The Real Fraud

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I don’t know why anyone, and I mean anyone, listens to anything, and I mean anything, Donald Trump says.

He won the election? No.

He’s going to get states to appoint alternate electoral college voters who will undo the will of the people? No.

He’s the best Republican president since Lincoln? No.

It’s clear that he doesn’t care at all about the country or democracy or unity, but only about himself and how history will see him as a minor, failed, one term president who lost because he couldn’t adequately meet the most serious challenge of his presidency. In fact, history will remember him as the president who refused to wear a mask, told the country to take unproven medicine and bleach to fight Covid, and victimized responsible politicians who followed science and common sense rather than worrying about how the pandemic was going to effect Donald Trump.

He’s also going to be remembered as the president who couldn’t even consider that he might lose the election to a more qualified, less hyperactive candidate who spoke sensibly and genuinely to the American people. Donald Trump could have easily won this election, but his strategy in the first debate was a debacle, and his reliance on conspiracy theories regarding Joe Biden’s son and mail-in ballots, and that darn virus likely did him in.

And it’s not like Donald Trump is in any way a popular president. He lost the popular vote in 2016 with 46% of people voting for him and 48% for Hillary Clinton. During his presidency, his approval ratings rarely rose above 46% and only in the pandemic’s early days did it rise above 50% before moving back down into the 40s. In the 2020 election he improved his share of the vote from 46% to…47%. In an election where more Americans than ever took part. In every case, he claimed fraud, illegal voters, and other plots robbed him of his rightful majority. The only thing he didn’t claim was the truth; that he didn’t, never did, and doesn’t now, have the approval of a majority of this country.

Joe Biden has so far won 51% of the popular vote, and more votes are being counted. Joe Biden got more votes than any other presidential candidate in the history of this country. Joe Biden won the election. I just don’t see where Donald Trump can claim anything other than he lost the election. Period.

But rather than show any grace or respect for the country, its democratic institutions, and its people, Donald Trump has to drag us through a process that has seen him lose in court after court because he has no case and no facts. He certainly has his supporters and spineless Republican officeholders who fear that if they tell him the truth he’ll have them defeated in primaries, but, again, there’s no case for anything other than helping to transition the country from the Trump Administration to the Biden Administration.

Anything else does damage to the country.

Regeneron gets FDA Authorization for Covid-19 Treatment

The Food and Drug Administration has granted emergency authorization for the experimental antibody treatment given to President Trump shortly after he was diagnosed with Covid-19, giving doctors another option to treat Covid-19 patients as cases across the country continue to rise.

The treatment, made by the biotech company Regeneron, is a cocktail of two powerful antibodies that have shown promise in early studies at keeping the infection in check, reducing medical visits in patients who get the drug early in the course of their disease. A similar treatment, made by Eli Lilly, was given emergency approval earlier this month.

Rachel Maddow’s Urgent Plea – Whatever you do, “don’t get this thing”

Rachel Maddow did her show from her home on Thursday and explained why she was missing for the last few weeks. The emotional MSNBC host explained that her partner of 21 years, Susan Mikula, tested positive for Covid-19 and almost died from the illness. Maddow pleaded with everyone to do whatever you have to do to keep safe, “don’t get this thing.”

“Don’t get this thing. Do whatever you can to keep from getting it,” she said. “For Thanksgiving next week, you really are going to have to just have it at home without people coming over. And yeah, it’s going to suck, but that’s going to suck so much less than you or somebody in your family getting this and getting sick. Trust me.”

We’ve Hit the Highest Daily Coronavirus Death Rate Recorded So Far

Donald Trump lied to us again!

Remember when he promised that after the elections we would all stop taking about Coronavirus? Well, we still are talking. Why? Because the Coronavirus is worse now than it’s ever been. The latest data shows the highest daily death total seen in this country with 1707 deaths recorded in one day!

At this rate, coronavirus is killing at least one American every minute of the day.

At least 1,707 new Covid-19 deaths were reported Tuesday, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. That’s the highest daily death toll since May 14.

And it’s only going to get worse, said Dr. Jonathan Reiner, a professor at George Washington University School of Medicine.
“The horrible death count that we saw yesterday in the United States … reflects the number of people who were being infected three weeks ago — two to three weeks ago, because that’s the lag,” Reiner said Wednesday.

“On average, two to three weeks ago, we were seeing 70,000 to 80,000 (new) cases per day. Yesterday, there were about 155,000 (new) cases. So if you’re alarmed at the 1,700 deaths today, two to three weeks from now, we’re going to see 3,000 deaths a day.”

Donald Trump is Sabotaging Covid Vaccine’s Rollout

President Donald Trump’s refusal to coordinate with President-elect Joe Biden on the critical Covid-19 vaccine is bringing a staggering possibility into clearer view: that an outgoing US commander in chief is actively working to sabotage his successor.

Trump’s denial of his election defeat, his lies about nonexistent mass coordinated voter fraud and his strangling of the rituals of transferring power between administrations are not just democracy-damaging aberrations.

Given the current national emergency, they threaten to cause practical fallout that could damage Biden’s incoming White House not just in a political sense. There are increasing concerns that Trump’s obstruction will slow and complicate the delivery of the vaccine that brings the tantalizing prospect of a return to normal life amid stunning news from trials showing doses are effective in stopping more than 90% of coronavirus infections.

Dr. Fauci Says Trump Hasn’t attended a Coronavirus Meeting in “Several Months”

Confirms what we already know. Donald Trump has better things to take care of than worrying about the health of the American people. If they die, they die. Instead, Donald Trump is working on self preservation and trying to win an election he’s already lost.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert, revealed on Sunday morning that President Donald Trump hasn’t attended a White House coronavirus task force meeting in “several months,” adding that “it would be better” if he could start working with President-elect Joe Biden’s transition team on the public health response to the pandemic.

During an interview on CNN’s State of the Union, Fauci expressed cautious optimism about the impact that incoming vaccines could have on the raging crisis, saying we could see the nation start a return to normalcy by the second quarter of next year. At the same time, he said that “it is possible” that there could be another 200,000 American deaths over the next few months.

PFizer Announces 90 Percent Efficacy With New Covid Vaccine

If proven to be true, this is huge!

“This could be the greatest medical advance in 100 years,” said Pfizer chairman and CEO Dr. Albert Bourla of his company’s blockbuster announcement that its COVID-19 vaccine is showing a 90 per cent efficacy. The announcement has made headlines around the world and has sent stock markets soaring in optimism.

To be clear, what 90 per cent efficacy means is that out of the nearly 44,000 people of diverse backgrounds not previously exposed to the disease enrolled in Phase 3 of the study when Pfizer looked at the infected and non-infected patients, 90 per cent of those infected were shown to have received the placebo, while only 10 per cent of the infected had received the actual vaccine. Thus, 90 per cent efficacy.

This is great news because scientists have long indicated that a vaccine with a 50 per cent efficacy would go a long way to controlling the spread of the pandemic.
