The Capitol was locked down Thursday after shots were fired outside one of the House office buildings.
Some lawmakers said seven or eight shots were fired and that they seemed to be coming from the area of the Rayburn House Office Building.
It appeared at least one person was injured in the shooting.
Media reports suggested the incident began at the White House and ended on Capitol Hill.
ABC News issued an alert saying someone had tried to ram a barricade near the White House and then fled in a vehicle with police in pursuit.
NBC News reporter Pete Williams tweeted that the incident began at the White House and led to a car chase.
ABC News, citing police, shot and killed a woman who was driving the car.
We can thank the Republicans in Congress and the conservative media for this. With all their 24hrs barrage of lies about the Affordable Care Act also known as Obamacare, the average American is no wiser as to the benefits of the law or that the simple knowledge that the Affordable Care Act and Obamacare is the same thing.
Jimmy Kimmel proves this point by sending out a camera crew and asking the average joe on the street if he/she prefers Obamacare over The Affordable Care Act. Not even knowing that the two are the same, a majority of those asked chose The Affordable Care Act.
Republicans have indeed made a mockery out of the American people. Thanks GOP!
Like most of America, Jon Stewart is angry with the GOP.
One day into a government shutdown triggered by House Republicans, 800,000 workers have been furloughed and many government programs, like the Women Children and Infant’s nutritional supplement program, are suspended. “It’s like taking candy from a baby,” said Stewart on “The Daily Show.” “Except instead of candy, it’s food.”
Meanwhile, conservative political pundits like Fox News’ Todd Starnes are laughing at anyone who’s upset by the shutdown. “If you believe the Democrats, it’s time to buy the potted meat and Tang and get in your survival bunker,” he said on “Hannity,” with a hearty chuckle.
Stewart responded to the segment with open disdain, saying simply, “F*ck you.”
“I know that for you, potted meat and Tang is shorthand for sh*t you wouldn’t possibly imagine eating unless there was a catastrophe,” he said. “For the people actually affected by the government shutdown, it’s the shit they eat that they can no longer afford.”
Ted Cruz’s daddy, Rafael Cruz, was selected to give the keynote address at the Adams County Republican Party’s Lincoln Day Dinner. And Rafael didn’t disappoint. Those in attendance heard the usual talking points including their fact that President Obama is a Muslim.
RAFAEL CRUZ: So Barack Obama said: If the winds shift, I will side with the Muslims.
IN CROWD: He is Muslim!
CRUZ: [Exclamation] McCain couldn’t say that, because it’s not politically correct. It is time to stop being politically correct! [Pols emphasis]
CRUZ: Our lives? Well, look at what’s happening with our lives. From the cradle, 55 million babies have been murdered by abortion since 1973. At the other end, Obamacare, with denying care to the elderly, with care being rationed, with care being postponed for 12 to 18 months, with care being controlled by a group of bureaucrats, that on the basis of cost/benefit, will decide whether you get a medical procedure or not, they’re destroying our end of life. As a matter of fact, one of the things in Obamacare is that the elderly, every five years you must have end-of-life counseling. Translation: suicide counseling! [Pols emphasis]
CRUZ: I know I am in a Republican Party meeting. If you want to throw tomatoes at me, throw tomatoes at me. But unfortunately, you cannot say that the Republican Party is without blame. We have too many RiNOs in the Republican Party!
CRUZ: They have their minds made up, and basically their idea is this: you’re too stupid and I know what I’m doing. Well I’ll tell you what, we the people are not stupid. We the people ought to be smart enough to throw them out of office, or primary them, and put constitutional conservatives in their place!
We are still trying to determine if Cruz returned to the asylum after the speech was completed.
Rick Joyner, head of MorningStar Ministries hosted his show “Prophetic Perspective on Current Events” on Monday and determined that President Obama’s presidency was a failure, and that the only hope for this great nation was for divine intervention using military force. Joyner asked God to speak to the good people of the military, in hopes that they would “seize the government!”
“We’re headed for serious tyranny, a terrible tyranny right now,” he continued. “But guess what? The kingdom is coming, the Kingdom of God is coming. And America is not the Kingdom of God. I think we have been used in some wonderful and powerful ways by God, we’ve been one of the most generous nations in history. We’ve done so much good.”
“That’s why I appeal to the Lord: Don’t let us be totally destroyed, please raise up those who will save us. And as I’ve been telling friends for a long time, no election is going to get the right person in there because the system is so broken.”
“And that the most crucial element of that is who to the martial [sic] is going to be,” he said. “I believe there are noble leaders in our military that love the republic and love everything we stand for. And they could seize the government.”
With much of the federal government paralyzed for a second day, President Obama will meet with congressional leaders today in search of a way to end the government shutdown and increase the debt ceiling.
The talks will mark the first time Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., have convened with Obama in person on such issues.
It’s unclear whether the meeting signals that both sides are ready to negotiate. Obama intends to reiterate his position that Republicans pass a “clean” spending bill, according to the White House, and Republicans also signaled that they want Democrats to give in on some of their demands.
The meeting would be meaningless if Democrats are still unwilling to negotiate, Republican leaders in both the House and Senate suggested.
“Just yesterday, the president reaffirmed that he would not negotiate with Congress, and Senate Democrats actually voted not to negotiate,” McConnell said through a spokesman. “So frankly, we’re a little confused as to the purpose of this meeting.”
The meeting comes as congressional Republicans are increasingly under pressure today to either hold their ground or take an escape hatch offered to them by Democrats and a small but growing number of moderate Republicans who seek to end the unpopular shutdown.
To do so would require the House to abandon its efforts to alter the Affordable Care Act, and instead pass a so-called “clean” funding bill that the Senate and President Obama could accept.
“I’m concerned about those that are on furlough right now,” Rep. Michael Grimm, R-N.Y., told ABC News. “I know what it’s like to make $30,000 a year and barely be able to pay your rent.
“My heart goes out to those people and that’s why I will do whatever I have to do to fund the government, to get this shutdown over.”
So when Congress passed the bill in both the House and Senate, and when President Obama signed it into law, and when the United States Supreme Court ruled the law constitutional, they all broke another unknown law and committed a criminal act, according to the brilliant mind of Rick Oops Perry!
At a campaign event for Republican New Jersey Senate candidate Steve Lonegan, Perry blamed Democrats for the current government shutdown because they were unwilling to defund or delay the Affordable Care Act.
“If this heath care law is forced upon this country, the young men and women in this audience are the ones who are really going to pay the price,” the governor told a crowd at the Bendix Diner in Hasbrouck Heights, according to The Star-Ledger. “And that, I suggest to you, reaches the point of being a felony toward them and their future.”
“That is a criminal act, from my perspective, to put that type of burden on them — to mortgage their future like that,” he added. “America cannot stand that.”
For his part, Lonegan insisted that he approved of the tactics being used by House Republicans, saying, “We’re shutting down unnecessary parts of government? Good.”
Lonegan’s Democratic opponent, New Jersey Mayor Corey Booker, blasted the Republican businessman in a statement on Tuesday.
“Steve Lonegan today underscored why he has no business representing New Jersey in the U.S. Senate,” Booker said.
“It was bad enough that he reemphasized his allegiance to the extreme right wing of the Republican Party and their efforts to hold the American people hostage by shutting down our government. But in an event today with [Perry], Lonegan also trivialized the furloughing without pay of more than 30,000 New Jersey federal workers.”
Video has emerged showing the shocking moment a Range Rover driver apparently drove through a crowd of motorbikes as it fled with its family inside for fear of being attacked.
Police have revealed the bikers started to attack the vehicle after the driver, 33-year-old Alexian Lien, hit a motorcyclist.
Apparently fearing for the safety of his wife Roslyn Ng and young child, aged five months, Lien sped off, hitting several bikers in his path.
The video shows Lien hitting another motorcyclist after his Rover was chased by the pack of bikers.
Warning: some viewers may find certain scenes in the video to be distressing.

And I bet they all represent members if the infamous Koch controlled Teabaggers… Tea Party.
Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) said Tuesday that there are about 30 to 40 Republicans in Congress who refuse to recognize the legitimacy of Obama’s presidency and are seeking to erase everything that’s happened during his administration.
King made the remarks in a discussion with Chris Matthews on MSNBC’s Hardball, after the host asked how many Republicans would like to “erase [Obama’s] record as if he was never here.”
“I’ve had members, they know who they are, they say – ‘I really can’t say with these lips that this man, Barack Obama, was elected president’,” Matthews said. “They choke on that. How many are there in Congress on your side that represent that rejectionist front?”
“I would say there are probably 30 or 40 who are like that,” King responded. “As there were a number of Democrats who felt that way about George W. Bush, and going back to when you and I first met, Republicans who felt that way about Bill Clinton.”
King has been one of the most vocal opponents in his party to the GOP strategy of tying ObamaCare to the resolution to fund the government. He’s openly criticized Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), who has led the defunding campaign, as a “fraud,” and on Monday sought to orchestrate a “moderate rebellion” in the House to continue funding the government.
