One of my Facebook friends from California sent me this video and asked me to share it. Just in time for Valentines, Chris Hassett pays tribute to marriage equality with his very own song, This I Promise You.
Enjoy!
They’re claiming that Rand Paul will give the Teaparty response to the President’s State of the Union address. His two cents will be added after Florida’s Marco Rubio gives the Republican’s answer to the President.
But who do they think they’re fooling? We all know that the Teaparty is just another tentacle of the octopus that is the Republican party. Let’s hope that this time around, Rand Paul keeps his eye on the right camera and not do what Michele Bachmann did last time around.
“We are giving a voice to the tea party movement when the mainstream media and the Republican establishment wants to write us off as dead,” said Amy Kremer, chairman of the Tea Party Express. This is the third year in a row that Kremer’s organization has sponsored the tea party response.
The dueling GOP speeches come at a time when a very public rift is developing between the Republican establishment and conservative activists over the direction of the party. Some grassroots activists are specifically angry at Karl Rove and other Republicans for stating that they will choose sides in upcoming Republican primaries and only financially help candidates who have a chance of winning in the general election.
Madame Tussauds New York, in tribute to Whitney Houston who died February 11th (God, has it been a year already?), unveiled on Thursday four life-like wax figures of the singer representing milestone career moments of her life. The likenesses, shown off in Manhattan, will be installed in Madame Tussauds attractions in New York, Washington, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
“They’re amazing. They’re beautiful,” said Pat Houston, Whitney’s sister-in-law who was also her manager, reports the Daily News.
“If she could step down here and be alive and really feel what’s happening right now she would thank and appreciate everyone in this room,” said Gary Houston, Whitney’s brother. “I’m saying it for her, I know she loves and appreciates everything that’s going on here today.”
Also attending the unveiling was Whitney’s mom, Cissy Houston but her daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown was not present at the event. However, she did tweet this:
Chris Dorner is on the run from the police in California. He is wanted for killing at least one police officer and two other people. The former police officer has been on the run since Sunday and the latest word now is that police don’t know where the fugitive is.
You would think a man who is accused of killing others and on the loose will be feared by the public. But not on Facebook. Someone has opened up a page dedicated to Dorner, and they are in full support of the man on the run. As of last check, the page – called We Are All Chris Dorner – had a little over 415 followers.
Here’s the latest on the manhunt:
Presidents and football coaches often get along because they have such personal experiences with victory and defeat.
When President Obama called Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh this week, he lauded him for winning the Super Bowl after the a “bumpy season” that had included three straight defeats.
Harbaugh told Obama that life’s greatest accomplishments can come after “the greatest tribulations and adversity,” and he told the president: “I know you know this as much as anybody.”
Obama joked to Harbaugh: “You know, you and me, we should try some try some time to do some things easy and smooth … I’d like to know what it feels like; it’s never happened to me.”
Obama also spoke with Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome, and the two reminisced about Newsome’s playing days with the University of Alabama and the Cleveland Browns in the 1970s and ’80s.

(Reuters) – Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is the most popular U.S. politician, surpassing fellow Democrats President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden as well as leading Republicans, a national poll found.
Sixty-one percent of American voters approve of Clinton, a possible U.S. presidential candidate for 2016, while 34 percent said they had an unfavorable opinion, according to the survey by Quinnipiac University released on Friday.
The poll comes one week after Clinton left her post as the nation’s top diplomat. Clinton, 65, has said she does not see herself going back to politics but left open the possibility of such a return.
In comparison, 51 percent said they held a “favorable” opinion of Obama while 46 percent had an unfavorable opinion. For Biden, 70, another potential 2016 contender, 46 percent gave him good marks compared to 41 percent who did not.

So, we’re bracing for another severe storm surge here on the east coast. I’m prepared though. Super Storm Sandy will live in infamy in my neck-of-the-woods and if there’s one thing that bitch taught me, its “preparedness is next to godliness”. I think I managed to score a few extra points on the “City-Dwellers Who Stand A Fair Chance of Surviving The End of The World” meter–fo’ sho! Here’s a bit of what I got out of the experience:
A purported Klan Grand Poobah known as the “Exalted Cyclops”, who asked an interviewer to be identified only as “Edward”, says of the proposed march:
“It’s not going to be 20 or 30, it’s going to be thousands of klansmen from the whole United States coming to Memphis, Tennessee.”
Gee, can’t wait….
A Brief History of Forrest Park in Memphis, Tennessee: Forrest Park for years has stirred up emotions. It contains the grave of Nathan Bedford Forrest, a Confederate cavalry leader who traded slaves before the war and went on to become the first grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, the infamous hate group that carried out a merciless campaign of lynchings, church fires and other terror against African Americans as well as other immigrant groups.During the war, troops under Forrest’s command notoriously were accused of slaughtering Federal black troops after the Battle of Fort Pillow. The “Fort Pillow Massacre” became a rallying cry for the Union, according to historians.
“He brought with him not only decades of experience, but boundless creative energy,” “His artistry and craftsmanship will live on forever in the characters he created. His “Star Wars” creatures may be reinterpreted in new forms by new generations, but at their heart, they continue to be what Stuart created for the original films.” ~ “Star Wars” director George Lucas.
As an artist and a lover of all things scifi, I salute your passing Stuart. Godspeed.
Soul Food Junkies is new PBS film by Byron Hurt, chronicling the dynamic and historical significance of soul food and its impact on American cuisine. The movie is touted as a non-preachy, autobiographical look at the impact this genre of cooking had on the institution of American slavery, the period of Reconstruction and post modern-day racism. Hurt sets out on a historical and culinary journey to learn more about the soul food tradition and its relevance to black cultural identity.
Everyone, and not just African-Americans, have something to say about soul food. Some good, some downright condemnation. Whatever your take, this style of cooking should not be discounted for enabling Blacks’ survival in the New World, from the caloric requirements on slave ships, to the subsistence gardens of slave families. African-Americans invented soul food for survival and comfort and no price could be assigned to either of those.
“The hand of the African in the pot, transformed the taste of the pot.”
Lenovo introduced a new tablet also known as tabletop as it is too big in size. With 27 inch of screen, it cannot be categorized in tablets but due to full touch screen, it could not be considered as a normal PC. Lenovo’s IdeaCentre with windows 8 is a multi user tabletop, which, most likely will be attracted by the gamers. High definition resolution and crystal clear preview will catch attention of many people who enjoy home theaters. Though it is not available for sale in the market but pre-ordering is at its boom.
