How To Get Media Into iTunes Faster [OS X Tips]

I’m all for getting my stuff into iTunes more efficiently, aren’t you? Jordan Merrick is, too, and he’s come up with a brilliant way to do just that. He’s also got a great site full of clever tips there as well. Really, go check it out.

The default way, says Merrick, for media to get to iTunes is like this: drag and drop a folder full of music or a video you’ve converted from DVD to iTunes. iTunes takes said media, copies it, and places it into its own special folder structure.

What happens in this case is that you’re left holding two copies of that album or video — one in your iTunes folder and one wherever you pulled it from. That’s kind of silly, if you ask me, especially if you back up regularly. No one needs two copies of anything on their hard drive.

Luckily, there’s a cool folder in your iTunes folder that lets you add stuff directly to iTunes. Sadly, it’s pretty buried, but Merrick will show you a better way.

Open up the Finder, he says, and navigate to the Music folder in your Home folder. Open the iTunes folder, then the iTunes Media folder. You’ll see an folder called Automatically Add to iTunes. Drag this folder over to the sidebar in the Finder for easy access.

Now, every time you want to put music or video into iTunes, simply drag it over to the sidebar and into the Automatically Add to iTunes folder you’ve placed there. iTunes will then add it to its own system.

If it’s not a file that iTunes can handle, the app will place a folder called Not Added into the Automatically Add to iTunes folder that can clean out later.

I Am Not A Human Being II

I Am Not A Human Being II (IANAHB2) is the tenth album from the rapper Lil Wayne and was released this past Tuesday, March 26th, 2013. Thankfully through the wonders of iTunes I got myself a copy and have run through every track on there, which is a first for me regarding any Lil Wayne album.

A little background information first, I am not a big fan of Lil Wayne or any Young Money rapper, or even am I a big fan of any rap music in general. I do admit to having rap on my Ipod and it is enjoyable to listen to while driving at night, so I decided to give this album a try.

IANAHB 2 seems to be lost between Weezy’s past albums and what you’d find off his mixtapes. Throughout the album you find songs that seem to be experimental and stray from what you’re use to from Lil Wayne (“Hello”  in particular is nothing what I would have expected), leftovers from previous albums (A remade “Hot Revolver” is on here), but also the same in your face, drug crazed, gangster loving Lil Wayne the world has gotten from his previous albums. The most memorable song on here is probably the most pleasant surprise (God Bless America) as it holds a lot deeper of a meaning I’ve ever heard come from Lil Wayne before.

Overall this isn’t Lil Wayne in his finest form, which is something you can expect from an album that doesn’t have the word “Carter” in it. While the songs seem to be off from what we’re use to from Lil Wayne along with some of his older songs recycled into here, it’s still something you’ll want to at least give it a listen to. As for me, I’ll be adding more rap music on my iTunes library and patiently waiting for “Tha Carter V”.

“Shinin’ Star For You To See…” Introducing SongBooth Music App from iTunes

The creation of SongBooth – an app available from iTunes – by entrepreneur Gregory Lowe II, CEO of LoweKey Media, is taking the “star search” industry to a whole ‘nother level!  The app will enable the budding musician to either upload a pre-recorded music video or record a live performance with their iPhone, edit, then share it locally or internationally via social networks like Facebook, SMS, email and eventually Twitter.

Can it get any better!? Hell yaah! – Lowe  will soon announce an opportunity for all you musical diamonds-in-the-roughs to compete in, what will be literally, a virtual world-wide competition in March of this year that could net you a single’s deal with Sony Records. Dubbed Project SongBooth, the contest will calculate a winner based on the amount of  “likes” an entry receives, including thumbs up from new music heavy-hitters, ”The Thrill’ Miguel (RCA Records) and teen heartthrob Ryan Beatty (OcSkee Entertainment) – both of whom were discovered through online social media themselves. The two will preside as judges for the contest as well as Chuck Creekmore, CEO of allhiphop.com. Stay tuned for my updates on the competition here at ezkool.com.

The SongBooth app, which is absolutely free! is relatively easy to maneuver around in. The videos run virtually buffer free and the app’s operational board consists of a six button application. The set-up screen for SongBooth is visually exciting, complete with a brushed nickel, retro recording mic.  A “follow” button is included, allowing you to build up a fan base, who’ll support you now…and later recall – with pride – that they knew you when you sang for your supper, riding back and forth on the no. 7 train from Queens to Grand Central station.

Go Get It!  http://www.songbooth.com/
