Believe it or not, but I’ve moved past the false claim by many that Apple products are immune from virus attacks. That claim just isn’t true, but like I said, I’ve more on.
Yes, viruses do attack Apple products, but at least the company is finally doing something about it.
Apple today removed more than 250 apps from its App Store that were using software from a Chinese advertising company that secretly accessed and stored users’ personal information. The firm, called Youmi, provided app makers with a software development kit that would glean which apps a user had downloaded, that user’s email address, and the serial numbers of their smartphone, according to mobile security company SourceDNA. The apps in total received 1 million downloads.
If you’re a fan of Apple, mark September 10 on your calendar. That’s when the company is reportedly unveiling the next iPhone.
According to All Things D, Apple is hosting an event next month where the company is expected to reveal its latest smartphone.
Naturally, the weeks leading up to the reported reveal have been filled with countless rumors on what consumers can expect from the next iPhone. Rumors range from a lower-cost model to appeal to more consumers to a device equipped with a fingerprint sensor.
The reported event arrives as Apple continues to cede ground to several strong competitors, most notably Samsung and its Galaxy S series as well as the army of devices running Google’s Android operating system. According to IDC, nearly 80% of the smartphones shipped last quarter ran on Android.
However, the introduction of a new iPhone could spark an Apple rebound. “With a new iPhone and revamped iOS coming out later this year, Apple is well-positioned to re-capture market share,” says IDC research manager Ramon Llamas.
Readers, what features would you like to see in the next iPhone?
If you own an iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S, a free iPhone 5 is just a car ride away for the next week.
On June 1, Best Buy offered a one-day deal: bring in your old iPhone 4 or 4s and trade it for a brand new iPhone 5. The offer was so successful, that the retailer has decided to give it another, longer run.
For the next nine days, you will be able to bring in those iPhone models and trade them in for the newest Apple phone. The offer ends Saturday, June 29.
This is a fast paced game, so all you slackers better keep it moving. This is not the game for you. For all the other real gamers looking for a challenge, download this free game on your Android or Apple product, and be prepared for the ride of your life.
Storyline
You begin the game as Jake, a graffiti artist caught spray painting his art in a train yard. Of course, he is caught by a cop and his dog and then the game starts, as Jake runs for his life to get away from the officer. As Jake makes his escape, he picks up coins, mystery boxes and other powerups along the way. He must also dodge oncoming trains and other obstacles and barriers, placed strategically in his way.
As you collect more coins, you can buy more players, hoverboards or mystery boxes. There are also daily challenges you must complete to advance in the game.
But the real object of the game is to brag. Yes, brag. When you connect Subway Surfers to your Facebook account, you get to see the progress your Facebook friends are making. And there is nothing like competing against a friend who think they can play better than you.
Subway Surfers is not a new game, but there is always updates from the game’s producers. If you haven’t downloaded this game yet, then you’re really not a true gamer.
So, you haven’t bought into the Candy Crush Saga craze yet, have you? Well, maybe you should because this match-3 game is seriously addictive, just like candy!
It is unlike any other match-3 game I have ever played and surpasses the likes of Bejeweled and others of its kind. The king.com creators of this game has made a unique twist out of a simple concept that leaves your sweet tooth wanting more.
Yes, you do have to match-3, but it doesn’t end there. You have to match 4 and up to get special booster candies and then you can combine those booster candies to make big happenings in order to beat the game levels and move on up the candy ladder.
But of course, it can never just be so easy. As you get higher up in the ranks, the challenges become more involved with layers of jellies, gates, and blobs of chocolates getting in the way. I swear those chocolates drive me crazy. Some levels you have to fill out orders, recipes, combos, clear the board of jellies, and/or achieve a target score.
This game can be really difficult and challenging to the point where there will be times when you just want to pull your hair out and give up, but you won’t because no way you’re going to let some sweet treats beat you down like that.
There’s also a social aspect to the game where you can connect your Candy Crush to Facebook. I highly recommend doing this because Facebook saves your progress which is helpful in case you ever have to reinstall your game or need to play the game on somewhere other than your original device. You also need your Facebook friends to send you extra lives and tickets. Tickets are needed to move forward to the next episodes.
The one big negative about this game though is they want you to pay for extra features such as more lives, moves, boosters, etc.
I paid $0.99 one time for extra lives. Never again.
Now, I know how to get unlimited lives and the Facebook integration comes in handy for that tip. So, you can definitely beat the game without buying any extras if you keep at it and learn the ins and outs of making a successful Sugar Crush level completion.
Right now, I’m on Level 169 and it’s kicking my butt hard-core. I’ve been stuck on this level for 2 weeks and it’s driving me crazy, but I will not give up. I most beat those chocolates!!
You can download and play Candy Crush Saga on any Android or iPhone device by use of Google Play or the Apple App Store or you can play it on Facebook.
Candy Crush is a deliciously sweet addictive game that you must give a try.

Citing sources inside Apple’s Cupertino headquarters, a recent story in the New York Timesconfirmed Apple is working on a wristwatch made of curved glass. Sources were familiar with the company’s explorations, but spoke on the condition of not being named because they’re not allowed to speak publicly on unreleased products.
Two sources said that the watch would operate on Apple’s iOS platform and would distinguish itself from the competition due to the company’s knowledge about the curved glass that will be used.
The Times spoke with Pete Bocko, the chief technology officer for Corning Glass Technologies. Corning manufactures the highly durable Gorilla Glass used in iPhones. Last year, the company announced it had created Willow Glass, bendable glass as floppy as a piece of paper.
“You can certainly make it wrap around a cylindrical object and that could be someone’s wrist,” Bocko told the Times. “Right now, if I tried to make something that looked like a watch, that could be done using this flexible glass.”
Still, mum’s the word over at Apple, but speculation seems to be tilting towards the more reliable side of things. As for when we could see these smart watches on wrists everywhere — that’s anybody’s guess.
“Over the long term, wearable computing is inevitable for Apple; devices are diversifying and the human body is a rich canvas for the computer,” Sarah Rotman Epps, a Forrester analyst who specializes in wearable computing, told the Times. “But I’m not sure how close we are to a new piece of Apple hardware that is worn on the body.”
I and many others are under the impression that an iWatch would essentially be a smartphone for your wrist, which would certainly bring out the James Bond in all of us, as Nick Bilton pointed out in his story for the Times. What I’m really holding out for is that putting on an iWatch would be similar to cuffing yourself with one of those snap bracelets that were popular back in the 1980s.

A woman says the battery in her iPhone suddenly overheated this week, oozing a dark liquid and destroying the phone. Apple, however, is refusing to replace the phone, according to its owner, Shibani Bhujle, a marketing manager in New York.
It’s not the first report of iPhone batteries overheating, though the incidents appear to be rare and have also affected other cellphones. In 2011, an iPhone 4 turned red hot and began emitting dense smoke in the cabin of a commercial flight in Australia; no one was injured. Last year, Samsung said it would investigate a reportof its Galaxy S III bursting into flames in Ireland. And also last year, a Motorola Droid Bionic was said to have caught fire in its owner’s pants.
In Bhujle’s case, her iPhone 4S was sitting on her coffee table on Monday, Jan. 28, when the phone’s display unexpectedly turned on and then off. “Within a minute, there was a very strong smell—it smelled like something was burning,” she told Quartz in an interview today. “I picked up my phone and it was very, very hot. It wouldn’t turn on. In the following minute. I couldn’t hold it because it was too hot to touch. I was panicking. I expected it to explode or something.”
Word on the street is that this new iPhone killer from Black Berry will be released early February 2013. The Blackberry z10, packed with features never before seen on any previous Blackberry device, will feature a 4.2-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 768, 16GB of memory and according to the cases we saw at CES and its FCC filing, a microSD card slot for expanded storage space, two cameras, NFC support, Bluetooth and access to 4G. It’ll also have an 1,800 mAh battery to keep it powered.
I know… You bought that phone and you think you have the right to do whatever you want to do with it, right? Wrong. Starting today, January 26th, unlocking your cell phone without permission from the carrier is illegal.
The new law, which applies to devices purchased after today, came about in October when the Library of Congress’ Register of Copyrights, which determines exemptions to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), ruled that unlocking cellphones and tablets without carrier permission should be illegal.
In its decision (PDF), the Copyright Office said there is now “a wide array of unlocked phone options available to consumers,” so reversing the unlocking policy would not have an adverse effect. At the time of the ruling, the Copyright Office provided a 90-day grace period, which ends tomorrow.
Unlocking a cellphone usually requires entering a code or using some third-party service to remove restrictions on a phone that lock it down to a specific carrier.
Once unlocked, you can use a handset with any compatible network.
