President Obama has Double Digit Lead over Republican Opponents

A new poll shows a double digit lead for president Obama over both Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum.

President Obama leads GOP presidential front-runner Mitt Romney by 10 percent, according to a Suffolk University poll released on Monday.

Obama leads Romney 47 percent to 37 percent, and leads Rick Santorum 49 percent to 37 percent.

surveyed, 39 percent were Democrats, 34 percent were Republicans, and 22 percent were either independent or unaffiliated.

The poll was conducted between March 21 and 25, and has a 3 percent margin of error.

Things I Know – The Health Care Law will be Upheld By the Supreme Court

I know that the Affordable Care Act will be upheld by the Supreme Court.

How do I know this?

Because before it was a good Democratic idea it was a good Republican idea. I’m sure the GOP vetted the law as an alternative to the Clinton health care plan. I’m sure that Mitt Romney and his attorneys vetted their Massachusetts plan before they proposed, passed and signed it. I also know that the Obama Administration is not “rolling the dice” on the law in the months just before the election. They have reasonable, rational motives in doing so because they know that the law, if the court relies on precedent, will be upheld.

I know that the Tim Tebow trade will end up to be a disaster for the Jets, and that the entire nation, Puerto Rico, Guam and American Samoa will enjoy watching the nuclear meltdown that will occur next season.

How do I know this?

The team just signed Mark Sánchez to a contract extension and has now traded for another, more charismatic player who manages to confound the football experts with his unorthodox style and steely determination. The Jets have also said that Tebow will be involved in the offense during the season. What other backup quarterback gets that kind of promise? Answer: A quarterback who will be given every available chance to take the job from the starter. All Mark Sanchez has to do, assuming he keeps his job coming out of training camp, is to throw a couple of interceptions or lead the team to two first half field goals (only) in the season opener, and you can bet that everyone from Billy Graham, Jr. on down to the local church ladies will be calling for his head. And St. Tim will be ready. This won’t be a season; it will be a reality show. As a triumphant Giants fan, I can’t wait.

I know that Mitt Romney will be the Republican nominee for president in 2012. So do you. So does the general media. So does the right wing media. So does Intrade. So do the Vegas odds-makers.

How do I know this?

Mitt is the only rational, reasonable Republican candidate of the bunch. He’s said some gaffey-type things, but most people are either shrugging them off or comparing them to the scary-ee things that Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul are saying. Remember your history lessons. The United States doesn’t elect radicals to the highest office in the land. Of course, the Democrats thought Barry Goldwater was a far right kook and the Republicans thought that Walter Mondale was a socialist, but they were both wrong. Mitt’s a moderate who ran a liberal state in a moderate way and achieved some moderate success in Massachusetts. He’s not a religious zealot and he doesn’t have the anger issues that the other candidates have. Of course, how can you be angry when you make about $20 million dollars per year?

Republicans Again on the Wrong Side of The Contraception Issue.

A vast majority of Americans – up to 77% – agree with President Obama and Democrats on the heavily debated contraception issue. But don’t tell that to the Republicans, as they all gladly hop on the dune buggy and continue digging down deeper in the gutters.

Americans overwhelmingly regard the debate over President Barack Obama’s policy on employer-provided contraceptive coverage as a matter of women’s health, not religious freedom, rejecting Republicans’ rationale for opposing the rule. More than three-quarters say the topic shouldn’t even be a part of the U.S. political debate.

More than six in 10 respondents to a Bloomberg National Poll — including almost 70 percent of women — say the issue involves health care and access to birth control, according to the survey taken March 8-11.

Republicans Hypocrisy On The Contraception Issue

The economy is improving and President Obama’s foreign policy is almost flawless. So what are Republicans to do? They have all decided that social issues – more specifically, women’s health –  will be their ticket to the White House.

Over the last few weeks, Republicans thought they saw an opening in new ways to attack the President when Mr. Obama’s administration began requiring all employers to provide contraception without a co-pay for their employees. The Catholic Church jumped on this issue saying that the president is forcing the Church to go against its teachings in providing contraception to workers. Republicans smell blood, and began attacking the President, calling his requirement an “attack on Religion.”

The President and the Church came to an understanding and an agreement was reached – Churches would be exempt from the requirement, but contraception will still be provided and paid for by the insurance companies. But don’t tell that to the Republicans as they have decided that this would be the decisive issue in the 2012 presidential election, and they have decided to continue this fight.

And listening to their holier than thou attitudes, you will think that no other Republican president or governor has attempted what President Obama tried a few weeks ago. Yea, you will think that, but you will be wrong as even Mitt Romney, the present leading Republican candidate also signed the very same bill into law in Massachusetts.

An Almost Impossible New Low For Congress, And We Have Republicans To Thank

When President Obama became President of the United States, something got triggered in Congressional Republicans. They all decided that this particular president must not succeed. Before Mr. Obama’s moving truck drove up and delivered the Obama’s personal merchandise to the White House, Republicans had already began their game plan – to fight, to argue and to disrespect the office of the President like no other time in this nation’s history.

So they fought and continue to fight. And they set new records for filibusters. And they criticize  President Obama, for everything from the price of gas and oil – that has everything to do with market speculators and nothing to do with the president – to jobs lost in a recession that began primarily because of Corporate greed and the policies of Mr. George Bush.

Yes, the Republican’s game plan was, and is, in full effect. Every time they succeed in stopping a jobs plan, and every time they filibuster tax cuts for businesses, and every time they try to cut American’s rights, or manage to take away benefits that Americans have paid into, Republicans believe that Americans would blame the President.

Well Republicans, your game plan is flawed. Yes, you’ve managed to create an atmosphere in Washington of no coorporation and no compromise, but your expectation that the public would blame the president is not working out the way you planned it.

This new poll shows the disgust Americans are feeling about the job both Democrats and Republicans in Congress are doing.

Only 10 percent said they approved of the way Congress was handling its job, down from 13 percent in January.

The previous all-time low from Gallup was 11 percent in December of 2011.

Congress’s approval rating averaged 17 percent in 2011, peaking at 24 percent in May — it has been slowly declining since.

But don’t expect Republicans to stop now. Don’t expect them to do the job of the American people who sent them to Congress. Republicans would continue pushing against and fighting this particular president because there is something inside them that commands them to do so. And what ever that something is, Congressional Republicans are prepared to go down with the ship if it means Americans might think the president is a failure.

But their game plan is not working. We the people are paying attention…

More Good News For The Economy – Unemployment Rate Falls to 8.3%

News from The Hill: The economy added 243,000 jobs in January, many more than had been expected. The unemployment rate also dropped from 8.5 percent to 8.3 percent.

The job gains are a boost for President Obama, who is hoping a growing economy will make voters happier with his stewardship of the economy and carry him to a second term. Unemployment might be the most important statistic to watch ahead of the presidential race, and it has now dropped from 9 percent since September 2011.

Most observers had been expecting about 150,000 jobs to be created in January, or even fewer. The January report was nearly 100,000 jobs higher, and suggests a strengthening job market.

Gingrich Supporter Says Democrats “Abort Black Babies.”

Did you know that if you’re a Democrat and you just happen to be black, then you customarily abort your babies? What? You didn’t know this? Well have no fear, we have Newt Gingrich and his supporters to educate us on the things black people do.

This bit of ‘Knowledge’ comes from Rick Tyler, the black people expert who just happens to be in charge of a SuperPAC supporting Newt Gingrich.

TYLER: More people are on food stamps today because of Barack Obama, they fail in the schools, you can ask Al Sharpton, the Democrats have failed in the public schools with the African-Americans, they abort their babies, they’ve done nothing to lift them out of poverty.

98 percent of African-Americans vote Democrat, okay? What have they gotten for it? Poor schools, poor neighborhoods, crime-ridden neighborhoods, a destruction of the family, and the Democrats want to abort their babies. That’s their position. I’m not going to defend that.

Now I was about to tear into this imbecile, but then I found this tid-bit; Rick Tyler is a worm of a human being who will someday see his ugly heart strangle him in the mirror. But looking beyond his disgusting words, what really marks him as the liar he is are his ‘statistics’, which had the word “LIE!” stamped across everything spilling from his smarmy little mouth.

Why Are Republicans So Easily Prone To Ethic Violations?

We all know that politics breeds corruption, there’s no two ways about that. And there’s really no exception to the rule, as both Democrats and Republicans have been exposed in the past for their fraudulent deeds.

But why are Republican politicians more overwhelmingly attracted to corruption? Its almost as if Capital Hill is a magnetic field that, once they’re there, Republicans get sucked into the world of insider trading, unscrupulous behavior and greed, with special interests padding their campaign and personal bank accounts. And its all done in the name of The American People!

An increasing number of House Republicans are getting wrapped up in allegations of ethics violations ahead of the November elections, handing Democrats easy campaign fodder and putting the GOP in an unexpected bind.

Republican leaders in the lower chamber pledged to run an ethically sound ship when they took control last year. But as the second session gets under way, nearly a dozen GOP lawmakers are being questions on a wide array of their financial dealings, and House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) has not publicly admonished them.

By next Monday the House Ethics Committee is slated to decide whether to formally investigate Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.). Moreover, allegations arose over this past weekend that Rep. Michael Grimm (R-N.Y.) might have accepted illegal campaign donations, according to The New York Times.

Additionally, there are the three Republicans — Reps. Pete Sessions (Texas), Buck McKeon (Calif.) and Elton Gallegly (Calif.) — who earlier this month were referred to the House Ethics Committee for taking part in Countrywide’s VIP mortgage program, aimed at gaining special favor from lawmakers.

Mitt Romney Baptised and Converted a Dead Man To Mormonism

Apparently, baptizing and converting someone to Mormonism after they’re dead is a sure way to get that person into Heaven. And according to reports, that was exactly what Mitt Romney and his family did to his wife’s father, fourteen months after he died.

Mitt Romney’s militantly atheist father-in-law, was indeed posthumously converted to Mormonism by his family, despite the fact that when he was alive he regarded all religions as “hogwash.”

As we mentioned yesterday, Ann Romney’s Welsh-born father (who Mitt mentioned in last night’s debate to shore up his pro-immigrant bona fides) was an engineer, inventor, and resolute atheist who disdained all organized religion and raised his children accordingly. Davies, his son Roderick told the Boston Globe in 2007, regarded the faithful as “weak in the knees.” But when Mitt began seeing Davies’ daughter Ann, the Romney family launched a concerted effort to convert not only Ann but her entire family to Mormonism. And they were wildly successful: Within a year of meeting Ann, Mitt and his father had converted all three of Edward Davies’ children. Days before she died in 1993, Ann Romney’s mother asked to be converted as well. Edward Davies was the only member of his clan whose soul the Romneys never claimed for their church.

Until he died. According to this entry in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints’ genealogical database, Davies was baptized as a Mormon at a “special family meeting” 14 months after his death: “All ordinances except sealing to spouse performed in Salt Lake Temple on 19 Nov 1993 in special family meeting,” the entry says. (When we previously asked the church whether Davies had been baptized, a spokesperson told us that the information was available only to his family and church members. But it’s apparently right there on the internet for those who know what to look for.)

And now ladies and gentlemen, thanks to Mitt Romney and the Mormon beliefs, Mr. Edward Davies, a man who lived his life as an atheist, is now luxuriating as a Mormen in Heaven.

The Republican Misery – A Gingrich Win… And Democrats Rejoice

A very interesting observation in a New York Times article titled, Five Consequences of Gingrich’s South Carolina Win asked this question;

“If Gingrich wins Florida, the Republican Establishment is going to have a meltdown that makes Three Mile Island look like a marshmallow roast.”

“Why? Because the Establishment will be staring down the barrel of two utterly unpalatable choices. On the one hand, Gingrich’s national favorable-unfavorable ratings of 26.5 and 58.6 percent, respectively make him not just unelectable against Obama but also mean that he would likely be a ten-ton millstone around the necks of down-ballot Republican candidates across the country. And on the other, Romney has shown in two successive contests — one in a bellwether Republican state, the other in a key swing state — an inability to beat his deeply unpopular rival. If this scenario unfolds, the sound of GOP grandees whispering calls for a white knight… will be deafening.”

LOL.

Oh, the utter calamity that these Republicans have somehow found themselves in, and I’m loving every moment of it!

Polling Report: Special South Carolina Edition

What a week this has been for the GOP Pack o’ Presidential Potentials. We started out with Mitt Romney strolling leisurely toward the nomination with a big lead, and today finds the contenders in an absolute dogfight (but will the dog hunt?).

Newt Gingrich’s well-received performance in this week’s debates has given him a new life. Rick Santorum can now claim to have won the Iowa caucuses. Rick Perry is now free to take Texas out of the union if he so desires. And Romney? He’s hit a bit of a rough patch on the way to the nomination, which I still think he’ll win. It just might take a bit longer for him to claim it.

The latest RealClearPolitics polling average, including the latest PPP tracking poll, has Newt surging to the top of the pile, which spells real trouble for Romney. Paul will win his 15%, and despite an endorsement from many conservatives, Rick Santorum will be lucky to approach 15%, as some of his voters move to Newt. With Rick Perry out of the race, the real question is where do his supporters go. Again, I’m thinking Newt.

South Carolina is now critical for Romney. I said after New Hampshire that he could end the whole race with a showing above 40% and could claim inevitability with more than 30% in SC. Now, that’s not necessarily the case. Mitt could get 30% and lose to Gingrich, or only win by 1 or 2 points. That would be a win, but he needs to improve, not regress. If he loses, or loses steam, Florida would be in play. Santorum could drop out, with his voters moving in larger numbers to Newt. Conservatives would be emboldened. Democrats would jump for joy.

My predictions: An Upset Special

Gingrich        36%

Romney        34%

Paul              15%

Santorum      14%

Santorum drops out. The race in Florida tightens. Gingrich and Romney duke it out through Super Tuesday in March. More GOP moderates publicly endorse Romney in order to save the party. Chris Christie gets even more bombastic in his support for Mitt (is that possible? healthy?). Mitt Romney Admits His Tax Rate Is Probably 15 Percent

Ever wonder why Mitt Romney is so hesitant to do the right thing and release his tax returns? Well maybe the reason has something to do with his tax rate – a rate the Republican frontrunner admits is “probably” less than 15%.

Meanwhile, middle class America pays a rate of 38%.

GOP presidential front-runner Mitt Romney on Tuesday said he probably pays a tax rate of about 15 percent.

Romney, who has come under pressure from Republicans and Democrats alike to release his tax forms, said most of his income is in long-term capital gains, which is hit with a 15 percent rate.

“It’s probably closer to the 15 percent rate than anything, because my last 10 years, I’ve — my income comes overwhelmingly from investments made in the past, rather than ordinary income, or rather than earned annual income,” Romney said during a press conference in Florence, S.C. “I get a little bit of income from my book but I gave that all away. And then I get speakers’ fees from time to time but not very much.”
