Tracy Morgan in Critical Condition After Fatal Auto Accident

Actor and comedian Tracy Morgan and two members of his entourage remain in critical condition Sunday after after the limousine bus he was riding in was involved in a multi-vehicle accident on the New Jersey Turnpike Saturday that left one dead.

The vehicle carrying the former Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock cast member and six others was involved in a six-vehicle accident in the northbound lanes of the turnpike near mile marker 71.5, near Cranbury Township, at about 1 a.m. ET Saturday, Sgt. First Class Greg Williams told The Associated Press.

Morgan was in intensive care at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey, a hospital spokesperson said Saturday.

Morgan’s family was with him at the hospital on Saturday, according to the actor’s representative. “His family is now with him and he is receiving excellent care,” Lewis Kay said in a statement. “We don’t anticipate much of a change in his condition today, but will provide a further update once more information becomes available.”

Driver Hits Cyclist While Texting – Tells Police, “I just don’t care!”

Photo: Sceeen shot

And you thought lack of human decency was exclusive to some here in America.

Welcome to Australia,  where a 21 year old driver, busy sending over 40 text messages, somehow found a cyclist and unintentionally introduced her car to the man. The driver drove for another 100 yards,  found parking for her now damaged car and then, called for help.

The cyclist suffered a spinal fracture which required surgery and placement in a spinal cage at Melbourne’s Austin Hospital. He was originally told he could be left a paraplegic and spent three months recovering.

She was fined $4500 for the hit, but it’s what she told the officers two days after the accident that’s making news.

According to reports, the woman is upset, not because the texting distracted her and caused the accident, but because the cyclist somehow damaged her car.

“I just don’t care,” she told the police. “Because I’ve already been through a lot of bullshit and my car is like pretty expensive and now I have to fix it.

“I’m kind of pissed off that the cyclist has hit the side of my car. I don’t agree that people texting and driving could hit a cyclist. I wasn’t on my phone when I hit the cyclist.”

Some people shouldn’t be allowed to drive.

George Michael In Car Accident – Minor Cuts and Bruises

George Michael, 49, is being treated for ‘minor cuts and bruises’ sustained from a car accident inside a Range Rover on a motorway outside of London Thursday night.

A publicist for George Michael stated,

George Michael was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a traffic accident
yesterday evening. No third party was involved. We have no further comment at this time

It is still unclear whether George Michael himself or the driver of the vehicle in question was airlifted from the scene and taken to a hospital for further treatment.

An ambulance rep gave the following:

The man who we believe to be in his 40s sustained a head injury and following treatment, stabilization and immobilization by land and air ambulance crews, he was flown to hospital for further care.

The “Faith” singer has been involved in a few accidents in the past where he spent time in jail, and even had a major health scare where he lost consciousness from a deathly bout of pneumonia in 2011.

Thankfully, this time his accident was nothing too serious and he was the passenger and not a driver under the influence again.

And well, since this article is about George Michael (one of my favorite singers of all-time), it gives me the perfect excuse to play one of his tunes.

So, here is some classic “Careless Whisper” for your listening pleasure…

Injuries At Daytona As Car Parts Flew Into Stands

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — At least 28 people were injured in a crash at the end of a Nascar race at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday afternoon, bringing the issue of safety at racetracks back to the forefront on the eve of Sunday’s season-opening showcase, the Daytona 500.

Byron Cogdell, a spokesman at Halifax Medical Center, confirmed that seven people were being treated there for injuries caused by debris that flew into the stands, with two of them in critical condition, including one child.

Cogdell also said the Halifax Health Port Orange Medical Center was treating six more of the injured, with those in stable condition. Another was being treated at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach.

The Daytona International Speedway president, Joie Chitwood, said 14 people were transported to various hospitals, with another 14 treated at an infield care center at the track.

The injuries occurred after a 12-car crash as the field approached the checkered flag at the end of a Nationwide Series race won by Tony Stewart. The No. 32 car driven by the rookie Kyle Larson went airborne in the wreck and hit the catch-fence that surrounds the track and is designed to protect fans. The entire front end of Larson’s racecar was sheared off and debris from the car, including two tires, flew into the stands. The engine wound up in a hole in the catch-fence.
