Kanye West Buys House across the street from Kim Kardashian

Dude, give it up already!

When Kanye West is struck by inspiration, he tends to quickly follow through with action. Last month, while donating Thanksgiving meals to the L.A. Mission, West got on the horn for a surprise announcement to the local crowd — saying he planned to “get his family back together” and rekindle a relationship with estranged wife Kim Kardashian. The fashion mogul added that if he couldn’t live “in the house” with his family, he would buy “the home right next door” to Kardashian.

Turns out West wasn’t just whistling Dixie. Though he’s already got a new $57.3 million Malibu mansion about 30 minutes (by car) from Kardashian’s vast Hidden Hills estate — and though she apparently has not wavered from wanting a divorce — West wishes to remain closer at hand. And so he’s dropped another $4.5 million on a relatively modest Hidden Hills estate, one that happens to lie directly across the street from the ex-Kimye compound. From here, the 44-year-old will presumably be able to keep a watchful eye on Kardashian’s doings.

UN Chief Wants Action to Stop Killer Robots

Yes, we are talking about killer robots that use artificial intelligence and facial recognition to commit their killer duties…

Negotiators at the U.N. talks have for eight years been discussing limits on lethal autonomous weapons, or LAWS, which are fully machine-controlled and rely on new technology such as artificial intelligence and facial recognition.

But pressure has increased in part due to a U.N. panel report in March that said the first autonomous drone attack may have already occurred in Libya.

“I encourage the Review Conference to agree on an ambitious plan for the future to establish restrictions on the use of certain types of autonomous weapons,” Guterres said at the start of the five-day talks.

Coronavirus Deaths in The US Surpasses 800,000

This sobering number represents more deaths than any other nation.

The United States passed another grim Covid-19 milestone Monday, as more than 800,000 Americans have now died from the virus that’s plagued the country for nearly two years.

There have been at least 800,156 confirmed deaths traced to the coronavirus, according to a rolling tally by NBC News.

That’s more than in any other nation, and more than the population of Boston, Washington, D.C., or Seattle.

Hillary Clinton Predicts Trump will run in 2024 which “could lead to the end of our democracy”

The former Democratic presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton not only predicted a second Trump run, but also a potential win by the former president which, according to Mrs. Clinton, “could lead to the end of our democracy.”

I must say I agree…

Clinton — who lost the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008 to then-Senator Barack Obama of Illinois before becoming the party’s nominee in 2016 — was defeated by Trump in what was seen as one of the biggest political upsets in modern political history.

“If I were a betting person right now, I’d say Trump is going to run again,” she told Sunday Today host, Willie Geist. “He seems to be setting himself up to do that, and if he’s not held accountable, he gets to do it again.”

“I think that could be the end of our democracy,” she said. “Not to be too pointed about it, but I want people to understand that this could be a make-or-break point. If he or someone of his ilk were once again to be elected president, especially if he had a Congress that would do his bidding, you will not recognize our country.”

Nick Cannon Reveals Death of his 5-Month-Old Son

During his Nick Cannon Show on Tuesday, Nick Cannon told the audience of the recent death of his five-month-old son, Zen.

The Masked Singer host revealed in an episode of his talk show, The Nick Cannon Show, on December 7, 2021, that his son Zen—whom he shares with model Alyssa Scott—died from brain cancer. “I got so much to talk about,” he said at the start of the episode. “I haven’t even shared this with anybody. Not even the crew. Just because there is so much going on in the world. I had a tough, very tough weekend.”

Nick—welcomed Zen in June 2021—shared a photo of Zen for his “Pic of the Day” before he broke down in tears over his son’s death. “Before the show started, in the summertime, Zen was born in June, June 23 actually,” he said. “It was a great day, y’all know I got a lot of kids. Zen is my youngest. It was so exciting.” Nick—who revealed that he held his son for the last time on December 5, 2021—called the episode of his talk show a “celebration of life” for his late child. “You can’t heal until you feel,” he said. He continued, “I didn’t know how I was going to handle today. But I wanted to grieve with my family.”

CNN Fires Chris Cuomo

It was just a matter of time. After his recent indefinite suspension from the network, Chris Cuomo, former host of CNN’s Primetime, is now officially out of a job after the company conducted an internal investigation into Cuomo’s part in drafting public responses to his brother’s multiple sexual misconduct accusations.

“Chris Cuomo was suspended earlier this week pending further evaluation of new information that came to light about his involvement with his brother’s defense,” CNN said in a statement on Saturday. “We retained a respected law firm to conduct the review, and have terminated him, effective immediately. While in the process of that review, additional information has come to light. Despite the termination, we will investigate as appropriate.”

The announcement completed a stunning downfall for Chris Cuomo, the top-rated anchor at CNN and a veteran television journalist who had built a successful broadcast career outside of his famed political family. Until last month, Mr. Cuomo, the host of the 9 p.m. program “Cuomo Prime Time,” had enjoyed the support of CNN’s president, Jeff Zucker, and he faced no discipline for his behind-the-scenes strategizing with Andrew Cuomo’s political aides, a breach of basic journalistic norms.

Texas Deputy Attorney General Apologizes for Calling Simone Biles a “National Embarrassment”

CBS News is reporting that Texas Deputy Attorney General Aaron Reitz is apologizing to Simone Biles for calling the Olympic champion a “national embarrassment,” CBS Houston affiliate KHOU-TV reports.

The superstar gymnast, who lives in Spring, just north of Houston, has pulled out of two competitions in the Tokyo Games, saying she needs to focus on her mental health. It’s still not clear if she’ll participate in next week’s individual events.

In a now-deleted tweet, Reitz quote-tweeted video from Kerri Strug’s 1996 Olympic performance on an injured ankle then said, “Contrast this with our selfish, childish national embarrassment, Simone Biles.”

Late Wednesday afternoon, Reitz tweeted again about Biles. But this time, he did an abrupt about-face, saying he owed her “an apology. A big one”:

DOJ Will Not Offer a Defense for Republican Rep. Mo Brooks

In other words, being a Representative does not give you the right to lie to angry Trump supporters, and in so doing, incite a riot at the U.S Capitol. Apparently Brooks thought otherwise.

The Justice Department rejected a request by Alabama Republican Rep. Mo Brooks for legal protection in court against a lawsuit linking him to the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

Brooks, former President Donald Trump, and others were sued by Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) earlier this year. Swalwell alleges that Brooks and others named in the lawsuit helped incite the mob of Trump supporters on Jan. 6 during a pro-Trump rally.

The group later charged the U.S. Capitol building. Five people died that day.

The Justice Department says Brooks was engaged in campaign activity when he participated in the rally. That is not within the scope of his duties as a member of Congress, so he doesn’t qualify for legal immunity for his actions, the department said.

“The Department has declined to issue a certification because it cannot conclude that Brooks was acting within the scope of his office or employment as a Member of Congress at the time of the incident out of which the claims in this case arose,” the Justice Department explained in a court filing.

Bill Cosby To Be Released from Jail

The AP is reporting that Pennsylvania’s highest court overturned Bill Cosby’s sex assault conviction Wednesday after finding an agreement with a previous prosecutor prevented him from being charged in the case.

Cosby has served more than two years of a three- to 10-year sentence at a state prison near Philadelphia. He had vowed to serve all 10 years rather than acknowledge any remorse over the 2004 encounter with accuser Andrea Constand.

He was charged in late 2015, when a prosecutor armed with newly unsealed evidence — Cosby’s damaging deposition from her lawsuit — arrested him days before the 12-year statute of limitations expired.

The court said that District Attorney Kevin Steele, who made the decision to arrest Cosby, was obligated to stand by his predecessor’s promise not to charge Cosby when he later gave potentially incriminating testimony in Constand’s civil suit. There was no evidence that promise was ever put in writing.
