Pitt Bull Sentenced to Spend The Rest Of Its Life Behind Bars

The Pit bull that mauled a four year old boy back in January, biting and holding on to the boy’s face for several minutes has been sentenced to life behind bars, a Phoenix judge has ruled.

Mickey, a brown-spotted white pit bull who belonged to the boy’s babysitter at the time of the attack, will instead live out his days neutered and defanged in a no-kill animal shelter.

According to the Dodo, the attack occurred when the boy ventured into the sitter’s backyard where Mickey was chained. The dog locked onto the boy’s face for several minutes; the boy required extensive surgeries, but is recovering.

Both the boy’s family and Mickey’s owners were willing to have the dog euthanized, but doctors convinced the judge that “there are a lot of adults responsible” for Mickey’s behavior: Being chained, outside, unneutered, in Phoenix was a recipe for aggression, she concluded, handing down a life sentence instead of destruction.

The assistant Maricopa County manager agreed, telling the Arizona Republic:

If we all, as pet owners, take the time to think about our lifestyle and the type of breed we’re attempting to acquire, then euthanasia will not be a problem for (dogs with) aggression. It’s simply uneducated or uninformed selections of dogs that cause these animals to find themselves in a situation where they … hurt someone.

In an ironic twist, Mickey will serve out his term in a shelter run by controversial Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who will presumably treat the dog better than he treats his human inmates.

Chris Brown Heading Back to Jail

TMZ reports that Brown, who has been serving a court-ordered rehab stint for several months, was kicked out of a Malibu facility this morning for violating “internal rules.” Whatever Brown did, it allegedly did not involve “violence or drugs.” And while sources also tell TMZ that Brown did have “an inappropriate relationship” with a female worker at the beginning of March, the alleged affair also has nothing to do with Friday’s expulsion.

Because getting kicked out of rehab violates the terms set by the judge, Brown was picked up by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies this afternoon and transported to jail.

Jordan Davis’ Dad Wants to Visit Michael Dunn in Prison

Mr Davis said in an interview for Nightline: ‘I would like Michael Dunn to put me on his visitor’s list in prison. I would like to go see him and sit across the table.

‘One thing that I know that we would talk about is, “I have to try to make you understand what you’ve taken away from our family, some way, whether it be words or what, I have to make you understand.”‘

‘We have to make him say that, “you killed Jordan and it was unlawful,”‘ Davis added.

‘Because otherwise if you leave it, then you killed Jordan and it was OK that you killed Jordan.’

He said: ‘This guy had indifference towards my son and killed him and continued to shoot at these boys.

‘A person like Michael Dunn could be so callous as to disregard the life of Jordan Davis. Just threw his life away like it was nothing.

‘You didn’t do what I told you to do, so I’m going to shoot you.’

His mother and father described how their son was the ‘life of the party’ and would strive to include everyone.

It comes after A juror who deliberated on the Florida ‘loud music’ trial has spoken out, saying she believes Michael Dunn should have been convicted of murdering 17-year-old Jordan Davis.

Dunn, 47, was found guilty on several counts of attempted second-degree murder for shooting at other teens in the car with Davis, but the jury was deadlocked on whether or not Dunn murdered Davis or felt he was reacting to a threat.

Jessie Jackson Jr Starts his Prison Sentence

Jessie Jackson Jr. entered a North Carolina prison Tuesday to begin serving a 2 1/2-year term for illegally spending $750,000 in campaign money on everything from cigars to a gold watch – a day after he tried but failed to get into the federal complex.

In an odd twist to Jackson’s long-running legal saga, the 48-year-old former Illinois U.S. representative had sought to enter the Butner Correctional Center Monday but was turned away because of ‘a snafu,’ C.K. Hoffler, an Atlanta-based attorney who had accompanied the Chicago Democrat, told reporters Tuesday evening.

‘He was ready to pay his debt,’ she said during a news conference in Atlanta about why the son of civil rights leader the Reverend Jesse Jackson chose to report days earlier than required.

‘The sooner he reported, the sooner he’d be able to get back home to his children to begin the process of healing.’
Jackson bid farewell to his wife, Sandi, and two children on Sunday, in Washington, D.C., then went to the prison in a heavily wooded area 30 miles north of Raleigh Monday afternoon.

Teen Cheerleader Gets Three Years in Prison for Pimping Her Mentally-Disabled Friend

Montia Parker, an 18-year old former cheerleader captain at a Minneapolis high school, has been sentenced to 3 years in prison for “pimping out” a younger team mate to generate extra income for herself. Even worse, her 16-year old victim has a learning disability.

Apparently, Parker put up several online ads promoting the girl for sexual services, and even drove her to some of her customers. From one job, the girl performed oral sex for one of her customers, made $60 from the job, and was forced to turn all the money over to Parker.

The victim’s family urged the judge to give Parker the harshest punishment possible. The family says the girl has since isolated herself from others, changed schools, and has lost interest in cheerleading.

In addition to her 3-year sentence, Parker will also be registered as a sex offender and will appear in all nationwide databases.

Lauryn Hill Released from Prison

DANBURY, Conn. (AP) — Grammy-winning singer Lauryn Hill was released from federal prison Friday and will spend three months under home confinement under terms of her guilty plea to failing to pay taxes.

Hill’s attorney, Nathan Hochman, said the former Fugees singer left the prison in Danbury, Conn., on Friday. She was sentenced in July to serve three months in prison.

“Ms. Hill was released today from federal prison after serving her sentence,” Hochman said in an email. “She was released several days early based on a number of factors the Bureau of Prisons takes into consideration, including good behavior. She will now start today a one-year period of probation with three months of home confinement during that year.”

Hill, who started singing with the Fugees as a teenager in the 1990s before releasing her multiplatinum 1998 album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” pleaded guilty last year in New Jersey to failing to pay taxes on more than $1.8 million earned from 2005 to 2007.

Jesse Jackson Jr. Could Spend Up to 4 Years in Jail

Politico is reporting that the Federal prosecutors are seeking a four-year prison sentence for former Illinois Democratic Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., who has pleaded guilty to illegally diverting hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign funds to personal use.

Under the Justice Department recommendations, Jackson would have to forfeit the $750,000 he stole from his campaign, and pay back another $750,000 to his reelection committee. Prosecutors are asking that someone not related to Jackson be appointed to run the campaign, which would then be “wound down.”

Jackson, the son of well-known civil rights advocate Rev. Jesse Jackson, is scheduled to be sentenced early next month.

In a break for Jackson and his wife — former Chicago Alderman Sandi Jackson, who also pleaded guilty in the case — prosecutors have requested that their prison sentences be staggered so that both aren’t in prison at the same time. Sandi Jackson faces up to 18 months in federal prison as part of the couple’s illegal scheme. The couple have two young children.

Once a rising star in Democratic politics, the 48-year-old Jackson pleaded guilty in February to using more than $750,000 from his campaign to cover a stunning range of personal expenses in thousands of transactions, including including home renovations, furniture, school tuition, groceries, a $43,000 Rolex watch, fur coats and memorabilia associated with Michael Jackson, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X and Bruce Lee.

Lauryn Hill Headed To Prison For Tax Evasion

Despite paying over $900,000 in back taxes, a judge today found the entertainer guilty of tax evasion and ordered her to prison. Hill’s sentencing could be as much as three months.

“I am a child of former slaves who had a system imposed on them,” Lauryn told  U.S. Magistrate Madeline Cox Arleo. “I had an economic system imposed on me.”

Hill, who earned about $2.3 million between 2005 and 2009, failed to pay the appropriate taxes on those earnings. She repaid up to $900,000 in recent days, but still owes interests and fees on the original amount.

Hill stated that greed in the music industry caused her to leave the industry to protect her family.

There were veiled threats, there was blacklisting. I was told, ‘That’s how it goes, it comes with the territory.’ I came to be perceived as a cash cow and not a person. When people capitalize on a persona, they forget there is a person in there.”

Yahoo reports that Hill will still pay $60,000 in fees after serving her 3 months in jail. After she is released, she would also spend her first three months under home confinement, followed by nine months of supervised parole.

Gang Leader Impregnates 4 Prison Guards

Four female correction officers were impregnated by the reported leader of a Maryland prison gang, which used a network of female prison guards to help launder money, run drugs and smuggle contraband into state detention facilities, according to a federal indictment.

One of the guards was twice impregnated by Tavon White, identified in court papers as the alleged leader of the Black Guerilla Family.

Two of the female correction officers tattooed “Tavon” on their bodies, one on her neck and another on the wrist, according to the indictment.

In one incident, one guard kept watch over a closet, in which White and another guard had sex, according to authorities.

Thirteen female and two male prison guards are facing federal corruption charges following a months long investigation into corruption and conspiracy at Maryland’s correctional facilities.

The indictment portrays a prison system run by inmates, including members of the Black Guerilla Family gang.

Man Receives $13 Million For Wrongly Spending 13 Years In Jail

Can you even imagine going to jail after being wrongly convicted for something you didn’t do? And then spending 13 long years locked up behind bars while life passes you by… all for something you didn’t do?

Well that is the story of David Ayers of Cleveland Ohio, who in 1999 was convicted of killing 76 year old Dorothy Brown. Brown was found in her Cleveland apartment naked from the waist down, bludgeoned to death.

After spending 13 years in jail, DNA testing done on a pubic hair found in Dorothy Brown’s mouth proved to be from someone other than Ayers. He was released in 2011.

The jury’s verdict on Friday awarded $13.2 million to David Ayers for his pain and suffering.
