NJ Man Found Guilty Of Molesting Sleeping Woman On Flight

Bawer Aksal
Last year, a man was arrested for allegedly groping a fellow plane passenger’s breasts and genitals as she slept next to him on a Phoenix to Newark flight. Yesterday, a federal jury found Bewar Aksal guilty of criminal sexual contact and sexual abuse.

The victim, 50, testified that she had been sleeping next to the window when she woke to Aksal’s hand in her shorts. The pain, she said, “that’s what woke me up.” She alleged that he whispered to her, “Kiss me,” and said, “I was completely humiliated. I was absolutely freaking out. I wanted to go hide somewhere.”

Another passenger said that Aksal was spooning her and he thought they were a couple. And a flight attendant told the court the victim “came to the back (of the airplane) almost panicking. She was in distress, shaking and crying.”

Aksal, 49, was arrested when the plane landed and allegedly told FBI investigators that the victim came onto him. Yesterday, he cried after the verdict was announced. Aksal faces up to life in prison.

Broccoli Salad

The problem with most broccoli salads is the broccoli – the raw broccoli. Some people like raw broccoli, and actually, I love raw broccoli stems. They taste a lot like cabbage or cauliflower. But the florets? If they’re raw, keep them away please. So, how to make a broccoli salad if you don’t like raw broccoli? The solution – blanch the broccoli for 1 minute, or no more than two minutes. The broccoli will still be firm enough for the salad, the color will be even prettier, because blanching brings out the green, and the taste will be less raw and more cooked. In this recipe, the broccoli pairs wonderfully with the toasted almonds, bacon, peas, and onion. The honey and vinegar in the dressing adds some sweet and sour to the mix. Normally I cringe at the thought of broccoli salad, but honestly, this is one of the tastiest salads I’ve ever made, broccoli or not.

Broccoli Salad Recipe

  • Prep time: 20 minutes

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 5-6 cups fresh broccoli florets (about 1 pound of florets)
  • 1/2 cup toasted slivered almonds
  • 1/2 cup cooked, crumbled bacon
  • 1/4 cup of red onion, chopped
  • 1 cup of frozen peas, thawed (or fresh peas if you can get them)
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup honey

METHOD

1 Bring a large pot of water, salted with a teaspoon of salt, to a boil. Add the broccoli florets. Cook 1-2 minutes, depending on how crunchy you want the broccoli. 1 minute will turn the broccoli bright green, and leave it still pretty crunchy. 2 minutes will cook the broccoli through, but still firm. Set your timer and do not cook for more than 2 minutes, or the broccoli will get mushy. Drain the broccoli and immediately put into a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking. Let cool and drain.

2 Combine broccoli florets, almonds, crumbled bacon, chopped onion, and peas in a large serving bowl. In a separate bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, cider vinegar and honey. Add dressing to the salad and toss to mix well. Chill thoroughly before serving.

Jordan Davis: Another Black Florida Teenager, Shot Dead By White Man Claiming Stand Your Ground

This incident happened in November 2012 when Jordan Davis and his friends were sitting in their car parked in a Jacksonville convenience-store parking lot. Davis was sitting in the back seat of the car and like many teenagers, they were listening to music being played over their car’s stereo.

Michael Dunn

Like George Zimmerman followed Trayvon Martin, a 46 year old white man named Michael Dunn went over to where the teens were parked and told the them to turn their music down. Of course, Mr. Dunn had the option of going about his business without paying any attention to the teens, but he chose to start an argument with the teens. He then took out his gun and shoot 10 rounds into the car, killing Jordan Davis.

Dunn claimed he heard threats coming from the car and saw a shotgun. He said he feared for his life and was only Standing His Ground. He was arrested and charged with first degree murder in Davis’ death, and faces three other counts of attempted first degree murder for shooting into the car.

Police did not find any guns in the victim’s car.

Dunn has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail in a Duval County, Florida, jail.

His trial is scheduled to begin on September 23.

HORROR! Police Free Four People Held Captive FOR YEARS in ‘Prison Room’ in Houston Home

Police in Texas have freed four men from a north Houston home where they were held captive in an alleged scheme to defraud them out of welfare, Social Security and veterans’ benefit checks.

The victims range in age from 50 to 80, police said. In addition, four women, three of whom are believed to suffer from physical disabilities and mental illness, were also found at the home, thought it is not yet known whether they were being held captive.

Police Sgt. Steven Murdock said a neighbor called authorities Friday morning expressing concern about men in the house in the northern part of the city. Officers who responded found three men locked in a “prison room” in a garage and a fourth man in the home.

Officers broke down a door that had been nailed shut, and discovered what they described as a trash-filled scene of squalor. The men were suffering from malnourishment, living in a converted garage that contained no furniture, CNN affiliate KTRK reported. According to Murdock, the men were forced to sleep on the linoleum floor.

Police freed four men from a home in north Houston where they were held for years in a scheme to defraud them out of welfare and veterans benefit checks.

Eight people have been held captive at a north Houston house, with some perhaps dwelling in what’s described as a “prison room” and one man possibly kept against his will for a decade, police said.

OJ Simpson ‘has only THREE MONTHS to live because of an extreme case of diabetes’

OJ Simpson has only three months to live as a result of his extreme case of diabetes and unhealthy lifestyle behind bars.

The combination of ‘sky high’ blood pressure, a vastly expanding waistline and a lack of physical activity as he serves a 33-year prison sentence have doctors concerned about his health.

Dangerous weight: The former football star is said to be topping the scales at around 300 pounds, and his weight increase was on full show during a May court appearance

The first warning flags were raised when Simpson appeared at a hearing in May when the former running-back looked much heavier than he ever had before.

Now The National Enquirer claims that he weighs 300 pounds and prison doctors have encouraged him to exercise and eat more healthfully to combat the high blood pressure and diabetes.

  • 1 1/2 lb. fresh yucca
  • 10 eggs
  • 1/4 cup of mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • Salt and cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup of steamed/sautéed chard, finely chopped

What you do:

  • Cut yucca into 3 inch rounds. With a knife, cut away the tough brown skin and pink flesh.
  • Bring a large pot filled with water to a boil. Add yucca pieces.
  • Cook for about 15-20 minutes or until tender (should be soft but firm)
  • Transfer yucca to a cutting board. When cooled, dice yucca into small cubes. Discard stringy and fibrous parts.
  • In a bowl, whisk together eggs.
  • In a nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium flame. Add onions and a dash of cayenne pepper. Cook for ~2 minutes.
  • When onions are golden, add in yucca pieces. Cook until yucca starts to brown (about 5 minutes)
  • While yucca is cooking, add in chard. Then pour egg mixture into the same skillet and stir evenly to distribute all ingredients. Modestly season with salt.
  • Cook over medium heat until the bottom is set (5 minutes).
  • Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the egg mixture. Top with a dash of cayenne pepper.
  • Transfer the skillet to the oven, and bake on 350F until the center is set (~15 minutes.) Enjoy! (Serves Eight)
