8-Year-Old Boy Charged With Murdering 1-Year-Old Girl

The 8-year-old was apparently the oldest child in the house and left there the supervised the 1-year-old and three other children. He attacked and killed the child because the she wouldn’t stop crying. And where was the mother you ask? She was out clubbing for the night!

An 8-year-old Birmingham boy is charged with murder in the beating death of a toddler girl left in his care, the youngest person in recent memory charged with murder in Jefferson County.

The girl’s mother is charged with manslaughter after police say she left her young daughter in the care of a group of children while she partied at a nightclub.

“This is one  of the most heartbreaking investigations that I have seen in over 30 years of my law enforcement career,” said Birmingham police Chief A.C. Roper.

“There are just too many deep rooted issues in this horrific crime. It’s extremely troubling from so many different angles and there are no law enforcement answers to prevent it,” Roper said. “We’ve been concerned about the kids and the future effect on their lives. The bottom line is an innocent young baby lost her life and that should be a wake-up call for our community.”

Kelci Devine Lewis, who turned 1 in May, was found unresponsive in her crib at 10:45 a.m. Oct. 12. Police were called to the home on Second Avenue South, and Kelci was taken to Children’s of Alabama where she was pronounced dead at 11:07 a.m.

Authorities have said there were visible injuries to the girl. She died from blunt force trauma to the head, and internal injuries, Birmingham police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards has said.

High School Football Player Dies On Field Moments after Scoring Touchdown – Video

“We have come to terms that Luke, our beautiful gift from God, is no longer with us,” Luke’s father, David Schemm, said. “Luke gave everything in life he had, in every moment. As a son, a brother and a friend.”

A high school football player collapsed and died moments after scoring a touchdown, NBC station KSN reported.

Luke Schemm’s on-field death was the 11th fatality related to high-school football since July, the affiliate reported, citing figures from the National Center for Catastrophic Sport Injury Research in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

The 17-year-old high-school senior was playing for Wallace County High School in Sharon Springs, Kansas, when he scored a touchdown in the middle of the third quarter on Tuesday, his father told reporters. The teen ran to the sidelines and collapsed moments later.

Schemm was transferred to a hospital near Denver, Colorado, where doctors declared him brain dead. The announcement that the teenager was taken off life support was made by the family’s pastor during a vigil Wednesday night, according to KSN.

#Insanity – Dead man’s Arbitrary Ask Voters Not to Vote for Hillary Clinton

There is an undying fascination with the right wing over a possible Hillary Clinton presidency in 2016 and death. Recently, I highlighted a story about someone attacking the tombstone of Hillary Clinton’s deceased father and now this – using the arbitrary of a dead man to ask voters not to vote for Mrs Clinton.

A North Carolina man’s obituary asked two things of friends and family: instead of sending flowers for the funeral, give the money to charity — and don’t vote for Hillary Clinton in 2016.

The family of 81-year-old Larry Upright added the political message to the obituary announcing the Kannapolis man’s death and burial last week, according to WSOC-TV.

Upright’s daughter, Jill McLain, said the rock-ribbed Republican was passionate about politics. She said that recollection prompted his family to ask obituary readers to reject Clinton’s presidential bid.

New Orleans: 5 Year Old Shoots Self in Head

But don’t worry, guns don’t kill people, people kill people. That twisted way of thinking comes from the NRA and the Republican party.

According to their reasoning, the gun had nothing to do with this 5 year old’s death. She could have also bludgeon herself to death with a rock.

A New Orleans mother is facing murder charges after her 5-year-old daughter, who was locked their home alone, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Investigators told WWLTV that 28-year-old Laderika Smth admitted that a gun was in the home where she had left her daughter while she went to the store.

New Orleans police were called to the home just before 11 a.m. on Sunday and found the 5-year-old girl lying on the bedroom floor. A .38 revolver was also recovered at the scene.

“See that little girl was probably going through the house and she probably ran across the gun, probably thought it was a toy and started playing with it,” neighbor Amber Rodriguez told WVUE.

After being rushed to a local hospital, the girl was taken off life support Sunday evening.

Wife Shot In Head While Showing Off Gun To Husband

When would enough be enough? Here’s another story of a young life cut short, and guess what? A gun is involved.

A woman has been killed after her new assault rifle which she was showing to her friends fired – shooting her in the head.

Gun enthusiast Anastasia Adair, 22, was walking down the stairs and into the garage in her home in Federal Heights, Colorado, when she reached out to hand the rifle to her husband.

The gun, believed to look like an AK-47, fired, hitting her in the head on Tuesday at about 10.40pm local time.

Husband Shane Adair, a tattoo artist, told police he is not sure if he touched the gun as his wife handed it to him, according to Federal Heights Police Lt. Gary Toldness.

The gun is believed to have fired another shot as Mrs Adair fell down the stairs and into her husband’s arms.

And they say guns don’t kill people… Please!

Man Falls On Subway Tracks in Time Square And Is Electrocuted

A man fell onto the subway tracks in Times Square this morning and was electrocuted by the third rail, authorities said.

The fire department first received a call of a person on the northbound 2 and 3 train tracks at 6:55 a.m. at the 7th Avenue and 42nd Street station. A second caller reported that the man had been electrocuted.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, the FDNY said.

Two and 3 express trains will be running on the local track between 14th Street and 72nd Street, the MTA said.

The details surrounding the incident were not immediately known.

Movie Critic Roger Ebert Loses Battle With Cancer

One of the most well-known movie critics of all time has lost his battle with cancer today, April, 4, 2013 at the age of 70.

Two days ago, Tuesday, April 2, 2013 Roger Ebert reported that he was “taking a leave of presence” in order to undergo radiation treatments for cancer that was discovered due to a hip fracture.

Roger Ebert, born June 18, 1942, had suffered a long hard battle with thyroid and salivary gland cancer. He was first diagnosed in 2002 with papillary thyroid cancer and then later in 2003 for cancer in his salivary glands where he underwent several surgeries that were deemed successful at the time. Unfortunately, several years later in 2006, he had surgery to remove part of his jaw bone in order to remove more cancerous tissue found.

Since 2006, Roger Ebert has underwent several medical complications and future surgeries that slowed his progress, but never deterred him from continuing his work as a movie critic and reviewer.

Roger Ebert was well known for his Siskel and Ebert tv shows and his movie critiques featured in Chicago Sun-Times, and he was also the first film critic to receive a Pulitzer Prize and be awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame star.

I grew up watching the Siskel and Ebert shows and his passion and love for a great movie will certainly be missed.

Graphic Pictures Of Christopher Dorner’s Charred Remains For Sale

TMZ Reports:

Christopher Dorner‘s badly scorched, partially dismembered body was photographed after his death … and TMZ has learned the pics are now being shopped to the media.

TMZ has seen the photos (the sellers showed up to our doorstep) — and the shots are extremely gruesome.

The top of Dorner’s head is gone … presumably the result of the self-inflicted gunshot wound that ended his life after the gun battle at a remote cabin in Big Bear, CA last week.

The body is missing several limbs … including an arm and parts of a leg … and his midsection is charred from the fire that consumed the cabin during the Feb. 12 shoot-out.

Despite the intense blaze, several body parts remained intact  … including his eyeballs, chest area and penis.

In fact, Dorner’s upper teeth were barely damaged … which helped authorities ID the body.

TMZ did not purchase the photos — but the sellers are definitely on the hunt for a buyer.

Apparent Suicide By Country Music Star Mindy McCready

The 37-year-old died from an “apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound“, Arkansas sheriff Marty Moss said.

Her death comes weeks after that of her boyfriend and father of one of her two sons, record producer David Wilson, whose death is being investigated.

The singer had attempted to take her own life twice before and was known to have problems with substance abuse.

The Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office said McCready’s body would be taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy, adding that “the matter will be fully investigated.”

She recorded five studio albums, and scored 12 hits on the US country music charts, including ”Ten Thousand Angels’ and ‘Guys Do It All The Time’.

Her sole UK chart appearance came in 1998, when ‘Oh Romeo’ reached number 41.

Her fifth album, ‘I’m Still Here’, was released in 2010.

Man Charged With Killing Ex SEAL Sniper Chris Kyle

A 25-year-old man was charged with murder in connection with a shooting at a central Texas gun range that killed former Navy SEAL and “American Sniper” author Chris Kyle and his friend, the Texas Department of Public Safety said Sunday.

Sgt. Lonny Haschel said in a news release that 25-year-old Eddie Ray Routh of Lancaster was arraigned Saturday evening on two counts of capital murder.

Haschel said Erath County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about a shooting at the Rough Creek Lodge, west of Glen Rose, at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Police found the bodies of Kyle, 38, and Chad Littlefield, 35, at the shooting range. Glen Rose is about 50 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

Police said Routh opened fire on Kyle and Littlefield around 3:30 p.m. Saturday, then fled in a Ford pickup truck. At about 8 p.m., Routh arrived at his home in Lancaster, about 17 miles southeast of Dallas. Police arrested him after a brief pursuit and took him to the Lancaster Police Department.

Officer Kyle Roberts at the Erath County Jail said Routh arrived there Sunday morning and is being held on a combined $3 million bond — bond for one charge of capital murder was set at $1 million and bond for two charges of murder was $1 million each. Roberts did not have information on whether Routh had a lawyer.

The motive for the shooting was unclear.

Kyle, a decorated soldier, wrote the best-selling book, “American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History,” detailing his 150-plus kills of insurgents from 1999 to 2009. According to promotional information from book publisher William Morrow, Kyle served was deployed to Iraq four times.

Kyle helped start the nonprofit FITCO Cares, which provides at-home fitness equipment for emotionally and physically wounded veterans. Travis Cox, the organization’s director and friend of Kyle’s, spoke with the AP on Sunday morning.

Teaparty Wanted Troy Davis Killed Sooner

Of course we all knew the Teaparty would have their take on the execution of Troy Davis yesterday. And who better to tell the Teaparty side of this killing, than Judson Phillips, president of the Teaparty Nation.

While most sensible individuals looked on last night in horror, as Georgia and the Supreme Court went ahead and legally murdered Troy Davis, the President of the Teaparty Nation wondered why the killing took 20 years to happen. In a blog post, Judson Phillips said this;

Troy Davis was on death row for twenty years. He was given a trial by a jury of his peers and then had countless opportunities to relitigate his death penalty.

The justice system was not broken.

On second thought, may be it was. For twenty years, he sat on death row while Mark McPhail’s family had to endure all of the appeals. Perhaps the question we should be asking is why does it take twenty years and an untold amount of taxpayer money for justice to be delivered?

An amazing take. Mr. Judson Phillips heard the very same things about Troy Davis’s case that the rest of the world heard. No credible evidence, disputed ballistic results, and the recanting of seven out of nine “eyewitnesses” testimonies. But with all these circumstances, Phillips ponders the question of why it took so long.

This statement from Davis makes me wonder if the famous Teaparty phrase, “I want my country back,” is a reference to back in the day,  when human beings were hung from trees. Back then, no trials were necessary and their idea of justice was swift and immediate. If you looked a certain way, behaved a certain way, or didn’t do as you were told, or you were in the wrong place at the wrong time, then you would be rounded-up, have a noose thrown around your neck, and hung from a tree.

I understand now Mr. Phillips – president of the Teaparty Nation. You probably have a noose in the trunk of your car, don’t ‘cha?

Clueless Bachmann Wishes Presley A Happy Birthday

Seems like a commendable thing to do, right? Wrong!

 “We played you a little bit of ‘Promised Land’ when we pulled up. You can’t do better than Elvis Presley, and we thought we would celebrate his birthday as we get started celebrating taking our country back to work!”

That was Bachmann’s opening statement in Spartanburg, S.C yesterday, as she addressed the crowd gathered at one of her presidential campaign events. The problem with her celebrating Presley’s birthday yesterday was a little fact that happened to be that August 16th  was the day Presley died. Elvis Presley was actually born on January 8th.

But have no fear, this is Michele Bachmann after all. What would really be surprising would be if she even knew what day of the week it was!
