The owner got the dreaded call from his security company that someone had broken into his store. No one was there and the store was supposedly closed and locked. But because of a failure in the security system, the door remained unlocked with the lights on and the four teenagers just walked in.
After walking around the store calling out for the store clerk and finding none, the four teens walked to the unattended counter and left payment for the items they were shopping for.
Imagine the surprise when the store owner got to the store and found everything intact, and a completed sale. Just goes to show you that not all black teens are criminals. Unlike the thinking of some these days.
A man was clinging to life Thursday after leaping in front of a No. 7 train at the Times Square station, officials said.
Police say the unidentified man, believed to be in his 30s, hurled himself in front of the southbound train as it entered the station on Seventh Ave. and 42nd St. about 9:45 a.m.
Paramedics rushed the man to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition, officials said.
An MTA spokesman said service on the No. 7 line was suspended between the Hunters Point station and Times Square for an hour and a half after the attempted suicide.
This week, a picture surfaced of George Zimmerman at a gun factory in Texas which definitely put salt on the wound for Trayvon Martin supporters.
It turns out some people in Zimmerman’s camp are not as pleased with the picture as we might like to think either.
According to Reuters, a spokesperson for Zimmerman’s lawyer has said of the picture:
“We understand how George visiting the factory that produces the gun used to shoot Trayvon Martin is seen as inappropriate.”
The picture was first posted by TMZ, in which tons of Trayvon Martin supporters were riled up even more to find that Zimmerman was not only coming out of hiding, but trying to purchase a gun.
Do you guys think Zimmerman should be able to buy a gun?
Josue Pierre-Louis
A Brooklyn man suing the NYPD claims he was unjustly arrested by a jealous police officer who failed to match his sexiness. Josue Pierre-Louis, 24, was driving to a friend’s house on Feb. 27th when he was stopped by officers at the corner of Rockaway and Belmont Avenues in Brownsville. As he was about to give his license and registration to Detective Frank Sarrica, Pierre-Louis says an unknown woman walking by made “a cat-like, hissing sound.” It seems the woman found him sexy enough to catcall him, but Pierre-Louis believes the cop was jealous and took it out on him.

WASHINGTON — Three days after an alleged, large-scale chemical-weapons attack in Syria, President Obama spent much of today meeting with his highest-level national-security and intelligence advisers, grappling with what to do if Syria has crossed the “red line” of chemical-weapons use.
The U.S. intelligence community is still gathering evidence about Wednesday’s attack in a suburb of Damascus that sent thousands to hospitals and left hundreds reported dead, the White House said.

Good Morning America – NYC Engineer Wants to Help Homeless Man With Software Coding Classes (ABC News)
Patrick McConlogue is a lot like the many others working in the New York tech scene. Every morning, he walks to work, passing a few homeless people on the streets, and then spends the rest of his day at a computer, writing software code for a 35-person startup.
But the 23-year-old engineer didn’t think those two parts of his day had to stay separate. Earlier this week, he made an offer to one of those homeless men.
“I walk by a homeless guy every day on the way to work and I get this feeling every day that he is a smart guy — he has books and he writes,” McConlogue told ABC News. “I was trying to think of a way to engage him and help him.”
McConlogue approached Leo, a 36-year man who lives on the streets of lower Manhattan, on Thursday and gave him two options.
The first was $100 in cash.
“I figured that was enough for a ticket some place or a few meals, if that’s what he wanted,” McConlogue said.
The second option on the table was a laptop, three JavaScript books and two months of coding instruction from McConlogue.
After hearing the offer, Leo, who McConlogue described as very articulate and gifted, especially in on the topic of environmental issues, decided to take the coding option.
“I want to spread knowledge and information about climate change and global warming,” Leo told ABC News in a phone interview facilitated by McConlogue.
Soon, McConlogue will deliver him a Samsung Chromebook with 3G connectivity, three JavaScript books, a solar charger for the laptop and something to conceal the laptop in. He will spend an hour before work every morning teaching him the basics of software coding.
McConlogue began documenting his plans to help Leo on the blogging platform Medium earlier this week and has seen a mix of reactions.
Thessalonika Arzu-Embry and her mother, Wonder Embry, get up at 5 in the morning most weekdays to go to school together.
Unlike most 14-year-olds, however, Thessalonika isn’t off early in the morning to the local high school. She’s going to Chicago State University.
Thessalonika is putting the finishing touches on a college career that started three years ago at College of Lake County and will end next month with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Chicago State.

The first full day of a dream vacation turned into midtown mayhem for a British tourist Tuesday when a cabbie who had been arguing with a bicyclist lost control of the taxi and mowed her down on a sidewalk — severing her left foot.
Siân Green, 23, arrived in New York Monday night with one of her best friends for a trip they had anticipated with excitement on Instagram. The next day, they bought hot dogs at Sixth Ave. and 50th St. about 11:20 a.m. in the sun-drenched city. Green and her friend, Keshia Warren, were sitting on the ledge of a fountain in a crowded plaza on the avenue.
They were chowing down on the hot dogs when the yellow cab jumped the curb at 49th St. and plowed into Green, sending her flying and springing several good Samaritans into action. Among the heroes were a food vendor, a plumber and television’s Dr. Oz.
David Justino, a plumber who had been working in the area, stripped off his Carhartt tool belt and used it as a tourniquet. His quick thinking may have saved Green’s life.
“The real hero of the day is plumber Dave, just an average Joe, an average Dave, just walking along the street, but he saved her life,” said Dr. Mehmet Oz, whose T-shirt and jeans were spattered with blood. “It’s very smart thinking. A simple thing like a union plumber’s belt can save your life.”
Justino said he was awed by the composure of the victim, calling her “a strong girl, a brave girl.”
Police say three bored teens killed an Australian man attending school in the U.S. for “the fun of it.”
Authorities prepared to charge the teens Tuesday with first-degree murder, while family and friends on two continents mourned 22-year-old Christopher Lane.
Lane was visiting the town where his girlfriend and her family live. He passed a home where the boys were staying, and that apparently led to him being gunned down at random, Police Chief Danny Ford said.
A 17-year-old in the group has given a detailed confession to police.
“They saw Christopher go by, and one of them said: ‘There’s our target,“’ Ford said. “The boy who has talked to us said, ‘We were bored and didn’t have anything to do, so we decided to kill somebody.“’
He said they followed Lane, a student from Melbourne attending college on a baseball scholarship, in a car and shot him in the back before driving off.
Autopsy results on Lane were pending.
Ford told the television station KOCO in Oklahoma City that one of the teens said they shot Lane for “the fun of it.”
Police said witnesses rushed to help Lane after hearing a shot Friday and seeing him stagger and collapse.
“He was face down on the ground, and he was shot in the back with a .22 revolver,” Richard Rhodes told Australian broadcasters. “I had another lady stop, and we tried CPR on him. And he passed away right here.”
