Piers Morgan’s Battle with Gun Rights Advocate – Video

Already angered that a gun rights movement planned a campaign to promote the “good side of guns” on the first anniversary of the massacre in Newtown Connecticut, CNN’s Piers Morgan couldn’t contain himself when Alan Gottlieb, Founder of the Second Amendment Foundation brushed off the concerns of a Newtown family member.

Morgan read a statement from Erica Lafferty – whose mother along with 20 children and 5 other adults, were killed in Sandy Hook. In the statement, Erica called the planned event a “disgusting political stunt.” Gottlieb shook his head and smiled.

A bad move on his part.

“Why are you laughing?” Morgan asked

“Because that’s totally over the top. That’s not what our intent was. It’s not what anything we were going to do was.” Gottlieb answered.

“Wait a minute!” Morgan shot back. “You plan a campaign to promote the good side of guns on the first anniversary of the worst mass shooting at a school in American history, and you have the gall to laugh when I read out a quote from one of the victims’ families? How dare you?”

Gottlieb’s lame excuse was to accuse the “anti-gun movement” of politicizing the shooting. But that lameness was not calming fir Morgan. “How dare you laugh at them,” he continued.

Bill Clinton on Shutdown – People Need to “Work Together”

(CNN) — Former President Bill Clinton weighed in Monday on the legislative impasse at the heart of the government shutdown, admonishing the “constant conflict” that has come to define American politics.

Speaking at a convention of the National Community Pharmacists Association in Orlando, Clinton said he liked the crowd because of the practicality of their profession.

“I worry that our politics has gotten impractical. That’s about the nicest word I can think of,” Clinton said.

Convictions are a good thing, Clinton said, as are political beliefs and support of one policy over the other.

The comments are some of the first Clinton has made on the spat over government funding, debt and Obamacare since before the partial shutdown took effect October 1.

In an interview with ABC at the end of September, Clinton took a hardline approach to the looming shutdown, calling on President Barack Obama to call a congressional Republican “bluff” on defunding the Affordable Care Act.

Obama could have stopped the shutdown, Clinton said at the time.

“But the price of – the current price of stopping it is higher than the price of letting the Republicans do it and taking their medicine,” he said.

Clinton on Monday was far less confrontational and far more the elder statesmen who has seen and done it before, having been President during the last federal government shut downs in 1995 and 1996.

Instead of conflict, Clinton urged cooperation.

“Nobody’s right all the time. And the more complex problems are the more you need people to work together,” he said.

But politics is often a zero-sum game where there are winners and losers and especially in Washington, working together is often far less attractive than some notion of winning.

Woman Stabs Boyfriend In Eye, Because He Refused Threesome

A Florida woman stabbed her boyfriend in the eye with a knife after he refused to have sex with her and another woman she had brought home from a local club, authorities said.

The late September incident occurred after La Crystal King-Woolfork, 28, came home from a spot called Shake Your Booty Club with another woman at about 4 a.m. The two women had sex, and then King-Woolfork asked her boyfriend to participate, according to an Indian River Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

When he refused, the intoxicated King-Woolfork “became very angry and grabbed a knife,” the boyfriend told authorities.

The two struggled until the man was able to take the knife from King-Woolfork and hide it between the mattresses of the bed, according to deputies.

He left the house and called for a ride to the hospital, the report said. She was arrested on an attempted murder charge on Sept. 26 after police spoke to her boyfriend.

When police spoke to King-Woolfork, she said confirmed that she brought the woman home to have sex and wanted her boyfriend to join.

When the other woman left, and her boyfriend was in bed, King-Woolfork said she “picked up a knife off the dresser because she knew (her boyfriend) was going to get mad,” the arrest report said.

She said her then boyfriend took her hand to take the knife and the two struggled, which cut her knee, the report said.

The fight escalated and she hit her boyfriend in the head with her cell phone, King-Woolfork said.

She denied stabbing him but said she had hit him in the face several times with a metal candle holder, according to deputies. Then he punched her in the nose, the report said.

HIV Infected Priest Arrested For Solicitating Sexual Act

A 69-year-old Catholic priest was arrested in a Cleveland park after offering a ranger $50 for a sexual act, police said.

James McGonegal exposed himself to an off-duty Metropark ranger last week and then proceeded to pleasure himself while seated in his SUV on park grounds, police reported.

Because he is HIV-positive, he was charged with a felony count of solicitation after testing positive for HIV, as well as public indecency.

He was a pastor at St. Ignatius of Antioch Church, according to several local reports.

He was released on bond.

He solicited an off-duty ranger wearing civilian and said he was “cruising,” police said. The ranger, who was not part of a sting operation, asked the man what he meant by that.

McGonegal said he needed help to “get off,” according to officers. Sex aides were found in his vehicle.

Then the priest showed the ranger his penis and began masturbating, police said.

He was arrested without incident.

WNBA Finals Dominated By Minnesota Lynx’s 8-Months Pregnant Power Forward

ATLANTA—The Minnesota Lynx swept the Atlanta Dream Thursday night to clinch their second WNBA championship in three years, led by several dominant performances from 31-year-old, eight-months pregnant Rebekkah Brunson.

Brunson, a 6-foot, 2-inch tall, 215-pound power forward who recently entered her third trimester, averaged 26 points and 14 rebounds in the series and was by all accounts the Lynx’s biggest threat on both ends of the floor.

“Rebekkah was really the difference-maker, there’s no question about that,” said Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve, adding that Brunson’s low-post game has drastically improved since putting on 40 pounds over the past few months. “She did it all—blocking shots, snagging rebounds, and absolutely dominating in the paint. And I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player just blow through the lane like that. No one could guard her.”

“When she threw her weight around down low, she was unstoppable,” Reeve continued. “Rebekkah was boxing out every other player on the court to get rebounds, and to do that against a team as good as the Dream was really something special.”

NYPD Arrests Homeless Man Learning How To Code

The homeless man participating in a highly-publicized software coding tutorial was arrested earlier this morning by the NYPD. According to NYC programmer and self-proclaimed entrepreneur Patrick McConlogue, “Journeyman” Leo was arrested for trespassing in a city park within the confines of the 10th Precinct, which includes Chelsea. McConlogue tells us Leo was “picked up for sleeping on a bench that he normally doesn’t sleep on.” NYC Parks are closed from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

The timing is unfortunate—McConlogue and Leo are scheduled to appear on The Today Show Wednesday morning to talk about their project. McConlogue discovered that Leo was arrested when he went to meet him for their daily tutorial. “His hat was there and his coffee was knocked over, so I knew something happened.” A friend of Leo’s directed McConlogue to a nearby traffic cop who saw the arrest, and he confirmed that Leo was in custody at the 10th Precinct station house.

McConlogue says he was told that it could be days or even weeks until Leo is released, depending on a number of variables. And it may be even longer until he gets the laptop back. McConlogue showed officers the receipt for the laptop he purchased for Leo, but without the serial number the NYPD will not turn it over. “They have to bring it to some processing center, which takes more time,” he says. “We can’t prove ownership.”

In August, McConlogue anounced that he would offer Leo, a homeless person he frequently saw on his way to work, $100 or the opportunity to learn how to code. Leo chose the latter, and for the past couple of months McConlogue has been teaching Leo all about coding. He tells us it’s been going well.

Walmart to Get Stuck With Most of Food Stamp Shopping Spree

A couple of Louisiana Walmart stores will be stuck with most of the bill after food stamp recipients went on a colossal shopping spree when a power outage temporarily lifted their spending limits, state officials said today.

Police were called to Walmart locations in Mansfield, La., and Springhill, La., on Saturday as shoppers cleaned out store shelves.

Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd said some customers were pushing more food than any household could store in a refrigerator and freezer.

“I saw people drag out eight to ten grocery carts,” Lynd said. One person hauled away more than $700 worth of groceries, the chief said.

The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services’ spokesman Trey Williams said the retailers who chose not to use the emergency procedures that limit sales up to $50 per cardholder during an emergency would be responsible for any additional amount spent over eligible benefit balances.

Motown Record’s Maxine Powell – Dead At The Age of 98

Maxine Powell, who was responsible for developing the charm, grace and style of Motown Records’ artists during the Detroit label’s 1960s heyday, died Monday at age 98.

Motown Historical Museum CEO Allen Rawls said Powell died of natural causes at a hospital in Southfield, Mich.

She didn’t sing or write songs, but those associated with Motown say Powell was as essential to the label’s operations as any performer or producer.

She directed the label’s Artists Development Department, also known as “Motown’s Finishing School.” Through it, she emphasized to many artists – including Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, the Jackson Five and the Supremes – how they should carry themselves, treat people and dress.

Motown founder Berry Gordy said the training school was the only one of its kind offered at any record label.

Powell’s passing comes less than two months after she was honored at the museum by Robinson and others.

“She was such an important, integral part of what we were doing here at Motown,” Robinson said at the Aug. 26 event held at the famed Hitsville, U.S.A, building.

“It didn’t matter who you became during the course of your career – how many hits you had, how well your name was known around the world,” he said. “Two days a week when you were back in Detroit you had to go to artists’ development. It was mandatory.”

Louie Gohmert Unknowingly Explains The GOP Plan – Default on Debt, Impeach Obama

The Republican secrets are slowly coming out. About a week ago, we heard one of their secret when a Republican unknowingly explained the reason they wanted to delay the implementation of Obamacare – they wanted to delay it for a year in hopes of winning the Senate in 2014 and then totally repealing the law. That secret came to light complements of Trey Radel – Representative from Florida.

Now, Republican brainchild Louie Gohmert is unknowingly explaining that – although his party is responsible for shutting down the government right before this country hits the debt ceiling on October 17th – if America default on the debt, President Obama will be impeached.

So with this second secret known, do you really think Republicans will deal in good faith with Democrats to avoid hitting the debt ceiling on October 17th? I’ll say no. They are more willing to launch this nation over the financial cliff. And if they get a chance to impeach the president before we hit bottom, then so be it.

New Poll: Another Record in Republican Disapproval

A new high of 74 percent of Americans disapprove of the way the Republicans in Congress are handling Washington’s budget crisis, up significantly in the past two weeks and far exceeding disapproval of both President Obama and congressional Democrats on the issue.

The latest ABC News/Washington Post poll finds that criticism of the GOP’s handling of the budget dispute has grown by 11 percentage points since just before the partial government shutdown began, from 63 to 70 and now 74 percent – clearly leaving the party with the lion’s share of blame. Indeed 54 percent now “strongly” disapprove.

By contrast, 53 percent disapprove of Obama’s work on the issue, essentially flat since the crisis came to a head and a broad 21 points lower than disapproval of the Republicans. Fewer, as well, strongly disapprove of Obama’s performance, 39 percent.

The Democrats in Congress, for their part, remain positioned between the two: Sixty-one percent disapprove of their handling of budget talks in this poll, produced for ABC by Langer Research Associates, unchanged from last week and up 5 points from the week before.

Teen Cheerleader Gets Three Years in Prison for Pimping Her Mentally-Disabled Friend

Montia Parker, an 18-year old former cheerleader captain at a Minneapolis high school, has been sentenced to 3 years in prison for “pimping out” a younger team mate to generate extra income for herself. Even worse, her 16-year old victim has a learning disability.

Apparently, Parker put up several online ads promoting the girl for sexual services, and even drove her to some of her customers. From one job, the girl performed oral sex for one of her customers, made $60 from the job, and was forced to turn all the money over to Parker.

The victim’s family urged the judge to give Parker the harshest punishment possible. The family says the girl has since isolated herself from others, changed schools, and has lost interest in cheerleading.

In addition to her 3-year sentence, Parker will also be registered as a sex offender and will appear in all nationwide databases.
