Samuel L. Jackson Eviscerates Reporter Who Mistakes Him For Laurence Fishburne: Video

Sam Rubin won’t be picking a fight with Nick Fury anytime soon. The seasoned entertainment reporter for KTLA caused actor Samuel L. Jackson to fly into a rage on Monday, Feb. 10 when he confused him with Matrix star Laurence Fishburne.

“Working for Marvel, the Super Bowl commercial, did you get a lot of reaction to that Super Bowl commercial?” Rubin asked Jackson.

“What Super Bowl commercial?” Jackson replied.

After a moment of awkward silence, Rubin realized his mistake before Jackson erupted, “See, you’re as crazy as the people on Twitter. I’m not Laurence Fishburne! We don’t all look alike! We may be all black and famous, but we don’t look alike.”

Fishburne appeared in a buzzed-about Kia ad where he reprised his iconic role as Morpheus from The Matrix. And Jackson was immediately upset by the mix up.

“You’re the entertainment reporter?! And you don’t know the difference between me and Laurence Fishburne? There must be a very short line for your job,” he continued as Rubin attempted to turn the conversation back to Jackson’s RoboCop remake. “I’m the ‘What’s in your wallet’ black guy. And I’ve actually never done a McDonalds or a Kentucky Fried Chicken commercial. I know that’s surprising.”

Rubin tried to laugh off what he called the “well-deserved spanking,” but later acknowledged, “That is a tape now that I believe is going to have a life all of its own.”

The longtime reporter issued an official apology via KTLA, but it’s unclear as to whether Rubin is actually owning up to his faux pas.

“I indicated to Samuel that I’d seen him during the Super Bowl, and he thought that I had confused him with the commercial Laurence Fishburne had done for a car company,” Rubin said. “Of course a Captain America ad had also run during the Super Bowl, but I immediately felt so dumb, I didn’t bring that up — and he gave me the shellacking that was well deserved.”

The Walking Dead – Finding The Real Michonne

After months of anticipation, The Walking Dead season 4 returned with a special emphasis on Michonne

The show began where it left off last season at the prison,  now inhabited by walkers due to the governor and his followers’ failed attempt to be the new occupants. The Governor you will remember,  lost his life in that attempt and Rick and his people were scattered, trying to escape the fighting and the zombies invasion.

The show opened with Michonne returning to the prison grounds where Hershel was decapitated. She paid her last respects to the fatherly figure’s zombified head and was on her way, resorting back to using two hand less, mouth less zombies as her protection.

Meanwhile, Rick and his son Carl are having some parent/child issues.

Almost beaten to death by the governor in the last episode, Rick struggled to keep up with Carl and at times, tried to put his one good foot down. But Carl apparently lost respect for his father and questioned Rick’s leadership style. An explosive scene showed Rick, unconscious on the couch of a home the pair settled into, with Carl unleashing a verbal assault on his father.

We get to see a different side to Michonne. Usually the callous,  unabashed zombie killer who always rejected emotional contact, part of Michonne’s past was revealed to the audience in a dream. We saw her as a happy mother and “lover,” living her carefree life despite the apparent start of the zombie apocalypse. We also saw the first two zombie victims she used as her protectors.

The season 4 premier lived up to expectations. We watched as Michonne fought with herself and her emotions. She was finally beginning to trust the people and accept her new existence at the prison only to have it all ripped away again. We watched as she aimlessly wandered the plains, surrounded by zombies, then snapped out of her mindless stupor, slaughtering 21 zombies in the process.

The show ended with her searching out and finding the home occupied by Rick and Carl.

Next week’s show will focus on other members of the scattered prison compound,  as they struggle to survive and reunite.

Before Watching The Walking Dead, This Is What You Need to Know…

After weeks of waiting, The Walking Dead mid-season premiere is set for tonight at 9 p.m. eastern/pacific on AMC.

Let’s refresh ourselves on what happened last time.

Given the amount of time that’s passed since the mid-season finale in December, you may need a refresh on what happened in The Walking Dead season 4, episode 9.

1) Hershel and The Governor have died. In a shoot out at the prison, The Governor kills Hershel, and Michonne kills The Governor (a.k.a. Brian) moments later.

2) Speaking of the prison… bye, prison! The gun fire battle also sent the prison up in flames, so now Rick and company are in need of a new place to call home. Rumors indicate that by the end of season 4, they’ll have a new place.

3) All of the survivors are out on their own. Numerous promos (viewable below) show that each of the good humans are on the run by themselves. Some of them are in very small groups of two – maybe three – but the mid-season premiere will show how they all cope without being in a bigger group setting.

4) Baby Judith may or may not be dead. Rick and Carl believe she’s been killed, but viewers think someone like Beth may’ve picked her up. If so, we can’t wait to see the reunion between the father, son, and daughter. Hypable readers have speculated wildly about whether or not she’s alive.

Crazy Weight Loss on The Biggest Loser Winner is Scary – Video

Yea, exactly. That was the impression when two of the judges on the Biggest Loser, Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper saw the final product – the unveiling of the new Rachel Frederickson. She entered the competition weighing 260 lbs, and at the end of it all, the winner of the popular television show was a tiny 105 lbs – a total weight loss of 155 lbs, leading many on twitter to say that her weightloss was borderline dangerous.

Since she’s only 5’4”, that puts her body mass index at 18 — below what the National Institute of Health considers a healthy minimum. In other words, the Twitter masses have claimed, Frederickson lost too much weight. It’s impossible to say whether that’s true based on numbers alone — more on that later — but it’s equally impossible to see why anyone’s surprised by Frederickson’s “scary” weight loss.

A Full House Reunion on Jimmy Fallon – Video

Continuing his monopoly on twentysomething nostalgia, Jimmy Fallon brought in three of the most beloved early ’90s father figures on Wednesday night to help sing away his Tonight Show transition blues.

Bob Saget, John Stamos, and Dave Coulier reprised their Full House roles — as Danny Tanner, Jesse Katsopolis, and Joey Gladstone, respectively — and the whole thing was so adorable, you might even forget that they were comforting a 39-year-old comedian dressed in children’s pajamas and sitting on a bed framed by four gigantic pencils (a la Michelle Tanner).

The guys also reenacted some of their signature Full House tag lines:

Bill Cosby To Make TV Comeback In New NBC Family Comedy

Bill Cosby has a new project up his sleeves for all you TV fans that miss your weekly dose of Cliff, Clair and the entire Huxtable gang.

While it’s not exactly the “Cosby Show,” the iconic entertainer plans to make a comeback on NBC, three decades later, with a new multi-generational family sitcom. According to Deadline, Cosby will star in the half-hour comedy and reunite with “Cosby Show” producer Tom Werner.

“The new comedy will be built around Cosby, who will play the patriarch of a multi-generational family and, like the comedian’s previous family sitcoms – “Cosby Show” and “Cosby” on CBS — “The Cosby Show” will channel his take on marriage and parenting,” Deadline reports. “Cosby and Werner are meeting with writers on the project, which has been put on off-season development track.”

Cosby shared details about the upcoming show with Yahoo TV in November. “They would like to see a married couple that acts like they love each other, warts and all, children who respect the parenting, and the comedy of people who make mistakes. Warmth and forgiveness,” he said. “So I hope to get that opportunity, and I will deliver the best of Cosby.”

And to add icing on the cake, the 76-year-old star is also working to reboot his popular 1970’s animated series “Fat Albert And The Cosby Kids.”

Ratings: Rachel Maddow Beating Fox Like They Stole Something

Fox News is hemorrhaging young viewers, but last week, things hit a new low for Fox. Rachel Maddow beat Fox News for the entire week with viewers age 25-54.

According to TVNewser, “The Rachel Maddow Show” averaged 325,000 A25-54 viewers for the week, topping Fox News’ “The Kelly File,” which drew 305,000, and “Piers Morgan Tonight,” which had 159,000. It was MSNBC’s best 9pmET performance since the week of the Boston Marathon bombing (4/15/13). MSNBC’s coverage of the Chris Christie bridge scandal propelled MSNBC to#1 in the primetime demo on both Thursday and Friday of last week. Maddow won the 9pmET timeslot among younger viewers both nights.”

Moving Megyn Kelly to 9 PM was supposed to lure young viewers to Fox News. That move has failed as Kelly isn’t drawing the younger demographic that Fox News desperately needs for the future. The Maddow victory comes on the heels of Fox News seeing a 30% drop in young viewership in 2013. These numbers are also a huge victory for Maddow. She broke the Bridgegate story, and it is nice to see her being rewarded for some excellent reporting.

Duck Dynasty’s Ratings Plummet after Robinson’s Statement

Did the controversy surrounding Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson take a toll on the show’s appeal? A&E’s flagship reality series clocked 8.5 million viewers Wednesday night, snapping a streak of ratings records and posting its first season-to-season drop. Among adults 18-49, the premiere averaged 4.2 million viewers, down 33%. Those are still huge numbers for a cable series, but the Season 5 opener was down from the show’s Season 4 debut, which drew nearly 12 million to become the No. 1-rated nonfiction series telecast in cable history. It edged the Season 4 finale, which was watched by 8.4 million.  More recently, the one-hour Duck Dynasty Christmas special logged nearly 9 million viewers.

The two back-to-back episodes were the first appearance on A&E of the Robertson family since patriarch Phil’s controversial comments about gay men and blacks in a GQ interview that caused A&E to suspend him. After the rest of the family indicated they would not do the show without him, and religious organizations and a legion of conservatives stood by him, A&E reversed its decision, lifting Phil’s suspension.
