Polls – Democrats Want Her As Biden’s Vice Presidential Candidate

Various Polls have been conducted and Elizabeth Warren is apparently the candidate Democrats want as Joe Biden’s Vice Presidential pick.

New polling by YouGov and The Economist, which was conducted from April 26 to 28, found that Democratic voters are split between several potential vice presidential candidates. However, progressive Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, who previously was running for the Democratic presidential nomination, leads the pack with more than a quarter of Democratic voters seeing her as the best choice for Biden.

Warren was backed by 26 percent of Democratic respondents, while Biden’s other former rival for the Democratic nomination, Senator Kamala Harris of California, came in second with support from 18 percent of the party’s voters. Stacey Abrams, who ran unsuccessfully to become Georgia’s governor in 2018, came in third with 12 percent, and Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, who also previously sought the Democratic presidential nomination, came in fourth with 11 percent.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer was backed by 3 percent of Democratic voters, while Senator Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin was supported by 2 percent.

Trump Suggests Injecting Yourself with Disinfectant To Fight Coronavirus

Just when you thought you’ve heard it all from this president, the man goes and says this:

Donald Trump suggested the possibility of an “injection” of disinfectant into a person infected with the coronavirus as a deterrent to the virus during his daily briefing Thursday.

Trump made the remark after Bill Bryan, who leads the Department of Homeland Security’s science and technology division, gave a presentation on research his team has conducted that shows that the virus doesn’t live as long in warmer and more humid temperatures. Bryan said, “The virus dies quickest in sunlight,” leaving Trump to wonder whether you could bring the light “inside the body.”

“So supposing we hit the body with a tremendous — whether it’s ultraviolet or just a very powerful light — and I think you said that hasn’t been checked because of the testing,” Trump said, speaking to Bryan during the briefing. “And then I said, supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or some other way, and I think you said you’re going to test that, too.”

He added: “I see the disinfectant that knocks it out in a minute, one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning? As you see, it gets in the lungs, it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it would be interesting to check that.”

He didn’t specify the kind of disinfectant.

Medical professionals, including Dr. Vin Gupta, a pulmonologist global health policy expert and an NBC News and MSNBC contributor. were quick to challenge the president’s “improper health messaging.”

“This notion of injecting or ingesting any type of cleansing product into the body is irresponsible and it’s dangerous,” said Gupta. “It’s a common method that people utilize when they want to kill themselves.”

Trump Throws Kemp Under The Bus – I “Strongly” Disagree with his decision

When Trump speaks, Republicans listen. And Georgia’s Republican governor, Brian Kemp thought he was falling in line, you know, doing what Trump wanted. Today, however, Trump threw Kemp under the bus.

Trump has not minced words on his desire to get the economy going again. He has been fixated on ending the Coronavirus quarantine and getting Americans back to work, back to school, and back to their normal life. The only problem is, Trump’s desire flies in the face of logic. Asking governors to end their quarantine and reopen their state can, and most likely will, have an adverse effect and can lead to more coronavirus cases and possibly more deaths.

Trump wants states to reopen by May 1st.

Brian Kemp took heed. He heard Trump’s call to governors to reopen their state by May 1st and obeyed. Asked about Kemp’s blind allegiance to his nonsense, Trump pulled himself out of the equation, stated that he “strongly” disagrees with Kemp’s decision and threw Kemp squarely under the bus.

“I told the governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, that I disagree strongly with his decision to open certain facilities which are in violation of the Phase 1 guidelines for the incredible people of Georgia,” Trump said, referring to preliminary guidelines the White House issued on beginning to reopen the country following statewide lockdowns to curb the spread of the virus.

“He must do what he thinks is right,” Trump said. “I want him to do what he thinks is right. But I disagree with him on what he’s doing, but I want to let the governors do — now if I see something totally egregious, totally out of line, I’ll do — but I think spas and beauty salons and tattoo parlors and barbershops in Phase 1 — we’re going to have Phase 2 very soon — is just too soon.”

Man Who Called Coronavirus a “Political Ploy” Dies from Coronavirus

A 60-year-old Ohio man who dismissed the state’s coronavirus lockdown as a ‘political ploy’ and claimed the governor didn’t have the authority to close businesses because of the pandemic has died of COVID-19, Daily Mail reports.

John W. McDaniel tested positive for the coronavirus in late March and died at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus last Wednesday.

On Facebook, he had dismissed the killer virus as a ‘political ploy’ that he said officials were using to exert control over the public.

‘Does anybody have the guts to say this COVID19 is a political ploy? Asking for a friend. Prove me wrong,’ he wrote in a March 13 post.

He later claimed governors did not have the ‘authority’ to shut down bars and that anyone who was worried about becoming sick should ‘just’ not go out.

The Pandemic’s Effects Have Only Just Begun

I’ve been wondering over the past few years about how this new Gilded Age will end, and I think we have the beginnings of the answer. World War I, and a worldwide influenza epidemic you might have read about, ended the first one. Now it seems that another pandemic will end the current one. It is eminently possible that the economy bounces back quickly and by the fall we are well on our way to a full recovery, but my best guess it that this will not happen and that the economic carnage will be wide and deep.

The effects?

First and foremost is the idea that most American workers are exposed. Without a job, most people don’t have health insurance and most do not have much savings, either for a rainy day or for retirement. Hourly workers are especially vulnerable and those who work for technology-and-app-driven businesses have found that they are expendable. Members of minority groups have not only felt more economic pain than whites, they are also being exposed to Covid-19, and dying, at higher rates. The government did pass huge stimulus bills, but $1,200 isn’t going to pay too many bills and many small businesses were shut out by the lack of money and the big banks that controlled who received loans.

My sense is that this will have a profound effect on people’s thinking and votes. The United States does not have nearly the safety net that other countries have, and much of that is based on an ideology that says that if you have government programs, then people will not work. This is simply not true. Consider the debate over the stimulus plan. Democrats wanted to increase the amount of money that people could get for unemployment, while Republicans balked because they thought that giving more money would decrease their incentive to work. But there is no work. People need immediate help. And most people would rather work. Ultimately the Democratic version of the bill passed.

The same is true of health insurance. The work-based system we have now has also been exposed as inadequate and unequal. And the Republicans have no plan to fix it. In fact, the administration is backing a suit that will soon be in front of the Supreme Court to declare the Affordable Care Act unconstitutional. What we need is health insurance that is both affordable and portable. A robust public option with low deductibles would fit the bill. Lowering the eligibility age for Medicare to 50 or 55 would also help. If we can pay trillions over the course of a few months to bail out airlines, cruise companies and banks, we can find money to finally give all Americans decent health insurance.

The most shocking aspect of this pandemic, though, has been what it’s uncovered about children in American society. Millions of children do not have access to health care because of their parent’s job, but now it’s no longer possible to ignore the fact that millions do not have access to equal educational programs. They do not have technology in their homes or from their school districts that allows them to learn online. They rely on schools to provide them with a healthy breakfast and/or lunch, and even that is under assault by an administration that wants to relax school nutrition standards. They do not have reliable, fast Internet connections. They live in cities, suburbs, exurbs and rural areas that do not have the money to keep schools open in a pandemic or an economic crisis. And we expect to compete with the rest of the world on standardized tests and economic productivity?

And now we evidently have an administration that is urging on those who would put our health at risk and undermine the safe and orderly reopening that is critical to our country.

This is what the Democrats have to remind the American people about every day for the rest of this campaign. They have to make it personal and immediate and tell people that a rising stock market helps the wealthy, but the rest of the economy is a result of treating workers respectfully and as valued members of their organizations. Health care. Affordable child care. Livable wages. That’s the message that will win.

Trump’s Campaign Secretly Pays $180,000 A Year to Sons Girlfriend/Wife

According to reporting by The Huffington Post, Kimberly Guilfoyle, the girlfriend of eldest son Donald Trump Jr., and Lara Trump, wife of middle son Eric Trump, are each receiving $15,000 a month, according to two GOP sources who are informal White House advisers and who spoke on condition of anonymity.

They were unsure when the payments began but say they are being made by campaign manager Bradley Parscale through his company rather than directly by either the campaign or the party in order to avoid public reporting requirements.

“I can pay them however I want to pay them,” Parscale told HuffPost on Friday, but then declined to comment any further.

Critics of the arrangement, including Republicans, said the setup was designed to get around Federal Election Commission rules that require campaigns, political parties and other committees to disclose their spending in detail.

“A lot of people close to Donald Trump are getting rich off of his campaign,” said Paul Ryan, a campaign finance legal expert at the watchdog group Common Cause. “They don’t want donors to know that they’re getting rich. Because, at the end of the day, it’s donor money.”

Stacy Abrams – “I am ready” To Be Vice President

In a recent interview with Elle Magazine, Georgia’s Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Stacy Abrams, did not mince words, and admitted that she wants to be Joe Biden’s running mate in this year’s 2020 presidential elections.

“I have the capacity to attract voters by motivating typically ignored communities. I have a strong history of executive and management experience in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. I’ve spent 25 years in independent study of foreign policy. I am ready to help advance an agenda of restoring America’s place in the world. If I am selected, I am prepared and excited to serve.”

Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee has vowed to pick a woman as his vice presidential running-mate. Other possible contenders include Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren, both former presidential candidates who have since ended their campaigns and endorsed Joe Biden.

Biden is aiming to make the official announcement before the Democratic convention in August.

Abrams narrowly lost her bid to be Georgia’s governor to her Republican opponent, Brian Kemp.

Michael Cohen To Be Released From Prison Because of Coronavirus Fears

Michael Cohen, President Trump’s former personal attorney, will be released to home confinement as part of the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ push to stem the spread of coronavirus, according to his attorney and a Justice Department official.

The New York Times reports that Roger Adler, a lawyer for Cohen, said that he had filed paperwork with prison officials seeking “compassionate release” for Cohen during the global health pandemic because Cohen had “an underlying medical condition that he has been hospitalized for.” He said Thursday night that it was his “understanding from speaking with a family member” that the request had been granted, and that Cohen would soon be moved to home confinement.

A Justice Department official confirmed the development Friday. The lawyer’s assertion was first reported by CNN.

Trump Defunds WHO, Blames The Organization for his Miserable Coronavirus Response

He already defunded a pandemic response team tasked with the job of responding to viruses and diseases in the early stages before they progress to pandemics. Now, in the middle of a pandemic, the “stable genius” in the White House decided that this is the time to halt funding to the World Health Organization – another organization task with the job of protecting the world from potential pandemics.

You see, Trump has come under scrutiny for his lackadaisical response to the deadly Coronavirus outbreak here in the United States. He called the virus a “democratic hoax,” he blatantly denied the dangers of the disease and proclaimed that the virus cannot gain traction in America because America is too prepared. With almost 610,000 already infected and over 26,000 dead here in America, Trump is now trying to step away from the spotlight and is attempting to cast blame on the WHO.

“I am directing my administration to halt funding while a review is conducted to assess the World Health Organization’s role in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the coronavirus,” Trump said on Tuesday, a clear attempt to divert attention away from his miserable handling of the virus.

But this diversion is not new, it is actually expected from the man who blames everyone else for his failures. A few weeks ago, the stable genius in the White House even blamed Obama for the Coronavirus outbreak here in the United States.

“The Obama administration made a decision on testing that turned out to be very detrimental to what we’re doing,” Trump lamented at an earlier White House meeting. “And we undid that decision a few days ago so that the testing can take place in a much more accurate and rapid fashion.”

The man takes no responsibility when things go wrong. Listening to him talk, you’d think he just got into office a month ago.

You’ve been there almost 4 years bro, man-up already!

Donald Trump’s Name will Appear on Your Economic Stimulus Check

For the first time in American history, the name of a president will appear on checks sent to Americans from the IRS.

According to a Washington Post report, Donald Trump’s name will be printed on the economic stimulus checks that will be distributed by the Internal Revenue Service to individuals to help mitigate losses caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The addition, which was ordered by the Treasury Department, is expected to delay the delivery of paper checks by several days, according to the Post, which cited unnamed senior agency officials. The phrase “President Donald J. Trump” will be printed in a memo line on the left side of the checks (most will total $1,200 for individuals), below a line that says “Economic Impact Payment.”

After the IRS adjusts its printing technology for this addition, tens of millions of Americans are expected to receive these checks in the mail in the coming weeks.

NBC News also confirmed the report Tuesday night.

The decision to add Trump’s name to the checks was reportedly finalized late Monday and announced to the IRS’s information technology team on Tuesday, the Post reported, citing a Treasury Department official.

President Obama Officially Endorses Joe Biden for President – Video

The former president of the United States, Barack Obama formally endorsed his former vice president Joe Biden, for president today.

Why it matters: Obama, following in the footsteps of other recent former presidents, chose to let the crowded Democratic primary process play out and not offer an endorsement until voters chose their presumptive nominee.

  • Biden leaned heavily on his strong relationship with Obama and his record as vice president throughout the primary race while still acknowledging that he needed to “earn” Obama’s endorsement.
  • Obama’s endorsement comes one day after Biden’s final rival in the race, Bernie Sanders, offered his own endorsement.

Fox News Host Turns on Trump – “Enough with the 3rd grade name-calling”

It’s not everyday someone at Fox News speeks up about the insanity known as Donald Trump, so when the rare occasion happens, it will be noted here.

One particular Fox & Friends host has had enough of Donald Trump’s criticism on media’s coverage of coronavirus — and she wasn’t afraid to express it. Fox & Friends weekend co-host Jedediah Bila took to Twitter to dig into the president after he criticized Fox News Sunday anchor Chris Wallace, who discussed a New York Times article about Trump not acting sooner on the coronavirus.

“Just watched Mike Wallace wannabe, Chris Wallace, on @FoxNews,” tweeted Trump. “I am now convinced that he is even worse than Sleepy Eyes Chuck Todd of Meet the Press(please!), or the people over at Deface the Nation. What the hell is happening to @FoxNews. It’s a whole new ballgame over there!”

Bila, who was recovering from COVID-19 last week, did not mince words with her response to the former host of Celebrity Apprentice.

“Enough with the 3rd grade name-calling. Chris is doing his job. The news should not be any president’s friend, ally, or buddy. If it bothered you when Obama complained about Fox News, but you’re silent on this complete nonsense, then just stop. Seriously. Enough.”

Trump’s tweet about Wallace came after a busy Easter Sunday morning of tweeting about “Fake News Opposition Party” and “Lamestream Media.” He also tweeted to governors, saying, “Get your states testing programs & apparatus perfected. Be ready, big things are happening. No excuses! The Federal Government is there to help. We are testing more than any country in the World.”
