DC triplets can take their pick of Ivy League schools

Malik, Ahmad and Khalil Jones are triplets who attend Georgetown Day School in Washington D.C., and they have each earned major achievements in both academics and athletics.

The brothers, who all have a 3.7 GPA, have earned acceptance into some of the nation’s most prestigious schools and only have a few weeks to make their final decision.

The impressive trio credits their success to the discipline and work ethic instilled in them from their parents and the tough competition they have among each other.

“You can’t let the other person be better than you, because you don’t want to be the worst one right?” Khalil jokingly told NBC Washington. “So, it’s kind of like we’re always pushing each other.”

Their strong bond has encouraged the three young men to work hard and in turn, they have collectively accomplished great feats. Now, they have narrowed down their school choices but remain undecided between two Ivy League institutions: Columbia University and the University of Pennsylvania.

Either way, the Jones’ brothers are definitely on a road to much success.

Malik said, “If one of them can accomplish something, then without a doubt, I can definitely do it, too.”

Fox’s Napolitano Agreed – Banning Affirmative Action Hurt Minorities, But That’s Okay

Michigan brought Affirmative Action to the Supreme Court and today, Michigan won!

That’s right, Michigan instituted a ban on Affirmative action and took their fight to keep that ban all the way to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court voted today and in a 6-2 decision, it agreed that Michigan should be allowed to bypass Affirmative action in the state. The ban was originally voted on and approved by the people of the state.

In her 58 page dissent, Justice Sonya Sotomayor pointed out that the decision could harm minorities and have already caused reduced enrollment in Michigan’s Colleges and Universities and Fox’s Napolitano agreed. But it’s the way he agreed that’s making news.

In his happy response to the Supreme Court upholding Michigan’s ban, the Fox host stated that although minorities could be harmed, it’s okay if the people of the state decide to harm do the harming.

The elites that run university systems think they know better than the voters do. And often these university systems – even in states that have a conservative electorate – decide that they want to tinker with the law on their own.”

Now the electorate knows that once it puts a clause in the constitution forbidding the government from making a decision based on race – you know, that thing that the Civil War was supposed to have resolved – that even the elites in the public universities would have to comply with it.”

Napolitano also addressed Sotomayor’s concern that the decision would “harm minorities” because black and Latino enrollment was already dropping at the University of Michigan.

“That’s the beauty of this decision today. It really lets the voters go either way. It doesn’t say the voters must, it says the voters may. But if the voters do prohibit the government in their states from taking race into account for say, college and law school admissions, the government in that state must comply.”

Nut Boy Louis Gohmert Wants Attorney General Eric Holder Arrested

Louie Gohmert is a nut! A very nutty nut. And that’s the only reason he was elected to Congress, because his base – The Teaparty – loves nutty nuts!

Gohmert has said and done some nutty things too, and right up there with the rest of them is his nutty call to Congress to arrest the Attorney General,  Eric Holder.

In an interview on Friday with the Family Research Council’s Washington Watch, Gohmert, the brainchild of the Republican party called for Holder’s arrest.

“When you have someone like an attorney general who is in contempt of Congress, what can we do? Someone in contempt of Congress comes waltzing into the House chamber and he’s in contempt of Congress as found by the Congress, what can be done? I was told that actually you can pass a resolution directing the sergeant at arms to detain anyone who is in contempt of Congress until such time as they comply with the requirement that put him in contempt. In this case, they didn’t provide information from the Justice Department, they had it, they refused to provide it, we found him in contempt.”

It remains to be seen if Congressional Republicans will heed Gohmert call. After all, they are a leaderless group and anyone with something to say, no matter how nutty, gets airtime. Watch this space.

Jon Stewart Smacks Down Bundy Defender Sean Hannity

Cliven Bundy has refused to pay fines to the federal government totalling $1 million dollars. Usually,  this would be an out cry to the so-called “Patriots” over at Fox News and the posse that supports them.

But since the the federal government is now managed by a Democrat in the White House named Barack Obama, Fox is now the head cheerleader as their posse take up arms to defend Bundy’s apparent right to cheat, you know,  FREEDOM!

Jon Stewart – the media voice of reason from Comedy Central – found this position from the “patriots” perplexing, and took on one of the leading pom pom wavers at Fox – Sean Hannity.

“It seems like something about this Bundy feller is blinding Hannity to all the things that would normally drive Hannity mad with rage,” Stewart said. “Is it the hat?”

Knicks Management Fires Head Coach and Entire Coaching Staff

On Monday, the New York Knicks under the guidance of Phil Jackson fired head coach Mike Woodson and the entire coaching staff.

Here’s the announcement:

New York Knickerbockers President Phil Jackson announced today that the team’s coaching staff have been relieved of their duties, effective immediately.

“I have a tremendous amount of respect for Mike Woodson and his entire staff,” Jackson said. “The coaches and players on this team had an extremely difficult 2013-14 season, and blame should not be put on one individual. But the time has come for change throughout the franchise as we start the journey to assess and build this team for next season and beyond.

“Everyone in this franchise owes a great deal of gratitude to what Mike and his staff have done. We wish him the best.”

In parts of three seasons with the Knicks, Woodson compiled an overall record of 109-79 (.580) that included two consecutive NBA Playoff appearances and an Atlantic Division title – the team’s first in 19 years. On Mar. 19, 2014, he became just the seventh coach in franchise history to reach the century mark in victories. Initially named Knicks interim head coach with 24 games remaining in the 2011-12 season, Woodson completed his ninth season at the helm of an NBA franchise, posting a record of 315-365.

The search for a new coaching staff will begin immediately.

Right Wing News – Fox News Concludes, Chelsea Clinton’s Baby Is For Politics

This is the news the far right-wing nuts are interested in and it is why they diligently tune into Fox. Where else would you hear stuff like Chelsea Clinton’s pregnancy is a political ploy for the 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential campaign?

On Sunday, Fox talking head Laura Ashburn, speaking to Fox’s Howard Kurtz, explained that being cynical about Chelsea’s pregnancy is a good thing because… Hillary!

“You’ve been in this town for how many years, and you don’t have a cynical bone in your body?” Ashburn said to Kurtz. “I think a lot of reporters think maybe this was planned.”

She later continued;

“We do have to realize that this is Hillary Clinton, she’s most likely running for president. It hasn’t been good for her. A lot of people say she’s too old. And so, there is coverage.”

Roll the video tape please.

Ralph Reed – Kids Better Off in Orphanages than Adopted by Gays

On This Week with George Stephanopoulos, the panel discussed, among other things, Vladimir Putin’s stance on gays, including his refusing to allow gays to adopt kids in Russia.

One member of the panel was Ralph Reed, a prominent member of the Republican right-wing and a self professed Christian.

The question – whether or not kids are better off in orphanages than being adopted by gay parents?

Reed replied;

“The social science on this is clear. This isn’t about Vladimir Putin, this is about what’s best for children here in the United States. The social science is irrefutable: a child who grows up in a home without the mother and father present, and they both very unique procreative, nurturing, and socializing roles, they’re nine times more likely to end up dropping out of high school; they’re five times more likely to end up in poverty; and they’re three times more likely to end up addicted to drugs and alcohol.”

“But the social science is also irrefutable that a child raised in an orphanage is in much worse shape than a child raised in a home,” fellow panelist Cokie Roberts stated. “And the fact that people are willing to take these children and raise them, and raise them in a loving way, is clearly better for these children.”

“Would you agree with that?” host Martha Raddatz asked. “Would you rather have a child sitting in an orphanage than have gay parents?”

“I think the social science is just simply not in yet on same-sex couples,” Reed said, in a notable departure from his comment thirty seconds ago. “I think the law has every right to set an ideal. And the ideal is a mother and a father.”

“It’s also true, if we got better men we would be in better shape,” Roberts said.

Not So Breaking News – Fox News Contributor Thinks Obamacare is Unconstitutional – Video

George Will

To hell with the Supreme Court and their interpretation that the Affordable Care Act better known as Obamacare was constitutional. What do they know anyway. If you really want to know if the healthcare law is constitutional, just ask George Will – a Fox News contributor whose opinion apparently matters to those at Fox.

On Sunday, Mr. Will once again offered his opinion and guess what? The Fox News regular disagrees with the Supreme Court and has determined that Obamacare is in fact, unconstitutional.

Sidenote: It can be argued that opposition to Obamacare is all one needs to be a contributor on the Fox “News” Network. Mr. Will fits this description perfectly.

Now back to your regularly scheduled Fox News Obamacare bashing…

Mr. Will continues… “On May 8, here in the second-most important court in the land — the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals — there will be an argument that this is objectively a revenue measure,” Mr. Will said. “The Supreme Court said as much, a tax measure.”

“It did not originate in the House. And under the standards of origination, the whole thing is unconstitutional, so this argument, again, is far from over.”

Easter Egghunt Discovery – Dead Body Under Backyard Deck

The mother planned an easter egg hunt in her backyard for her 4 year old child. During the egghunt on wednesday something else was found, a decomposing body.

Knoxville Police have identified the body of the man found during an Easter egg hunt earlier this week.

KPD said the man is Joshua Wayne Grubb, 29, a homeless man from Knoxville. Officials are still waiting for results of his autopsy, but say they believe he died of natural causes.

The body was found by a mother who was having an Easter egg hunt for her four-year-old child in the back yard, according to Knoxville police. Officials said the body had been there for about two weeks.

The woman told police she had smelled a foul odor outside her home on Forest View Road for several days. She tried to find the source of the smell a couple of times during the week to no avail.

When someone cut the woman’s grass earlier this week, she asked the person mowing to search for whatever was creating the foul odor in the yard. The person cutting the grass also did not notice the corpse beneath the deck.

Wednesday night at 7:19 p.m., the mother noticed the smell again during the Easter egg hunt and was finally able to locate the body.

Body Found In Plastic Storage Container On Brooklyn Street

Where the body was found – Photo (GoogleMaps)

Police are questioning a suspect after a body was found stuffed in a plastic storage container in the middle of a street in Brooklyn. According to cops, a passer-by made the discovery in front of a home on East 54th Street in Flatlands at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday. According to CBS, a Brooklyn nightclub owner called police to report that a bouncer at the club admitted to him that he’d killed a man.

Police have not identified the suspect. “Somebody was killed over there by somebody they knew and we have nothing to worry about,” neighbor Lynn Kerschner said police told her.

Neighbor Chris Savareace told CBS that he was friends with the victim, who goes by the nickname Chino. “I don’t know what made somebody so mad to do that to him. I heard they put him in a box, that’s what I heard from the cops. There’s some kind of people in the world that really ain’t that with it anymore,” he said.
