the subway while holding a loaded gun in his hand. Demarrius Jackson, 19, was spotted on a N train with the weapon around 7 a.m. Saturday.
According to an NYPD release, a straphanger who got off at Times Square told cops she had spotted Jackson “lying outstretched on the train seats with a firearm in his hand.”
Three officers boarded the train, which was being held by the MTA, doing just that: snoozing across two seats located near the rear doors while holding the gun in his hands. Jackson, from South Carolina, was charged with criminal possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a defaced firearm and unlawful possession of marijuana (cops also found pot in his pocket after this arrest). Unfortunately, there is no criminal charge for breaking subway etiquette.
Just days after Oklahoma demonstrated the most effective way to botch an execution, a Republican Representative in that state who is also a Protestant Christian, said that he doesn’t care how inmates are killed, as long as they are killed. Even if it means opening up the Dens under the prison and allowing the lions to rip their flesh apart.
In an interview with the Associated Press, Christian said, “I realize this may sound harsh, but as a father and former lawman, I really don’t care if it’s by lethal injection, by the electric chair, firing squad, hanging, the guillotine or being fed to the lions.”
Mike Christian so love the death penalty, he even wanted to impeach the judges who tried to halt the execution.

President Obama continued his personal tradition at this year’s White House Correspondents Dinner, of being the funniest man on the room.
Watch, as even Boehner’s color got a laugh with this remark, “These days, House Republicans are giving [Speaker John Boehner] a harder time than they give me – which means orange really is the new black,”
The President even went after Chris Christie when he spoke about the partisan gridlock in Washington, saying that partisan gridlock “has gotten so bad in this town – you’ve got to wonder, ‘What did we do to piss off Chris Christie so bad?”
There’s an analogy used in the piece that sums up this judge’s decision, and that analogy is – having a rapist watch over rape victims it’s like having a pedophile in charge at a children’s day care. In other words, it makes no sense!
A Texas judge ordered an admitted rapist to spend 45 days in jail, plus 5 years probation and 250 hours of community service at a rape crisis center where volunteers work directly with victims, reports CBS DFW.
Sir Young, 20, was sentenced Friday as part of a plea deal for raping a 14-year-old girl on their high school campus when he was 18, according to the station.
He had faced a maximum of 20 years in prison, according to the Dallas Morning News.
“When probation called, they asked, ‘Is this possible?’ I said, ‘No, it’s not possible’,” Dallas Area Rape Crisis Center (DARCC) executive director Bobbie Villareal told CBS DFW.
DARCC is the only rape crisis center in Dallas that uses volunteers, and it requires them to clear a criminal background check. Volunteers work directly with victims, answering their calls to the hotline and assisting them during rape exams. They also work with local organizations like the Girl Scouts and attend public events doing community outreach with police, according to the station.
“It flies in the face of logic. First of all, in that you would ask someone to do their community supervision for the population that has been directly affected by the exact crime. That’s like saying a pedophile should do their community supervision helping at a pre-school,” Villareal said.
Scott Berkowitz, president and founder of of the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN), agrees that it’s not a logical idea to have a rapist spend time with rape victims.
“It’s incredibly hard to get [sexual assault] survivors to report in the first place and when they see sentences like this, it’s just more discouragement,” Berkowitz told CBS News’ Crimesider.
