Shooting Near Site of Brooklyn’s West Indian Day Parade

At least five people were shot, one fatally, near the route of Brooklyn’s West Indian Day Parade in a string of early morning shootings Monday, the New York Daily News reports.

A gunman opened fire into a crowd that had already begun parade festivities in Crown Heights about 3:30 a.m., police said, hitting three people and an unmarked police vehicle.

A 55-year-old man, shot in the midsection, died at the scene at the corner of Empire Blvd. and Rogers Ave. — about six blocks from the route of the parade that kicked off at 11 a.m.

A 22-year-old woman was shot in the ankle and a 22-year-old man was shot in the leg, cops said. Both were taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.

A round also shattered a window of an unmarked police vehicle, showering an NYPD detective inside with glass, officials said. He was treated and released from SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

Congressman – At This Time of Crisis, Congress Has Gone “AWOL”

At a time of crisis in the Middle East, Congress has gone “AWOL,” Rep. John Larson said Monday.
“Congress has been off for more than six weeks,” the Connecticut Democrat said on MSNBC. “Some have said, and I can’t disagree with them, that we’re AWOL,” Politico reports.

Congress began its recess on Aug. 1 and reconvenes on Sept. 8, but as news of threats in Iraq and Syria mount, Larson said lawmakers “cannot wait till next week” to join the discussions on what should be done in regard to foreign policy.

“We ought to be back there making sure that we’re meeting as a committee of the whole and debating and defining this issue clearly,” Larson said.

Larson’s interview came on the Labor Day holiday, as members of the House and Senate enjoyed their last week of vacation.

“Today is Labor Day, where we celebrate work and we celebrate the efforts of those who labor throughout the year,” Larson said. “Congress is not at work.”
He added, “I agree with the premise that these are issues that have to be debated and the time is now, and Congress has a responsibility and an obligation to the American people.”

Police Arrests Teenage Girl Trying to Join Terrorist Group in Syria

These people are brainwashed.

French police arrested her at the airport when she tried to get on a plane to Syria. They also arrested a 20-year-old man who reportedly recruiting her and paying for her plane ticket. And according to France’s interior minister, the girl’s family had no idea what she was up to.

The terrorist group ISIS has been rather notorious for recruiting Westerners, and a recent U.S. intelligence estimate says about a dozen Americans have joined the cause. (There’s nothing in the report about this teenage girl, however, that she was going to join ISIS.)

Systemwide Problems with The Ferguson Police Department

Photo:(Charlie Riedel/AP)

It’s not just Darren Wilson, there are multiple incidents showing police force and brutality against the people they are supposed to protect, and multiple investigations into different officers in the Ferguson police department.

Federal investigators are focused on one Ferguson, Mo., police officer who fatally shot an unarmed black teenager, but at least five other police officers and one former officer in the town’s 53-member department have been named in civil rights lawsuits alleging the use of excessive force.

In four federal lawsuits, including one that is on appeal, and more than a half-dozen investigations over the past decade, colleagues of Darren Wilson’s have separately contested a variety of allegations, including killing a mentally ill man with a Taser, pistol-whipping a child, choking and hog-tying a child and beating a man who was later charged with destroying city property because his blood spilled on officers’ clothes.

One officer has faced three internal affairs probes and two lawsuits over claims he violated civil rights and used excessive force while working at a previous police department in the mid-2000s. That department demoted him after finding credible evidence to support one of the complaints, and he subsequently was hired by the Ferguson force.

Police officials from outside Ferguson and plaintiffs’ lawyers say the nature of such cases suggests there is a systemic problem within the Ferguson police force. Department of Justice officials said they are considering a broader probe into whether there is a pattern of using excessive force that routinely violates people’s civil rights.

We Are Seriously Screwed – PIC

Something is seriously wrong with this nation when we put more effort into making sure 9-year-old girls stay away from make-up, but we’re totally okay with them shooting fully automatic weapons, like an Uzi for example!

A Federal Judge Strikes Down Parts of Texas’ Restrictive Abortion Law

The “small government” Republicans in the great state of Texas are not going to take this one laying down. They have already indicated they are going to fight this decision and are prepared to take their fight all the way to the Supreme Court.

A federal judge late Friday struck down two provisions of a Texas law that has already forced the closure of half the state’s abortion clinics, granting at least a temporary reprieve to nearly a dozen more facilities that would have otherwise gone out of business Monday.

U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel, in a 21-page decision, concluded that when the two provisions in question “are considered together, they create a scheme that effects the closing of almost all abortion clinics in Texas that were operating legally in the fall of 2013.”

As a result, Yeakel said, “the overall effect of the provisions is to create an impermissible obstacle as applied to all women” seeking an abortion. If the provisions were allowed to stand, women in Texas would shoulder an “unconstitutional undue burden,” he wrote, because the Texas law restricts access to previously available legal facilities.

These “small government” Republicans who believe that “government should stay out of our lives,” need to be in charge of the most personal, private decision a woman can make over her own body.

Herman Cain Knows Obama’s Secret, And He’s Telling It

Herman Cain has somehow got his filthy, grimy hands on President Obama’s secret plan, his secret mission to get the Republicans to impeach him right before the November election. And Herman Cain, being a Republican, is not going to keep Obama’s secret, secret. He is going to foil the president’s plan by telling it to the whole world.

Herman Cain was a guest on Rick Wiles’ End Times radio broadcast yesterday where he warned that President Obama will soon issue an executive order providing a path to citizenship to millions of undocumented immigrants in order to mobilize Hispanic voters to turn out in the upcoming midterm elections. As a bonus, such a move will force Republicans in Congress to impeach Obama, which is exactly what Democrats want because it’ll distract the media from Obama’s incompetence and corruption.

Cain told Wiles that Obama will issue such an order because he knows that by the time Congress or the courts take steps to stop his decision, he will have already mobilized millions of Hispanic voters, including those who are here illegally, to vote for the Democrats in the November elections.

Sidenote: The president has already indicated that he is not doing anything on immigration before the November elections.

You got it wrong again Herman Cain. Why are Republicans always wrong about everything?

GOP’s ‘TanSuit Gate’ – The President “feels pretty good” About his Wardrobe

With so much going on in the world today Republicans are focused like a laser on the only issue they’re concerned about – President Obama’s tan suit. But like Jay Z said, the president is just brushing them off his shoulders.

He ain’t concerned.

President Obama “feels pretty good” about his decision to wear a tan suit to a presidential press conference, press secretary Josh Earnest said Friday.

“The president stands squarely behind his decision he made yesterday to wear his summer suit,” Earnest said at the opening of his daily press briefing with reporters.
The press secretary said he had considered also wearing a tan-colored outfit on Friday but decided it might be “too much.”

Incredible Video – Man Tased and Arrested While Getting his Kids from Daycare

You know, I’m really getting sick and tired of all these posts about police brutality. And I would love for the day when there will be no more posts to publish about police brutality. But until that day comes, I am left with no choice.

There is an element of police brutality in this nation that is sometimes, borderline racism. I am NOT saying that all cops are guilty of this. I know there are some who are honestly trying to protect and serve their communities.

But when a man leaves his job, and goes to pick up his kids from daycare and gets tased and arrested because he sat on a public bench while waiting to get his kids, I think something is inherently wrong with that… here, in America… the home of the “FREE!”

The incident began when the man in the video – who is black – sat on a bench outside his kids’ daycare center. Security guards ask him to leave. The man said he looked around and saw no evidence that the bench was a private bench and he kept sitting.

The police were called and began asking the man for his ID and in Minnesota where this incident, he was not required to show his ID if there were no suspicion that he had done anything wrong.

The man is heard on the video telling the police officer that he was not doing anything wrong, just waiting for his kids to come out from daycare. But of course this incident had to escalate to the point where he was tazed and arrested for sitting on a public bench.

Pennsylvania Governor To Implement Obamacare to Save his Job

So Obamacare is now a friend of the Republican governors.

After joining the other Republican governors to deny the citizens of their state affordable healthcare through Obamacare, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett has a change of heart and mind. And I am absolutely sure this change of heart had something to do with his 25 points deficit to his Democratic challenger in the upcoming election.

On Thursday, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will announce that it had granted a waiver and reached agreement with the state to provide health care coverage to 500,000 low-income residents through private insurance. The waiver will make Pennsylvania the 27th state, plus the District of Columbia, to accept federal Medicaid dollars.
Pennsylvanians who work in fast food, retail, taxi and limo driving, cleaning and housekeeping, and construction are most likely to benefit from the coverage expansion, a recent report from the health care advocacy group Families USA estimates.

News of the agreement also comes as Republican governors who are expanding their Medicaid programs up to 138 percent of the federal poverty line are registering higher poll numbers than those who do not. A recent poll has found that Gov. Tom Corbett (R-PA) trails Democratic challenger Tom Wolf by 25 percentage points. Meanwhile, 59 percent of Pennsylvania voters back Medicaid expansion, according to data from Public Policy Polling.
