Man Files 122 False Income Tax Returns – Gets $92,000 in Returns

Here’s something original. Barry made over $92,000.00 filing 122 false income tax returns using the information of dead people.

In other news, Republican Senator Rand Paul recently defended Apple’s decision to cheat the American Government out of billions in taxes, by shipping their income overseas. Paul was heard saying that everyone game the system in some way, so Apple did nothing wrong.

I guess what this guy did is okay, using Paul’s standard.

The U.S. attorney’s office said in a release John M. Berry Jr. of Dunkirk, pleaded guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Buffalo to making a false claim against the United States. The charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron J. Mango, who is handling the case, said between Sept. 3, 2008, and March 25, 2009, Berry filed 122 false income tax returns for the tax years 2007 and 2008 with the IRS.

During that time, Berry obtained the personal and identifying information for 122 recently deceased individuals and then used that information to file federal tax returns. The defendant created fraudulent income and withholding information for the dead taxpayers and filed the returns electronically, Mango said.

The 122 tax returns sought refunds totaling $217,520 from the IRS, of which the defendant received $92,462.12. The refunds were deposited directly into Berry’s bank account, Mango said.

“This case should serve as a warning that our office, working with our law enforcement partners, will not tolerate attempts to either steal the identities of individuals, or the money of the taxpayers of this country,” U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. “That this defendant would rob the identities of deceased individuals is concerning, and could have brought additional grief and pain for their loved ones.”

Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 26.

Newborn Chinese Baby is Rescued ALIVE from Toilet Pipe

Firefighters in eastern China have rescued an abandoned newborn baby boy lodged in a sewage pipe.
The infant was stuck in a pipe directly beneath a toilet commode, state television reported, in a case which has sparked anger on social media sites.

There are frequent reports in Chinese media of babies being abandoned, often shortly after birth.

Fight for survival: The newborn baby was rescued by firefighters after being flushed down a toilet from the fourth floor. Firefighters were able to hear faint cries and, exploring further, spotted a baby’s foot deep inside the pipe

Unbelievably, the baby survived the ordeal, which saw him having to be cut out of a pipe

Firefighters received a call from a landlady of a block of flats saying that she thought a baby was trapped in a toilet pipe in the building as she had heard it crying

The problem is attributed variously to young mothers unaware they were pregnant, the birth of an unwanted girl in a society which puts greater value on boys or China’s strict family planning rules. In the latest case the infant was found in the sewage pipe in a residential building in Jinhua in the wealthy coastal province of Zhejiang on Saturday afternoon.

The harrowing discovery came after residents reported the sound of a baby crying, state television said late on Monday.

The pipe was just four inches wide in diameter the China Daily newspaper said, according to the BBC.

Firefighters had to remove the pipe and take it to a nearby hospital, where doctors carefully cut around it to rescue the baby boy inside, the report said.

The firefighters worked quickly to dismantle the pipe and rescue the trapped youngster, who was heard wailing

The Party’s Over

The signs of decline are everywhere. No ideas. No strategy except saying no. Extreme candidates. An unbending view of the constitution that allows no other interpretation. An aging, angry, declining electorate. Technology that doesn’t work and that isn’t attracting the best young talent in Silicon Valley. A pollster who was so wrong last November it actually skewed the numbers in many election forecasts is saying that the president is in trouble. And perhaps worse, a Ronald Reagan fetish that misinterprets what Reagan really accomplished, and how he accomplished it. Tell me what’s positive about the Republicans.

It’s as if the party is driving across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge with its eyes closed. Nothing good can come of this. They’ve already alienated a majority of people by voting down background checks. And now they’re making noise that they will reject an immigration bill that has wide support and will address serious deficiencies in our system. Siding with big business on tax reform would be a sweet third strike as we move into next year’s election season. In fact, 2010 will be seen as the swan song of the far right; the last gasp of a fading and rudderless movement that will take up residence in the south and fight the good fight, 150 years after the last major battles.

The Democrats, by contrast, are beginning to move out of the morass they found themselves in after the 2010 elections. Yes, they are presently mired in scandal muck, but this too shall pass. The scandals might slow down their momentum, but as the GOP will use them as an excuse to do nothing, the population will see their tactics for what they are, and have always been, and will vote accordingly. The Democrats will probably not take the House, but they will make inroads on the path to a majority in 2016. They’ll also hold on to the Senate, but perhaps by a smaller margin than today.

From there, it will be up to the Republicans who are left to either help make this country better or continue their obstruction. Yes, they have Rubio, Paul, Ryan and Christie. But up against O’Malley, Cuomo, Clinton and Malloy, they don’t stand a chance.

Ray J Displays his Kim Kardashian Look-a-like on 106 And Park

He went on 106 & Park to talk about his new single, I Hit It First – an obvious song about his relationship with Kim Kardashian, although he tries to deny it – but it was the guest Ray J brought with him to the studio that had everyone talking and continuing the controversy about the single.

Her name is Luba, and she stayed backstage until the audience began yelling “bring her out, bring her out.” Luba then walked onstage, receiving hugs and kisses from the show’s host Bow Wow. Bow Wow then began pointing out the fact that Luba looked just like Kim, but was cut off by Ray J.

Ray J’s and Kim Kardashian’s relationship took on a whole new meaning when the two made a sex tape that went viral. Many people believed that sex tape made Kim Kardashian famous. After some failed relationships including a marriage, Kim hooked up with Kanye West and is now pregnant with his child.

I Hit It First debuted No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

London Attack Suspect was Arrested in 2010 in Kenya on Terror Charges

Michael Adebolajo was arrested with five others on charges that they were preparing to train and fight with an Al Qaeda-linked terror group. Adebolajo, who was carrying a British passport, was handed over to Britain. He is now suspected of butchering a British soldier last week on a London street.

Michael Adebolajo is among nine suspected members of the Al-Shabaab Movement arrested by Kenyan police on Nov. 22, 2010, on claims of being Al-Shabaab recruits on their way to Somalia.

NAIROBI, Kenya — A suspect in the savage killing of a British soldier on a London street was arrested in Kenya in 2010 near the East African country’s border with Somalia, an anti-terrorism police official said Sunday.

Michael Adebolajo was believed to have been preparing to train and fight with the Al Qaeda-linked Somali militant group al-Shabab in 2010 when he was arrested with five others, Kenya’s anti-terrorism police unit head Boniface Mwaniki told The Associated Press.

Mwaniki said that the suspect was then deported, however, Kenya’s government spokesman said he was arrested under a different name and handed to British authorities.

“Kenya’s government arrested Michael Olemendis Ndemolajo. We handed him to British security agents in Kenya and he seems to have found his way to London and mutated to Michael Adebolajo,” spokesman Muthui Kariuki said. “The Kenyan government cannot be held responsible for what happened to him after we handed him to British authorities.”

Michael Adebolajo (front) shouts slogans as Muslims march in London in a protest on April 27, 2007, against the arrest of six people in anti-terror raids.

The gruesome scene was captured by witnesses’ cellphones, and a video picked up by British media showed one of the suspects, with bloodied hands, making political statements and warning of more violence as the soldier lay on the ground behind him.

Hardline Muslim leaders have identified the man in the video as Adebolajo, an Islam convert who allegedly used to take part in London demonstrations organized by British radical group al-Muhajiroun. The group catapulted to notoriety after the Sept. 11 attacks by organizing an event to celebrate the airplane hijackers, and was banned in Britain in 2010.

Anti-terrorism head Mwaniki rejected allegations that Adebolajo was tortured while in custody, but said the unit would further investigate.

Adebolajo’s friend asserted in a BBC interview that Adebolajo became withdrawn after he allegedly suffered abuse by Kenyan security forces during interrogation in prison there. Mwaniki said at the time, there were no indications of torture or abuse.

Mwaniki said dozens of foreign youth are arrested every year attempting to cross the Kenyan border to join al-Shabab, which claims to be fighting a jihad or holy war against the Somali government and African Union forces.

Sony’s Speaker Ball Is Music to your Ears

Part of a growing trend among accessories, Sony’s egg is equipped with NFC (near-field communication) for instant pairing with any NFC phone. That includes almost all top-line Android models, including Sony’s as well as franchise players such as the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One, but not the iPhone.

To pair, just enable NFC through the phone’s settings and hold it over the top “bridge” over the driver, where the NFC tag sits. This will immediately links the phone with the speaker via Bluetooth. Those without NFC phones can fall back to the plain old Bluetooth pairing, which is hardly cumbersome, but still complicated enough that it prevents many from ever using it. There’s also a mini-jack input for a hard-wire connection.

About the size of a tennis ball, the Sony SRS-BTV5 is a wireless speaker that can pair with your phone via NFC — meaning all it takes is a touch. It delivers good sound for the price: $69.99

The Parenting Extremes

For as long as I can remember I’ve had complete freedom when it comes with what I can do with my life. My parents have rarely, if ever, said I can’t do something or hang out with certain people. For as long as I can also remember, I’ve never met parents that are anywhere near as lenient as my parents; many of my friends parents hover over them in one way or another.

My parents didn’t think twice letting me drive and take my friends to play paintball

If you ask my parents why they give me such freedoms, their answer will be that they trust me completely. I’ve never given them a reason to not. I don’t come home drunk or on some drug(s), do reckless things, hang out with the wrong crowd, or be a total numb skull. This trust is what lets me leave late at night, come home even later, have my own car, promote for clubs, sleep over a girlfriends house and hang out with friends they have never met.

Now you may think my parents aren’t involved much in my life if they give me such freedom but, that would be wrong. I love hanging out with my mom and though I can be seen as a tougher kid, I’m not ashamed to say that. Sure me and my dad may get on each other nerves sometimes but, we still have a lot in common that keeps us close. I really do enjoy being around my parents and hanging out with them both.

I was trusted with a car as soon as I got my license

On the other side of the spectrum, most of my friends parents still have a tendency to hover over them as if they’re twelve years old. Their parents control who they hang out with, don’t trust them when they’re out, check in on them constantly, to sum it up they baby their teenage son or daughter. They seem to shelter their kid from the world as much as they possibly can, the same world they’ll one day be on their own to live in.

Ask these teens if they can’t wait to get away from their parents thanks to college or to just be able to move out one day and they will all say “yes!” These same teens usually go totally rebellious once they are free of their parents since they can finally choose their own life to live.

I am not a parent nor am I claiming to be one in anyway. I’ve never raised a kid and don’t plan to for many years to come. I am only a product of how I was raised by my parents; I was raised in a way that I believe every kid should be as well. We all need to be able to experience the world when we’re young, the world we will one day be on our own to live in.

Fujitsu Lifebook 2013 Concept Incorporates a Tablet, Keyboard, Phone and Camera

The Fujitsu laptop concept, that also incorporates a tablet, phone and camera. Dubbed the Lifebook and seen as a concept from 2013, this original unit is what they call a modular device.

You can detach its camera and use it as a digital camera, detach the tablet and use it as such or attach it and use it as the laptop’s keyboard or touch drawing area. There’s also a phone that you can insert into a special area and I guess that this device incorporates the CPU and storage space used by the laptop. The Fujitsu laptop may be bulky, but it’s still an interesting and original design you might want to keep an eye on.

I particularly like the idea of having both a tablet and a laptop in a single gadget and connected through a 16 pin docking area. Data is available right away and the device is sensed immediately, also adding some new features to the laptop.

Maine Man Arrested in Death of Girl, 14, Tells Police He Thought She Was Pregnant

A 20-year-old Maine man arrested in the death of a 14-year-old girl whose naked, charred body was found on a Brooklyn beach in January allegedly told police he smothered her with a pillow in his cousin’s apartment because he thought she was pregnant, law enforcement sources said.

Christian Ferdinand, of Limestone, Maine, was charged Thursday with second-degree murder in the death of Shaniesha Forbes. The student at the Academy for Young Writers in Williamsburg disappeared two days before her body was found face up on the beach, with burns to her legs, arms and hands.

Ferdinand allegedly told detectives he exchanged phone numbers with Forbes in December after meeting her through Facebook. Over the next month, the two developed a relationship and had unprotected sex multiple times, sources say Ferdinand told police.

Ferdinand said he met Forbes on Jan. 4 at his cousin’s apartment on Nostrand Avenue and she told him she was pregnant. They argued, and Ferdinand told detectives he killed Forbes, brought her body to the roof and hid it for a day before transporting it to Gerritsen Beach in a suitcase and setting her on fire, using Axe body spray as an accelerent.

The medical examiner has found no indication Forbes was pregnant, sources familiar with the investigation said.

Law enforcement sources say police recovered the suitcase Ferdinand said he used to transport her body.

A law enforcement official previously told NBC 4 New York investigators had found a kerosene can and signs of a bonfire near where Forbes’ body was found.

A review of Forbes’ cell phone and Facebook information helped lead authorities to Ferdinand, law enforcement sources said. Police said Ferdinand had no prior record in New York.

An Oregon high school student has been accused of plotting a school bomb attack “specifically modeled” after the Columbine shooting, prosecutors said today. (ABC News)

Students at an Oregon high school were in shock today, after learning that a classmate they described as “happy” and “nice” is accused of plotting to blow them up with bombs he’d allegedly built and hid in his bedroom.

Grant Acord, 17, a junior at West Albany High School, was arrested late Thursday at his home on two counts of possession of a destructive device and two counts of manufacture of a destructive device, according to the Albany Police Department.

But prosecutors say he will be charged as an adult with aggravated murder and is expected to be arraigned Tuesday in Benton County Circuit Court.

Scientists Create Bionic Ear More Powerful than Human Ear

Scientists at Princeton University have designed a bionic ear that can hear better than human ears. And get this: It was printed using an off-the-shelf 3D printer.

We’ve heard of 3D printers someday building human organs before, but what’s noteworthy about this project is this printed ear intertwines embedded electronics. These Princeton researchers basically 3D-printed cells and nanoparticles, and then combined a small coil antenna with cartilage to create this “bionic” ear, according to the university.

The result was a fully-functional organ that can hear radio frequencies a million times higher than our human ears, lead researcher Michael McAlpine told Mashable.

“The way that our ear hears now is we pick up acoustic signals and then we convert those into electrical signals that go to our brain,” said McAlpine, who is an assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at Princeton. “What this ear does is it has this electronic coil on it and it picks up electronic signals directly.”
