New York UPS Fires 250 Workers Because They Held a 90 Minutes Protest

UPS has delivered a special message to 250 of its Queens drivers: You’re fired!

The Atlanta-based company is booting 250 of its unionized drivers from its Maspeth facility because they walked off the job for 90 minutes Feb. 26 to protest the dismissal of a long-time employee, UPS told the Daily News.

Twenty employees were terminated Monday after their shifts — and the remaining 230 notified that they’ll be canned as soon as replacements are trained, a company spokesman said.

“They just called me in … (and) said, ‘Effective immediately, you are no longer on the payroll,’” said Steve Curcio, 41, a 20-year employee earning $32 an hour.

The mass firing has enraged Tim Sylvester, head of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 804, especially since the company gets some lucrative perks from the city.

United Parcel Service has a contract worth $43 million to provide delivery services to city and state agencies, according to documentation from city officials.

Supreme Court’s Decision – No Limits on Campaign Contributions

In addition to citizens united, here’s more proof that the American democracy is for sale to the highest bidder.

The Conservative led Supreme Court ruled 5-4, in a decision written by Chief Justice John Roberts, that limits on the total amount of money donors can give to all candidates, committees and political parties are unconstitutional. The decision frees the nation’s wealthiest donors to have greater influence in federal elections.

The decision in McCutcheon v. Federal Election Commission marks the latest round in the bitter national debate over the role of money in American politics. It’s the most important campaign-finance ruling since the high court’s 2010 Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission ruling allowed corporations and unions to spend unlimited amounts independently to influence elections…

The decision was a victory for the Republican National Committee and Alabama businessman Shaun McCutcheon, who challenged the $123,200 cap on contributions an individual can give to all federal candidates, parties and political action committees in a two-year election cycle.

Woman’s April Fools “Joke” Gets Her Arrested

There are some things you just shouldn’t joke about. A school shooting is one of those things.

Police say Angela Timmons, 54, who works at Virginia Colleges in Spartanburg County, texted her daughter just after 10 a.m. claiming she ‘could hear gun shots being fired inside the school.’

However, the daughter, April Timmons, who lives in New York couldn’t get hold of her mom after receiving the message and, c-oncerned, the 34-year-old proceeded to call 911 to report the incident.

Sheriff’s deputies swarmed the college where they discovered that no shooting had occurred…

When questioned by Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Angela Timmons, who works in ‘financial planning’ for the school, according to her Facebook page, said she sent the text as a joke.

She said she ‘sent the text as an April Fools joke and that she has done such jokes on April Fools in the past.’…

Timmons was arrested and booked into the Spartanburg county Detention Center.

She is being held there on charges including aggravated breach of peace and disturbing a school.

Oh, Red Sox Fan!

Did Jacoby Ellsbury get a job on Wall Street or is the Red Sox fan just an idiot? Is Ellsbury a trader? Or is he a TRAITOR? Hmmm.

I have to admit, it took some time because I was so focused on “Trader.” This “fan” also spelt Ellsbury’s name wrong.

Nick Cannon Explains His “White People Party Music” Album

Nick Cannon was recently involved in a stunt that had many on the Internet calling him “racist.” The stunt – a picture showing Cannon wearing makeup to appear white – definitely caused some controversy,  but got Cannon the publicity he was after to promote the album.

In an exclusive interview, Cannon explained the decision and why he chose the name, White People Party Music for his album.

“I hoped people would give me a hard time [Laughs]. That’s the whole purpose. It’s just a fun album with a fun title that doesn’t take itself too seriously. At the same time it makes a statement. I always say white people love me, and they know how to have a good time.

Being a DJ, you name all your different crates and playlists. That’s the way I came up with the title. I have bar mitzvah music, trap music, ratchet music and one that says white people party music. And I said to myself, ‘You know, I’m going to name my album that.’ The album could have been titled Purple People Party Music. It’s just a bunch of feel-good songs that tap into the many different places that I’ve been in my life.”

The Most Shocking Thing I’ve Seen On The Walking Dead

I’ve been a fan of The Walking Dead since the very first episode of season one. The long abandoned country road with a sheriff car slowly approaching the intersection to find overturned and abandon vehicles captured my curiosity. It was the first five minutes of the first episode and I wanted to know what happened. Why were all these cars here? What happened to their drivers.

The driver of the sheriff car pulled up and removed a gasoline container from the truck. He maneuvered his way between the cars towards a gas station where he was met with a “no gas” sign. He started walking back to his patrol car when he heard a sound. Someone was Walking.

The sheriff, a man named Rick, dropped to his stomach and looked under one of the cars in the direction where the sound was coming from. On the other side of the car, he saw the walker’s dirty, bloodied feet just strolling along.

Rick sprang to his feet, happy to see what he thought was another human being. He harried to the back of the car. Slowly, walking away from him was a little girl. He called out to her. She stopped, slowly turning around to reveal her hideous, zombified appearance.

She began walking back towards Rick who was still in shock by her appearance. He was confused. He did not know what was happening or what was about to happen. He drew his gun and as the zombie got closer to him, Rick shot her in the head.

That was the first five minutes of the show. I was hooked.

Show after show, season after season, the writers and makeup artists pushed the envelope, doing things I personally had never seen before. There was an episode where Rick and the survivors we’re trapped in a building. They were surrounded by zombies and needed to get out. They came up with a clever plan of mutilating two of the zombies, removing their intestines and covering themselves in zombie blood and guts. The idea was to look and smell like the dead. It worked and they were able to walk out of the building surrounded by The Walking Dead.

But the writers and makeup artists had more surprises up their sleeves and in the season 4 finale, they outdid themselves.

It was the night scene. Rick and Michonne were sitting, talking. Carl was sleeping in an abandoned car nearby. Out of nowhere guns with drawn and pointed to Rick, Michonne and Carl. It seemed as if the end was near for our beloved stars. They were surrounded. There was no where to run. Things were looking bleak.

Then one of the gunners took a liking to Carl – Rick’s son – and began trying to have his way with the kid.

Yes, that was shocking indeed. These men were ruthless, but what was about to happen to Carl was something no one expected to see on television. Rick couldn’t sit by and allow what was about to happen, to haopen. A struggle ensued and Rick was standing facing one of the attackers. The man was mouthing off to Rick, Carl struggling in the background and Rick had to save his son.

He had no choice. As he stood facing the man with the gun, Rick lunged for the man’s jugular, biting deep into the man’s throat, withdrawing with a mouthful of veins and blood. He then gutted the sicko who was trying to attack Carl.

It was the craziest, most shocking thing I ever saw!

I can’t wait for season 5!

President Obama’s Full Victory Speech on Obamacare – Video

Rest assured. Right now, Republicans are brainstorming, trying to come up with another set of lies talking points to fool the American people into thinking that having healthcare is a bad thing. Today however, President Obama took a victory lap in announcing the end of the end of the enrollment period for healthcare and that the initial goal of 7 million enrollees was reached.

How Many People Signed up for Obamacare So Far? 7,041,000

How many people have signed up for private coverage under Obamacare? 7,041,000, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney announced Tuesday afternoon.

That number is likely to rise: It does not include the Monday sign-ups in the 14 states operating their own marketplaces. In addition, the enrollment deadline was relaxed for people having trouble completing the process, so some people could still sign up in the next two weeks.

The figure does not account for how many people have paid their first premium, formally initiating their coverage. Independent analysts have also estimated that about 9 million people have enrolled directly through their insurer.

John Boehner Is Still Promising to Repeal Obamacare

Relax Americans, the good old folks in the Republican party are working hard on your behalf, and they are promising to do everything they can to take away your health care and to deny you the basic right of having affordable health care.

In a statement issued on his website, House Speaker John Boehner said;

“The president’s health care law continues to wreak havoc on American families, small businesses and our economy, and as I’ve said many times, the problem was never just about the website – it’s the whole law.  Millions of Americans are seeing their premiums rise, not the lower prices the president promised.  Many small businesses are afraid to hire new workers, instead cutting hours and dropping health coverage for existing employees.  Many Americans can no longer see their family doctor, despite the pledge no one would lose access to their physician.  Seniors are feeling the impact, losing their Medicare Advantage plans the president promised they could keep.  And taxpayers are being forced to pick up an unaffordable tab.

“House Republicans will continue to work to repeal this law and protect families and small businesses from its harmful consequences, and that’s why we’re taking action this week to repeal the law’s 30-hour rule that has become a significant barrier to job growth and higher wages.  We will also continue our work to replace this fundamentally-flawed law with patient-centered solutions focused on lowering health care costs and protecting jobs.”

Yes Americans, having access to quality healthcare is apparently not a good thing. You should be allowed to get sick and die if you have no insurance. And for the selected few that have insurance, your policies should be subjected to denial by the insurance companies if they so choose.

You know… freedom! Like it was in the good old days.

Starbucks Serves “Satanic” Beverages, Then Issues an Apology

Not one, but two beverages served to a customer clearly showing symbols associated with satanic cults.

Megan Pinion posted photos of two beverages she bought at a Baton Rouge coffee shop on her Facebook page, one showing a star and another with the number 666 drawn in the foam.

She said the star appeared within the cup’s circular rim as if it were Lucifer’s pentagram, and the three-digit numeral refers to the Antichrist foretold in the Book of Revelations.

Pinion said the star might simply have been in reference to one in the company’s logo, which some say contains occult symbols itself.

A spokesman for Starbucks said the company became aware of Pinion’s complaints, which were shared by about 1,800 people, through the social media service.

“We reached out to her through social media and apologized,” said company spokesman Tom Kuhn. “We’re taking the complaint seriously. We’re not sure who served her or what kind of beverage it was. It looks kind of caramel-ish in the photos.”
