Racism From The Boston Herald – Obama and “Watermelon Flavored Toothpaste”

The Boston Herald thought this was funny when they decided to run it this morning, but the backlash is real, and the online publication is now trying to erase their dumb racist mistake.

In an attempt to poke fun at the Secret Service and the recent intruder who broke into the White House a couple weeks ago – the intruder reaching much further in the building that originally thought – the Boston Herald ran this cartoon showing the intruder taking a bath and the President brushing his teeth. The intruder asking the president if he tried the “watermelon flavored toothpaste.”

With their obvious racism out of the bag and a huge backlash from the public, Jerry Holbert, the man responsible for the cartoon, apologized, saying he is no racist and the obvious racism was not intended.

“To me, I was completely naive or innocent to any racial suggestion. I wasn’t even thinking along those lines at all. I was thinking about myself, I was thinking I really like watermelon.”

He said his inspiration came from a tube of children’s toothpaste left in his house by his son’s girlfriend. “I also apologize to anybody that I offended. This was not my intention at all.”

Then the paper issued its own apology, while saying they “stand by Jerry.”

“His cartoon satirizing the U.S. Secret Service breach at the White House has offended some people and to them we apologize. His choice of imagery was absolutely not meant to be hurtful. We stand by Jerry, who is a veteran cartoonist with the utmost integrity.”

I Agree – Mounting Calls for Head of Seacret Service to Resign

If you can’t do the job, then stop wasting everyone’s time and money, and stop putting the lives of the First Family in your incompetent hands. Over the last few years, our once respected Secret Service Agency has plummeted to something that is now the joke of the town in a very scary way. Something has to change, and that change should start at the top!

“The president is not well-served. … I think this lady has to go – Ms. Pierson,” the committee’s top Democrat, Rep. Elijah Cummings, reportedly said during a radio interview on NewsOneNow Wednesday, the day after Pierson testified before the committee. “There has to be drastic changes.”

In another interview on MSNBC, he said that he does not “feel comfortable” with her at the head of the agency.

“I have come to the conclusion that my confidence and my trust in this director, Ms. Pierson, has eroded. And I do not feel comfortable with her in that position,” Cummings said.

An aide to Cummings later said that Cummings and Pierson spoke Wednesday morning and he told her “if she can’t restore the public’s trust in the agency – and in particular address the cultural issues so agents feel comfortable raising security concerns to their higher-ups – then of course she should not be in that position.”

“After yesterday’s hearing, and after new revelations last night, the Congressman’s trust is eroding, and he believes there needs to be an independent review of the agency,” the Cummings aide said.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-California, told reporters Wednesday that she will follow Cummings’ recommendation if he ultimately calls for Pierson’s resignation.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, who has been deeply involved in investigating the Secret Service, told Bloomberg News, “The president should fire her or at least she should resign.”

Unacceptable That All 5 Layers of White House Security Were Breached by 1 Man – Video

I can understand and accept the first layer of White Hpuse security being breached and maybe on a good day, maybe the second layer as well.

But the third, the fourth and the fifth layers being overcome by one man is not only impossible to even imagine, it shows a negligence by the Secret Service in doing their most basic job – to protect the First Family and the White House.

Possibly A Second Case of Ebola in Texas

Zachary Thompson

Zachary Thompson, Director of Dallas County Health and Human Services, broke the news on Wednesday, that someone closely associated with the man confirmed as having the disease, is being monitored for the deadly Ebola.

“Let me be real frank to the Dallas County residents: The fact that we have one confirmed case, there may be another case that is a close associate with this particular patient. So this is real. There should be a concern, but it’s contained to the specific family members and close friends at this moment.”

Yesterday, the Director of the CDC confirmed that a man who recently traveled from Liberia has the first case of Ebola and is currently in isolation at a Texas facility.

Chris Christie Gets His Lowest Job Approval from NJ Voters

He wants to lead the country, when he cannot even lead New Jersey.

New Jersey voters give Gov. Christie one of his lowest job approval ratings ever, as 46 percent approve and 45 percent disapprove, according to a Quinnipiac University Poll released today.

This compares to a 49 – 47 percent job approval in an August 7 Quinnipiac University poll. Today’s approval rating is his lowest since a 44 – 47 percent job approval in a June 21, 2011, survey.

Republican Member of Congress Urging Generals to Quit in Middle of War

AP Photo/Ed Andrieski

How ridiculous is this? A sitting United States congressman, caught on camera admitting that he and others in congress – all Republicans I’m sure – are urging Generals to quit at a time of war, clearly for political reasons.

U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn made the shocking statement at a town-hall type meeting he had in Colorado after a man in the audience called on Lamborn to support the generals because of the “Muslim Brotherhood in the White House” and FREEDOM! You know, the usual nonsense that shows just how uneducated these Republican voters really are, and how they are more than satisfied to remain ignorant.

Then came this from the Republican congressman.

“A lot of us are talking to the generals behind the scenes, saying, ‘Hey, if you disagree with the policy the White House has given you, let’s have a resignation. You know, let’s have a public resignation, and state your protest, and go out in a blaze of glory.”

I remember the days when politics stopped at the water’s edge and both sides – Democrats and Republicans – came together to show a unified face when our military was engaged in a war. Those days are long gone with the wind, and Republicans like Doug Lamborn are asking our generals to go too!

More Insanity – Armed Felon Allowed on Elevator With The President

Just when you think it couldn’t get more ridiculous, more unbelievable, more unacceptable than an man being allowed to jog across the White House lawn and enter the White House with a knife in his pocket, you hear this news – that three days before the White House intruder made his unwanted visit to the White House, the Secret Service once again dropped the ball and allowed a man with a gun to ride an elevator with President Obama.

But wait, it wasn’t just any man with a gun, it was a felon with a gun!!!

I said it before and I’ll say it again. Someone at the Secret Service needs to be fired preferably the head of the Secret Service, Ms. Pierson!

An armed private security agent was allowed on an elevator with President Barack Obama earlier this month in Atlanta, a Secret Service official said on Tuesday, in another case involving a security failure for the embattled agency.

The incident occurred while Obama was visiting the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Sept. 16, three days before a man with a knife jumped the White House fence in Washington and ran into the executive mansion.

The White House intrusion has sparked sharp criticism of the agency responsible for protecting the president. Secret Service Director Julia Pierson told a congressional committee on Tuesday: “This is unacceptable and I take full responsibility.”

In the Atlanta incident, first reported by the Washington Examiner and Washington Post, a security contractor with the CDC was operating the elevator carrying Obama and his Secret Service detail.

The man began taking pictures and video of Obama on his phone, prompting the Secret Service to take him aside for questioning after they left the elevator, the agency official said.

It was not until his supervisor appeared and asked for his gun that the Secret Service realize he was armed, the official said. Under agency rules, people with access to the president need special clearance to carry guns.

The Washington Post reported that a background check also showed the man had three previous convictions for assault and battery.

White House Fence Jumper Indicted

The man who was allowed to go, uninterrupted, on an a jog across the White House lawn and shown the door to the building where he entered then jogged around the East Room for a while before he was eventually stopped, was indicted today.

Omar Gonzalez, 42, has been charged with one count of entering and remaining a restricting building and grounds, a federal offense that carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, according to an indictment filed by the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia.

According to the federal prosecutors, Gonzalez was carrying a Spyderco VG-10 knife with a 3.5-inch blade, and was also in possession of hundreds of rounds of ammunition in a car parked nearby, including 12-gauge shotgun shells, 9mm rounds and rounds for a sniper rifle.

The knife possession charge holds a maximum fine of $5,000 and up to five years in prison in the District of Columbia, and the ammunition charge carries a potential maximum of a year in prison.

Federal prosecutors say Gonzalez had a dangerous fixation on the president, stockpiling weapons and ammunition and carrying a map to the White House stuffed in a Bible during an earlier arrest.

The disease that has killed thousands in Africa is now confirmed in the United States. The victim who showed symptoms of the disease had blood-work tested and received the terrible news from the CDC, that the blood tested showed evidence of Ebola.

A patient being treated at a Dallas, Texas, hospital is the first case of Ebola virus diagnosed in the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Wednesday.

Several other Americans were diagnosed in West Africa and then brought to the United States for treatment.

The CDC is expected to provide more details on the case in a press conference at 5:30 p.m.

Ted Cruz’s People say, The Canada Born Politician is Running for President

Ted Cruz was born in Canada. Ted Cruz was born in Canada. And for those who need to hear things 3 times to understand… Ted Cruz was born in Canada.

But I digress.

According to sources close to the Texas senator, Cruz could be preparing for an end-of-year announcement and is now dedicating considerable time and effort to cultivating a foreign-policy foundation that might help his candidacy stand out in what is guaranteed to be a crowded field.

“At this point it’s 90/10 he’s in,” one Cruz adviser said. “And honestly, 90 is lowballing it.”

The senator’s choreography since arriving in Washington has long pointed to a presidential run. His office meticulously documents the details of his meetings and events to guard against opposition research. He has aggressively pursued visits to important primary states, including Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. Late last month Cruz hired three prominent consultants with experience in national campaigns and extensive contacts in early nominating states. And he recently moved his chief of staff, Chip Roy, from his congressional office to the campaign operation, sending the clearest signal yet to allies inside and outside the Capitol that a bid for the White House is imminent.

Mitch McConnell Refused to Debate Alison Lundergan Grimes

The Republican Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell, has been in Congress since the beginning of time, and was present at George Washington’s inauguration in 1789.

One would think McConnell would have all his ducks in a row and be able to point to all the advantages Kentuckians would benefit from by keeping him in Congress. One would think McConnell would be happy to debate anyone who dares question his experience and qualification for being in Congress. But one would be wrong. According to reports, McConnell is doing all he can to avoid any debate with his opponent, Alison Lundergan Grimes.

After all his time in Washington, people are still trying to figure out McConnell, and they want to know where he stand on the issues, so of course, they try having the two candidates together to express their views. For the most part, Alison Lundergan Grimes has made herself available, but Mitch it seems, has better things to do.

In a recent KSR radio interview, Alison Lundergan Grimes was onsite with no McConnell to debate. The radio station said that they extended an invitation to both candidates for Kentucky’s Senate seat. McConnell initially said he would attend, but then changed his mind. KRS said, “We have an invitation out to McConnell to come on the show as well, and if he doesn’t accept, Grimes will win the KSR vote.”

Today, Kentucky Sports Radio said that McConnell had agreed to come on the show then stopped returning their calls and emails, “Don’t tell me you’re going to come, and then not come. Why do people have to lie? … They don’t return my calls and emails.”

This is normal behavior for Sen. McConnell. In June, McConnell refused to respond to a debate invitation from The Beattyville Enterprise, “The Enterprise has twice sent email requests for McConnell to appear in Beattyville for a debate, but no response has yet been received.”

Twelve days ago, Sen. McConnell accepted a debate invitation from The Appalachian News-Express but quickly backed out because he was going to be on a bus tour of Kentucky during ALL of the potential dates.

The evidence is clear. Mitch McConnell is afraid to debate Alison Lundergan Grimes. He has turned down debate invitations from media and organizations across the state of Kentucky. It looks like Kentucky voters will only get one chance to see the two candidates debate. The only debate in the Kentucky Senate race is scheduled for October 13.

White House Fence Jumper Ran All The Way to The East Room

When I first heard and saw the video of this, showing a man casually making his way into the White House, I knew something was ghastly wrong. No one, no matter who they are, should be allowed to run across the White House lawn, jog up the stairs to the North doors and not only entered the building, but run all the way to the East Room. This should not happen and like I said when the initial report came out, Secret Service heads should roll because of this!

The Washington Post is reporting that the man who jumped the White House fence this month and sprinted through the front door made it much farther into the building than previously known, overpowering one Secret Service officer and running through much of the main floor, according to three people familiar with the incident.

An alarm box near the front entrance of the White House designed to alert guards to an intruder had been muted at what officers believed was a request of the usher’s office, said a Secret Service official who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The officer posted inside the front door appeared to be delayed in learning that the intruder, Omar Gonzalez, was about to burst through. Officers are trained that, upon learning of an intruder on the grounds — often through the alarm boxes posted around the property — they must immediately lock the front door.

After barreling past the guard immediately inside the door, Gonzalez, who was carrying a knife, dashed past the stairway leading a half-flight up to the first family’s living quarters. He then ran into the 80-foot-long East Room, an ornate space often used for receptions or presidential addresses.

Gonzalez was tackled by a counterassault agent at the far southern end of the East Room. The intruder reached the doorway to the Green Room, a parlor overlooking the South Lawn with artwork and antique furniture, according to three people familiar with the incident.
