Kissing Republican Congressman Considering Running for Re-Election

Family Values… Republican style. As long as the woman looses her job, then all is well in the universe and the show will go on.

Vance McAllister, the married Republican congressman who was caught kissing a married woman – married to another man that is – is trying to put the incident behind him and seems to be looking forward to the next election.

Meanwhile, the woman he was kissing lost her job and probably her marriage.

Nothing to see here, except a VanceForCongress lawn sign!

Rachel Maddow is Shocked By The Kathleen Sebelius Resignation

“Well that was a surprise!”

That was how Rachel maddow started her segment about the resignation of HHS Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius. Maddow went on saying that the administration finally got some good news about Obamacare since the website debacle back in October, and she found it strange that they decided to accept Sebelius’ resignation now.

Accepting the resignation Maddow said, turned the story of the successful Obamacare enrollment figures into “a story instead about firing people.”

“Kathleen Sebelius has to go? Why now? Because the administration can’t resist stepping on its own tail and turning the first good news cycle they have had about Obamacare since it passed into a story instead about firing people for Obamacare’s failures?”

Maddow concluded by comparing the administration’s acceptance of Sebelius’ resignation to a team that began the season playing badly, then eventually winning the championship and in the middle of their celebration, they fire their coach.

Jon Stewart Explains How Brain Matter is Wasted on Republicans

Remember the ad where a Republican running for office took a gun an shot at a stack of papers he called Obamacare? As if shooting at the papers would magically make the law they hate disappear.

Well Jon Stewart took this ad and its underlining meaning to its logical conclusion – a hypothetical that spilling coffee on the 13th Amendment would reinstate slavery.

“Oh my God I spilled coffee on the 13th amendment. Black people are slaves again,” Stewart said.

A great way for Stewart to show the waste of brain matter when it comes to Republicans and their approach to thinking.

Stating that we’ve probably seen the limits of the Republican hate to Obamacare with their shooting ads, Stewart then shows just how far these Republicans could go.

Please, don’t give em any ideas.

Protector In Chief Protects First Lady From Wind Attack – Pic

President Obama flew to Texas to herald the “winds of change” that blew through the 1960s — but first, he had to protect First Lady Michelle Obama from a stiff breeze on the tarmac.

Arriving in Austin aboard Air Force One, the president and Mrs. Obama walked down the stairway as a gust threatened to give the first lady an awkward Marilyn Monroe moment.

The wind lifted the first lady’s pleated skirt “enough, above the knee, for the president to reach over and hold it down” to avert an incident, according to a pool reporter who was there.

The first couple laughed at the flap as they walked down the stairs.

Right Wing Nut Alert – Woman Throws Shoe at Hillary Clinton in Las Vegas

Picture – AP

So now conservatives can feel good that their president – George Bush – is not the only American leader to have a shoe thrown at his head. On Thursday in Las Vegas, Hillary Clinton suffered the same fate.

(AP) — A woman was taken into federal custody Thursday after throwing a shoe at Hillary Clinton as the former Secretary of State began a Las Vegas convention keynote speech.

The incident happened moments after Clinton took the stage before an Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries meeting at the Mandalay Bay resort.

Clinton ducked, and she did not appear to be hit by the object. She then joked about it.

“Is that somebody throwing something at me? Is that part of Cirque de Soleil?” Clinton quipped.

Many in the audience of more than 1,000 people in a large ballroom laughed and applauded as Clinton resumed her speech.

“My goodness, I didn’t know that solid waste management was so controversial,” Clinton said. “Thank goodness she didn’t play softball like I did.”

Brian Spellacy, U.S. Secret Service supervisory special agent in Las Vegas, said the woman was being questioned and would face criminal charges. Spellacy declined to identify the woman, and he said it wasn’t immediately clear what the charges would be.

A black and orange shoe was recovered from the stage, Spellacy said.

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius Turns In Her Resignation

Republicans should be happy. For months, since the original failed launch of the Obamacare website, Republicans have called for heads to roll… preferably, the head of the Health and Human Services – Kathleen Sebelius. Well today, Republicans got their wish as Sebelius turned in her resignation to the Obama administration.

Sylvia Burwell, who leads the White House Office of Management and Budget, will be nominated to take her place, according to multiple White House sources.

Sibelius was not expected to remain in the Obama administration through the end of the president’s second term – with reports that she had been discussing her future for months with the President.

Nancy Pelosi calls Out Republican Racism Against President Obama

The president wouldn’t say it, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. And his silence on the matter doesn’t mean others aren’t see in the truth.

We’re talking about racism and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is pointing a finger directly at the problem – the Republicans.

In a recent interview,  Pelosi was asked if she thought racism was the foundation of the Republicans’ opposition to the president, more specifically in reference to immigration. She basically answered yes.

“I think race has something to do with them not bringing up the immigration bill. I’ve heard them say to the Irish, ‘If it was just you, it would be easy,’” Pelosi said, when a reporter asked if race was a factor in Republicans stances and how they treat the president and others.

“I think generally speaking, they are disrespectful of the representatives of the president’s administration,” Pelosi said, adding that she didn’t “want to go to that place” about whether the GOP were disrespectful to the president.

Stephen Colbert to Take Over from David Letterman

The New York Times is reporting that Stephen Colbert, the comedian and host of Comedy Central’s “Colbert Report,” will succeed David Letterman as host of “Late Show,” CBS’s flagship late-night franchise, when Mr. Letterman retires next year, the network announced on Thursday.

Mr. Colbert will sign on for a five-year term as the new “Late Show” host, according to the announcement from Leslie Moonves, president and chief operating officer of CBS, and Nina Tassler, chairwoman of CBS’s entertainment division.

“Simply being a guest on David Letterman’s show has been a highlight of my career,” Mr. Colbert said in a statement. “I never dreamed that I would follow in his footsteps, though everyone in late night follows Dave’s lead.”

He added: “I’m thrilled and grateful that CBS chose me. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go grind a gap in my front teeth.”

Three Adults Arrested for Child Abuse – Posted Video of Abuse on Facebook

The child abuse shown in the 6 minutes video is totally wrong. But the ignorance displayed by the three adults by posting the video on Facebook was dumb beyond words.

The video of the child abuse has since been taken down from the Facebook page, but not before getting over 8600 views and getting the attention of law enforcement. The mother of the child, along with two other adults were arrested.

The video shows the child being hit with a belt over 50 times and smacked in the face. The mother is heard threatening to share the video on Facebook and saying she does not care if viewers call Child Protection Services about the incident.

According to Prosecutor David Leyton, “the law says that you can administer ‘reasonable’ physical force upon a child for disciplinary purposes. I think this was ‘unreasonable.’”

“The adults in this case clearly went beyond what is a reasonable level of ‘parental discipline,’” he continued. “What the video in this case reveals is a group of adults whose actions were a criminal assault against a child and that behavior cannot be condoned nor allowed under the law.”

The child’s mother Demitria Powell, as well as Stefon Felton and Uteas Taylor  are charged with third degree child abuse, conspiracy to commit child abuse in the third degree, and third degree child abuse committed in the presence of another child.

The Heartbleed Hit List: The Passwords You Need to Change Right Now

It’s time to update your passwords to various sites affected by the Heartbleed bug.

SOBERP

An encryption flaw called the Heartbleed bug is already being called one of the biggest security threats the Internet has ever seen. The bug has affected many popular websites and services — ones you might use every day, like Gmail and Facebook — and could have quietly exposed your sensitive account information (such as passwords and credit card numbers) over the past two years. But it hasn’t always been clear which sites have been affected. Mashable reached out to various companies included on a long list of websites that could potentially have the flaw.

Below, we’ve rounded up the responses from some of the most popular social, email, banking and commerce sites on the web. Some Internet companies that were vulnerable to the bug have already updated their servers with a security patch to fix the issue.

This means you’ll need to go in and change your passwords immediately for these sites. Even that is no guarantee that your information wasn’t already compromised, but there’s no indication that hackers knew about the exploit before this week.Although changing your password regularly is always good practice, if a site or service hasn’t yet patched the problem, your information will still be vulnerable.

We’ll keep updating the list as new information comes in.

Florida Woman Dropped Dead Because State Republicans Refused Obamacare

While Obamacare is saving millions of lives today, there are still some states – headed by Republican governors – that insist on killing their citizens… literally. One of those states is Florida and the case of Charlene Dill is a sad but perfect example.

Dill, a 32-year-old mother of three, collapsed and died on a stranger’s floor at the end of March. She was at an appointment to try to sell a vacuum cleaner, one of the three part-time jobs that she worked to try to make ends meet for her family. Her death was a result of a documented heart condition — and it could have been prevented.

Dill was uninsured, and she went years without the care she needed to address her chronic conditions because she couldn’t afford it.

Under the health reform law, which seeks to expand coverage to millions of low-income Americans, Dill wasn’t supposed to lack insurance. She was supposed to have access to a public health plan through the law’s expansion of the Medicaid program. But Dill, a Florida resident, is one of the millions of Americans living in a state that has refused to accept Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion after the Supreme Court ruled this provision to be optional. Those low-income people have been left in a coverage gap, making too much income to qualify for a public Medicaid plan but too little income to qualify for the federal subsidies to buy a plan on Obamacare’s private exchanges.

Florida has one of the highest uninsurance rates in the nation, and is home to a disproportionately large number of residents who struggle to afford health services. Nonetheless, lawmakers have continued to resist accepting generous federal funds to expand Medicaid to an estimated 750,000 low-income Floridians like Dill.
