Man Arrested – Threatened to Kill George Bush then “Barbara is mine”

A New York man allegedly found sitting in a car with a loaded rifle, machete and a container of gasoline was charged on Friday with threatening to kill George W. Bush after professing a romantic interest in the former president’s oldest daughter, prosecutors said.

Benjamin Smith, 44, of upstate New York was arrested in Manhattan by the U.S. Secret Service, according to a criminal complaint filed in federal court.

‘Bush will get his,’ Smith screamed as he was taken into custody, according to the complaint.

Later, when asked about his marital status, he told agents he was divorced and ‘working on a relationship with Barbara Bush.’

At a preliminary hearing, Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrea Griswold told U.S. Magistrate Judge Henry Pitman the government believes Smith was referring to the former president’s daughter and not Bush’s mother, who shares the same name.

It is a crime under federal law to threaten a current or former president.

On Thursday, the man’s mother called police to report she had found a threatening note in the home she shares with her son and that a rifle was also missing, the complaint said.

‘I’m going to work for George W. Bush and the Pentagon,’ the note said, according to the government. ‘I have to slay a dragon and then Barbara Bush is mine.’

Climate Change Deniers are “Headless Chickens” says Prince Charles

The Prince of Wales has launched an attack on climate change sceptics, describing them as the “headless chicken brigade” and accusing “powerful groups of deniers” of engaging in intimidation.

Charles, who has long campaigned to raise awareness of global warming and has hit out at sceptics in the past, unleashed his latest salvo during an awards ceremony at Buckingham Palace for green entrepreneurs.

“It is baffling, I must say, that in our modern world we have such blind trust in science and technology that we all accept what science tells us about everything – until, that is, it comes to climate science,” the prince said in a speech on Thursday evening.

“All of a sudden, and with a barrage of sheer intimidation, we are told by powerful groups of deniers that the scientists are wrong and we must abandon all our faith in so much overwhelming scientific evidence.

“So, thank goodness for our young entrepreneurs here this evening, who have the far-sightedness and confidence in what they know is happening to ignore the headless chicken brigade and do something practical to help.”

Charles made his comments as the inaugural Prince of Wales Young Sustainability Entrepreneur Prize was awarded to Gamal Albinsaid, who founded the Indonesian social enterprise Garbage Clinical Insurance, which helps the poor gain access to health services and education through the collection and recycling of rubbish.

Russia Killing Stray Dogs Before Olympics Begin – Calls Them “Biological Trash”

The city of Sochi has hired a private company to kill as many stray dogs as possible before the Winter Olympics, it has been claimed.

Describing the animals as ‘biological trash’, the owner of the company has reportedly admitted being tasked with using poison and traps to rid the city of stray dogs before thousands of tourists and competitors arrive for the Games’ opening ceremony next Friday.

The news will anger animal rights campaigners who thought Sochi officials had abandoned plans to exterminate the stray dogs following widespread protests last year.

Speaking to ABC News, the owner of Basia Services extermination company Alexei Sorokin claimed the animals were a realistic threat to the Games.

‘Imagine if during an Olympic Games a ski jumper landed at 130KPH (80 MPH) and a dog runs into him when he lands. It would be deadly for both the jumper and the stray dog,’ he said.

President’s Weekly Address – Restoring Opportunity for All

In his weekly address, President Obama expanded on the goals he laid out in the State of the Union address. Goals that if followed by those in Congress, would result in a better opportunities for the American people.

After four years of economic growth with eight million new private sector jobs, our unemployment rate is the lowest it’s been in more than five years.  And with the economy speeding up, companies say they intend to hire more people this year.

But while those at the top are doing better than ever, average wages have barely budged.  Inequality has deepened.  Too many Americans are working harder and harder just to get by.  And too many still aren’t working at all.

Our job is to reverse those trends.  It’s time to restore opportunity for all people – the idea that no matter who you are, if you work hard and live up to your responsibilities, you can make it if you try.

Calls For Christie Resignation or Impeachment Already Being Heard

Forget about the White House in 2016. The question now is whether Gov. Chris Christie can survive as governor.

David Wildstein, the man who ordered the George Washington Bridge lane closures, is now pointing the finger directly at Gov. Chris Christie, saying the governor knew about the lane closures in September when they occurred.

That directly contradicts Christie account at his Jan. 13 press conference when he made this statement: “I had no knowledge of this — of the planning, the execution or anything about it… I first found out about it after it was over.”

If this charge proves true, then the governor must resign or be impeached. Because that would leave him so drained of credibility that he could not possibly govern effectively. He would owe it to the people of New Jersey to stop the bleeding and quit. And if he should refuse, then the Legislature should open impeachment hearings.

By the governor’s own standard, lying is a firing offense. Here’s what he said about his deputy chief of staff, Bridget Kelley, at the same press conference: “There’s no justification for ever lying to a governor or a person in authority in this government. As a result, I’ve terminated Bridget’s employment.”

One hopes that he would consider lying to the people of New Jersey as an offense of equal magnitude.

Dead Biker Buried In Transparent Coffin Sitting On His Harley

Years before Billy Standley died on Sunday, he planned out every detail of his funeral: He bought up the three plots next to his wife’s grave, had his sons build him a custom casket, and arranged for the funeral director to embalm him in a sitting position. Earlier today, Standley’s dream funeral took place, and he was laid to rest atop his beloved Harley-Davidson.

Standley first came up with the idea 18 years ago and, with the help of his family, worked on it on and off for years. The casket was made out of plexiglass, with wood and steel rods reinforcing its bottom.

“If you stopped by his house, he showed you his casket,” his son Roy Standley told the Dayton Daily News. “He was proud of it.”

Dave and Tammy Vernon, co-owners of a funeral home, were tasked with the embalming process. “We’ve done personalization… but nothing this extreme,” Tammy Vernon said.

Breaking: Chris Christie Knew About Bridge-Gate All Along

The former Port Authority of New York and New Jersey executive who directed the George Washington Bridge lane closures said in a letter Friday that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) knew about the closures when they were happening, according to The New York Times.

In a letter released by his lawyer, David Wildstein, the former official, said the lane closures were “the Christie administration’s order.” Wildstein also asserted that “evidence exists as well tying Mr. Christie to having knowledge of the lane closures, during the period when the lanes were closed, contrary to what the governor stated publicly in a two-hour press conference.”

“Mr. Wildstein contests the accuracy of various statements that the governor made about him and he can prove the inaccuracy of some,” the letter also said, according to The New York Times.

Christie has repeatedly denied having any knowledge of the lane closures.

Christie’s office on Friday declined to comment on Wildstein’s letter.

Mrs Romney to Americans – You Guys are All Losers

You guys are a bunch of losers. Tough luck, that you missed out on having Mitt treat you and the country as one of his Bain Capital victims.

Sidenote: Parden my interpretation, but when Mrs Romney (sorry, I cannot remember her first name and I have no time to go look it up. It’s really not that important.) went on Fox News and declared that America lost out because Mittens did not win the presidency, that is what came to my mind.

This is what she said. “I really believe this, you know, we lost, but truly the country lost by not having Mitt as president.”

White Powder Scare At Hotels Near Super Bowl Stadium

Bomb squads and hazardous material teams fanned out across New Jersey on Friday after packages containing a suspicious white powder were delivered to as many as seven hotels near the site of the Super Bowl on Friday, according to multiple reports.

Authorities also were testing white powder contained in a letter sent to the Manhattan office of former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, law enforcement officials told CNN. The letter opened in the mail room contained white powder, according to law enforcement officials.

No injuries were reported in either case, and NBC 4 reported that none of the New Jersey hotels were hosting the athletes who will be playing at MetLife.

WABC 7 reported the packages went to an Econo Lodge on Washington Avenue in Carlstadt, the Renaissance Meadowlands Hotel on Rutherford Avenue in Rutherford, the Homewood Suites by Hilton on Route 17 in East Rutherford and the Hilton Hasbrouck Heights Meadowlands on Terrace Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights.
No evacuations were ordered, WABC 7 reported.

Gun man Opens Fire on Bus in Brooklyn New York

A beggar opened fire on a city bus in Brooklyn Friday and shot a man who told him had told him to pipe down, police said.

The 46-year-old hothead was asking for money on the B12 as it rolled through Brownsville, police said. The victim told the creep to stop annoying people, and a fight ensued.

As the quarrel escalated, the thug whipped out a gun and fired four times, hitting the 31-year-old victim in the hand about 9:50 a.m., officials and sources said.

The eastbound bus screeched to a halt in front of the 73rd Precinct stationhouse on East New York Ave. An off-duty cop walking out of the stationhouse rushed onto the bus and arrested the suspect, who was trying to flee, police said. Charges against him were pending.

The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to Brookdale University Hospital with non-life-threatening wounds, officials said.

Police recovered a 9-mm. gun from the bus, cops said.

This Billionaire Father Will Pay $130 Million To Man Who Sets His Gay Daughter Straight

Gigi Chao, Sean and Cecil [insert]
Hong Kong socialite Gigi Chao is gay and has married her partner of nine years, Sean Eav. But her union cannot get the blessings of her father Cecil Chao, who is in the midst of a campaign to set his gay daughter straight.

Cecil is offering HK$500 million dollars which he has now doubled ($130 million US) to the lucky man capable of marrying his daughter and making him a proud granddaddy.

Cecil might be in for a rude awakening because apparently, Gigi’s love is not for sale. In this letter to her father, Gigi expressed her love for her dad, but explained that Sean is the only one for her.

Dear Daddy,

I thought the timing was right for us to have a candid conversation.

You are one of the most mentally astute, energetic yet well mannered and hard-working people this humble earth has ever known.

Your confidence, quick wit, and charisma brightens any room you enter.

I love you very much, and I think I can speak for my brothers also, that we have the utmost respect for you as a father and role model in business.

I am sorry that people have been saying insensitive things about you lately. The truth is, they don’t understand that I will always forgive you for thinking the way you do, because I know you think you are acting in my best interests. And we both don’t care if anybody else understands.

As your daughter, I would want nothing more than to make you happy. But in terms of relationships, your expectations of me and the reality of who I am, are not coherent.

I am responsible for some of this misplaced expectation, because I must have misled you to hope there were other options for me. You know I’ve had male lovers in the past, and I’ve had happy, albeit short-lived, relationships. I found myself temporarily happy, buoyed by the freshness, the attention, the interest, of someone physically stronger than myself.

But it was always short-lived, as I quickly lost patience, and felt an indescribable discomfort in their presence. It usually made me frustrated, and I would yearn for my freedom again. I’ve broken a few hearts, hearts of good, honest and loving men, and I’m sorry that it had to be so.

But with Sean, a woman, somehow it was different. I am comfortable and satisfied with my life and completely at ease with her. I know it’s difficult for you to understand how I could feel romantically attracted to a woman; I suppose I can’t really explain it either. It just happens, peacefully and gently, and after so many years, we still love each other very much.

My regret is that you have no idea how happy I am with my life, and there are aspects of my life that you don’t share. I suppose we don’t need each other’s approval for our romantic relationships, and I am sure your relationships are really fantastic too.

However, I do love my partner Sean, who does a good job of looking after me, ensuring I am fed, bathed and warm enough every day, and generally cheering me up to be a happy, jolly girl. She is a large part of my life, and I am a better person because of her.

Now, I’m not asking you to be best of friends; however, it would mean the world to me if you could just not be so terrified of her, and treat her like a normal, dignified human being.

I understand it is difficult for you to understand, let alone accept this truth.

I’ve spent a lot of time figuring out who I am, what is important in my life, who I love and how best to live life, as an expression of all these questions. I am proud of my life, and I would not choose to live it any other way (except also figuring out how to be gentler on the planet).

I’m sorry to mislead you to think I was only in a lesbian relationship because there was a shortage of good, suitable men in Hong Kong.

There are plenty of good men, they are just not for me.

Wishing you happiness.

Patiently yours,

Your daughter, Gigi.

Brain surgeon walks six miles in Alabama snow storm to perform life-saving surgery

Dedicated surgeon: Dr Zenko Hrynkiw walked six miles through a snow storm to perform brain surgery in Birmingham, Alabama

A brain surgeon walked six miles through a snowstorm in Alabama on Tuesday to perform life-saving surgery.

Dr Zenko Hrynkiw was at Brookwood Medical Center in Tuesday morning when he was needed for emergency brain surgery miles away at Trinity Medical Center.

The problem was the sudden snowstorm had locked down traffic, and the neurosurgeon didn’t get farther than a few blocks by vehicle.

‘The cell service was bad so we were fading in and out,’ said Steve Davis, charge nurse in the neuro intensive care unit at Trinity. ‘At one point, I heard him say, “I’m walking.”‘

Davis had alerted authorities, and they were looking for him. There were supposed sightings, but no one could find him.

‘The police were looking for him,’ Davis said.

Hours had gone by since the initial contact in the morning.

‘He finally called me and said, “Where’s the patient? What’s the status?”‘ Davis said. ‘He spoke to the family and went off to surgery.’

It was an emergency surgery for a traumatic brain injury. Hrynkiw is Trinity’s only brain surgeon, Davis said.

‘Without the surgery, the patient would have most likely died,’ Davis said. ‘But he is doing well.’

Traffic nightmare: Weather conditions in the South left many commuters trudging home after abandoning their cars

Davis said he and colleagues at Trinity were estimating the hike to the Montclair Road hospital at about eight miles, although Google Maps puts it at about six. The extreme weather Tuesday has been blamed for five deaths statewide and it stranded untold thousands away from their homes.

‘This just speaks volumes to the dedication of the man,’ Davis said. ‘When I saw him, all I could say was “You are a good man.”‘

Davis said Hrynkiw takes good care of himself and frequently walks for exercise.

The doctor was hardly the only person to talk miles through the storm. Roads around metro Birmingham were still lined with thousands of abandoned cars and trucks on Thursday.
