George Zimmerman Will Not Use “Stand Your Ground” Defense… For Now

George Zimmerman, charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin, waived his right Tuesday to seek immunity under Florida’s “stand your ground” self-defense law before his June trial.

His lawyers have said they may seek immunity later.

Zimmerman, who has pleaded not guilty, is a former neighborhood watch volunteer of white and Hispanic descent who has maintained he shot Martin on Feb. 26, 2012, in self-defense after Martin attacked him.

The “stand your ground” law says people do not have to retreat if they believe they are in imminent danger of being killed or badly injured.

How To Not Parallel Your Car – Video

The video was uploaded 5 days ago, but already has over 1 million views. It shows an unfortunate attempt at parallel parking (for those who don’t know what parallel parking is, it’s parking your car between two objects, mostly other vehicles.) The driver in this case takes over 30 minutes to park her car and the commentary from the guys recording this event makes this video a must see.

Coffee Can Prevent Breast Cancer Recurrence?

Drinking coffee is good for your health.

We’ve heard these studies before but now a new published report takes the claim a bit further.

This study reveals consuming an extra cup may stop or prevent the reoccurrence of breast cancer when taken with Tamoxifen.

Sound far-fetched?

Researchers at the University of Sweden don’t think so. They say it may be true: drinking coffee may help prevent the return of breast cancer.

Following 300 breast cancer patients for five years, researchers asked some to take Tamoxifen (a medication used for the treatment for early and advanced breast cancer) with coffee while the rest of the patients in the study refrained from coffee consumption and took their Tamoxifen on its own.

Participants in the study who drank two or more cups of coffee plus the Tamoxifen after breast cancer surgery had half the rate of cancer recurrence than that of the participants who did not drink coffee.

The researchers theorize that coffee acts to “activate Tamoxifen and make it more efficient.”

The connection between coffee consumption and a decreased risk in cancer is not new.
Other studies show coffee may slow the progression of cancer cells. Coffee has also been connected to a decreased risk of developing certain kinds of cancer including skin and colon cancer.

Lund University Associate Professor Helena Jernstrom stated, “We would like to know more about how lifestyle can interact with breast cancer treatment.

This is researcher talk for: we need to do more trials and research.

In the past year other studies pertaining to coffee and its effect on health have been published. Positive benefits of coffee drinking include:

• Decreased risk of diabetes
• Increased metabolism
• Increased heart health
• Longevity
• Decreased risk of stroke

Of course, if one doesn’t normally drink coffee, this study is not a green light to begin. Always check with your doctor before significantly altering your diet.

After all, going from no coffee to multiple cups of coffee may result in something you don’t want: a negative effect on the nerves!

Melissa AuClair blogs at www.launchyourcreativelife.com  She has worked in multiple areas including 8 years on medical-surgical floors as a RN.  She loves a good cup (or three) of coffee every morning.

The 10 Best Things You Can Do For Your Skin

There are many things you can do for your skin, and many of these things are not necessarily provided by pharmaceutical industries, in fact many of the fancy treatments we now use are packed with chemicals that in long term affect our skin badly.
Not all of them are bad, you just have to get to know them and your skin, its ok to give them a chance, and they need at least six weeks to work. If nothing has changed by week six, the product will never work for you.

1. Always try natural options, when it comes to nature, the original is better than the copy, since the biological structure of the skin is designed to recognize and utilize natural ingredients.
2. First of all begin by keeping it clean. Cleanse for approximately 2 minutes every night, twice a day.
3. Stop squeezing pimples. When people squeeze, it can rupture the duct that produces oil, causing trauma, infection and, eventually, scarring.
4. Begin from the inside out, avoid sugar intake as much as possible, since everything you put into your body is reflected in your skin.

5. Avoid sugar, but introduce chocolate, dark chocolate will arm your skin with additional flavonols, protective nutrients that researchers believe absorb UV light and increase blood flow to the skin, improving its appearance.
6. Get to know your skin type, this way you will ensure you’re using the correct cleanser and moisturizer.
7. Exfoliate once a week to remove old dead cell material. Use a “fractionated” oil to moisturize, this will mimic and replace your acid mantle, but those with sensitive skin may experience excessive skin irritation and should not exfoliate that often.
8. Have a good sleep; while you’re logging quality snooze time, havoc may be breaking out on your face. Hormonal surges during sleep cause your sebaceous glands to pump oil.
9. Also try to wash your sheets weekly, since when you sleep, lotions, hair gels, and oils sweat off of your body and onto your linens.
10. Take a chill pill; stress slows down the skin’s rejuvenation process. It can reduce cell renewal, destroy collagen fibers in the skin, and break down elastin, thus speeding up the aging process.

Female DNA Found On Boston Bombs

Investigators have found female DNA on at least one of the bombs used in the Boston Marathon attacks, though they haven’t determined whose DNA it is or whether that means a woman helped the two suspects carry out the attacks, according to U.S. officials briefed on the probe.

The officials familiar with the case cautioned that there could be multiple explanations for why the DNA of someone other than the two bombing suspects—Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his younger brother, Dzhokhar—could have been found on remnants of the exploded devices. The genetic material could have come, for example, from a store clerk who handled materials used in the bombs or a stray hair that ended up in the bomb.

On Monday, Federal Bureau of Investigation agents were seen leaving the Rhode Island home of the parents of Katherine Russell, the widow of Tamerlan Tsarnaev. The elder brother died after a shootout with police four days after the April 15 bombings.

Ms. Russell has been staying with her parents since the bombings, and FBI agents have been seen posted outside the home since her late husband was identified as one of the bombers. Her lawyer has said she is “doing everything she can to assist with the investigation.”

Michael Jackson’s Daughter Paris Reconnects with her Mother Debbie Rowe

Paris Jackson, Debbie Rowe
For years, Debbie Rowe, Michael Jackson‘s ex-wife and the mother of two of his children, was out of the picture. As followers of the frequently bizarre Jackson family saga know, the former dermatology nurse – who was married to Jackson from 1996 to 1999 – gave her pop star husband sole custody ofMichael Joseph “Prince” Jackson Jr., 16, and Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson, 15, in the divorce.Rowe, 54, was awarded $8 million in the settlement and, except for occasional visits with her children, steered clear of the family. She settled in Palmdale, Calif., about an hour outside Los Angeles, breeding horses, and zealously guarding her privacy.

But now, as a multi-million dollar wrongful death trial pitting the Jackson clan against concert promoter AEG Live gets underway in Los Angeles, Rowe has resurfaced. And sources say she’s grown particularly close to the daughter she never really knew.

Get more stories on your favorite celebrities by subscribing now.

In recent weeks, Rowe has spent an increasing amount of time with Paris Jackson – watching her perform in her school play, taking her out to lunch, and hosting her at her Palmdale ranch. Once alienated from her former in-laws, Rowe has the blessing of Paris’s grandmother and legal co-guardian, Katherine Jackson, who sees her as a good influence.

“Paris has been going through a lot of teenage angst and feels a little bit unloved,” says a source. “So about three months ago Paris reached out to her mother and told her she wanted to establish a relationship with her. Debbie was open to it, and Katherine Jackson is supportive of the developing relationship.”

Since then, Paris has spent two weekends with Rowe in Palmdale, helping her with her horses. “She’s enjoyed telling friends in L.A. how she’s helping take care of a pregnant mare on the ranch, and even how she was recently chased by a chicken.”

Unlike his younger sister, Prince Michael Jackson has not embraced his biological mother.

“He has anger issues with her,” says the source. “He feels like she abandoned him years ago.”

Indeed, in recent times the source says that Paris and Prince are not as close as they used to be, partly because of Paris’s relationship with her mother.

Rowe is not the mother of the late pop star’s third child, Prince Michael II, 11, who was born to a still-unidentified surrogate mother in 2002.

“Right now Paris is happy with the situation as it is,” says the source about budding the mother-daughter relationship. “It’s even looking like at some point Paris will want to move in with Debbie.”

Both Paris and Prince Michael are expected to take the stand in the wrongful death trial now underway.

Facebook Loses 1.4 million UK Visitors in a MONTH as Users Switch Social Media

The number of people using Facebook is plummeting, with 1.4million British users logging off in just one month.

Despite being the world’s largest social network with more than a billion users, people in Facebook’s biggest markets are deleting their accounts.

In the last month there has been a 4.5 per cent fall in British users, according to independent data.

Users in Facebook’s biggest markets are deleting their accounts and swapping to newer social media

In the last six months, Facebook has lost nearly 9 million monthly visitors in the US and 2 million in the UK.

Experts say as new social media sites grow, Facebook’s users are deserting the network.

They say that figures aren’t helped by the lack of new Facebook members. It is believed that most people who want to sign up to the site have already done so.

New media specialist Ian Maude said the fall in numbers was due to ‘a boredom factor’.

It is believed there is stagnation as most people who want to join the site have already done so

‘The problem is that, in the US and UK, most people who want to sign up for Facebook have already done it.

‘People like to try something new. Is Facebook going to go the way of Myspace?

‘The risk is relatively small, but that is not to say it isn’t there.’

Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg is said to be introducing new features in order to win members back.

The company is working to appeal to younger Smartphone users.

The most significant development is Facebook Home, software that can be downloaded on to certain Android phones to feed news and photos from friends – and advertising – directly to the owner’s locked home screen.

As well as switching off from the network, Facebook users are reported to be spending less time on the site.

The number of minutes spent on Facebook in the U.S has fallen.

The average dropped from 121 minutes in December 2012, to 115 minutes in February, according to comScore.

But Facebook explained that the time spent on its pages from those sitting in front of personal computers is declining rapidly because we are switching our screen time to smartphones and tablets.

Chris Christie: “The President Has Kept Every Promise He’s Made”

Chris Christie is once again, saying good things about the president.

Apparently Christie did not learn his lesson after he spoke good things about Mr. Obama during the 2012 election and was forced to bear the wrath of his  Republican friends for Romney’s loss.

Speaking on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program on the 6-month anniversary of the deadly storm, the Republican governor said presidential politics were the last thing on his mind as he toured storm-devastated areas with Obama last fall.

“The president has kept every promise he’s made,” said Christie, widely considered a potential candidate for the republican presidential nomination in 2016. “I think he’s done a good job. He kept his word.”

Christie’s warm embrace of Obama after the storm angered some Republicans, who said it helped tip a close presidential election to the Democrat and away from Mitt Romney, who Christie endorsed and for whom he campaigned last fall.

Christie says he and Obama have fundamentally different views on governing. But he said the two men did what needed to be done for a devastated region.

NBA Jason Collins: “I’m an NBA Center. I’m Black and I’m Gay”

Jason Collins, a 12-year N.B.A. veteran, has come out as the first openly gay male athlete playing in a major American team sport.

“I’m a 34-year-old N.B.A. center. I’m black and I’m gay,” Collins writes in the May 6 edition of Sports Illustrated. The magazine published the article online Monday morning.

The announcement makes Collins a pioneer of sorts: the first player in the N.B.A., N.F.L., N.H.L. or Major League Baseball to come out while still pursuing his career. Other gay athletes, including the former N.B.A. center John Amaechi, have waited until retirement to divulge their sexuality publicly.

Collins, who split this season between the Boston Celtics and the Washington Wizards, will become a free agent on July 1. He intends to pursue another contract in the summer, which may serve as a test for how N.B.A. teams respond to the announcement.

Games You Should Be Playing: Candy Crush Saga

So, you haven’t bought into the Candy Crush Saga craze yet, have you? Well, maybe you should because this match-3 game is seriously addictive, just like candy!

It is unlike any other match-3 game I have ever played and surpasses the likes of Bejeweled and others of its kind. The king.com creators of this game has made a unique twist out of a simple concept that leaves your sweet tooth wanting more.

Yes, you do have to match-3, but it doesn’t end there. You have to match 4 and up to get special booster candies and then you can combine those booster candies to make big happenings in order to beat the game levels and move on up the candy ladder.

But of course, it can never just be so easy. As you get higher up in the ranks, the challenges become more involved with layers of jellies, gates, and blobs of chocolates getting in the way. I swear those chocolates drive me crazy. Some levels you have to fill out orders, recipes, combos, clear the board of jellies, and/or achieve a target score.

This game can be really difficult and challenging to the point where there will be times when you just want to pull your hair out and give up, but you won’t because no way you’re going to let some sweet treats beat you down like that.

There’s also a social aspect to the game where you can connect your Candy Crush to Facebook. I highly recommend doing this because Facebook saves your progress which is helpful in case you ever have to reinstall your game or need to play the game on somewhere other than your original device. You also need your Facebook friends to send you extra lives and tickets. Tickets are needed to move forward to the next episodes.

The one big negative about this game though is they want you to pay for extra features such as more lives, moves, boosters, etc.

I paid $0.99 one time for extra lives. Never again.

Now, I know how to get unlimited lives and the Facebook integration comes in handy for that tip. So, you can definitely beat the game without buying any extras if you keep at it and learn the ins and outs of making a successful Sugar Crush level completion.

Right now, I’m on Level 169 and it’s kicking my butt hard-core. I’ve been stuck on this level for 2 weeks and it’s driving me crazy, but I will not give up. I most beat those chocolates!!

You can download and play Candy Crush Saga on any Android or iPhone device by use of Google Play or the Apple App Store or you can play it on Facebook.

Candy Crush is a deliciously sweet addictive game that you must give a try.

Happy Gaming!!
