Breaking News – Senate Republicans Blocked Veterans Health Care

Of course this is not Breaking News, we’ve seen stuff like this happening all the time with these Republicans! Republicans have gunned for our veterans and anyone who does not have a LLC following their name. This week however, they blocked a veterans health bill because they claimed the needed a way to pay for it.

This latest Republican action against the veterans got Jon Stewart steamed… and confused!

Stewart pointed out many of these senators didn’t have a problem voting for Iraq War authorizations that cost quite a bit of money, but what really set him off was senators trying to attach an Iran sanctions amendment to the bill, with one complaining it’s the only way to get what they want. Stewart mockingly said, “You’re right, you’re the victim here, you’ve been denied something you need by an impersonal bureaucracy.”

He concluded by saying that on the “shame-ometer,” “I think these senators may have just tweeted out a picture of their enormous balls. Now can we kick them out?!”

Republicans Promising To Block Any New Gun Laws

Twenty young kids were gunned down in Newtown Connecticut last December. That’s in addition to the thousands who are killed each year from gun violence. But is all that enough to appeal to the cold hearted nature of the Republicans?
Not even close. Congressional Republicans are promising to block any attempt by Democrats to implement sensible gun laws.

Sens. Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Mike Lee are threatening to filibuster gun-control legislation, according to a letter they plan to hand-deliver to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s office on Tuesday.

“We will oppose the motion to proceed to any legislation that will serve as a vehicle for any additional gun restrictions,” the three conservatives wrote in a copy of the signed letter obtained by POLITICO.

Reid plans to bring up a gun-control measure that focuses on broadening background checks and cracking down on interstate gun-trafficking after the current Senate recess.

Conservatives are concerned that once that bill reaches the floor, amendments could stiffen restrictions on gun control.

These people are sole subsidiary of the NRA.

Republicans Block Transparency in Political Ads

The opponents of a new rule to post political ad information online have opened up another front in a long-running fight, inserting language into an appropriations bill that would bar the Federal Communications Commission from implementing the transparency measure.

The FCC voted in April to require television stations to put detailed data on political ad purchases online. The information, which includes who buys ads, for how much, and when they run, is currently open to the public but is available only on paper at individual stations. Media companies have lobbied hard against the rule, and the National Association of Broadcasters recently sued in federal court to stop it. The rule is currently under review by the government and will not go into effect until July at the earliest.

Rep. Jo Ann Emerson, R-Mo., chair of the financial services and general government subcommittee of the House appropriations committee, added language to an appropriations bill ordering that no funds to be used to implement the disclosure rule. The bill, which passed the subcommittee Wednesday, funds the FCC and other agencies for fiscal year 2013.

The move by Emerson adds another question mark to the process of creating an FCC website with political ad data. At a subcommittee hearing Wednesday, a Democratic amendment to remove the Emerson language was defeated on a party line vote.

Biden Tries to Save The Violence Against Women Act from GOP Block Party

Vice-President Joe Biden will Wednesday lead a Democrat push to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act, the 1994 legislation that now faces opposition from some conservatives.

Biden will be joined by Attorney General Eric Holder, Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett, White House Advisor on Violence Against Women Lynn Rosenthal and Sharon Love, mother of Yeardley Love and founder of the One Love Foundation, to talk about the need to reauthorize the law.

The New York Times has reported that the law would expand financing for and broaden the reach of domestic violence programs.

However, it said some Republicans say the measure unnecessarily expands immigration avenues by creating new definitions for immigrant victims to claim battery, and also dilutes the focus on domestic violence by expanding protections to new groups, like same-sex couples.

Elections Herman Cain Republican United States

For All You Herman Cain Naysayers…

For those of you who think Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain has no official campaigning platform or staff for that matter and that he’s running for President in 2012 purely for the fame and fortune such notoriety will bring him…think again.

With the assist of his  own campaign strategist and chief of staff,  Mark Block, Cain has concocted this creeeeeepy video in which a smarmy faced Block rants on about Cain’s  electability points ( also giving viewers a great view of his smoked stained teeth – now that’s a real American, y’know, like the Marlboro Man!)  And after the usual rhetoric of  …”we can take this country back!”, the camera then pans in close to  Mr. Block’s face where he takes a drag from a cigarette and blows a puff of smoke into the camera. The real clenceher  is at the end when the Man Of The Hour assures us with that knowing look and enigmatic smile, that he’s Herman Cain, and he approves of this message.
